I really hope that's not true. uhm...why not? They have been setting something like that up since BEFORE ME3 They have? Where in the trilogy did they set that up?

uhm...why not? They have been setting something like that up since BEFORE ME3 Because of the "connected to you permanently" part. I don't want to be permanently connected to my mom not even if it was the only way to "save her"? Hey at least she is not grafted to him in the form of a bionic arm like in Bionic Commando

Where in the trilogy did they set that up? the whole digital consciousness alien race that popped up in the Cerberus new network in ME2. The whole race just uploaded into a virtual reality world in the form of AIs and they had the tech to download themselves into living bodies and such

I didn't play the Bionic Commando so I don't know anyhing about it. also you do not know what they meant by "always connected" Oh in the latest remake of the game turns out that the protagonist's wife whom he has been looking for the whole game had actually been killed, turned into a bionic arm and grafted onto him as a prosthetic limb so it had been with him the whole time...yeah don't ask but it was quite funny in a sad way.

Well I understood it literally, that they grafted you with a chip that hosts SAM or something along those lines. That it's permanent and maybe even invasive. I hope that I'm wrong and I should just read less sci-fi. Ok, that really is sad...

Bio mentioned that there is a Salarian crew memebr in the Tempest with an extensive amount of dialogue. I wonder if that is Mordin's replacement? Perhaps, I should ask, what is so special about this character that deserves so much from the Word Budget? ... and don't tell me it's romance.... Yeccch!

For one he's our pilot, so he's as important a character as Joker, who also had dialogue comparable to that of our squadmates. Also, they've said before that the character with the least amount of dialogue in Andromeda has more lines than the characters with the most lines in the trilogy. Presumably we're just talking major and recurring NPCs here, but that still means we'll get to know everyone a whole lot better than in past ME games, regardless of whether they're a romance.

Interesting you say that.
Joker is someone I did without in ME2. Useless, really, unless you were bored and wanted to waste time. I think of him and EDI as a side show to the main plot. I visited all the crew mates in the Normandy because I'm a completionist. Nevertheless, Joker and the Doctor, while "mandatory" in a navy spaceship, served no other purpose. The game is won without them.
The Salarian may be out Tempest Pilot / Navigator but since there are no space battles and we can't control the Tempest ourselves, so what's the point? Besides, if you recall the original trailer, Ryder/Dad touched a few points in the navigation panel and off we went, with the benefit of the Salarian doing the "piloting". It's the Pathfinder and Ryder's decision that will determine our winning strategy. Our Tempest Pilot / Navigator seems ancillary to the main story arc. Yet, "significant" Word Budget allowance was given.
Very strange. Does this char exist for comic relief?...

What is so strange about creating atmosphere? 99% of NPC you meet are not needed for "solving the game" and depending of the game up to 75% NOCs are not needed for the main quest\story-line. Does it mean games can exist without them? Joker and characters like him is a very important part for RP in RPG, for establishing the setting, indicating Protagonist position and its relation to the game-world. Obviously, to do all of this they have to get a lot of text and screen time.

I don't think so. Unless SAM really is something more than a VI/AI.
