First time since High school (over 12 years ago) I'm stuck working not one, both both of these. I get off at midnight on NYE, so no chance of actually having fun that night. Then again NYE is always a depressing let down. Anyone else stuck working these holidays?

Not stuck working but stuck home alone on both days because I have dogs. Ever since I got divorced, I've been spending ( nearly ) every Christmas and New Year's Eve alone. I choose not to leave my dogs home alone and I can't take them with me to my parents home, since they have dogs as well but theirs cant get along with other dogs, so I don't have much choice, I choose my dogs which I'm actually okay with. When I was younger it was all about partying but now at the age of 37, I'm kinda okay with just staying in and having a relaxed night at home  |

Got two weeks off as usual, company closed, we have to take those two weeks off. Not that I mind...
I only worked for a few hours on Christmas Day when I had a part-time job at a movie theater. That was ok. In Germany the 24th is when people feast and exchange gifts.

I did for 14 years on the trot, one year someone noticed that I hadn't had a single xmass or summer holiday leave period and they changed the duty rota so I wasn't going to work either and then got posted, their replacement was an utter throbber who preferred to pay me for the holiday I was forced to cancel rather than let me actually have time off ......almost caused a divorce that one what with having been on day on day off for 4 months in the lead up as well to cover others so they could cover the holidays ....

Going to be at work all day on Christmas and Boxing Day, animals need taken care of no matter what day it is unfortunately. But it's quite nice to work Christmas there really, the animals all get their own stockings, we give them all special Christmas dinner (ham, salmon, chicken, sausages..), there's tinsel around the place like on the outside of the pens and stuff. Pretty fun. I'm off work on Hogmanay though! Can't wait tbh. And on New Year's Day which is handy becuz hangovers.  Happy holidays BSN  |

Just quit my job (in a post office no less) so I am free this season. Just spent all of yesterday and this morning emailing the bloody accountant since they neglected to pay me my last cheque. Had to invoke the threat of a Employment Standards Act Complaint to get their butts moving. But I gots my money now so hurray.
I don't have much family and what little I do I don't particularly care for. Usually with any boss (with half a wit) I make them a deal. I'll take family stats but I get party stats(including Halloween, which isn't a stat here.) They always go for it and it makes me feel happy to work Christmas/Thanks Giving/Easter knowing my co-workers that do have families or kidlets can have a merry holly. And it helps to know I have New Years and some summer fun stats off.

I have a small shift today on X-Mas Eve...but it's a closing shift, so that might end up going absolutely crazy.  I have a regular closing shift for New Year's Eve, though, but I doubt I'll have any plans to do anything that night anyway. |

Yep. All work for me whole weekend. Usually work most holidays, depends how the shifts land. Never been that keen for any holidays so rather work than sit alone at home Works for me and I've been doing this for 13 years now |

Yep, regular work day for me. The only real downside to my job so far. We are a billion dollar company, and do business world wide. So I understand why they did it this way, but its still a bit annoying.
Though that could also be the fact that I'm dead tired right now, so its more annoying then it normally would be.

Boxing Day and potentially New Year's Day. Unfortunately for me, they will literally be the busiest days of the year, work wise. Will have zero support from on site management since stuff is closed, zero support from business managers since they are on holiday and the actual data to parse through is probably 30% more than usual. We're already behind on the Christmas lead up fortnight work, even with some people working Christmas Eve. Expecting an 11 hour Boxing Day tbh.
Fun times.
