Why was this image shown when this DLC was 1st announced?  Thanks to this image I was expecting Leviathan to be a super Reaper. That broke away from the Catalyst and went rogue and did it's own thing. Man was I shocked when it was revealed to be the race who made the Catalyst. |

Leviathan, I'm convinced, is actually a reference to a book written by Thomas Hobbs (particularly when one ties in Thane's reference in ME2 to the works of Thomas Hobbs and the fate of Rakhana). It's not entirely inaccurate. It does look exactly like a Reaper and it happens to be the daddy (or granddaddy) of the Reapers. It is, in a sense, the power behind the Reapers. Also, without Reapers, it's a threat to everyone. (Would have been a great follow-up in an ME4 game.)

Could be a tool the Leviathan's created to put down the Synthetic uprisings on planets. Effectively wiping the planet.
