So for some reason the resource library thread isnt working on my work computer, so i apologize if this is covered in it.
I am just starting out on DAIMP, and it seems all the matches that I get are Ferelden Castle against the dragon. I have nothing for gear/promotions, and I know both of those will help solve a lot of problems, but I do want to be able to play correctly.
I have picked up that the map mechanics are much more difficult than a standard map with flanking enemies and all that, but where it all falls apart is at the end. Pugging is always a mixed bag, and communication can solve some of these problems, but I have no idea what needs to be done against the dragons. I tried looking for some videos on youtube, but there do not seem to be any detailing the best way to deal with the dragons.
Links or advice are greatly appreciated.

Since you are new to this game and probably play with new players as well, the best way to strip dragon's health is to shot it with trebuchet while it stands on the tower. There are two towers and two trebuchets on the opposite side of each tower. Here is video:
When dragon start to do it's wings thing, best solution is to be as far as possible, or as close as possible (until you get PI Amulet).

The best way is to arm trebuchets as soon as you enter zone 5. Split up and arm them at the same time. You need to turn the wheel 4 times IIRC and then only once when dragon is on the tower, that will save you lot of time. Key thing is teamwork, someone have to protect you from dragonlings while you are on the trebuchet.

I am sure it requires practice. How do I avoid the wing flapping attack where it pulls your toward it? I was behind cover, but still found myself getting damaged. I would honestly prefer to wait on playing those maps till I get some promotions under my belt, but I'll take the games I can get for the time being.

Cover won't help, you will still take damage. As I said, you must be as far as possible, or as close as possible, to avoid damage and not to be pulled. You shouldn't have many problems on Routine, maybe even Threatening, even with basic stats with team mates who know what to do.

Cover won't help, you will still take damage. As I said, you must be as far as possible, or as close as possible, to avoid damage and not to be pulled. Staying too far might be a problem though. The dragon can still hit you with ice/fire/lightning balls. And it's hard for teammates to barrier or revive you when it's needed. In my opinion staying close is better than staying far away... Sassa has explained about the trebuchet. Prepare the trebuchet when dragon is flying around. Ideally with the protection of your teammates as demonstrated in his video. You can wind it 6-7 turns if it's safe enough to do so. After the dragon lands, don't stay too far away from her.(But not too close either as you can be stomped on when she jumps...) Keep a distance where you can quickly run into the range of maelstrom(the white circle when she is doing the flapping attack) once she starts pulling the party in. Skills like Combat roll(Warrior), Fade Step(Mage), Evade(rogue) help you close in faster. If you are a melee who can afford to take some damage from the dragon, stay in front of her to draw aggro for your teammates. If you are not tough enough to tank, try to stay on the side of her at all time to avoid her breath attack. Also pay attention if you are too close to her legs, she may raise one of her legs then kick you as heavy melee damage. Try to avoid it when you see the sign. Hope this guide helps too. Fighting on the dragon map is harder than others because of the sheer amount of enemies. But the bright side is you get more exp and level up faster. If you are just starting, you also have a good chance of having better gears dropping from dragons on threatening and above.

One thing i find is easy to use vs the dragon is mark of death, as you put it once the dragon is up there, and hit it with trebuchet. Then you trigger it for double damage.

I was able to keep guard for quite a while, but it gets overwhelming quick, and I dont have the skills yet to solo Im used to bad teamwork from mass effect, but ill just keep working on making myself better and thus being able to share that with pugs

Using the trebuchet is the best way to bug the game on PC. (Dont know, ist the same on other Platforms?) When you kill the Dragon in the moment when he fly away from the Tower, the game are bugged. This sometimes happened when remote fighters killing him on the Tower, but the most time it happened with trebuchet. You will see it when the Dragon is on the Ground after this, his Health is down but he dont die. You can use the trebuchet or firing on the Dargon when his healtbar is high, but later let him landing on the ground. Btw, i am sure you dont have the Challenge with killing 5000 big Creatures. The small Dragons are very good to finish this Challenge. So no Need now to kill the Dragon very fast. Yes, many times my game bugged while they using the trebuchet.

I was in matches with 2 keepers and an one of the Saarebas and received almost zero barriers throughout the whole entire match, despite being the only tank. There is nothing you can do about that... But there are pugs who like to team play too. Add them quickly to your friends list(or whatever is the equivalent on PS4) when you run into such players. Also if you're playing a melee like Legionnaire, it might be better to go directly under the dragon's belly and start attacking on one of her legs when she lands. It's relatively safe as you won't be damaged by her pulling or breath attack. Still need to pay attention when she turns and jumps though. If you have upgraded shield bash, use it on the dragon when she has guards on. It'll do some decent damage to her guard even if you don't have high level weapons. Once your lego reaches around level 15, with the right build he will be very hard to kill in routine/threatening. Btw, i am sure you dont have the Challenge with killing 5000 big Creatures. The small Dragons are very good to finish this Challenge. So no Need now to kill the Dragon very fast. Good point. But only do so when the party is in relatively good shape. You don't want to risk being faded or wiping only to kill a few more dragonlings.
