"Hi Alec. The meeting with Anderson and the Council didn't go too well. Not really surprised... though things may have been different if Cerberus wasn't involved. Neither of them were willing to provide support to fight the Collectors, even worse, the Council doesn't take me seriously. Called my mental state "fragile" because I said the Collectors work for the Reapers. They don't believe in the Reaper threat. Tell me that I've been manipulated by Saren. They're sweeping everything under the rug and I'm the one having mental issues? Fuck them. I can do this without them. But it's good they offered to reinstate my Spectre status. Hope it's of some use. When the meeting was over, Anderson told me he still tries to rally support against the Reapers, but he's hitting a wall with the Council. Stubborn idiots. I asked Anderson where Kaidan was. He's still with the Alliance, promoted, and on a special mission, but everything's classified because of my ties to Cerberus. I'm disappointed. I thought Anderson would tell me. I could use a good friend for this mission, but I guess that's out of the window. I spent some time on the Citadel afterwards. Been to parts I've never been before. It's a great place to explore and shop and I bought an upgrade for my rifle. Couldn't resist. The Citadel itself looks better again. A lot has been rebuilt in the two years I was gone. It's still fresh in my mind what the Presidium looked like when we used the Conduit. I'm also back to being officially alive. The human C-Sec captain, Bailey, helped me out big time. Would've taken a lot longer to do this the standard way, but he just pressed one button and it was done. Neat. With everything that went wrong, my visit wasn't a complete waste of time. I picked up our first addition. Kasumi Goto, a master thief. She seems nice. Cerberus promised her my help with a personal issue. Just great. Don't get me wrong, I'd have helped her anyway, but it pisses me off that Cerberus already promised it without consulting me first. Oh well, whatever. What matters is that I have at least 2 people around me that I can definitely trust. Makes this whole thing easier. And I just came back from having a drink with the doc. It was nice to spend some time with her. Never really did that back on the first Normandy, but then I never knew she likes to drink. I also start to feel comfortable on the ship, especially in my cabin. It's got a big soft bed and a window at the ceiling from which I can look into space. You'd definitely love the view. -Dee" Pics:

I still love this thread. Got to play some ME:A multiplayer with friends. This is what I did last night with Ahmed Shepard: 0. I was surprised when The Illusive Man did not call to tell Shepard about the Collector Ship. Then I remembered that I did not have eight squadmates (Grunt was still in the tank). So... 1. Saved a ship that had been hijacked by Geth from crashing into a nearby planet.
"You wanted to see me Miranda?"
Miranda looked up from her monitor as Ahmed Shepard walked into the room.
"Yes. Please have a seat." She gestured to the chair in front of her desk and Ahmed sat down.
"Shepard," she began. "I have been reviewing the reports you filed for the Illusive Man. I have some... issues... with your latest reports."
"What seems to be the problem?"
"Well, your earliest reports were professional and concise. Exactly what I would expect from an Alliance Commander."
"So what's the issue?"
"Your reports have become less professional over time," she explained. "Sloppy language, editorializing, that sort of thing."
"Can you give me an example?" he asked.
"Well, in your last report you called me a cunt."
"No I didn't," Ahmed objected. "I called you 'cunty'. That's an adjective, not a noun."
Miranda pinched her forehead in frustration.
"Shepard..."
"No I mean it, Miranda. Calling you a cunt would imply that I think you are a cunt, which I do not. Calling you cunty merely described your behaviour and attitude in that situation, which is not a reflection of your true personality which cannot be described in a single word."
"Shepard..."
Ahmed let out a giant exasperated sigh.
"Okay, I will try to avoid describing you with less-pleasant in future reports. I promise."
"You promise to try to avoid? Or promise to avoid?"
Silence.
"I promise to try to avoid."
Miranda buried her head into her hands and tried not to scream.
"Anything else, Miranda?"
"How about your insistence at trying to add immature, childish, and lewd jokes to your reports?"
"Can you give me an example?" has asked innocently.
"How about your apparent love for the word 'cockpit'. especially in reference to me?"
Ahmed looked at her quizically for a moment before suddenly remembering.
"Oh right! I thought the Illusive Man would get a kick out of that one."
Later...
Jack looked up from the datapad in her hand as Ahmed Shepard approached.
"Hey," she said.
"Your plan is working. She is getting visibly frustrated."
Jack smiled. Ahmed tossed her another data pad.
"Here is the next report," he said. "Have fun."
2. Travelled to Illium, talked to an Asari about locating Samara. She told Ahmed where to go. Ahmed took a cab. 3. Talked to a Volus named Pitne For. Pitne was barred from leaving while the Asari police officers tried to solve the murder of his trading partner. 4. Ahmed talked with the police chief. She was not happy with Shepard, but she was even less happy with the Samara situation. Her superiors wanted her to detain Samara, but Samara's Justicar code would likely cause more violence if she was to be detained. The police chief allowed Ahmed to go find Samara in hopes that she would join Ahmed's mission and get off of Illium. 5. After a brief scuffle with some Eclipse mercs, Ahmed found Samara batting around an Eclipse lieutenant for information. The lieutenant refused to answer Samara, so Samara killed her. Impressed with Samara's methods, Ahmed was cordial with Samara despite her slightly confrontational attitude. Ahmed and Samara quickly came to an agreement: Ahmed would go find the name of a ship the Eclipse used to smuggle a fugitive offworld, and then she would join Ahmed's squad. Samara told him that Pitne For was being targeted by the Eclipse mercs and he might have some answers. 6. Ahmed was less pleasant with Pitne For this time, so when Pitne pled dumb, Ahmed pulled out his gun. Pitne For was then very forthcoming with information. Pitne had sold them some drugs that would boost biotic power, but he did not mention its bad side effects like Death. He also managed to copy an access card to their base. Ahmed took the card and went to go have a 'chat' with the mercs. 7. The Eclipse attacked him on sight, so Ahmed decided to let his guns do all the talking. Ahmed's guns can be very persuasive. The soon found an Eclipse merc named Elnora hiding in a room. Pitne For had mentioned all the Eclipse merc earned their uniform with a murder, and Elnora was wearing a uniform. She claimed she never fired her gun, and Ahmed not to shoot her right away, but then Elnora pulled her gun out like and idiot and paid with her life. 8. Ahmed fought more mercs, then found information implicating Elnora as the murderer of the dead Volus trader. Ahmed was then attacked by a gunship. It took longer than expected, but he eventually destroyed the gunship. He then found information that Pitne For smuggled Red Sand. Side note: File this under 'I wish I had been recording': at one point an Eclipse Vanguard somehow went from full health and barriers (on Insanity) to dead in a blink. It looked like the Eclipse Vanguard tripped and fell down the stairs and died. It was surprising and funny, and I wish I had been recording it because I will never see that again. 9. Ahmed ran into Niftu Cal, another Volus. This Volus was high on some drugs and thought he was some sort of biotic god. Ahmed thought it was funny and puched him over for laughs. The Volus went home to sleep it off. 10. Ahmed fought the Eclipse leader and some of her minions. Then Ahmed found the name of the ship and brought it back to Samara. Samara agreed to join his team and she swore an oath to his service so she not have to choose between his orders and the Justicar Code. Ahmed gave the police chief the evidence he found about Elnora and Pitne For, then he went back to the Normandy.

Jeph Shepard, Spacer/Sentinel/Butcher of Torfan: - Tracked the Shadow Broker to Hagalaz. Stormy weather during the day, frozen at night. SB had a ship that rode the storm, following the sunlight around the planet. Check out the view. - Had to break into the hatch. Omni-gel has been banned so we get stuck with programs that look like this. Never saw anything like it before and suspect I never will. - We found, I'm gonna go ahead and call it, Liara's boyfriend, a drell named Feron. He'd been tortured. Worse, removing him from the chair he was strapped into would kill him, at least until we disabled, um, something in the SB's own private rooms. Then we got to the SB. What in fuck was that thing? - He had a barrier that stopped energy and bullets, but not my fists. Hell, if I could headbutt a krogan on Tuchanka I sure as hell wasn't backing down from this fight. - In the end, he was killed, atomized by more energy that SB could handle. - When SB agents started checking in, wondering what was going on, Liara made a decision. She responded to them. There was a voice synthesizer that prevented anyone from knowing the true voice. Probably helped maintain continuity from when that monstrosity had taken over from whoever held the position before. It looked like it was going to be Liara from now on. Plus side is she'd have intel I could use and I wouldn't have to worry about being stabbed in the back with a shady deal. - Liara did visit me briefly on the Normandy. I was able to talk to her in ways I couldn't with Tali and Garrus, and certainly not with anyone who was affiliated with Cerberus. - Having done every damn side mission possible (except for Hackett's, but I thought that might be equally a suicide mission and I wanted this one done first), it was time to get the IFF from that derelict Reaper. And hope I didn't become indoctrinated in the process. Funny thing was that its mass effect fields were still active. I don't know about you, but given that the ship is the Reaper itself, derelict may not qualify when you're talking about a ship that still functions. Samara rightly pointed out that the dead bodies didn't seem to have been killed by geth, which meant there was a different enemy. Work logs made it increasingly clear that indoctrination had happened here. We needed to get what we needed and leave as quickly as possible to avoid the same fate. Not five minutes later the Reaper put up kinetic barriers. Strange that it hadn't done so for the Cerberus team. Unless it was after me. We soon saw husks and that seemed to confirm that the technology to create them came from Reapers, not geth. Damn, wish I could have the Council watching me right now. Would this be sufficient evidence? - Did encounter geth, but the first ones we saw were taken out by a hidden sniper. Assumed someone from the Cerberus team survived. What pissed me off was how Warp was ineffective against husks. Wish I had Miranda's slam power. Anyway, as we got in deeper, we finally saw dragon's teeth. These were bigger than any I'd seen before. - Then it got weirder. Three husks were gunned down. When I looked to see how was responsible I saw a geth. It was wearing a piece of my armor on its shoulder. It then put its rifle away and walked off. - Was able to recover the Reaper IFF. That meant that the Cerberus team got it before indoctrination and stuck around anyone. This one was obviously another case of TIM throwing his people under the bus. Now all we- had to do was destroy the Reaper mass effect core, causing it to fall into the gas giant it was orbiting, and escape before that happened. No problem. There had been a barrier between us and the core but that geth used a control panel to let us in. But it was swarmed by husks and went down. Fortunately, I had brought the M-920 Cain for this mission. The core didn't last long. We also grabbed the geth since no one had ever before captured one intact. This one was also atypical. - Miranda wanted to send it to Cerberus for research. I had no doubt they could find out a lot. Thing is, I was curious myself. The armor piece, the protecting me, the talking to me by name...that wasn't geth behavior as we knew it. I wanted to activate it and ask it questions. I'd never get the answers I wanted if it was with Cerberus scientists - or quarians, for that matter. Weird thing was that they installed it near EDI's AI core. Wasn't that more risky than in, say, the observation deck? Or next to Grunt? - I turned it on. We had a chat. I learned that a faction ("heretics") had split off and allied themselves with the Reapers. The other geth opposed those heretics and the Reapers. It seemed so improbable but it had been 300 years since they had been in contact with organics. A lot could have changed. I decided to make use of it. Also tried to get a name out of it, which proved impossible since they didn't have individual identities. EDI suggested "Legion". It was a Biblical reference but it made sense give it's 1,183 programs running inside its platform. Legion also told me the heretics were going to try to transmit a virus to the rest of the geth to change their thinking, essentially making all of them heretics. Legion wanted help stopping that from happening. I sure didn't want more geth attacking us.

After Eurydice Shepard saved Liara, fought on Feros and compromised with Wrex at Virmire we finally reach our final goal for the moment: Noveria. Talked with an IA agent called Parasini, with the typical cop attitude; spilled some foul language with a stupid asari involved in espionage against another corporation; shot at some dirty cops; had to deal with the typical corporate alligment with government. Oh! And I sip through expensive water. 300 credits a bottle, but damn! What a fine water. Ok. We confronted Benezia. Fought, shot and finally she break free from the reaper's control for a brief time. Have Liara with me, so you know the drill: drama and unresolved issues betweeen them. And we are forced to kill her. After more drama - and fighting - we stand besides her body. Me, Liara and Ashley Williams (since Kaydan was vaporized lefted on Virmire). Instead of moving I stand still and decided to talk to Ashley, in which she replies: "nobody licking any poles". Because you know... THAT WHAT IS IMPORTANT. Not the fact that seconds ago we killed the relative of one our crew members. Or that our goal, the location of the Mu relay, was transmited to enemy forces minutes before. Or that we encountered a queen from a killer race that everyone think is extinct. Licking poles, that's the problem. And people talk bad about James, hun?

"Hey Alec, we recently headed to Omega to pick up Mordin Solus. When we arrived we were greeted by two men of someone called Aria. They knew who I was and I was told she's the one that calls the shots around here, and was urged to go see her immediately. A bit forceful, but since I wanted more information about Mordin anyway that sounded like a plan. But first I stumbled over Zaeed Massani, another recruit for the mission. Bloody merc is what he is, but he seems alright for now. And of course, the Illusive Man arranged for my help with some mission Zaeed abandoned to join Cerberus. Again! This man is unbelievable. At least it's for a good cause, as he has to liberate refinery workers from the Blue Suns, one of the merc bands present on Omega too. After that, we met Aria. An asari, cocky as hell. I didn't like her much, but best not to be her enemy. I might need more information on Omega later on. I asked her about Mordin, and she told us he can be found inside a quarantine zone. Someone had set loose a plague in the slums of Omega, and it affected all species except humans and vorcha. We were allowed to go into the quarantine zone in order to find the doc, and what we saw was pretty terrible. Bodies lying around, logs to listen to that painted a very sad picture about what happened there, and Blue Suns and vorcha battling each other. But I also could help some of the people there, so that was nice. We soon found Mordin inside his clinic and I told him I needed him for our mission. He said he couldn't just abandon his patients, but when I mentioned we're fighting the Collectors, he was all ears. He had already suspected the plague was engineered by the Collectors. Luckily, Mordin had a cure already and agreed to come along after the plague had been stopped. I offered to deploy the cure for him, and we actually managed. Had to fight a couple of vorcha and krogan, but everything worked out and I'm glad those who are still alive will be okay. Mordin now joined our team and Jacob and I briefed him earlier. While he is setting up in the lab my team and I will look for Archangel, who's also on Omega, next. Just a little nap before heading out again. By the way, Omega itself is quite the shithole compared to what I've seen of the Citadel so far, but I bought some great equipment, and it's got a night club, dancers and booze. Might check that out soon if I have time. It's been a while since I just went out and had some fun. Talk to you soon. -Dee" A few pics: Wooohoo, one-shotting enemies is sooo satisfying. No deaths either! The Winfiltrator has entered the scene Although I expect some deaths during Garrus's recruitment I had a glitch where Kasumi was stuck again... I often have that when bringing her. It's so annoying, but at least at some point she got killed, and after reviving her she was back in the game.

Hoping I can bang out Legion's LM before I get needed sleep, then the SM and Arrival tomorrow. Jeph Shepard, Spacer/Sentinel/Butcher of Torfan: - Headed to Heretic Station to destroy the geth heretics. I figured I might want a quarian with me because they knew geth best. When we got there, Legion came up with a "new" alternative to destroying the heretics, which was rewriting them. Fortunately, the geth could not come to a consensus on which action to take, leaving it up to me. I had no qualms about destroying the heretics. If they could decide to worship the Reapers once they could do it again. No loss. - Did have to break up a fight between Tali and Legion. Legion was going to send quarian plans to the geth and Tali didn't like it. I told them it would leave us vulnerable when the Reapers arrived if they ended up at war over this. They agreed and Tali compromised by giving him some non-classified intel. - We had one last mission to go on, choosing the shuttle because the IFF installation had temporarily slowed some systems down on the Normandy. For reasons only Miranda knows, she decided to pile all eleven of us into the shuttle and then have me pick my squadmates when we got to our destination. Strange, but whatever. This turned out to be a major fuck up. We returned to a ship void of the crew, save for Joker. The Normandy had been attacked by the Collectors and a lot of the crew sacrificed themselves to allow him to make his way to the AI core and remove EDI's restraints. Once nothing was holding her back, she was able to open the airlocks and eject any remaining Collectors. No crew died as a result since the ones who weren't dead had been taken to the Collector ship. The Collectors apparently decided it was best to leave rather than blow up our shuttle as it returned. Wasn't sure how I felt about EDI being unshackled, but admittedly not doing so would have left the Normandy in the hands of the Collectors. Miranda threw a fit, blaming Joker, but as I saw it she was more to blame. Had I just left most of my squadmates behind as per normal, this would never have happened. Instead, we followed Miranda's bright idea and took everyone. Yeah, I went along with it, but no sense blaming Joker. Can I tell you creepy the CIC looks when it's empty? - I decided we couldn't wait to go through the Omega 4 relay anymore. Whatever I thought of Cerberus, the fact is that these men and women were willing to risk their lives to fight the Collectors. They deserved a chance to live. Besides, Kelly and Dr. Chakwas had both been taken and I had a soft spot for the both of them, as well as a few others. And one final reminder of what I've sacrificed for this mission. - We made it through the relay. It was...well, we saw the remains of countless ships. We were also attacked, meaning that just getting through the relay wasn't enough. It was also necessary to survive what was on the other side. Fortunately, all the upgrades we had made kept the Normandy intact, though we did crash land on the Collector Base. - Our route to where we thought the crew were being held required someone going through a ventilation shaft and unlocking security doors. Jacob volunteered but he wasn't the expert we needed. I chose Tali. For the fire team leader, Miranda volunteered herself. Jack objected and I didn't have time for their bullshit. I picked Garrus. I took Zaeed and Jack with me and removed some heat blockers preventing Tali from moving forward. Finally, we got there and saw a number of people in transparent pods. Some were colonists from Horizon and was saw one melt down - alive - before our eyes. We immediately got out crew out before they suffered the same fate. Dr. Chakwas said they others had been melted down and sent through some tubes. I couldn't guess why but didn't think it was for any purpose I would like. The crew was in no shape to defend themselves on the trip back to the Normandy. I sent Mordin with him because he could also help them on the medical side of things once they arrived. - For the next fire team, I did allow Miranda to lead. I knew I was taking Jack with me so there would be no conflict between them. Samara was going to use a biotic barrier to protect us from seeker swarms but I thought extra biotics would be useful. My other choice was Jacob. I have to admit that Samara maintaining her barrier for so long was beyond impressive. - In heading toward where the tubes led, I decided to bring Miranda and Jacob with me. Not sure why. Started this whole mission with them and was going to end it with them. What we found was a metal human skeleton. It was a human Reaper. The biomass of the melted down humans fed directly into this thing and was bringing it to life. That was the most disgusting thing I'd ever seen. I imagine that has happened to countless other races throughout millions, if not billions, of years. It wasn't going to happen to us. There would be no human Reaper. I destroyed the tubes and it fell to wherever - somewhere below. That's when TIM sent a message and asked me to save the Collector Base for study. That was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard. No, couldn't risk it. I knew how indoctrination worked and was unwilling to risk this thing turning those who studied it - the Reaper and the base - against us. Because that's exactly what would happen. I said no and told him our association had come to a close. He ordered Miranda to stop me from destroying the base. She impressed the hell out of me by resigning. Even she knew that technology did not belong in human hands - or to anyone who could be indoctrinated, which was all of us. - Just as the charges were set, the Reaper skeleton rose up to attack. We did take it down, this time for good, but almost went with it. Made it back to the ship just in time to high tail back through the Omega 4 relay. No casualties, which is a fucking miracle. TIM wanted to chat with me, claiming I was costing him time and money. It was clear what he valued most. I'd seen how he threw away the lives of his own people to study the derelict Reaper, the way he put human colonies at risk to get what he wanted. How could he be trusted? Couldn't. I ended it for good. And do you know what I got from my squad and crew for doing so? 100% loyalty. I came for them when he would have abandoned them. Now, we were on our own, not beholden to the Alliance, the Council or Cerberus.

I played a lot of Ahmed Shepard yesterday. I will probably have to divide the details into multiple posts. Ahmed Shepard: 1. Disabled Collector Ship: a. The Illusive Man called the Normandy and informed Ahmed that he had intercepted a Turian distress call. Apparently the Turians had intercepted a Collector ship and managed to disable it. The Illusive Man wanted Ahmed and his team to check it out and get information about the Collectors. b. Ahmed took Miranda and Mordin and boarded the ship. Once inside, Miranda noted that it looked like a giant insect hive. They were prepared for a fight, but no resistance was encountered. They went exploring. Ahmed Shepard looked at the pile of dead bodies and felt his anger boil. Mordin said they had likely been discarded after being used as a control group in experiments. Is that all that humans were to these beasts? Experiments?
Husks, Scions, the plague on Omega, kidnapping entire human colonies, and for what? Ahmed gripped his pistol tighter. This had to stop.
Time to move.
c. They came across a dead Collector. Apparently the Collectors were examining it. According to the data, the Collectors were once Prothean, but now heavily modified and repurposed for the Reapers. An interesting revelation, but it changed nothing. d. Picked up shotgun training. e. Came to an extremely large open area filled with pods. It became obvious that the Collectors were planning to eventually target Earth, but for what purpose remained unknown. Their mission to stop the Collectors remained unchanged. They came across a computer console and used it, getting the data they needed but also activating the Collector's trap. The Normandy experienced a power surge, and the platform Ahmed and his team was standing on rose into the air, and the Collectors came in trying to kill Ahmed and his team. Ahmed managed to hold them off while EDI regained control. f. EDI told the crew that The Illusive Man knew the Collector Ship had been a trap but sent them into it anyway. Ahmed was angry. Ahmed fought his way out of the ship and back to the Normdandy and escaped to safety. While ultimately Ahmed agreed that The Illusive Man's ploy was the best option, he was not happy that Illusive Man did not tell him about the trap. If there is one thing Ahmed was good at, it is holding a grudge.
He had put past 'indescretions' of Cerberus aside while they worked towards a common goal, but it was apparent that their interest in Ahmed stopped short of their goals. Ahmed vowed to no longer turn a blind eye towards Cerberus. He would continue to work with them until the Collectors were stopped. Cerberus better hope that they never crossed paths again after that.
2. Samara's loyalty mission: a. Samara told Ahmed that the criminal she was chasing was her daughter, now going by the name Morinth. Morinth was an Ardat-Yakshi, the result of a genetic defect that caused the Asari mental bonding process to kill the partner. Morinth was addicted to the exctasy and strength it gave her, and Samara had spent many years trying to chase her down and kill her. Samara asked Ahmed to go to Omega to find and help her kill Morinth. b. Ahmed and Samara found the mother of Morinth's latest victim. With her permission, they investigated the victim's room and tracked Morinth down to the Afterlife's VIP lounge. Ahmed acted as bait and managed to attract Morinth's attention and she invited him back to her apartment. c. The aftermath: Ahmed sat on the couch in his cabin, wordlessly staring at the wall. He played with a Rubik's cube in one hand while he tried to sort of the day's events. His mind was a fog.
He remembered going with Morinth into her apartment, and they talked. She moved closer, then onto his lap. Then...
Ahmed closed his eyes and tried to think. Recalling the event was difficult. Morinth must have been trying to force her mind mind on him when Samara burst into the room. There was a struggle. They both asked for his help. He went to help Samara...
... only it was Morinth left standing. Even now he was mystified as to why he helped Morinth, a murderer. Morinth was grateful however and took on the mantle of 'Samara', agreeing to help Ahmed finish his mission.
Ahmed laid the cube on the table. He could not go back and change time; he was stuck with the choice he made. The best he could do was to keep Morinth separated from the rest of the crew (at least Samara was also reclusive) and hope she met an unfortunate accident along the way.
Side note: I did not expect to have enough charm or intimdate to actually choose who lived or died on Samara's loyalty mission.
In a previous 'story' I wrote for Ahmed, I speculated that Mordin and Samara would be on the Reaper IFF. It appears that particular 'Samara' would now be Morinth. Sometimes I suprise myself.
For the record: I chose Morinth because I want a second Shepard playthrough where Morinth survives the suicide mission. I have at least one other Shepard that chose Morinth but killed her off in the Suicide Mission anyway.
I decided to headcannon this playthrough by having Shepard choose Morinth because he was confused instead of a clear decision.

Ahmed Shepard (continued): 3. Recruited Tali: a. Following the Illusive Man's dossier, Ahmed went to Haestrom. Quickly discovered that the sun's radiation kept overloading his shields. He needed to stick to the shade to keep his shields. Ahmed was then attacked by Geth. Geth gunfire also overloaded his shields. b. Managed to find a comm unit and talk to another Quarian. The Quarians were on the planet for research, but had been attacked and overwhelmed by the Geth. c. Picked up the Tempest (finally!). d. Ahmed made his way to where Tali was located. Only one other Quarian, named Reegar, was alive. Reegar kept a Colossus busy while Ahmed flanked it and destroyed it. Reegar survived and went back to the fleet with the research data, while Tali joined Shepard's crew. 4. Miranda's loyalty mission: a. Miranda told Shepard that she had a twin sister named Oriana. Miranda told Ahmed that Oriana was being moved to a new location with her family, and that she feared her father would interfere. Ahmed agreed to help Miranda ensure that Oriana was moved safely without interference. b. The mission got off to a bad start when they learned that Eclipse mercs were getting involved. It got slightly worse when the Eclipse mercs attacked Ahmed and Miranda on sight, but then got slightly better when Miranda and Ahmed killed them. c. Ahmed and Miranda killed all the Eclipse mercs that stood in their way until they met their leader Enyala. There, Miranda discovered that her old friend Niket was working with the Eclipse to take Oriana away from her family and back to her father. Miranda killed Niket then Ahmed helped here finish off the Eclipse mercs. d. Once assured that oriana was safe, Miranda said that they should go. Since this was Miranda's mission, Ahmed did not argue the point and left. Miranda was sad that she did not go speak to her sister, but felt it was best for Oriana that she did not get involved. 5. Recruited Thane: a. Ahmed spoke with an Asari tranport worker named Seryna. Seryna told Ahmed that Thane was looking to kill Nassana Dantius. Ahmed remembered Nassana. Seryna took Ahmed to Dantius towers. There, Ahmed saw mechs shooting at Salarians. Ahmed destroyed the mechs. One of the Salarians survived and told him that Eclipse mercs were ordered to kill anyone alive in the towers. Ahmed gave the Salarian some medi-gel and went to go deal out some Spectre justice. b. Ahmed killed all the Eclipse mercs. He managed to save a few more Salarian workers that had been locked in closets. (He did punch one of them for pulling out a gun.) Ahmed got to Nassana just in time to see Thane kill her and the remaining Eclipse mercs. He asked Thane if he would join his crew and Thane agreed. 6. Tali's loyalty mission: a. Tali was accused of treason. Ahmed went with Tali to the Flotilla to plead her case. It quickly became apparent that the trial was merely a front for Admiral infighting over a proposed war with the Geth. b. Tali soon learned that Geth had seized the lab ship where her father was working. c. Tali and Ahmed boarded the ship and killed all the Geth. But data obtained from the ship made it clear that Tali's father had ignored safety protocols and networked Geth together which caused the Geth outbreak and endangered the Flotilla. Tali pleaded with Shepard to not present the evidence even if it caused her to be exiled. d. Ahmed presented the data as evidence, and her father was exiled posthumously. Tali was devastated and became angry at Ahmed and now refuses to speak to him any more. I actually had enough charm and intimdate to get her off without presenting evidence, but I had long planned to give the evidence and knowingly lose her loyalty.
7. Thane's loyalty mission: a. Thane asked Shepard for help. His son Kolyat had taken on a job as a hit man and was on the Citadel. He wanted Shepard to help stop his son from killing. b. Talked with Commander Bailey. Bailey he told Ahmed and Thane that a Drell had been talking with someone named Mouse. They convinced Mouse to tell them who had hired Kolyat. A human named Elias Kellam had hired Kolyat. c. They interrogated Kellam and he told them a Turian named Joram Talid was the intended target. Talid was running for office using an anti-human platform. d. They followed Talid until Kolyat showed up. Talid was involved in some other shady activities, and when Kolyat showed up, Ahmed was tempted to let Kolyat shoot him or maybe shoot Talid himself. Luckily, only a Krogan bodyguard was shot. Talid survived. e. Ahmed convinced Bailey to let Kolyat work for him under the table.

Isn't actually the other way around? The Normandy escapes and then the shuttle rendezvous with them?
Also, why is it Miranda's fault? Shepard has the final voice over any and every decision. If Shepard also thinks having a ménage à onze party with the rest of the squad when they are so close to their goal, why the second in command takes the blame?
On another topic, I'm trying to get the "True Blue" achievement. "Support the Alliance at every opportunity throughout the series". This means I have to play Arrival. Oh crap.

If Shepard also thinks having a ménage à onze party with the rest of the squad when they are so close to their goal, why the second in command takes the blame? You're probably right about the Normandy escape. I forget and I hadn't planned to do the SM last night because I was very tired. Did it anyway so likely missed things. As for who's at fault, you must not realize I write these from the perspective of Shepard, how he feels about things in the moment. Hence, he blames Miranda for deciding to send everyone to the shuttle. Also, it was more in context of her blaming Joker. She had more blame for the results than he did without a doubt. And I acknowledge that "I went along with it". The main point was that she was blaming Joker but he had no part in the decision to take every squadmate on the shuttle whereas she did have a role there.

"Hi Alec, I went to talk to Aria about Archangel, when one of her goons asked me to take care of a job for her. I agreed and helped out a krogan on her behalf. He was about to be killed and I had to stop that from happening. That's when I also met Helena Blake and that asshole Fist again. I was surprised to see them. Fist is still the same scumbag as before, but Blake seems to have kept her promise. Good for her. When everything was done I spoke with Aria about Archangel. He had pissed off every major merc band on Omega, Blue Suns, Blood Pack, Eclipse. He had harrassed them and even killed some of them for months and the mercs united to finally get him. They had cornered him, but weren't able to finish him off yet. They were recruiting freelancers for additional help, so that was our ticket in. Archangel was holed up in a building, the only way to get there leading over a bridge. The freelancers were supposed to be cannon fodder, crossing the bridge to keep Archangel busy, while a small team was trying to infiltrate the building from the back. When it was time for our wave to go in, we took the rear to get in a surprise attack for the freelancers. But Archangel was good and killed some of them even before we started our attack. Headshots, every single one of them. He hit me too, but it only took out my shields. That was when I got suspicious. He could've easily killed me like the others, but didn't. When we finally met him face to face, I knew why. It was Garrus! I was so happy to see him, and unharmed too. He was fed up with the bureaucratics on the Citadel and tried to do some good on Omega. We didn't have a lot of time to catch up, as Eclipse approached for an assault. They brought a heavy mech, but thanks to EDI's genius advice I had sabotaged it earlier and it killed Eclipse mercs left and right. We took all of them down and were able to catch our breaths for a little, when we heard an explosion. The mercs had breached the lower level. I took my team to take care of them and left Garrus to deal with anyone who came over the bridge. We successfully repelled the Blood Pack attack by activating some shutters to keep them out of the building, then hurried back to Garrus. Some of the mercs had breached the door and were already going up to get him. We dealt with them. The final group to attack were the Blue Suns. They brought a gunship, and mercs came in through the window. We managed just fine, when suddenly a rocket hit Garrus. We took down everyone who was left, including that fucking gunship, then checked up him. He looked bad, but he was still alive. We got him to the Normandy as quick as possible. The doc spent quite some time on him, and I was just talking with Jacob about Garrus's condition, when he appeared in the doorway. As good as new, just with some scars now. Tough guy, that one. Glad to have another person I can fully trust on board. After the tension eased up I made my rounds on the Normandy and made sure everyone was settled in nicely. I learned more about Miranda's past and what she meant with genetically modified. Fuck, Alec, her father had created her based on his own tissue, to build some sort of dynasty. She never had a mother, and she ran away from her father once she was old enough, and into Cerberus's arms for protection. I can understand why she sought help. And I'm willing to give her a chance. Both she and Jacob seem alright enough, even if they work for Cerberus. I guess I'll see where this goes. On my way to the bridge I overheard some of the crewmen talking about another missing colony. Ferris Fields. This fucking sucks. Once we have enough people for this mission and are done with our preparations, I'm going to tear the Collectors a new one. After an exhausting last few days I was in the mood to go out and just drink. I asked Garrus and Kasumi if they wanted to come along and we had a couple of drinks at the Afterlife. Good times, and I start to really like Kasumi. She's fun to hang out with. I hit the dancefloor since ages. Picked up someone, too. Don't even know his name, but it was nice to just let go and not think about anything at all, if only for a while. Now I'm about to do something that will be very hard on me. The wreckage of the Normandy crashed in a nearby system. Hackett sent an e-mail and asked me to put up a monument and find any sign of some men still unaccounted for. The crew had my back when we stole the Normandy to get to Ilos, and I owe them. I'm not sure I'm ready for it, but I want to do this. For them and their families. -Dee" Some pics: Ugh, 3 deaths at the Pyro section. Never had that much trouble with this guy before At least the rest went fine. The scene where Garrus gets hit by the rocket was just skipped somehow this time Gotta love ME2's bugs!

Garrus wanted Ahmed Shepard's help in tracking down Sidonis, but to do that they first needed to find a forger named Fade. They found an associate of Fade's down in the wards and convinced him to give up Fade's location. The associate mentioned that he was a former C-Sec officer named Harkin. Garrus mentioned that Harkin had always been a pain in the ass.
Harkin was working with the Blue Suns, so when Ahmed and Garrus showed up, Harkin ran and the Blue Suns tried to stop them. When they finally caught up to Harkin, Garrus roughed him up until he set up a meeting with Sidonis. Garrus then shot Harkin in the leg and went to go 'meet' with Sidonis. At the meeting, Ahmed Shepard kept Sidonis distracted long enough for Garrus to get line up a shot and snipe Sidonis dead. Betrayal repaid.

"Hey Alec. Just came back from Alchera. I found the Normandy, or what was left of it. She broke apart, different parts scattered around. I recognised the parts right away though. The CIC, the mess hall, the sleeping pods... No sign of the cargo bay. That's where Ash always was. I miss her. I found the bridge. I never told you it was actually Joker's fault I died. He was the last on board when we were attacked, refused to leave the Normandy behind. I convinced him to finally get to an escape pod and helped him in, but it was too late for me. There's no hard feelings though. Flying the Normandy was his life, and I can see why he didn't want to leave. The Normandy was his baby and he'd go down with it. Still, I wonder what my life would look like now. I found Pressly's data pad. It showed his struggle with accepting the aliens on the Normandy. But in the end, he liked them all, wrote he'd die for them. Now he never has the chance to bond with even more aliens. I saw the Mako, an escape pod. I found my old helmet. It was strange to hold it in my hands again. It was a huge part of my life. I took it back with me and now it's right here on my desk. But it also reminded me how I don't have my dog tags anymore. They never showed up again after I died. I guess they're lost, as is your ring I always wore with them. The ring I took from you after I regained consciousness. When I saw you buried under the rubble of the house we had hidden behind when we were looking for our families in all the chaos. The fucking house that was hit by an artillery strike and took you from me. I remember how the Alliance tried to drag me away from your lifeless body. I screamed at them to leave me alone. That I want to stay with you. I cried and resisted, but I was weak. I had no chance against two soldiers in my state. And I knew they just wanted to help me. At least I had your ring. I hate that I lost it. I did find the crew's dog tags though, 20 of them. According to Hackett's e-mail, those were all of the missing ones. 20 brave men and women in the service of the Alliance. I'm glad I found them all, and hopefully it will bring their families some closure. But Miranda is perfect, isn't? How do you beat that? Jokes aside, the whole plot is the problem, isn't? Look how the scene is structured to give Shepard the final "veredict" over it, so you can claim a few paragon/renegade points while at the same time the game gives you the impression of choice and consequence. We can discuss the inteligence or the purpose of the narrative, something that was beated to hell in the past, but I don't have a single problem doing it again. And I didn't suffered from PTSD because of ME3 endings. LOL You want my impression about the whole subject? In the end the game shows Shepard as stupid, a bad commander and one that can't even give coherent orders to his/her crew. Heck, we have ranks in the military or administrative division in companies to maintain order, build levels of responsability and to perform evaluation about the individual (in the military case we also have the continuation of command). But who has the final word over the decisions? Shepard. So Miranda can be a bitch and a stuck up person, something I also don't entirely agree in the context presented in the story, but the fault is not at hers. When she accuse Joker of incompetence she's just being... Miranda. You want to hear something that happened to me a few days ago? Like I said I'm doing the EGM achievement "True Blue" (there's also one for Cerberus lovers if you ask). While I was finishing ME1 I thinked to myself: "crap, I have to pass through ME2 to reach ME3. What a drag". It's funny. ME2 and ME3 don't have the most intelligent and coherent stories of gaming at all. They have moments that shine - and shine bright - but when you grab the single pieces and glue them togheter the result is a mess. Except they are extremely fun to play. But ME3 shredded ME2 to pieces. The combat is much more refined, the game is more dinamic and you have more liberty to build Shepard the way you want and powerfull as you want. For example a biotic in ME1 is a god, in ME2 is weak and the worst class ever and in ME3 is on par with everyone. The same goes in reverse order for the engineer, in ME1 it was weak, in ME2 good and in ME3 a powerhouse. So we have a top story that shine in the game's universe with "meh" combat in ME1 and a good story with extremely fun gameplay in ME3. And then ME2 became nowdays just "meh" in the story and combat department. OK. Departing to Vulcan, Prometheum and Atlas stations to save David Archer in the end. Oh and I pissed Mordin today, in which he replied that I can go f*** myself and if Shepard wants, he can leave the ship and return to Omega.

brfritos: I think you don't understand how I do my playthroughs here. I'm role playing. Each time I do a trilogy run, I get a new Shepard with a new perspective. This one doesn't like Miranda's attitude in this particular instance and so a comment is made in what I write. Consider it a journal. Prior Shepard's have said nothing about it. Perhaps some future Shepard's will be more annoyed. I don't care that she's "being Miranda". I fully understand her character. This particular Shepard doesn't give a shit why she's being a bitch; he's not interested in her casting blame elsewhere. It just comes down to role play and this particular RP has this particular disdain for her commentary.

I'll finally get my hands in MEA, my sister is returning from a trip to the US with a copy to me. I heard the case is empty, no disc on it. Go figure.
Anyway, the game is good at least or it was a disappointment in your opinion?
Oh yeah...
Saved David Archer. Holy hell, I had forgotten how powerful the scene is when you free him.

"Hey Alec, recently we infiltrated an Eclipse base to find a Cerberus operative. He was believed to be held in that base, and after we fought everyone inside, we actually found the guy. Dead. I wouldn't have done this mission if it wasn't for intel on Cerberus Eclipse may have obtained through the operative. Dumb of Cerberus to trust me with this. They must have expected I would not just blindly upload intel to them which actually has dirt on Cerberus. I'm still Alliance at heart, and I still despise everything Cerberus stands for. Anderson wrote an e-mail and said if this intel got public, it could do some serious damage to Cerberus. I hope it will. Then we went back to Citadel space and I helped out Kasumi. She and I went to Bekenstein to infiltrate a party of a weapons dealer and smuggler called Donovan Hock. He had killed Kasumi's boyfriend and stole his graybox, a neural implant. We took a shuttle to get to the party. Kasumi gave me a nice suit for this and a fake name for the evening, Solomon Gunn, including a history and a reputation. She had thought of everything. We brought a gold statue of Saren as a gift for Hock, where we hid our weapons and equipment inside. The plan was to infiltrate the vault and get the graybox back. We met Hock as soon as we arrived, bloody disgusting person. He denied Kasumi access to the party, so plan B was in order. Kasumi still came with me, but she stayed cloaked the whole time and I had to do all the talking. Together we were able to crack the security door to the vault and went inside. Hock had a huge collection of artifacts and fancy statues, but we quickly found what we were looking for. Unfortunately, as easy as it was to get in, getting out wasn't. Turned out Hock knew all along that it was Kasumi who was with me. He sent his goons after us, but we eventually made it out of the vault. Once outside, Hock surprised us with a gunship. Kasumi did some real amazing shit, Alec. She hopped onto the gunship and overloaded its shields. She's quite the acrobat. We successfully took him down after that and got out of this place in a shuttle. The graybox contained dangerous secrets, information that could implicate the Alliance. I don't know what it is, and it would've probably been a good idea to destroy it. But seeing Kasumi interact with it... it's clear how much it meant to her, how much her boyfriend meant to her. So I told her to keep it if that's what she really wanted. And besides, who am I to tell her what to do with it. Anyway, it's done. On a really positive note, I got some nice e-mails. One was from Dr. Michel, and one from Talitha. I was so happy to hear that she's feeling better, that she responds well to her medication. She deserves to find peace and comfort in her life. I'm glad I got through to her when I met her, glad she's safe. Talk to you soon. Yours, Solomon Gunn ;-)" Some pics: Oh, it is a nice vault indeed. Until... Headshot for a beautiful explosion afterwards, mahaha. Love it when that happens. Been some time since I told Kasumi to keep it. Time for a drink again I now have Assassination Cloak, yay! The Mantis did some great damage to the gunship's armor, that was really neat! In general I like this rifle, I wonder if I end up liking the Widow more. It's really exciting to try out all weapons. I died once in the Chief Roe section and forgot to activate Disruptor ammo. Died two more times later on Had some ammo trouble with the Mantis and Kasumi was glitchy as hell, but it still was a fun mission. As always!

I think it's a decent game. It's not, to me, as good as the trilogy. However, I also bought the trilogy more or less together rather than a game at a time with years in between.

After 3 drinks, the same swaying effect happens as the one after drinking with Chakwas, haha. It's possible to get that in other places in ME2, too: - the "mystery drink" in the bar at Nos Astra triggers it
- if Shepard mixes a purple cocktail from the red and blue drinks on the counter in the crew lounge and then drinks it
I wonder if there are others?
