Nick Shepard (Adept, Earthborn, Sole Survivor) got blasted through a fish tank then rescued by his two favourite people in the galaxy - Lieutenant Commander Ashley Williams and URDNOT BLOODY WREX (!!!), hunted down a devilishly handsome yet strangely familiar enemy then blew off some steam on the Citadel. That DLC is a lot of fun. Having Wrex back as a squadmate is basically my dream and the flashbacks of how Grunt got arrested are possibly the funniest thing I've seen in the trilogy. Ahh, I love Krogan Enjoyed the bar scene with Ash too. The banter made me smile. Also, it's a shame Maya Brooks debuted so late in the trilogy. She'd have made a good recurring character.

Colin Shepard is prepped for launch. He's a colonist/war hero/adept. I hope to get him moving along in ME1 later today but so far he's on board the Normandy SR-1 and has been summoned by Anderson. Here's a shot of him:

Heh, straight into another playthrough? You are a playthrough machine! I had another go at being a sniper solider on Mars, this time using the Mantis (i.e. attempting to snipe without using a save editor to unlock N7 guns that I'm not supposed to have). I can do it, but my playstyle became very slow and hesitant. I think that the Mantis, Widow and Javelin are much better as an infiltrator: cloak, sabotage to stagger, take the shot, reload, by which time the cloak has recharged, repeat. Even so, the shield-gate mechanic makes them a bit of a chore on Insanity. I don't think I would enjoy a Mantis/Widow/Javelin soldier playthrough. Video of me standing around hesitantly and not shooting very much:

Some spoilers for Grissom Academy without Jack: "Hi Alec. Man, of course it was Cerberus at Grissom Academy. When we approached the academy Joker already saw the Cerberus ships. After Cortez had flown us in and we met up with director Kahlee Sanders, who had contacted us earlier, we saw what they were doing at the academy. One student got dragged away on the foot by them. There was nothing I could do, I was behind a bloody window and couldn't get to this poor boy. Fucking assholes. At least we found two more students alive and sent them back to Sanders. We pressed on and found a small group of biotic students further in. They were exhausted, but held up surprisingly well. Their commander had died, so one of the students took over, Ensign Prangley. I sent Cortez back because Cerberus was closing in on his position and we couldn't make it in time, so we had to fight our way through to another way off the station - to the Cerberus shuttles. Liara, James and I went through the bulk of enemies, while the students followed us on the safer upper level and helped out with their biotics from there. Shortly before we reached the shuttles, I highjacked one of the large Cerberus mechs. I can't even begin to tell you how good it felt to just blow these fucks that tried to stop us up. I know, this sounds like I lost it, but honestly, Cerberus deserves all of it. I really wonder what the Illusive Man is trying to do here. He takes people, I get that. But what is he doing with them? Will he force them to work for him somehow? Or promise them something in return? Whatever it is, at least we got most of the students and Sanders out. Prangley didn't make it. Such a damn shame, I think he had potential. He was young and inexperienced, but he led the group and kept them safe until we arrived. And he died after he helped a fellow student, so he was brave too. I also actually met David Archer again. He looks good, healthy. I'm glad I got him out of this bloody experiment. It was a good thing Traynor noticed this fake signal. In addition to being able to get some students out alive, we can use them in support roles against the Reapers. Back on the Normandy I went to thank Traynor for that, and that was when she informed me that something was wrong with Cortez. Shit, man. This guy has it rough. I walked in on him while he was crying. He was listening to a recording, the last call of his dead husband, Robert. He told me how Robert warned him of the Collectors attacking the colony instead of even trying to save himself, so Cortez survived and his husband didn't. It definitely hit home, you know? I know exactly how he feels. I feel his pain, his grief. How he tries to keep himself busy to not think about it. If I had just stopped the Collectors earlier they would still be together. Well. What's done is done, I can't change it now. But I can at least be there for him. Back when I lost you, I had no one. Maybe it makes a difference, maybe not, but I let him know that he can always come to me if there is something he needs. Today was a little tougher on me than usual, with the students and all this crap, so I got myself a bottle of brandy out of the Normandy's stock. I've been sober for 6 months, but I was so close to open it. I wanted some drinks so badly, but then I also didn't. It was weird. In the end I haven't touched it. I thought... perhaps I should save this for some other occasion. Perhaps I will have a drink with James and Cortez instead. It's always better to drink in company. And happier too, I guess. -Dee" Pics: I absolutely have a soft spot for Prangley James is the sweetest guy on this mission. I really like that scene. Oh yeah, he definitely knows it. Died twice in the Atrium. Liara kept dying too because she refused to come up to where I was. I also miss one-shotting shielded mooks Other than that, Jack-less Grissom Academy is still one of my favourite missions. The students' struggle is heavy shit, but I really like it. The interactions with them and Shepard/the squad are great. Also, last night stephenw32768 and I had a couple of ME3MP Silver matches as a duo on the PS3! Fun times, even though it sucks my gear is still so crappy

Well Tracy stopped a Batarian terrorist from dropping an asteroid on Terra Nova but unfortunately the terrorist got away as he used hostages as a diversion so he could escape and Tracy let him go to save the hostages. Next time I fire up the game Tracy is going to head to Virmire to investigate the status of a Salarian STG team that appears to have stumbled across something.

Colin Shepard, Colonist/Adept/War Hero: - First day as XO of the Normandy. Lots of sketchy things going on here, including one of the most decorated marines ever doing a milk run and a turian Spectre along for the ride. Joker picked up on that, as did Navigator Pressly and even Corporal Jenkins. Then I headed to my meeting with Anderson and Nihlus to find out what was really going on. There would have been more but ME crashed while talking with Anderson and Nihlus.

From last night: "Hi Alec, you will not believe what we have on board now. Hackett had sent me a message that Cerberus was on Eden Prime and had uncovered a prothean artifact. On our way from Grissom Academy to the Citadel we stopped by the colony and Liara, EDI and I checked out what this artifact was. It was a cryo pod containing a real, living Prothean! But Cerberus had already damaged the pod a little, so we had to find the command signals to open it. Going through the colony a second time was hard. They had it bad back then with Saren and his geth army, and they had it bad with Cerberus now. I hope Eden Prime can thrive again at some point, but for some it will never be the same. We took care of some Cerberus troops and found some Prothean vid footage in some nearby labs. Thanks to the Cipher I could understand it all and was able to use the command signals used in there to open the pod. It took some time until it was ready to open, and more Cerberus troops arrived, too. We won. And then we opened the pod. I was so curious what we'd find, what the Protheans would be like. He woke up, and after adjusting to the new circumstances a little, we took him back to the Normandy. His name is Javik. Well, it's hard to judge him after only one conversation, but I don't really like what I heard of the Protheans. They were the ruling race during their cycle. Their Empire consisted of many different species calling themselves Protheans - if those different species chose to join the Protheans. If they opposed them, the Protheans fought them. Nice, huh? He doesn't seem too friendly right now, but I'll give him some time. Can't be easy to be the last survivor of his race. He was born into the Reaper cycle, he never knew anything else than war and death. Pretty harsh, but I hope he can help us fight the Reapers, maybe give us an edge over them. Unfortunately Javik knows nothing about the missing component of the device, the Catalyst. Guess we'll have to keep looking. Other than that Javik has an impressive technique of reading people. He can 'sense' things. Pretty creepy, but pretty awesome too. One touch, and he knows something about you. It's quite fascinating. He even felt traces of Grunt in the room we put him in. Oh, and guess who I found again near where we put Javik? My hamster! Little guy was alone all these months. I really wonder how he survived that, but I'm glad he did. After all this I made my rounds and checked up on Liara, who was madly excited about a Prothean on board, despite her being a little disappointed about not being how she pictured Protheans her whole life. Then I checked in on Steve. Working hard on the shuttle again. I can get why he's doing what he does, but I proposed that he might take a little time off to relax on the Citadel next time. He didn't really know whether he wants to do that, but I guess at least he thinks about it. I wanted to do something right there though, and so I asked him and James to have a drink with me in the lounge. Well, it ended up being several of those, and for the first time in months I had a lot of fun. We talked and laughed a lot and just had a good time. I definitely enjoyed these two's company. Really nice people, and James is super funny. He actually reminds me a little bit of you. The summit we wanted to do is scheduled in a few days, and for now I have some stuff to take care of on the Citadel. I can't wait to see Kaidan as well. Maybe we can get some fresh start, build up the trust we had again. I'd really like that. I'll keep you posted. -Dee" Pics: For the first time I went on the roofs of the colony houses, at the turret section and at the end. It was really fun with a Sniper Infiltrator. It was a good choice to bring EDI along for Overload, I got by much better than during Grissom Academy with James's Carnage. I guess I'll keep EDI in my squad for now This evening it was also ME3MP time again and we even played 2 Gold matches against Geth in a row with our fancy Salarian Engineers - we even extracted (I died a lot of times though )! I love our outfits, so here they are

Tonight Tracy got Jenna out of Chora's Den and then she went to Virmire where she discovered that Saren was breeding an army of Krogan but more importantly she learned the truth about his flagship Sovereign. Turns out it is an actual Reaper. Crap just got real. Also she had a bit of trouble with Wrex who didn't want the genophage cure destroyed but Tracy talked him down convincing him that Saren was just going to use it to manipulate the Krogan. Kaidan Alenko lost his life in the line of duty.

"Hey Alec, just coming back from the Citadel. It's still strange to see this place acting like nothing happened. Everyone just goes about their business, like no Reapers would exist at all. Of course I hope they never have to face the Reapers, but I wouldn't count on it. If we don't find that Catalyst in time... Yeah, let's not go there. So, at the hospital I briefly talked with Thane, who stays there now to take care of his health. He says he's near the end of his life, but I want him to live through this war. See a future without Reapers. If we actually can pull it off to win this. Here's hoping. I was glad to hear that he and Kolyat spend time together again, and he also offered to keep an eye on Kaidan during his stay in case someone comes after him. I know Cerberus wanted him dead on Mars, so I appreciate Thane's offer. Kaidan got offered a Spectre position by Udina and while he doesn't know yet if he accepts, I hope he does. He'd be perfect for this job. I'm glad he seems to be fine generally. But despite being better they still tie him to the bed. He also told me his implants got rattled a little, but otherwise he's fine. We talked a bit about what he had been up to and that he hasn't heard from his family. They were in Vancouver when the Reapers came. Hope he'll get some good news soon. We finally cleared the air about what had happened on Horizon a couple months back. All is well between us and we can move on from this shit. I hope we get the chance to serve again together soon. At the embassies, I met up with a salarian Spectre, Jondum Bau, who had sent me a message earlier about a case he worked on. Together we tracked down an indoctrinated hanar diplomat that almost released a virus on its own homeworld. The interesting thing in all this was that Bau got wind of this thanks to Kasumi, and she was even there! Bau wanted to catch her due to being a thief, but Kasumi just tagged along cloaked and saved the hanar homeworld by stopping the upload. Oh, and she faked her death in the process. I'd have loved to have her back on the Normandy as she's a good friend, but she's reluctant and I can understand why. I asked her to join Hackett's team and help with the Prothean device. It's safer for her there and she's good with tech. She accepted. I also ran into Kelly! It was nice to see her again, but unfortunately she was so traumatised from being abducted by the Collecters that she never wanted to step onto the Normandy again. Poor girl. This will haunt her for a while. I wish there was something I could do for her, but she actually quit Cerberus and keeps herself busy with helping the refugees. She also took care of my fish while I was locked up and sent them back to the Normandy now. It's probably stupid, but I'm glad to have them back. I did like watching them when things got too stressful. I went shopping for a few new sniper rifle parts when I bumped into Joker and EDI. They seem to like each other more and more each day. It's kinda funny to think back. Joker used to loathe her. I really don't know how someone can develop feelings for a robotic body and a voice, but... I can see they're good with each other. Whatever gives us strength in these times, eh? Then I went to a club called Purgatory. No, not to get myself mindlessly drunk this time. I actually met up with Aria, who had sent an e-mail earlier. She told me that she was stranded at the Citadel because Cerberus had taken over Omega. Bloody bastards. Not that I like Aria a lot, but she's an ally at least, and I just hate Cerberus - in case it wasn't obvious. She actually proposed if I unite the 3 biggest merc bands under her rule they'd join the war effort, but I have to think about this. I had my fair share of run-ins with them, but I guess with the Reapers around, I should just take the offer. Next time we're on the Citadel I will at least check them out. I also ran into James at the bar and he and I had a drink with some Alliance soldiers. It was good to show them I'm still just a normal soldier like them. I don't like how many of them are intimidated by me. I'm just a normal guy who is lucky enough to still be alive at this point. Near the Normandy's dock I met up with Miranda. She had messaged me earlier she'd be at the Citadel, so we had a chat. It was good to see her again. She's worried about her sister Oriana, who has just vanished. She suspects her father got to her, but there's nothing I can do to help her right now. I hope she finds a lead soon. She had to leave, and earlier I had noticed Steve watching shuttles fly by in a corner. I was hesitating to interrupt him in his thoughts, but I did it anyway and we had a good talk. He's becoming my friend and I'm glad he opens up to me about Robert, about how he is still handling his loss. He said there's a memorial at the refugee area of the Citadel and that he might leave his memento there. Only he can make this decision, but I think it'd be a good first step. It must still be so hard for him, but I'm glad he took some time off. He said it did him some good, and that's what matters. Oh, and we now have Ken and Gabby back at the Normandy. With my Spectre status, I could pardon them from working with Cerberus and they're really happy to be back. I am, too. These are good kids. There's still the small positive things in this bloody hell. We're off to the summit now, so I'll let you know what came out of it soon. -Dee" Citadel meet-ups: It's a public holiday today here and so I played this part in the morning, played a couple of MP matches in the last few hours (tried out the Turian Sentinel with a Mattock, which was fun), and I guess this is what my evening will look like too I at least try to finish Sur'Kesh though. Looking forward to Padok

I played some Ahmed Shepard last week, so time to catch up on what he's been doing in his Mass Effect universe...
Ahmed Shepard went looking for Dr. Garneau on an asteroid being mined by T-GES Mineral Works. Reaper forces were congregating outside, so Ahmed knew he had to hurry. However, once inside, everyone in the facility seemed... unconcerned. It only got stranger from there. Further investigation showed that everyone was busy working on projects not related to mining.
When Ahmed finally caught up who they thought was Garneau, he soon starting speaking like Bryson's assistant Hadley. It became apparent that Leviathan had taken control of the man -- and everyone in the facility. Garneau ran into the mines, and Ahmed gave chase, although the Reapers starting air-dropping forces onto the ground.
Ahmed was delayed while he killed the ground troops, and when he finally made it to Garneau, he blew himself up along with a strange glowing artifact, like the artifact in Bryson's office. With the artifact destroyed, the miners seemed to get back to normal, but they were shocked to discover they had lost 10 years of their lives. Ahmed went back to the Citadel to go find more leads on Leviathan.
Ahmed was troubled by the events that occured on the asteroid. Leviathan had taken over the miners, but unlike typical Reaper indoctrination, the miners did not remember what happened while they were under control, and they returned to normal when Leviathan released control. If Leviathan was a Reaper (still the going theory), then it was unlike the other Reapers.
On the Citadel: - Ahmed delivered some packages to their waiting owners. - Ahmed spent some time with Garrus and got into a sniping contest. Ahmed lost because he is not good with a sniper rifle. - Ahmed made a deal with a Turian named Tactus to swap medical supplies. - Ahmed met with Javik who was seeing the Citadel for the first time. Javik spoke to some of the species there, but they left rather uninspired; Javik is a depressing individual. - Ahmed spoke with Miranda over holo at the Spectre Office. She mentioned her father was possibly working on something big with the Illusive Man, but wanted to look into it herself. - Ahmed went to check out Volus Ambassador Din Korlak, who was suspected of being a traitor. Turns out Korlack had worked with Cerberus when they were fighting with the Collectors, but they soon turned on him when he bailed after the Citadel Coup. Korlack was about to be killed by bounty hunters when Shepard intervened. Korlak gave him the Volus bombing fleet for the Crucible project. - Ahmed chatted with Liara. - Ahmed talked with EDI who was having an existential crisis. - Ahmed talked with Jacob at Huerta Memorial Hospital.

Ahmed and EDI investigated Bryon's office for more clues about Leviathan's whereabouts. They found a message from Ann Bryson who mentioned she was at a dig site and had uncovered another artifact. She also said the site was under attack by Reapers. Ahmed and EDI pinpointed her location and then took the Normandy to the dig site.
While on route to the dig site, Ahmed invited Traynor up to his cabin. Traynor challenged him to a game of chess. Ahmed is also bad at chess. (Yes, Traynor is good at chess, but when Ahmed compares pawns to Krogan, you know he barely knows how to play.) Ahmed also talked with James who said he got a commendation to join the N7 program. Ahmed told him he should totally join the N7 program.
Ann Bryson's dig site was under assault by Harvesters, so Steve Cortez was forced to drop Ahmed off away from Ann Bryson. The Harvesters were destroying the prefabs along the way, so getting to Ann Bryson was difficult. Ahmed also noticed a bunch of drawings on the forations that looked like Reapers. When they finally made it to Ann, she was the only one left alive from her team. She showed them some more drawings of the Reapers, as well as humanoid creatures that looked like they were worshipping the Reapers.
Ann also showed Ahmed the artifact, but the Reaper ground troops were using it. Ann then became possessed by Leviathan and stepped out. Fearing for Ann's life (and their only lead on Leviathan), Ahmed destroyed the artifact. They then held their position from attacking Reaper ground forces so Steve could pick them up in the shuttle. Once in the shuttle, Ahmed broke the bad news to Ann about her father's death. They then took her back to the Citadel in the Normandy.
Ahmed was getting concerned about Leviathan. Was Leviathan a potential ally, or an even greater threat? No way to be sure unless they found it.

Ahmed went back to Dr. Bryson's office, where he found Ann crying. Ahmed felt terrible for interrupting her grieving, but they needed her help to find Leviathan sooner rather than later. Ann came up with a plan: have Leviathan take control of her using the artifact in the office, then trace the signal back to Leviathan's location. Ahmed hated the idea, but it was the only option they had.
They removed the shield from the artifact and Leviathan soon took control of Ann. James held her still so she would not harm herself anyone or anyone else. EDI managed to get a partial lock on the signal, narrowing Leviathan's location down to a cluster. James wanted to put the shield back up, but Ahmed told him no and he continued to question Leviathan through Ann. EDI used the extra time to narrow the signal down to two possible locations, but with ann starting to bleed, Ahmed relented and had James put the shield back up around the artifact. Ann seemed to return to normal.
Ahmed was hesitant to follow up the lead -- Ann said Leviathan wanted to kill him -- but Ahmed was not about to back down now. There was no trace of Leviathan at the first location, but they found it at the second location. In the shuttle down to the signal location, Steve told Ahmed that the probe they sent indicated the signal was several thousand atmospheres under the ocean. They were about to go under in teh shuttle when a pulse knocked the shuttle out of the sky and it crashed on an ancient shipwreck.
Steve began to make repairs while Ahmed and his team looked around. They found more artifacts, along with ship logs that indicated Leviathan was responsible for the pulse. It had destroyed several ships and taken control of all the people serving on them. The dead bodies indicated a grim fate for those people, and an ill omen for Ahmed's future if they could not get off the ship.
Just then, a Reaper flew in and started dropping off troops, in an apparent attempt to kill Shepard before they found Leviathan. Ahmed held off the Reaper forces long enough for Steve to get the shuttle working again, but then it got hit by another pulse and crashed. Ahmed rushed to Steve and killed the remaining Reaper forces before Steve was killed.
New plan: take a diving mech under the ocean and find Leviathan. The only way they would get off the shp alive is if Leviathan would let them. With no other options, Ahmed took the mech down under the ocean.
Ahmed found Leviathan. Leviathan -- or rather Leviathans -- were an organic species that looked like Reapers. The main Leviathan explained that their species used 'lesser species' as thralls. But the other organic species would create machines that would eventually turn on them. Seeking a solution to the problem, the Leviathans created their own A.I. to find a solution, only to have it turn on them and use thir organic matter in building a Reaper.
The A.I. then continued building more Reapers from organic species each 50,000 year cycle, eventually building the mass relays to make harvesting more efficient. The Reapers also began to use Indoctrination, an ability much like the Leviathan's ability to control but more twisted.
Ahmed managed to convince the Leviathan to join the fight against the Reapers to try and destroy the Reapers in the war. Leviathan let Ahmed return to the Normandy, and even killed the Reaper in the sky.

Whenever I start to near the end of my ME1 playthroughs I usually try to power through it to the end so I can import into ME2. Well today all I had left was the geth in the Armstrong nebula, Noveria, and then Ilos. Well I finished the Armstrong Nebula and wrapped up Noveria tonight but as I returned to the Citadel I realized I was just too tired to keep going. So I will wrap up ME1 tomorrow when I am fresh.

Currently playing MEA, finally I was able to get my hands in the game. Good lord, the worlds and space travel are eye candy, is friggin' beautifull out there! I just finished the kett base at Voeld after starting in Havarl, but didn't finished the monolith mission and others. I really liked the way you can customize your guns and armors, really neat thing. The UI is shit on the other hand.
I'm currently in Eos again and I'd like to ask: who the hell thinked a plot twist regarding the kett was a good idea, but you can't use it otherwise Ryder won't have enemies to shoot anymore? I miss Liara, Joker, Steve and Garrus, the carbon copies replacements are not bad, but there's something missing. Heck, never thought I would say that, but even our mascot soldier - James - is better than Liam.
PS: Can I have a exploration vehicle that will travel through war zones with a GUN next time?

"Hi Alec! So, big news. We're about to cure the genophage. Bloody crazy, right? It all started during the summit after Wrex and the salarian dalatrass came on board. For the krogan to help out the turians, Wrex demanded the genophage to be cured. A tall order, and at first I was a bit shocked he exploited this crisis we're in to pressure everyone into this, but then... Yeah, I can see how this might be the only ever chance for a cure, so he had to take it. This idea didn't just come out of nowhere either. Someone had sent him a video of a salarian research lab where they held some female krogan. Female krogan that participated in Maelon's experiments, survived them and were immune to the genophage. The dalatrass wasn't too happy about all this, but she relented and told us the base is on Sur'Kesh, the salarian homeworld. So it was up to us to get these female krogan out of there. Steve flew Wrex, Liara, EDI and me in and Wrex almost caused an incident. I really like him, I do, but he can be so brash at times. He just jumped out of the shuttle even though we had no landing clearance. Luckily, a salarian named Padok Wiks cleared up everything and we were allowed to proceed. I told Wrex to stay out of this whole thing, that my team and I will extract the krogan. Wiks told us to meet up with him, but I ran into Kirrahe, the salarian who teamed up with us on Virmire? Man, it seems like it's been ages since this happened. Since Ash died. Since we destroyed the facility where Saren created a cure for the genophage. I will never forget how Wrex stood down and let me destroy the cure, I owed him for that. And now I will repay him. It was nice to see Kirrahe again, he's a good man. Even promised me support for Earth, no matter what happens. We met up with Wiks when sensors picked up some activity on the perimeter. Wiks urged us to go down to the labs to get the females and joined us to help. He told me that it was actually him leaking the footage to Wrex. A salarian who wants to cure the genophage. You don't see that every day. Unfortunately, the chances to actually do it were very slim. The females had already been in a bad shape when the salarians found them on Tuchanka, due to Maelon's experiments, and despite treatment only one survived in the end. We had to make sure to get her out of there unharmed. I learned that someone, presumably Mordin, actually forwarded Wiks Maelon's data on the cure that we saved on Tuchanka. Guess Mordin wasn't so sure about the genophage anymore himself. Too bad he died before he could see what is about to happen. But first we ran into some problems. That activity on the perimeter turned out to be Cerberus, so it was harder to get the female out. They were hell-bent on killing her. Wiks mused they wanted to prevent the cure, or a krogan-turian alliance. Whatever they wanted, they didn't succeed. We killed every last one of them and got the female out. She's now on the Normandy and I had a chat with her. She's not telling us her real name because she's actually a shaman (who surrender their names), so Wiks named her 'Eve'. She's a very interesting individual. She knows exactly what brought this devastation upon the krogan and understands what must change for the krogan to be a part of galactic society again. The things she's seen and experienced... I don't envy her. She went through hell when becoming a shaman, with stillborn krogan... I want to make this right. I really do. Eve gave me a crytal she found when she had been locked up in a cave and had to dig her way out in order to become a shaman. It was a very sweet thing to do. She said 'In the darkest hour, there is always a way out'. Words to live by, huh? I already found my way out many times. Please just let it be one more bloody time. Wiks will need some time to fabricate the cure, so in the meantime we're heading back to the Citadel. I also want to check out something Primarch Victus mentioned. I don't know the details, but a turian ship went down on Tuchanka. It was his son's platoon, and he said their mission is a matter of galactic peace. I really wonder what turians do on the krogan homeworld. It never gets boring around here. Well, it's been a busy day, so to relax James, Steve and I had another drink together just now and we're thinking about playing some poker soon. I think I haven't played in 7 years or so, so this should be interesting. -Dee" Pics: Had some heavy lagging throughout this mission, which was annoying. At some point Liara and EDI disappeared too and I couldn't use their powers until the next cutscene put them back into the game It's quite interesting that Padok actually thinks that Cerberus is there to prevent an alliance or cure. I've seen so many people on BSN arguing that Cerberus on Sur'Kesh makes no sense, or that they never got why they were there. There's one line in-between fights that state they're there to kill Eve, but it's actually pretty irritating how this all only really is that obvious with Mordin not present. Which not a lot of people will ever see I guess. Padok is an excellent character so far and I think he's absolutely adorable at times. A very good Mordin substitute! Can't wait for further chats. And then at some point I also need to let Mordin die one more time and not save the data to see the other outcome too. Oh, curse the replayability of these games!!!

"They never listen to me." That was the phrase going through Korynn's mind. Despite Anderson chiding her for being "soft around the edges" and worried she had gotten out of practice with sitting behind a desk, Korynn had been using the downtime to practice some asari meditation techniques and hone some new combat biotics that Liara had taught her. Of course, it was just some good ribbing by a good friend. Still, it was surreal, seeing it really happening. It was good to be reunited with Ashley, and Korynn was most impressed with her abilities as not just a combat soldier but also a leader. After the fighting on Mars, Korynn sent a letter to Hackett recommending Ashley as a Council Spectre. Something that she never plans on telling Ashley. (fic) She applauded James' bravado but thinks he is youthful and needs to settle down. The worst part about a long war is retreat, but it is something fruitful if done tactically well. He's a good soldier, but questioning her orders at a time like this one is not what she, or anyone else needs. She hopes time in the field will help James gain perspective. Even while she was "locked up," she still managed to keep in contact with Liara. Seeing her face again was enough to take the air out of Korynn's feelings of shock and frustration. Korynn believes that Cerberus wasn't just after the data on the Prothean weapon, but also Liara. Like that will ever happen. Korynn made a mental note to kill The Illusive Man the next time she has the opportunity. No one messes with her girl. Liara has been doing incredible work on Mars, and as Korynn's proxy while she is imprisoned. The best part of being in a relationship with Liara is watching her become the person that she was meant to be. Not just as the foremost mind on Prothean society and technology, but as one of the galaxy's most powerful information brokers, and a formidable diplomat. Korynn firmly believes that the true hero in this war is Liara T'Soni, and she never lets up in telling her that. (fic) After Mars, it was on to the Citadel. Korynn still thinks that not giving Avina combat abilities is a wasted resource. It's not as though the Citadel will be spared in this war.

Well Tracy took down Saren and destroyed Sovereign all while saving the Destiny Acension. Then she got blown up by the Collectors and rebuilt by cerberus. Now she is working with cerberus to take down the collectors who she suspects might be working for the reapers. On the plus side she now has a bigger better ship and she gets to have cool gear. She went to work right away and recruited a chatty salarian scientist to help her. This Mordin guy might have his quirks but he knows his stuff.

Colin Shepard: - While discussing mission specifics with Anderson and Nihlus, Joker interrupted us with a transmission from Eden Prime. It was under attack and we saw a lot of marines died. In the distance, there was also a ship of unknown design that was likely connected to the aggressors. Don't Fear The Reaper. - Anderson ordered a small strike force to the ground, consisting of myself, Alenko and Jenkins. When we landed on Eden Prime, it wasn't quite the paradise we had heard about. It had been turned into a war zone - not that we immediately saw the enemy. We first saw weird floating creatures Jenkins called gasbags which he assured us weren't a treat. Then we saw the charred remains of humans. I walk among the dead. [Really wanted to spend more time on this but I'm exhausted. ]

"Hey Alec. Got some business done on the Citadel. I tried to drop off the last couple letters to you, but it's getting quite impossible to deliver them with the Reapers around. I'll just keep them in my cabin for the time being. I started checking out the merc contacts Aria forwarded to me and already managed to get Blood Pack and Eclipse for her. You should see some of these guys, Alec. Man, bloody mercs. But I can't really afford to be picky in these times. I'll take everything I can get. While running around meeting with the different groups I noticed Matriarch Aethyta at the Presidium, serving drinks! She used to do that at a bar on Nos Astra. For old times' sake, I ordered a drink and we had a little chat. I already knew she was the other half of Liara's parents, because I've seen a vid of her with a picture of Liara on the old Shadow Broker ship. She told me she never got to know Liara. So I went to see her and tell her Aethyta is there in case she wanted to talk, but she already knew. Figures. And she was reluctant to speak with her. I think Liara should've done it, and I hope she will still consider. You never know when it's too late to do such things. I also visited Kaidan again, who was up and running this time, and he accepted the Spectre position! I am so happy for him, and proud. The second human Spectre. Pretty amazing. He said he thought about joining the Normandy again, but that he first wants to locate the biotic students he had taken over a while ago at Anderson's request (you can't say No to Anderson). I hope he's back with us soon, and I can't wait to team up with him again. I had another chat with Kelly, too. She confessed that she regularly wrote reports of the crew's and my emotional state to the Illusive Man. Back then I would've been furious. But it doesn't matter now I guess. I am not mad at Kelly. I actually have to smile at the thought of the Illusive Man reading reports on how I got myself drunk over and over. Bet he seriously had some second thoughts having invested in the fuck-up that I am. Earlier, when I went to talk to one of the Blue Suns mercs at the refugee camp, I saw Steve standing at the memorial wall he told me about. I didn't want to disturb him, but after I had done some further arrangements concerning the mercs and came back to talk to a salarian Eclipse member to seal a deal, he was still there. And this time I went to see if he's alright. I know he was having a hard time to leave his recording behind, it is a huge step after all. But he did it, and was grateful I am there for him. I'm glad I can be. I've only known him a couple weeks, but I care a lot for Steve. Maybe I'm so invested in this because something similar happened to me, I don't know. I sat down for a long time at the bar in Purgatory and... this whole thing, it got me thinking. I realised how I still hang on to my own past way too much. I always told myself I'm over you. I always felt that I am, and I wanted to be, but then why did I keep your ring all this time, why am I still writing these letters? I felt like a hypocrite for encouraging Steve to leave his one memento behind and move on, while I still cling to mine. That was just not right. This whole thing opened my eyes, and so I went back to that memorial wall and left your ring there. Please forgive me for that, but I really needed to do this for myself. Steve is so strong after only a couple months. I admire him for that. When I returned to the Normandy Steve had written me an e-mail, saying he bumped into an old friend who will now help with the war effort. He also told me he feels good with what he had done, and thinks about heading to Purgatory on one of our next Citadel trips. He invited me for drinks and I'm totally up for it, whenever we'll find the time. Should be a fun night out. I like spending time with him. I don't know. It's like I somehow connected with him on a whole different level than I do with others. It's hard to explain. But anyway, it's getting late and we're preparing to leave for Tuchanka. Can't wait to see what that deal with the turian platoon is. -Dee PS: What I said doesn't mean I won't write letters to you anymore. I still want to. Even though it's a pretty damn stupid thing to do, isn't it." Pics! I also played some more ME3MP last night with my colleagues, and it was not really our day Tried the Talon Mercenary, he bugged out on me, tried the Volus Adept on Silver first, liked him a lot! On Gold, totally botched this game in the 3rd wave. Tried another game on Gold with the human Engineer and totally got destroyed by frigging Collectors in wave 8 or so. This faction is the worst thing in MP, I swear! And yesterday we reaaaally had a lot of Collectors. I hate them

Tracy went and paid her respects to the fallen crew members of the SR1 that didn't make it and then she followed up on a dossier for a vigilante called archangel. Tracy along with Zaeed and Jacob pretended to be freelancers so they could get to archangel and then extract him from the mercenary siege. Turns out that archangel was none other than Garrus Vakarian. As nice as it was to see an old friend they had to get out of there in one piece. It was a tough fight but we all got out of there in one piece though Garrus was injured. Dr Chakwas patched him up good but his face has seen better days. Friggin blood pack gave me all sorts of problems. I remember them being relentless but damn those damn varren did not stop coming I had a hell of a time getting those damn shutters closed. Even with my drone I couldn't slow those bastards down. Jacob was no help either. Unless I tell the dummy where to go he just hides behind some crates being useless.

Colin Shepard: We moved ahead, seeing only gasbags coming down the hill. I sent Alenko ahead, and then Jenkins a little further. That's when the shooting started and Jenkins was torn to shred. Poor guy never got a chance. Hell, it wasn't his enthusiasm that got him killed, but the drones of an as yet unseen enemy. I promised Alenko that he'd get a proper burial. Death of Jenkins Continuing on, there were more of those drones. Knowing they were there made it easy to take them out. Too bad we hadn't been aware of them in advance. Then we came upon a lone marine. I think I might have seen her in the transmission we'd seen of Eden Prime. The pink and red of the Phoenix armor stood out. She was being attacked by some type of synthetics but she was a fighter. When the dust settled, I learned she was Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams, the sole survivor of her squad. We learned the synthetics were the geth, sentient AI who hadn't been away from their territory in well over 200 years. Williams said they were probably looking for the Prothean beacon, which made it that much more important we got it before they could. She seemed to know the score and was a survivor so I invited her along. We could use the support. A damn good marine. Unfortunately, the beacon was not at the dig site. It seemed likely that it had already been moved to the spaceport. Nihlus was ahead of us so with any luck he would at least hold the geth off before they could leave with the artifact. We went ahead to a camp. There were humans up on raised spikes, like we'd seen earlier. What was worse was when the spikes lowered. They were no longer human, infused with glowing cybernetics but not looking all that alive, either. Worse, they attacked us, exploding when they came too close. We had no choice but to destroy them. Zombies! One of the buildings had its locks engaged, so there were probably survivors. We overrode them and stepped inside. There were two scientists, but one of them was clearly insane. Dr. Warren confirmed that the Prothean beacon had been moved to the spaceport. Dr. Manual talked about the age of humanity coming to an end. But he also mentioned seeing a turian who was the leader of the enemy, which was curious. Couldn't be Nihlus since he had been in transit with the Normandy when the attack took place. As we approached the spaceport, we saw a ship off in the distance, rising into the air. It's size and scope were beyond anything we'd ever seen before. Was it something created by the geth or this unknown turian? Sovereign

"Hey Alec, been a busy last couple days. That turian platoon crash turned out to be some crazy shit. Steve flew us in to the crash site as close as he could, but we still needed to walk some distance. I told the primarch's son, Lt. Tarquin Victus, to light a flare so we could locate them. We needed to fight some Reaper troops in our way, but we soon met up with Lt. Victus. They were stranded on Tuchanka because he made a mistake. Decided to avoid a Reaper-populated area and went through the ruins instead. But in there, they had no chance of maneuvering, so they crashed. Lost a lot of people. His men were pissed at him and Lt. Victus wanted to abandon their mission, but I told him that he's the leader, he needs to command them. It's not easy sometimes, and I understood the situation they were in, understood both sides, but everyone can make a mistake. It's just human. Or, in that case, turian. In the end, Lt. Victus could convince them to carry on with their original mission. I remembered how the primarch told me it was a matter of galactic peace. And boy, was he right. The turians hid a giant bomb on Tuchanka after the Krogan Rebellions as a safeguard against a future galactic war. Can you imagine? Not only unleashing the genophage on them, but blowing up the planet too if things go wrong again? And now we almost all paid the price. Cerberus had the bomb in their bloody hands and we had to stop them at all costs. If this bomb had gone off... The krogan-turian alliance is fragile enough as it is. I'm just relieved we could actually stop it. Just... Tarquin Victus lost his life for this. He was so close to reprogram the trigger mechanism, but Cerberus hacked it and set it to detonate. There was no time for reprogramming anymore, so Lt. Victus said he had to separate the trigger from bomb. This madman climbed up the bomb and managed to do it, but fell down into the dig site with the outer shell of the bomb. He was a brave man. He wanted to make things right, and he did... Back on the Normandy, as much as I like them, I was so mad at both Primarch Victus and Wrex. Even NOW they were at each other's throat. Of course I understand Wrex being mad about a fucking bomb that could kill a huge portion of the krogan, and it's not the primarch's fault it was there, but just in general... Their constant bickering, Wrex's aggressive behaviour, it got on my nerves. I snapped, Alec. It's not typical for me, I know, but my patience with these two was wearing thin. I started yelling at them. They should know who the enemy here is. That it's crucial we all put our past grievances with each other behind us and focus on the threat right now. Bloody hell, the primarch had just lost his son for this! Each day this war goes on and I see or hear what is happening out there, I feel more on edge. I feel exhausted, but I try my best to keep myself in a positive mood. I spent most of my downtime with James and Steve and we had a few drinks, played some poker. Just to take my mind off things. It helps immensely, and it's good to not think about Reapers or bloody politics for a while when I'm with my crew. And even though the cure is ready, we are now headed for a planet called Benning because Traynor told me Cerberus has been taking civilians from there. It was important to stop this bomb first, but now I hope it's not too late for those poor people. I've got a lot on my plate right now, more than I ever bargained for when I joined the Alliance. And sometimes it all feels too overwhelming, but I still do what I can to save innocent people. I hate how many lives were already lost, and how many more will still be lost in this war. Bloody Reapers. Hackett told me that the device, which they dubbed Crucible, is coming along nicely. I have to put all my hopes in this weapon. It has to work. It has to. -Dee" Pics: Everything went fast and smooth. I like the setup with Liara's Warp/Stasis and EDI's Overload a lot. Explosions and headshots (when I don't miss)

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2 cont'd:
Normandy
After ensuring EDI was ready to repel any hacking attempts, Shepard activated the geth platform they had found on the derelict Reaper. The ensuing conversation revealed some interesting tidbits of information: - “We are all geth”. There is no individuality among the geth. The platform that was aboard the Normandy had over one-thousand programs running within it, leading EDI to give it the name “Legion”. - The geth had been monitoring organics in general, and Shepard in particular, for some time. - The geth that fought with Saren were not “true” geth, they were a splinter faction known as “heretics” (interesting choice of words). - The Reapers were a threat to the true geth: “We are different from them. Outside their plans.” - The geth wanted to help Shepard fight the Reapers (“Cooperation furthers mutual goals”.)
Legion revealed that it had boarded the derelict Reaper ship to obtain information on a virus that the Heretics created with the help of Sovereign. It was designed to turn all geth into Heretics. It sounded like the synthetic equivalent of Indoctrination, although Legion didn't describe it in those terms. Stopping them required going to a space station run by the Heretics, located in the empty space between star systems on the fringes of the Terminus Systems.
The Phoenix Massing - Heretic Station
The Normandy returned to The Phoenix Massing cluster, and travelled to the location provided by Legion. Heretic Station was a former quarian outpost abandoned by the Migrant Fleet as they fled quarian space following their defeat at the hands of the geth. The Heretics had rebuilt it and were now using as a base for staging attacks on organics. They also planned to use it to broadcast the virus that infect the “true” geth and make them think like the heretics.
Tali was an obvious choice to accompany Shepard and Legion in the infiltration team. Few people in the galaxy had more combat experience against geth than she did, and she'd fought at Shepard's side more or less constantly since getting away from Fist's thugs years earlier.
After they boarded the station, Legion discovered that the Heretic virus was now complete and could be used any time. He also stated that it would be possible to “rewrite” the Heretics using a modified version of the virus, turning them back into true geth. Tali was understandably wary of making Legion's faction of the geth stronger and advised against it.
As they made their way towards the Reaper data storage device that contained the virus, Legion gave Shepard insight into geth society – how they shared memories, experience, etc. “We gain complexity by linking together...We are many eyes looking at the same things.” The heretics were once a part of them, and their exile diminished the race as a whole. It was no wonder they were conflicted about what to do.
They came across a room full of databases, containing “a portion of the heretics accumulated memories.” Legion was shocked to discover that heretic spies had infiltrated the true geth networks and found out their patrol routes. He claimed that geth were “not suspicious, we accept each other.” The heretics wanted to leave, the geth understood why and let them. “There was peace between us.” He was baffled as to why they would subsequently feel the need to resort to subterfuge, and disconcerted that they could no longer understand each other.
They found the room with the data core, and Legion made preparations to upload the runtime that would neutralize the virus, while they held off a series of counterattacks by the Heretics. When the datamine was complete, Legion again asked whether to rewrite or destroy the heretics. Shepard asked why Legion was leaving it up to her, and he indicated that the geth were unable to reach consensus on the matter, and that Shepard, having fought the Reapers and the heretics, had “a perspective we lack.” This highlighted the flaw in the nature of geth society – in matters of ethics, morality, etc, when “consensus” was difficult or impossible, the geth lacked leadership, since the way their culture and society was structured made leadership impossible.
Shepard was unsure of what to do, but a decision needed to be made, and Legion wasn't going to make it. Shepard couldn't in good conscience kill potentially millions of living beings on the off chance they might be a threat at some point in the future. She couldn't do it with the Rachni queen on Noveria, and she couldn't do it here. She knew she was taking a risk – the geth weren't like other lifeforms, and the heretics had already been “tainted” by the reapers once – but she had to give them a chance. She told Legion to rewrite the heretics.
The team escaped Heretic Station and returned to the Normandy before the electromagnetic pulse that rewrote the heretics fried them.
Normandy
Back on the ship, Tali and Legion were not getting along. Tali had caught Legion accessing data about the Migrant Fleet from her omnitool, and was about to send it to the geth. She pulled a gun on him to get him to stop, and Shepard was brought in to referee before someone got hurt.
Both parties were justified in their actions, trying only to protect their people – the geth were worried about “Creator” plans to attack them, and the Tali knew that the Fleet would be in grave danger if Legion transmitted the data. Shepard told them that they were both right, but managed to convince them that they would both pay the price (along with everyone else) if they couldn't find a way to make peace. They reached a compromise, with Tali offering to pass on some non-classified intel for Legion to transmit. It was encouraging to see the situation diffused, but Shepard knew that war between the two races was probably inevitable, it was just a question of when.
Shep asked Legion for more information on geth government, society, and their history with Sovereign. She also asked why he'd used a piece of N7 armour – hers, as it turned out – to repair some damage. Strangely, Legion was unable to answer. She then headed for the CIC to check on the progress of the installation of the Reaper IFF.
