I think i'll probably go for 6, or 4 for male Ryder. Don't really like any of the male hairstyles tho.

I've chosen to look on the bright side. The character creator is shit, but at I can make my face look like a Jackson Pollock painting. Before I respond, I'd like to say that the following is my own personal opinion and not intended as adversarial towards your opinion. (I've had problems in the past with my comments being misinterpreted as overly negative when I did not intend that, so I added this disclaimer up front ) TBH, I think calling this CC "shit" is a little OTT. I've seen some very good looking Ryders so far, and all of 'em have been fairly unique. Granted, there is a very small sample size to judge off of at this moment, but I think I'm seeing some decent possibilities for making your Ryders look a little more unique than alot of people on here seem to think. As I said, I could be wrong, and I'll be the first to admit it if I am, and I'll certainly not argue against people who want more options for customization. I just think that this CC is different from what we were expecting, and people are reacting negatively to that (and other reasons too! I'm not trying to minimize anyone's complaints!) Having each preset have it's own eye/nose/mouth shapes is a bit off putting, but I look at it from a different perspective, and I hope I'm correct on my thinking. Namely, the people comparing this to the OT CC are missing something, in my opinion. Each preset is a scan of a real face, not a mix of random, artist created features. Each presets feature sets "fit" each other a bit more naturally, and you can change "enough" (hopefully) in the cheek bones, the eye height and spacing, the nose size and location, etc, where we can have a fairly broad range of unique looks, where all of the features kinda fit each other a little more realistically than alot of the different eye/nose/mouth shapes from the OT CC did. Quite often I'd only use 1 or 2 different shapes for each feature, 'cause otherwise everything just looked "off." I think the way to go about using this CC the "best" way, is find the eye/nose/mouth shape you prefer from the different presets, then customize accordingly. I'm definitely going to be attempting to make a few unique looking Ryders from each preset once I get my hands on the game, to use as a vid on my YouTube channel, and if I manage to make the CC work the way I think I will, it may just smooth a few ruffled feathers (or not, that's ok too!). I'm not gonna lie and say I wouldn't have preferred something closer to DA:I's CC, but I really think I see some good potential in this one here. Time will tell if I'm right or not!

Okay, now that I've watched the vid I can accurately comment.
Firstly, having been scanned off real people why do they look so damned cartoonish in the CC?
While I'm obviously not pleased with the lack of ability to mix and match, I do like that the sliders have numbers which will make it much easier to reset than working off of photos taken of the grid in DA:I, lol.
I'll likely end up choosing the face model with the slopiest nose and most arched eyebrows, but I'll more likely swap back and forth between faces multiple times before settling on one.
The makeup is bizarre. No one splatters their eyeshadow on their foreheads, BioWare! Gah, I've been saying for years they should hire a style consultant *sigh*
I'm not pleased, but I am grudgingly accepting. The character creation threads won't be nearly as diverse as the DA:I one, sadly, but hopefully we'll get less derpy pictures to post?

So everyone's plan on making their Ryder look like X or Y actor/actress/model doesn't apply anymore which is a bummer. Hoping I can at least have my planned personality come across in her look.
The tattoos and fresh scars look really bad. Like, my cat attacked me or I burned my face ironing. All the reviewer playthroughs look like clowns.

Welp, I'm going to see what I can do with female preset #9. Hopefully I can come to terms, and make her my Ryder. We'll see if improvements come down the patch pipe. Dammit, BioWare, I want to love this game. #9 looks pretty.

Hey~! This is my first post! Lol. Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone has posted anything like this yet, but I took snips from the videos they've released of the CC presets so you can see them side by side. I'm not sure if this is the thread to talk about this, but it looks like DadRyder might change in appearance based on the preset you use (similar to DA2). BroRyder:SisRyder:Not sure if I did the spoiler thing right, lol. I guess we'll see. It's not like they don't have references Averages for each country based on multiple images. (Apologies if this image has been referenced already, I'm new to the board and I only checked the last 12 pages or so of this thread)

I don't get it.. what's wrong with this CC, why are people unhappy? Due to the fact that once you choose a face you cannot change the shape of the eyes, nose, mouth, or select different eyebrows means that Ryders will be significantly less unique. There are way fewer choices to create what feels like your own character, and so it feels like a major step back compared to prior Character Creators. Dragon Age Inqusition was very advanced, and many of us were hoping for an improved model.

The CC in DA:I didn't suit me. I like to make my avatar and replay the game with that character in several different settings. I just could never make the face again. Sure I could restart, but then it would always be the same class and world state. And it was difficult for me to make characters that I was really happy with. It was too freeform for me, didn't know where in the grid the marker was when trying to sculpt.
I have seen several presets that I really like. FemRyder 1, 4, 6 and 7. Can see myself doing many PT's when I get my characters right. Think that nr 1 will turn out to be my favorite. This will probably be the first time that I will have an asian or a black avatar that I am really happy with so that is a plus for me. Not saying it could not be done in the earlier games, simply that I was having a difficult time with it.
No facecodes in DA:I really made the game less fun for me so being able to use my Ryder in different PT:s is great! Really looking forward to seeing others creations as well.
For me personally this CC feels better, the DA:I version is awesome but too free for me so I was never that happy with my creations. If I had been able to download others wonderful creations it would have been great. Then I would have used that downloaded creation as a preset and then tweak until happy and sailed forth. Much like I will do with the scanned faces now. I can see how someone who really enjoyed the CC in DA:I would be disappointed but personally I feel a bit relieved. I know I will be able to get several of the presets I enjoy to look good and then I can play.
I do miss freckles and such things. It really adds to the CC so hopefully we will see something like that added. Hope that future patches will offer something to those who misses the DA:I-version.

I ended up taking phone pictures of each grid before rerolling a character. I wish there had been numbers, so I totally hear where you're coming from. I do think the fact that the sliders have numbers is amazing. But not being able to change nose, eye, or mouth shape? Just seems like a huge step back.

They outsourced to the "Need for Speed" Ghost Games people to make their Nomad run like a car (on alien world with variable atmospheric pressure and gravity and they want to play race cars with it). Heck, they even stole SWTOR developers to work on MEA. Maxis is one of EA's subsidiary, they even have family toggles and randomizers. *exhales....* oh well... mods! Why stole? There's all part of Bioware. MMO runs on a constant development cycles. Outside the current allocation to revamp the game into a streamlined singleplayer experience, they haven't been true multiplayer content in SWTOR since 2014 (and they FINALLY have one up next month) The people who are responsible for these content are the ones who spend years on MEA team, making levels and planning out environment. The current player base have been in constant limbo while EA constantly find a way to extort money out of player. Would you spend $15 every month for years just running on empty promises? Also, Bioware Austin is not in Canada.

Just slap some eye shadow on your characters forehead and give them neon pink hair. Also if we talk seriously, everything about Andromeda indicates that Ryder is not OUR character, it's more like Geralt, there are more lines said by Ryder that are scripted than the lines we pick, and we get to pick from like 2 lines that say the same thing in slightly different tones so..

Well that's weird, there are many games that do character creation and personal story much better than Bioware. I used to play Bioware games for that but somewhere around ME2, DA2 I realized that it's not going to be the same. I still play their games but for different reasons, I enjoy the combat and MP aspects of these games, and story is just.. alright.

sigh... What can I say that hasn't already been said already? The CC is massively disappointing and even if it's patched with more options, what could they reasonably do? At most we might see it overhauled for the next game :/ Like, I don't want to jump the gun before I touch it (or see a more in depth review), but man even compared to the OT it's rather limited. And it looks like creating biracial PCs will be even harder if not impossible
