It will be interesting to see how Bioware adds a brothel into the setting of the game. I'm expecting there to be a brothel. I'm automatically assuming there will be one. To not have a brothel would be a slap in the face. All great RPGs have a brothel or similar concept. Mass effect one had a brothel. I'm not asking for something NEW nor am i asking for special privileges. The brothel can be a place to offer interesting characters & content for straight, gay or lesbian gamers. (For anyone wondering there was a brothel in Mass Effect 1: masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Shaira - but it was very upscale and offered other services).

Do I get space aids from going to said place? Imagine that lol. That would make the game pretty interesting if that actually happened. Ryder wakes up with a strange itch. This topic you mentioned is in Dragon Age series. Oghren tried to use a healing poultice but it wasn't enough. Anders had to give that one guy a special remedy. Bioware actually put your concept into the game already.

Technically, ME1 didn't have a brothel. However, DAO had one so it's not like BioWare is opposed to the idea. Brothels come in many forms and do not always involve sex. It's fair for you to think the consort chambers is not a brothel since it's so unbelievably upscale and offers services other than sex. The reality is that it does offer sex as a service which makes it a form of brothel IMO. Still, I understand your point. I would be open to different variations of a brothel similar to the Asari consort chambers. Is a courtesan a better way to describe it vs a brothel?

Yes, that would be amazing... if Bioware took female face drawing lessons from CD Projekt RED. Actually, now that I think about it, it could still work out, as a haunted theme park ride. You buy your ticket, you enter a cart, spooky music plays, and then ME:A females jump out and go boo at you. Yeah, I can see that working, I'd pay for a ride like that.

There is one excellent reason asari (exclusive) brothels should exist in every major, multi-species hub: breeding with other species to avoid Ardat-yakshi syndrome. Most other species will be pairing up with their own kind to breed and build their numbers, except the deviants who don't care about their species' family values . The asari will need to build their numbers as well, but there is a harsh stigma about doing so with other asari. They have no qualms about raising little illegitimate babies. They won't take you to court for child support. These hookers won't know who that baby daddy is, no DNA test to prove it. I doubt they care. They just don't want the ardat-yakshi issue. *Edit* If there are no asari brothels, then I expect there will be slave dungeons where asari slavers have been kidnapping and selling war brides and war husbands to forcefully mind sex and impregnate themselves silly. I doubt BioWare is going to go this route, so yeah, brothels for a good cause, of course.

Why would Mass Effect: Andromeda have a brothel? No other game in the Mass Effect franchise has had a brothel. There is no good reason to spend the time and resources to have a brothel anyway.

Why do I get the feeling that the OP is already setting up his "Bioware is persecuting straight male gamers" schtick when there isn't a brothel? I mean, there wasn't a brothel in the last three Bioware games, right? Yeah, maybe there will be one in ME: A. But I can just as easily see there not being one.
And, just to clarify, I'm totally fine with one being included and I'm totally fine with one not being included.

And, just to clarify, I'm totally fine with one being included and I'm totally fine with one not being included. If a brothel is not there then they probably didn't do it because of liberal censorship. Liberals will bully & shame content creators into removing anything that may be offensive or sexually appealing. Liberals have become the worst thing for gaming since ultra right wing conservatives. In all fairness I don't mind if the brothel has content for gay & girl gamers, in fact I insist on it. I'm reasonable and open minded. I want to have fun which means letting others have fun too. - There was a brothel in Mass Effect 1: masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Shaira
- Brothels are the shady or upscale place that offers controversial content, sex, thugs, criminal activity, meeting place for criminal overlords.
Not putting in a brothel would make the world less believable, depending on the scenario of course. In most cases a brothel adds to immersion TEN FOLD. Having a brothel on a frontier outpost makes perfect sense.

And no, having it would make the world less believable because it goes against the previous games thus breaks immersion(using your own argument from other threads) and because it doesn't fit the scenario. The most you'll almost certainly get is the nightclub on the Nexus probably having exotic dancers like we see in Chora's Den, Afterlife, and Purgatory.

Remember when gamers used to wait until a game came out before crying foul? The good old days. Now gamers are only happy if they feel like they are being persecuted so they can have something to complain about. And it is true of both extremes, whether they think so or not.

If there's to be a brothel, it'll be filled with species that are attractive to the native species of Andromeda, such as the Khet.

Alternately: It's on a high-gravity elcor colony world, so without full-body pressure suits, a certain part of the human anatomy has... bloodflow issues.

If it available for any gender, I am game.
I start to thing about IF MEA have some character that we meet in this "special place" can become light romance (or real romance). Maybe we can invite him/her to Normad/Tempest or have some room in the hub.

I don't consider Sha'ira's place a brothel. She is the only person there who ever offers sex, and even then it isn't the first thing she offers. The establishment itself does not fit the definition of a brothel. Sha'ira's acolytes sorta remind me of the Companions in Firefly. In that series, they were high-class escorts who offered a variety of services depending on their particular specialties and what the client requires, anything from sexual encounters, to massages, a date to a function, someone to talk to etc. Not all Companions offered the same services and they had full control over whether they accepted or refused clients, as well as having the power to blacklist some so they could never hire any other member of their Guild. From what we saw in ME1, it does seem like Sha'ira's acolytes operate the same way, with some acolytes offering multiple services compared to others. Nelyna for example, only offers her services as a masseuse. So yeah, I wouldn't really classify her place as a brothel either.

That is only step one in what would happen............ RULE ALPHA ONE: NO KROGAN ALLOWED.For a galaxy concerned we had better keep the Krogan out of such a place. We don't need that end result I posted here happening to Krogan -which a business like this would likely entail itself too. Oh no just had another horrid thought: what if it mutated even more than I speculated in the other thread and it besides becoming airborn could then cross across different species.... the result: Every. Single. Species. Milky Way and Andromedain are DEAD. ............................................................ Great now I will not sleep tonight.

"You run a brothel?! Well hell! Join us on our 600 year journey to a potentially dangerous, hostile new galaxy; in search of a new home."
It's highly illogical we will get one. At least from the Milky Wayen species. I'm all up for seeing one from a new species though.
The Ark Initiative will be bringing with them scientists, engineers, doctors, soldiers, construction workers, farmers - anything that would be necessary to the Initiatives survival. A brothel is not a necessity, no matter how much you, or I, wish it so.
Maybe in the next game, after all the species have settled and have began producing offspring. The next generation would get to choose and if they want to sell themselves, that's their choice.

Is a brothel that unlikely? Prostitution has existed as long as humanity and brothels were usually the first thing we established when settling in a new location. They helped attract settlers and convince those visiting the town to return, since it provided people with somewhere to wet their whistle... and not just at the bar. Ever wonder why they're ubiquitous in Westerns?

Ever wonder why they're ubiquitous in Westerns? I get that, but I still think it unlikely. You aren't just travelling by horse to a spot over yonder like we did in the days of yore. We're traveling through space, the space between space. It's more of a feat, and for that to work, everyone needs to contribute in a way that is beneficial to the Initiative as a whole. If it were me deciding who would come with us, prostitutes would be somewhere near the bottom of the list.
