thanks for your reply ^^
I think I might switch Leliana and Zevran depending on combat situations, other party members will likely be Alistair (as my tank) and Wynne (healer) so for Strength just level 'till I have 16 and then use the fade essences to get to 20?
I figured out you have a max of 39 talent points to assign (which includes the initial 3 at character creation and the 2 after the Joining and 2 after the Landsmeet) and that's without any talent tomes you can buy (during the official campaign you can buy 3 of them, and another during Witch Hunt) so I can give or take assign 42 talent points in total.
I also plan on chugging the weird darkspawn potion by Avernus
I've done a semi-build of this before with a Ranger, but she only had some sparingly dual-wield talents since I only grabbed the wolf summon (and proceeded to never use it after that) from the Ranger tree For Strength, yes this include the fade essences, technically you could aim for 18 (so 14 pre-Fade) and then get some gear with +2 STR to get to 20. You need 20 strength to wear the best light armor. You need dex 34 for the best bows and dex 26 for the best daggers. Getting +4 dex via gear isn't that hard, so 30 should be enough. You can probably save talents by ignoring deft hands if you bring another rogue along. I just hate having to switch to open locked containers. The main issue with your built idea is that archer is kind of bad until you get the expert/master stuff. While dual-wield is good with just auto-attack + momentum. Ranger is bad. No it's Swooping "Swooping is bad".

Awww man, all this talk is making me jealous. Adult life is catching up with me and it will only get stricter when children arrive in the next couple years.
I likely will never have the time to play DAO ever again.

At present I'm doing this one, but chances are I'll end up playing something differently anyway
And yeah, female Lavellan is my favorite Inquisitor...along with male Adaar...they're so tall

So I got started on my Brosca's playthrough today, and thought I'd make a little something here These are the accounts of Warden Recruit Liv Brosca - transcribed for her by Warden Commander Duncan of Ferelden Hoh boy, where to start...well, uhm...Greetings, name's Liv Brosca of...well, I'd say House Brosca, if I had a house that is, but I'm casteless so I don't. I've a beautiful older sis called Rica, who I love very much...and, a mum who...cares more about booze then her own kids, as for my da...never knew the bloke. According to mum he left just after I was born. Anyway, growing up as a casteless ain't exactly silk sheets and golden spoons, it's a lotta work. And when ya ain't pretty like Rica, ya gotta work with the tools ya have, which for me meant quick fingers and a silver tongue.
Anyway, today me and Leske were send to talk to some guy who'd been cheating ol' Beraht...turns out the bloke had been turning over lyrium -that's magic rocks the top-siders use apparently- So we made a deal with the bloke, got the lyrium, let the bloke go, sold one rock to a merchant Leske was friends with and turned the other one over to Beraht. And that all without spilling a single drop of blood. 'Course in this case my silver tongue was very handy 'cause Beraht wasn't happy we left the bloke alive, so we made up the story we'd had him killed out of sight and dumped into the lava. Oldest trick in the book but Beraht bought it.
Then he sends us over to the Proving grounds 'cause he'd been betting on some fighter who was supposed to be recruited by the Grey Wardens.
Turns out the fighter in question had been celebrating too early and was dead over drunk. So I put on his armor, fought in his name and...heh, got caught. Thing is, us "brands" ain't allowed on the Proving grounds, much less fight in a Proving, so the Proving master got all uppity and had me hauled off...took out some guards before they knocked me out.
When I come too I find out dear ol' Beraht had me and Leske brought over for a "chat"...and his lover Jarvia made it clear we weren't the only ones in danger...my sis was too. So what ya gotta do in that kinda situation? Well...fought our way out of course, killed Beraht in the process too.
We leave the hideout and who's there to greet us? The Proving master...and some guards, but also....the Grey Warden bloke who'd come to see the Provings! So he tells me after seeing me fight he wants me...ME, to join his order. Sod yeah!
Ah but...thing is, I didn't wanna leave my sis behind...but she insisted she'd be fine, so I went along with Duncan.
Though I gotta say...the surface is hella scary, there's just...so much of it, and the sky is so high up...and everything smells like things instead of dust and grime. So Duncan takes me to this place called Ostagar, where we're greeted by the human King...Cailan I think his name was. Very nice bloke, and he didn't even spit on me! Most nobles back home always spit on me 'cause of the brand, but up here everyone's so nice to me. It's all a bit overwhelming to be sure. Rica also almost made me cry with her farewell to my girl...damnit Rica

I'm attempting to lock my last two achievements, Trial of the Magician and Trial of The Lovers. I thought I had already done the Magician one years ago but apparently not. A few times I enabled the wrong trial during whichever area/quest, that was probably one of them. I'm about to do In Hushed Whispers now and I'm doing it on NM with Friendly Fire on so this will either be very interesting or very frustrating. If i can't do it with no health pots I'll dial it down. I'll either turn the difficulty down or at the very least turn FF off. I do love a good challenge, so I'll give it my best shot. If I can't do it, then I'll disable FF and possibly lower the difficulty. I do have one upgrade on regeneration potions, hopefully that will help. I'm a human archer. Once I finish with that, I'll pick up the others (Bull, Viv, Sera) and head to Skyhold and then pick up Cole and head for the Winter Palace. I never thought I would bother with Trial Of The Lovers but I might as well do it and get the last two done with. I think it's bugging me more to do Requisitions than anything else. Normally I can't get away from that requisitions officer fast enough.
Edit: NVM, I added (and removed) a rant that the trial didn't unlock after completing In Hushed Whispers, but all I had to do was refresh Origin and it's there now. Phew, I was ready to turn into a rage demon because I thought it didn't unlock. I did actually manage it on NM with FF on too.
Now it's time to pick up the other companions and get to Skyhold to do the last one!

I just finished a different game, and recovered from Covid, and decided to reward myself by starting my first official alternate run. I have always preferred a canon-only focus, but in joining some fun discussions on this board, and looking at all the paths not taken, I have been brainstorming a potential alternate world-state for some time now.
Today I started my Surana Jack-of-All-Trades Arcane Warrior warden. He is mostly sarcastic and irreverent, and fairly neutral morally. He likes to take pleasure where he can find it, so the current plan is to dabble with Morrigan, Cammen, Isabela, and ride off to Amaranthine with Zevran. He will parley with demons and cultists, lead a crime wave, and try out for the Crows. He will dual wield axes with daggers, and wear a plate helmet with leather armor pieces, focus on crowd-control spells, and take points in Stealing and Poison-Making. He does have to wait until specialization before he can dual wield, but I hollered in joy when I found out it was viable to have him wield a dagger with a shield as early as exploring the basement during his mage origin. I expect it will be a bit rough until I can acquire the extra points from the Fade, but I will tweak the build as I go to help encourage the fun factor.

Okay so...someone take Artbreeder away from me
'cause I may or may not have spend almost an entire day making my three main Dragon Age ladies also known as "if my ladies were real people this is what they'd look like" and "I may have reverted back to my original setup for my canon worldstate" (please don't kill me) From left to right: Raelyn Tabris - Kara Hawke and Gwyneth Lavellan (minus her vallaslin)

I've decided to start a new character today. Dalish is the only origin I have not played through fully yet. I did start one at some point, but didn't get far in that game.
It will also be nice to play through all the rogue quests and not need Leli in the party. I haven't played as an archer yet.
In terms of her behaviour, I often play open minded characters. This game I will try to role play from the mistrustful Dalish perspective. It's going to be tricky to view the world through a narrower lens, knowing so much about it.
That decided, my elf put a few arrows into humans at the forest. I don't trust how they acted all arrogant when they thought Tamlen was alone and then went full grovel mode upon realising he wasn't the only elf targeting them. Tamlen's meh reaction to shooting them was fun.
Lyna was absolutely heartbroken about her childhood friend going missing and kept clinging to the slight slimmer of hope.
I debated how she'd react to Duncan since he's a shemlen, but decided to be respectful. Lyna may have tried putting an arrow in him had they randomly met at the forest, but by the time they meet, when she is coherent, the Keeper has already informed her that he is a Grey Warden. Her clan obviously treats Grey Wardens with great respect. Lyna would also follow this general tradition. She is hesitant to trust him due to him being a sham nonetheless.
Lyna loves her clan and she is heartbroken to leave it, however, she also treats the invitation to join Grey Wardens as an honourable duty that must be performed by her people. She does not keep a grudge or considers it being drafted against her will, but she loves her clan and she is beyond sad that she is torn from it. The fact that Duncan was respectful and let her stay for Tamlen's funeral, though they were in a dire hurry, contributed to bettering their relationship a little bit.
The timing to tell her about her parents is indeed extremely ill. It's like, here is one more reason to hate all the shems out there. Now please step out into the wide open world and mingle with them.
During her trip to Ostagar, she stuck closely to Duncan and tried learning from him how to interact with the world.
At the camp I also debated how to react to Cailan. Since the King is an ally to Grey Wardens and welcomes her without malice, she responds politely to the initial greeting. However, once he mentions her people, Lyna doesn't restrain and uses the snark line about shems thinking of Dalish as vagrants.
At the camp Lyna almost quarters the Quartermaster for his little mistake and is sorely tempted to pick a fight with the Ash Warriors for the same reason. Her curiosity for lore wins over and she listens to their tale instead. She informs Wynne that the best philosophy against Darkspawn is to put arrows in them. She also considers helping animals a noble quest and agrees to search for the flower.

Got to show off my new Warden.
The opinions Lyna formed of her companions. Jory: That's the winner of the shem major contest? The best and the brightest? No wander they need help from the Dalish. Daveth: Not impressed by his career in thievery. Conclusion: These two have very low chances of passing the Warden test. Alistair: Heh a snarky GW sassing mage shem who disrespects him? Good. Although she was expecting more diversity in the ranks than meeting another shemlen #2974. Exchanges humorous jabs with this guy while Duncan rolls his eyes at their darkspawn distraction plan. Morrigan: The Dalish have magic so Lyna is not alarmed by it. The Circle mages are a lot more alien than Morrigan's skills. Lyna has experience hunting in the forest and following sentient prey unseen, but she knows this isn't a common person because Morrigan confessed she watched their Wilds progress unnoticed. Morrigan's Mother: The Dalish are well attuned to the forces of nature. Lyna resorts to cautious politeness. Her intuition is screaming that this being radiates a lot of power. Battle Opinion: Does not like the sour faced shem, but he has the right idea. It would have been the most fun sitting in an ambush with Loghain. Post Battle: Asha'bellanar?!????!!!! D: D: D: She did not say I'm indebted to her, did she? Shut up, Alistair. Of course we're taking Morrigan with us. This is Asha'bellanar's wish! A Mabari on the road next to Lothering has led a pack of mindless darkspawn to get slaughtered by us. Smart boy! Almost as epic as the Halla. It must be the noble beast I've saved at Ostagar. I named him Tamlen. Perhaps his soul came back to watch over my perilous journey.

I saw a new DA2 mod on Nexus... "Couslie's Eyeliner for FemHawke" and thought, time for another go through. All my Hawkes look similar to the default Hawke, but I'll probably adjust the eyeliner once I get to the black emporium. i.imgur.com/6mOeFcv.jpgThis made me laugh. Hawke worked for Athenril for a year and made a name for herself in the underworld, but she has to ask a 15 year old boy who the coterie are. i.imgur.com/FRPfp8h.jpg

It's interesting to note on both of these occasions, whilst the questions read "What's a Coterie?" and "Who's Mythal?", the actual words aren't use by the respective characters in what they actually say.
Hawke asks the boy "is that [the Coterie] Athenril's rival gang or something?" and the Inquisitor says "Which is?" which some people have interpreted as them asking "what is the Temple of Mythal?" In which case the question is valid, since as far as the Dalish know, their gods never had places of worship...yet here we are. *shrug*
I think that's the problem with per-existing questions in dialogue with our characters saying something that's not even the question they asked
Also, in the part about temples, I actually think we visited another temple from one of the Elvhen gods (aside from the optional Dirthamen one during Inquisition)...the ruins during the Dalish origin, since it has a statue of Falon'din and has several allusions to it being used as a tomb. And while the Dirthamen temple didn't have an eluvian, I'd like to think all of the Elvhen temples at least at some point had one.

After what has seemed like an eternity, I have been playing DAI again (mixing it up along with RDR2 and MEA). It took a quick minute to get my bearings for Adaar, but in fairly short order she cleared up the Forbidden Oasis (miners need rings, too) and made it a fair way through the Temple. Haven’t opened Hissing Wastes yet, so need a few more shards to finish up there. Judged Blackwall to atone with the Inquisition, and completed Cullen’s quest. While in the Undercroft talking to Dagna, noticed this… Was there always a bed down there…??!? And who the hell is sleeping in a smithy built into the side of a mountain top waterfall? Also went to the Storm Coast with Bull. Saved the Chargers. I’ve already experienced the content for the alternative and while it’s a valid RP choice, it isn’t really my cup of tea. In terms of the main story, currently poised to strike into the Arbor Wilds.

In terms of the main story, currently poised to strike into the Arbor Wilds. Shit man, RDR2 alone already is pretty time consuming. How are you managing to do them all at once? Heh. You're not wrong. The simple answer is; PT# 6, 715 hours in DAI. PT #4, 657 hours in RDR2. PT #2, 115 hours in MEA. (I know those numbers are tiny for many here, but DAI holds the highest play time on any game I've got on a digital storefront). No idea what I racked up with DAO and VTM: Bloodlines back in the day on CD, but they're probably both a lot more. Other than MEA, I've seen - probably several times - all the side content these games have to offer. So I'm playing a different one each night and just cruising through at my own pace. If something comes along that is new and grabs my attention, I'll probably drop all three and come back another time. The RDR2 PT is new, but the DAI one start in early 2020 and the MEA one in 2019.

Modgud Cadash banished Corypheus into the Fade (while pretending he didn't want that all along) and then went back to Skyhold to celebrate. During the party, Cassandra mentioned she expected to be made Divine. Thomas Hawke won't be happy to hear that someone who wants the Circles back holds that spot.
So now that playthrough's World-State's ready for DA-D. That's my eighth.
