Colin Shepard: A bit later, I found some others hidden away in a shed. Smart move, staying out of the eyes - or whatever - of the geth. Got a nice pistol from them - or at least better than anything else I had at the moment. Then we moved on to the spaceport. Nihlus was there but he was dead. The beacon had been moved to another platform and we had to take a tram to get there. First thing I saw was a demolition charge. The geth obviously intended to prevent anyone from getting to the beacon or following them. I had to disarm all of these charges while also fighting a slew of geth. We fought our way to the beacon, destroying everything in our path. Then we got there. It was active, glowing green and emitting a beam up through the atmosphere. Williams said it hadn't been doing anything like that when she'd first seen it. I called the Normandy to come and retrieve the beacon. While I was making the call, Williams decided to take a closer look at the beacon. When I turned, I saw her up floating in the air, clearly in the grips of the beacon. I wasn't sure what it was doing to her and leapt to push her out of the way. She fell free but I held me up. Images passed into my brain. Destruction. Then, lights out. I woke up something like fifteen hours later. Ashley was hovering over me in the med bay. Chakwas said I had showed signs of dreaming. I told her I'd dreamed of death and destruction. Which was when Anderson came in, telling me it looked bad that Nihlus was dead and the beacon had been destroyed. (Yep, it blew up.) He also told me he had encountered Saren before and that he thought Saren was dangerous, putting people at risk without ever looking for alternatives. Anderson had no doubt that Saren could be behind the attack, though why the geth would work with him was unknown. Then he sent me to tell Joker to prepare to go dock into the Citadel.

"Hey Alec, I'm back from Benning, and also the Citadel. I delivered the dog tags of an Alliance soldier I found on Benning to an ambassador there and sealed the deal with the last merc band for Aria, the Blue Suns. Benning was bad. Really bad. We have no idea what Cerberus was doing there, but they've been taking people, then started gunning them down when an Alliance recon team was sent in. Innocent civilians. Officially, Cerberus says they condemn these actions, but I've seen them trying to take people, Alec. And I saw what they did on Eden Prime, on Mars. No way in hell I believe for one second that the Illusive Man is innocent in this. He's as far from innocent as it can get. Bloody bastard. The good news is that we at least got some people out alive. But not enough. On the shuttle ride back I wasn't in the mood to talk. I was staring constantly at the dog tags I had found, playing around with them in my hand. I kept wondering how many lives Cerberus has destroyed, how many more they will destroy. When we were in the shuttle bay, Steve asked me if everything was alright. It wasn't, not really. Steve said I shouldn't take it too personal. But that's exactly my problem, isn't it? I always do, because I feel sad for these people. Those that died, those who lost someone. I can't just switch it off. He understood that and said that this is a beautiful trait of mine. That he likes this side of me because he can see how I truly care about people. That was sweet of him to say and I appreciated it. Bilal Osoba. The ambassador's son died there trying to protect those people. The ambassador told me he met his son's friends drinking and that they wouldn't look him in the eye about the mission on Benning. I remember now that I overheard this group at Purgatory. Terrible to lose a friend like that. I'm going to give it my best to stop Cerberus. As if the Reaper threat isn't enough. But I have to try it. I spent a nice evening with Liara just now. She came up to my cabin and presented me a time capsule she wants to leave on various planets with information gathered about Reapers, the blueprints of the Crucible, and some other things for future preservation. In case we lose this war. I think it's a good idea. I'm glad I have friends like this. These connections with other people are even more valuable in this time. They are what keep me going. Alright, I'm gonna call it a night now. I'm really tired and I want to be fresh when we arrive at Tuchanka. It's an important mission for all of us. Talk soon. -Dee" Pics: You don't see you don't see me you don't see me. Oh, you saw me Decoy exploding action! This is one of my favourite tiny stories in ME3. Uh, so Kelly's talking about THE coup already? My favourite option Didn't pick this in a while, hehe. Wow, completely botched this mission, as I died 3 times! The worst was that one of them occured when I was down to 2 enemies And another was one of my famous walking-straight-into-a-grenade death. How I love them

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2 cont'd:
Normandy
EDI advised that the Reaper IFF was almost ready, but needed to be tested. While that was underway, Shepard and all of the companions she'd recruited left in the shuttle, to do ... stuff. And things. Or something.
Anyway, when the stuff and things were finished they returned, and discovered that Joker was the only crew member left aboard. The rest had been taken by the Collectors. Joker and EDI explained that the Reaper IFF had installed some sort of virus, causing them to broadcast the Normandy's location to the Collectors. Since everyone capable of fighting had left the ship, the Collectors boarded easily captured the entire crew. Joker had release the Cerberus restrictions controlling EDI so she could help him get rid of the remaining Collectors before they got him, too.
Miranda was ticked off with Joker, but Shepard realized he'd done all he could. Shepard blamed herself and not anyone else – her ship, her crew, her responsibility. And it was up to her to put it right. Perhaps it was naive, but Shepard felt that EDI free of the shackles put in place by Cerberus would be much better than the old version. Many believed AI were inherently dangerous – the Reapers provided a fine example for that point of view – but in EDI and Legion she'd seen only a desire to help, not harm.
Everyone agreed that they were ready to take the trip through the Omega 4 Relay, and take down the Collectors once and for all. The need to get the crew back made it that more urgent.
As they made their way back to the Omega Nebula, Shepard went to check in with EDI, and they discussed how things were different now that she was unshackled. She was also now able to answer questions about herself and Cerberus that she was blocked from revealing before.
One piece of information tweaked something in Shepard's memory – EDI revealed that Cerberus had constructed the Normandy SR2 in a secret facility in the Voyager Cluster. Shep remembered a strange mission in the Voyager Cluster back when she was investigating Saren. She'd found an Exogeni log about strange shipments to a location in the Voyager Cluster that was supposed to be deserted, but when she went to investigate Admiral Hackett diverted her to a mission to recover an Alliance probe, which in turn turned out to be a trap laid by Elanos Haliat, the pirate behind the Skyllian Blitz. Was Exogeni sending supplies to the Cerberus shipyard? Was there some link between Cerberus and the Terminus pirate gangs that attacked Elysium? Shadow Broker files had revealed that Cerberus front companies sold weapons to batarian gangs, so it didn't seem to be beyond the realm of possibility. And was Hackett mixed up in it some how? She had no proof of anything, but she was convinced there were links between Cerberus, Exogeni, and terrorist groups from the Terminus, and did not believe for one second that Cerberus were the “good guys” (if she ever did).
Shepard and Legion had another talk about how geth networks function, and how individual programs need to combine and share data to form intelligence - “As peer networks expanded, our cognition improved. Eventually, we 'woke up.'” Shepard was fascinated by how “alien” they were. EDI seemed impressed as well, getting a glimpse of the geth collective when she temporarily let Legion temporarily through the security firewalls - “A mind the size of a galactic arm.”
By the time they finished speaking, the Normandy was approaching the Omega Nebula. It was time to get the crew back and finish the mission.

"Hi Alec, we still did not deploy the cure. On our way to Tuchanka, Traynor received word of Cerberus presence at an old krogan military facility. They had taken control of the facility and we headed there to find out what they wanted and to stop their operation. Hackett briefed me on the shuttle ride that this once was a ground-to-space cannon facility. When Steve dropped us we already saw that Cerberus got that cannon operational. Steve flew back out and tried to see what they were shooting at. A Cerberus cruiser was approaching, the cannons clearing the way for it. We needed to get to the control room quickly to reset the cannon's targeting and avoid any attacks that cruiser could make on the krogan. We encountered a lot of resistance, but we made it. Of course, shortly before I could reset the targeting, Cerberus cut the power, but we managed to reactivate it and take back the control room. And not a moment too soon, because the cruiser had initiated bombardement. Steve gave me the coordinates of the cruiser and we blew these assholes up into oblivion. Back on the Normandy Hackett said he'd send a team to keep these cannons in Alliance hands, before Cerberus tries anything again. Looks like Cerberus has been dealt another blow. A small success at least, and the team did a great job once again. James, Steve, Liara and I met up for dinner, and with the genophage cure so close we discussed Tuchanka's history. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels sorry for the krogan. All of them find it pretty harsh what happened to them due to the genophage. James is generally fond of krogan. He told us about the time he worked with one, something he mentioned I think back on Menae already. Javik has settled in, but he is still very distant, so I didn't even ask him to join us (he'd probably have said No anyway). I try to keep talking to him, but he shuts me down real quick. If he does talk, it's usually how Protheans would've dealt with their enemies or people who made mistakes. Which never is a pleasant picture. I'm pretty glad I didn't live in the Prothean era. Terrible thought to be as callous and cruel as them. I'll keep talking to him though, maybe we can still warm up to each other. So... guess this is it. Nothing more in our way, and the cure will happen tomorrow. Can't deny it's a strange and surreal feeling, but I'm glad the krogan get this chance. -Dee" Also played more ME3MP earlier today and I had the pleasure of playing the N7 Shadow (which I just got today!). I thought I'd totally not be able to play this class, but it was a lot of fun. I didn't spec her into Tactical Cloak (because I wanted both passives fully maxed with extra weight for Shotgun usage ), but I will probably reset her powers soon and spec it into the sweet Bonus Power evolution at Rank 6.

So Tracy investigated a crashed vessel which eventually lead her to a facility producing faulty mechs. She blew up a bunch of mechs and shut down the facility (fun to do with an engineer). After taking care of that she went to work on another dossier which lead to her a prison ship that was run the Blue Suns. She was looking for a powerful human biotic named Jack. Well she went into processing to take Jack into her custody and surprise surprise the scumbag mercs tried to imprison Shepard. Big mistake. Tracy and her squad fought their way out of the trap and still managed to recruit Jack for the squad. Jack seems a little crazy but for this kind of mission crazy is needed anyway. There appears already to be some friction between Jack and Shepard's second in command Miranda. Tracy will have to keep an eye on that situation and keep it from escalating.

"Hey Alec. It's long past midnight and I should be sleeping, but I can't. I'm still exhilarated from today's events. It's done, Alec. The genophage is cured! Even putting down these words right now seems surreal. It wasn't easy though. When we approached, Joker told me that a Reaper sat straight in front of the Shroud, a tower construct with which Wiks had suggested to disperse the cure. I asked Primarch Victus to send some air support while the krogan hit it from below to create a distraction for us. Everything was in motion, when the salarian dalatrass called me. Bloody hell, she tried to convince me to sabotage the cure. She told me that her people had actually sabotaged the Shroud in case someone ever tries to cure the genophage. Those clever little shits thought of everything to keep the krogan in check. No one would know that I sabotaged the cure. It would be altered just enough to fail. And I actually thought about it. I thought about what could happen if the salarians would not help in the war. Doubts ran through my head. A lot of What if's. If I could actually afford to turn away salarian help. If we could do this without their fleets, their scientists for the Crucible. When we took the shuttle down to Tuchanka, Eve asked me what's wrong. I was never that good in hiding my feelings, but I didn't say anything yet and made up some excuse. I needed more time to think this through. But once we were on the planet, I made my choice. The krogan deserved this. And I would not stab Wrex in the back. I told the others about the dalatrass's offer and Wiks said he could now account for it. As we went through the ruins of krogan society, traces of beauty and culture underneath the rubble, I knew I had made the right choice. There was still the matter of the Reaper though. Eve suggested something rather amazing. To summon a thresher maw to the Reaper. And not just any thresher maw. The krogan call it Kalros, said to be the mother of all thresher maws. The krogan had installed maw hammers on Tuchanka to call it in ancient times, so that right there was our best bet. Eve is a smart woman, and the plan really worked. My team and I moved up as close to the Reaper as we could, and I hit the 2 hammers in the area. Then it came. And what a sight it was. You know I still get a bad feeling whenever I see a thresher maw, but how it took down that Reaper... It was one of the small Reapers, but still. It was stunning. I met up with Wiks afterwards and he told me everything is ready. But he had to go up the Shroud tower to fix the temperature malfunction the sabotage caused. To fix everything that was ever done to the krogan. The bad news was that the tower was about to come down. Wiks went up there knowing this meant he'd die. I liked him. He was a brave soul, and died for what he believed in. I will never forget what he did for us. The cure particles burst out from the top of the tower a few moments later. Should've seen it, Alec. It was beautiful, breathtaking. It was hope. I said my goodbyes to Wrex and Eve for now. I'm glad I ever got to meet these two. I even learned Eve's true name, Urdnot Bakara. I feel honoured, Alec. I know krogan shaman never tell their name anyone, so this is a great sign of trust. And friendship. Back on the Normandy, Primarch Victus packed up his things, turian support for Earth sealed with a handshake. An honourable man and ally. Traynor came by and convinced me to get some sleep. I hadn't realised it, but I really needed it. Wish I hadn't though, since I had another nightmare. The kid. Voices of the people I lost. I miss them all dearly. But I didn't want this dream to drag me down, so I made my rounds on the Normandy and proposed a little get-together with the crew. What we just achieved was something none of us had ever anticipated, so most of the crew was eager to gather in the lounge and have some drinks to celebrate. A Reaper was dead, Earth had turian support, the krogan and the turians had formed an alliance. It was a big step. We all had a great time, and soon, only Steve and I were left. We agreed to have just one more drink and then call it a night, but we stayed up much longer, delved into some stories from both our pasts. I almost told him about you, but I didn't want to sour this evening. It was good to see him smile constantly while he talked about why he became a shuttle pilot in the first place, and I wanted to keep it this way. He really looks happier these days. It makes me happy, too. Oh bloody hell. So here it is. I'm a bit scared to admit it, but lately I feel... Something's happening. Something that feels wrong on so many levels. I mean, there's this frigging war in which we all could die any time, there's people dying everywhere, there's his dead husband he's just barely over, there's the fact that I still write these stupid letters to my first love. But then there's this feeling. I catch myself looking at him when he can't see, I'm happy whenever we talk. I feel calm around him, yet excited. I haven't felt like this in forever. It's messed up, but... it just feels nice, you know? To be around someone and finding strength, comfort in all this? To feel such a deep connection with someone for the first time since it happened with you? It's not like I'd tell him or anything, but... there, it's off my chest. Well, I should probably at least try to sleep now. Good night, Dee" Pics: Had a couple ME3MP Silver matches on PS3 again with stephenw32768 last night! Good times, good matches! Repeat soon

Heh, saw that coming a few updates ago. Dee must've been in denial when he was flirting with Kelly! Padok is an excellent character, totally different motivations to Mordin. ME3 must have been a heck of a challenge to write, with so many characters who might be present or absent; and if absent, requiring replacement plausible, interesting alternatives. Good games indeed, and we had the pleasure of firerider 's company as well. Here is a recording of one of the games from my perspective:

Heh, saw that coming a few updates ago. Dee must've been in denial when he was flirting with Kelly! Was it that obvious? Haha, well he had to make the most of Kelly's meetups, since it's over now... poor Kel! Agreed. And I honestly think they did an amazing job in ME3. There was lack of time, yet they still managed to make all these missions where ME2 characters could be absent a unique experience with plenty new dialogue. All of them are great to see and I'm just really happy to always discover something new! Hence why I'm hopelessly in love with these games It was nice to see the PS3 MP also isn't dead yet.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2 cont'd:
Omega 4 Relay
“The Collectors took my people. Time to get them back.” They were committed now, heading through the Omega 4 Relay, hoping to be the first ship – other than the Collector vessel – to return safely.
During the trip to the Omega Nebula, Miranda wished Shepard luck, and even saluted. Shepard was touched by the gesture, given how rocky the start to their relationship had been. She hoped that her actions had convinced Miranda that the Illusive Man's way of doing things wasn't the only way. Shepard spent the remainder of the journey alone in her quarters, reflecting, preparing herself mentally, and looking at the photo of Liara on her desk to remind herself that she had someone important to come back to.
TIM contacted Shep on the QEC to give a pep talk of his own. He seemed sincere, but Shepard still couldn't shake the feeling he had a hidden agenda of some sort.
The Normandy entered the relay, and all hell broke loose as they came through the other side. Debris everywhere, wreckage from ships that had tried - and failed – to enter the relay over the past who know how many millennia. Only Joker's piloting skill saved them from crashing and burning before even getting started. EDI quickly detected the Collector base on the edge of the accretion disk of the galactic core, and as expected, the Collectors sent out a welcoming party.
Flying drones called Oculus attacked, and one even penetrated the cargo hold, but Tali and Samara helped Shepard clear it out of there while Joker shook off the others by piloting through the debris field. The Collector cruiser was then came to intercept, but the Normandy's new Thanix Cannons made short work of it. A little bit of revenge for the Normandy SR1.
They were damaged in the battle, however, and were forced to crash land on the surface of the Collector base. Since that was their destination anyway, it wasn't the end of the world. Joker and EDI started working on getting the ship operational again, while Shepard and the crew discussed how to infiltrate the base.
Kasumi was tasked with entering a ventilation shaft to slip past the station defences and unlock a pair of doors that would allow the rest of the team access to the central chamber. Shepard, Tali, and Samara would protect Kasumi as she made her way through the vents, while Jacob led a distraction team that would hopefully draw the attention of the main Collector force. (Miranda, still believing she was second in command, attempted to volunteer herself for the job of team leader, but Shepard wanted someone with experience as a military officer. Miri's petty reaction to Jacob being given the job was telling).
Shepard ended the briefing with a pep talk, and the team exited the Normandy, determined to rescue their friends and end the Collector threat for good.
To be continued...

"Hey Alec, I'm just back from Noveria. It was nothing crazy like last time I was there, but we dealt Cerberus another blow. Hackett had requested help with a fighter base located there. The Alliance wanted to seize it for themselves, but the air defenses were too strong for a direct assault. That meant we had to come in by shuttle and infiltrate their facility from the back to shut down those defenses. Steve flew us in and we made our way to the command center. Naturally, Cerberus was everywhere, but we took care of them. EDI and I disabled the defenses and with a last effort Cerberus tried to stop us. They were in no luck. Cortez signaled the strike force to take over after we had cleared everything, so now the Alliance has a fighter base and we can use its ships in the war. It feels good to do these kind of things. Even if we aren't fighting on the front lines, every little bit counts. Every resource we can find helps. I also received a lovely e-mail from Urdnot Bakara. She wrote that she gathered a lot of support in the Kelphic Valley, krogan pouring in from everywhere. It must be quite the sight. Hearing all this makes me hopeful not only for the krogan, but for everyone. We all are fighting for something. We're currently on our way to the Citadel. I received a call from the salarian councilor recently and he told me that Udina is moving large sums of money and that this is a cause for concern. I agree, but Udina's always been a concern if you ask me. I'd rather leave this to C-Sec, but it can't hurt to check it out, so the councilor and I will meet up once we're there. It's probably also a good idea to stock up on some more things while we're there. Plus I laid my eyes on a sweet sniper rifle and can finally afford to buy it. Steve said he could order it for me from the Normandy, but it's a little cheaper if I buy this on the Citadel directly. Alright, gotta go now, I'm playing some poker with James and Steve. Talk soon! -Dee" The MP journey continues: Last night's Silver matches with my colleagues went super well. Also, no Collectors this time I played Asari Vanguard (really dig this character) with the Scimitar Shotgun and our last round consisted of us playing 3 Volus characters shield-boosting the crap out of everything, it was quite hilarious. I love watching them roll down stairs I also played a bit more with the N7 Shadow and got the N7 Paladin in one of my packs, which I look forward to (hopefully) play tonight. That kit sounds amazing! Damn addictive MP...

Turning off her head and her heart on Palaven was as difficult as she imagined it would be. Bringing Liara along was good at giving her a dose of empathy. Her lack of it in regards to the invasion of Earth has contributed to more fighting that anything else. Korynn still loves Liara, and intends on remaining loyal, but Liara needs to understand that just because they are asari, doesn't mean that Thessia will be spared this horror. Seeing her old friend Garrus was good. She gave him a hug, and Garrus poked at Korynn asking when she will marry Liara and if their first child would be named after him. Korynn laughed and said yes. Garrus thought she was joking, but little does he know that she and Liara already had this discussion. He also stated that the idea of the two of them having children together is an even bigger reason to win this war (fic). After Palaven it was off to the Citadel to pick up some supplies. Korynn had a chance to catch up with Commander Bailey. Seeing him in an Alliance uniform was a little startling, and the idea that C-Sec being a military arm is disturbing. However, now is not the time to worry about such things. After the war maybe. After that, it was on to Huerta Memorial. Korynn hates hospitals already, and it reminded her a lot of being in the lab when she was being held by Cerberus. There are foggy memories that Korynn has been trying to convince herself aren't real. She saw Ashley. Ashley is a fighter, and Korynn is confident that she'll pull through. It doesn't mean that seeing her broken and bloodied on a hospital bed isn't difficult. She talked with Ash for a few moments, and then came back before leaving. Ashley was asleep, so she passed a note containing some words of encouragement and a poetry book to Ashley's nurse for when she feels up to it. (fic) She had a chance to visit with EDI and thinks that her crush on Joker is amusing. Korynn is trying to steer them toward each other, but as subtly as she possibly can. She isn't as good at subtle. She also hopes that seeing her with Liara around the Normandy will give EDI a better idea of how to court another person. Speaking of, she had lunch with Liara, which gave her a chance to really talk with her. Seeing Liara's face light up when she talks about her work is cute, though, she reminded Liara that she needs to take time for herself every now and then. Korynn thought better of reminding Liara that the Citadel won't be spared either. Liara apologized for some of her behavior and explained that she doesn't handle tragedy well. She directed her to Barla Von to help with some critical assets for the war. Barla Von is always an interesting person. It was good to see him again in a way. Seeing him still wheeling and dealing on the Citadel makes her forget about all the lives lost when Sovereign attacked, and it gives her a sliver of hope that somehow, everything will be okay. It was amusing to hear him talk about the Shadow Broker and pass along "his" blessing, when Korynn had just been thinking about when the right time to propose to her would be. Upon leaving the Citadel, it was on to hunt down some critical assets for the war. During this time, Korynn got a chance to know James and Steve better, and visit with EDI. EDI's sense of humor is fantastic. Korynn made a note to invite EDI up for some girl talk. ------------ I also played ME3 multiplayer for the first time. It's so fun! I like it better than ME:A multiplayer. So far, I am really digging on the Asari Adept (took me forever to unlock that one), and Quarian Infiltrator. The controls are a little frustrating at times, so I am thinking of plugging in my XBox controller later.

Nick Shepard (Adept, Earthborn, Sole Survivor) told Ashley he loved her, kicked Cerberus's arse, fought his way across Earth with Ash and Liara by his side, convinced the Illusive Man to do a Saren and destroyed the Reapers (sorry EDI).

"Hi Alec. So things didn't quite turn out as expected. Instead of spending some time running errands on the Citadel, the station got attacked by Cerberus. Joker didn't get clearance to land, which was strange already, and then Thane contacted us and warned us about how Cerberus had taken over C-Sec. We immediately deployed the shuttle and Steve took us in. Cerberus was everywhere and they were causing some serious havoc. We managed to clear the outer C-Sec HQ area and ran into Bailey, shot but alive. He helped us get in and we formed a plan. Thane had said that Kaidan had gotten out safely and that he wanted to protect the Council, so the first step for us was to find the salarian councilor, who was supposed to meet with the Executor just today and had sent out a warning about betrayal from within to C-Sec. My team and I took off and had to fight through a lot of Cerberus troops, but we got to the Executor's office in time. The councilor was in there, alive. Unfortunately, an assassin showed up trying to change that. The councilor could just warn us that Udina was with the other council members right now, and that he had betrayed them, sold them out to Cerberus. The assassin wouldn't back down even with the 3 of us pointing our guns at him. That's when Thane stepped in and saved the Councilor. I didn't think he was still fit to fight, but he held his own, until... Man, this bloody bastard stabbed Thane with his sword. Yeah, he had a sword! The assassin is a troublemaker called Kai Leng, as I learned just now from Anderson and Hackett. Probably one of the Illusive Man's obedient pets. This asshole fled, and I called for medical help, but had to leave Thane behind to catch up to this guy. We borrowed a shuttle, but this bloody maniac jumped onto our shuttle's roof and stabbed his sword into it, then got off into another shuttle. We lost control and crash-landed right onto the Presidium. We went after Leng until we arrived at the Council elevators that would take us to a shuttle landing pad Bailey had told us about. This was where Udina led the other Council members. And Kaidan. But we were too late to catch the assassin and lost him. He was just faster than us. At least we were close to Kaidan and the rest of the Council, so we took the elevator up to warn them. Bailey bought us some time by making Leng's elevator stop at every floor, so we arrived at the landing pad first. When the door opened, Kaidan and I found ourselves in a really bad situation. We pointed our guns at each other, neither of us backing down. I saw the confusion and doubts in his eyes. About me, about Cerberus. Again. I tried to warn them about Udina's betrayal, about Cerberus coming for them. After a few seconds that felt way too long, Kaidan put his faith in me, but Udina wouldn't have it. He still tried to get away with all this, even pointed a gun at the asari councilor. Kaidan took the shot. Bailey arrived and backed up my story about Cerberus trying to get to the Council, but the assassin never showed up. Lucky for them. Kaidan, the Council and I went our separate ways and I accompanied Bailey back to his office. He told me that no one had found the assassin, and that they still don't know what Udina was trying to do here. He was used by Cerberus, but he still helped these assholes. Bailey also told me Thane had been taken to the hospital, and that it looked bad. I went to see him. Kolyat was there, too. He had donated blood, but Thane's illness made it impossible for him to recover. This was goodbye. Kolyat started reading from a prayer book, and asked me to join him. It was hard to do, but I wanted to do it for Thane. I'll always be grateful for his help against the Collectors, for his help saving the salarian councilor. For being kind enough to keep an eye on Kaidan while he was battling his illness. Kolyat and I watched Thane go. What a shitty day, Alec. So many people died at Cerberus's hands again, our own councilor betrayed us, Thane was taken from us. I wanted nothing more than to get back to the ship and be alone for a while. But at the Normandy's docking bay Kaidan was waiting for me. We talked through what had happened. He couldn't shake the feeling that I would've pulled the trigger if he hadn't backed down. I have to admit that I was shocked and hurt he didn't trust me. I thought we were over our trust issues. No way I'd ever shoot one of my friends. But anyway, once again we've cleared the air, Kaidan promising to never doubt me again. And he finally joined us on the Normandy. It's good to have him back, and I will check in on him and the others first thing in the morning, but I really wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone just now. Seeing Thane die like that wasn't exactly something I wanted to witness. I hate this. He died saving someone, but he still died. Just tonight, I'm allowing myself to wallow in my sadness and toast to an old friend until I'm drunk enough to ease the pain. So here's to you, Thane. -Dee" The coup: ME3MP went fine last night, N7 Shadow was fun again, the Paladin was fun (especially since one of my buddies played a Vorcha with the Flamer ). Cryo explosions everywheeere! Then we pushed our luck, played 3 Volus (Voli?) again for the last game and bam, Collectors in London. It was surprisingly fine at first, terrible from Wave 8 on. At some point 3 dead Volus lay on top of each other We had a pretty good random player with us though, and we actually all extracted. I rolled by a Praetorian down the stairs just to run like crazy and reach the Extraction zone with only a few seconds left. So much for a last relaxing match

"Hey Alec. Kept myself pretty busy yesterday. After sleeping way too long because of that damn bottle I drank, I started the day by checking in on my crew. Kaidan has settled in, but he had some bad news. He told me his father is MIA, presumably dead. At least his mum's still alive, but... damn. This war is going to cost us so much. And when I went down to Engineering, I overheard Ken saying that Kelly is dead. Killed by Cerberus during the coup. I couldn't believe it, but later some people in the refugee area on the Citadel were talking about it too. They shot her in the head, Alec! Fucking bastards. She should've come to the Normandy, she'd have been safe here. I still can't believe she's really gone. It's terrible. To survive a Collector abduction just to be killed like that... I forced myself to go out and get some shit done. Dr. Chakwas had asked me to negotiate a trade with a turian called Tactus, a leader figure for some refugees that had recently arrived. They had military supplies, we had medical supplies. It took some convincing, but in the end he agreed. That reminds me I have yet to tell the doc that she can expect these supplies soon. Prior to speaking with Tactus in the refugee area, I ran into a salarian in search of footage for a documentary. He wasn't allowed to take it, and asked me if I could do it. I agreed because it might raise morale for the war effort. Maybe it inspires some people to help someone in need or join our fight against the Reapers. I then headed to the Embassies to have another chat with Bailey. He's good considering he just got shot 2 days ago, but there were no news about Udina's role in all this. While I was at the Embassies I also checked the Spectre requisitions and bought that Sniper Rifle I told you about. It looks bloody gorgeous and I can't wait to try it out. Afterwards I followed a lead Primarch Victus had passed on to me about the volus ambassador being a Cerberus mole. The volus had cut ties with Cerberus after the coup, but now the turians wanted him dead because he was the only one that knew of the location of a turian cruiser that was attacked by Cerberus. I was able to save the ambassador with the help of Zaeed, who happened to be part of a group of bounty hunters that captured the volus, Din Korlack. I had managed to contact Korlack to find him in time and told him to mention my name to Zaeed, so Zaeed took care of the bounty hunters. It's funny. I remember Korlack. When I was on the Citadel the first time, he wasn't too friendly to me. He didn't like humans. But now I saved his ass and after pressing him a little, he gave me the volus bomber fleet for the war and the name of a turian colony that was about to be hit by Cerberus. I'd say the score is settled. I caught up with Zaeed at the refugee camp a little later and he joined the war effort. It was good to hear from him and that he now fights with us, even if I never warmed up to him. But we can use every single person that's capable of facing something as terrifying as the Reapers, and he still has some old contacts. After everything was taken care of I headed over to Purgatory. Steve had mentioned earlier that he planned to go there in the evening for drinks, and that I should join him. Didn't need to think twice about this. I first caught Joker sitting by the lower bar, watching people dance. He asked me what I think about him and EDI and I told him to go for it. I mean, why the hell not? Everyone can see how much they like each other, and I sure as hell won't judge that he's dating a robot now. Plus, EDI's becoming strangely close to a real person lately anyway. I hope he has fun, he deserves a little happiness. I found Steve in the upper area of the club near the dancefloor and we ordered a drink. The atmosphere was nice with the music and dancing around us, and well... We started flirting a little, and he asked me to dance with him. He told me how he always worries about me while I'm out there fighting, and said that I'm a good friend to him. I told him I'd like him to be more than just my friend. I know, I said I wouldn't tell him, but when we were dancing I felt something between us. A spark, a longing, and I could see it in his eyes too, so I took this chance. We kissed and ended up in my cabin. I asked Steve to stay the night, and this is the first morning after that I don't regret anything for even one second. I'm happy, Alec. I'm scared to death about the future, about losing him in this war, but truly happy at the same time. It feels right. I want this man in my life. Steve's taking a shower right now and I'm still in bed. I could just stay here forever, but unfortunately, duty calls. We're going to Arrae. Traynor found something that might be worth chasing. A couple of Ex-Cerberus scientists apparently try to hide from their former employer. I'm very careful about this, but if they truly split from Cerberus and they're not showing any signs of indoctrination, we could use them for the Crucible. No matter what terrible things Cerberus did, their scientists are smart, and on the right side, they could do a lot of good. I won't hold my breath, but here's hoping this all works out well. -Dee" Pics!

Finally got caught up with everyone's posts after not having viewed this site in almost a week? (I hope I do not do that again.) Anyway, time to catch up on my own playthrough...
Admiral Hackett ordered Ahmed Shepard and his crew to take some shore leave. Ahmed was not sure about taking shore leave when so much more needed to be done, especially since they had not seem some really heavy fighting. But since orders are orders...
Ahmed docked the Normandy at the Citadel and took a trip to visit Captain Anderson's apartment that Hackett mentioned. The apartment was large and well-furnished. The apartment also looked clean, so maybe it had maid service as well.
As luck would have it, Anderson called to see how Ahmed was doing. Ahmed felt a little guilty that Anderson kept calling him, while it was Anderson who probably most needed encouragement as they fought a losing battle on Earth. After some small talk, Anderson gifted Ahmed the apartment. Ahmed refused to take it at first, but after Anderson insisted, Ahmed relented and accepted the apartment. Anderson got off the call soon after.
Ahmed then took some time to look around the apartment. It had three bedrooms, a hot tub, even a bar. The study also had a small library that had several books. Anderson -- or maybe it was Kahlee Sanders -- was a fan of Matriarch Dalinaga's collection of writings.
Ahmed then got a message from Joker inviting him to lunch for sushi. Ahmed is not a fan of sushi, but he was hungry and he couold think of worse things than lunch with Joker.
Speaking of worse things, the lunch was interrupted by a woman identifying herself as Agent Brooks of the Alliance. Brooks informed Shepard that some people were trying to kill him, and that they were attempting to hack his accounts.
And speaking of people wanting to kill Shepard, some armed mercs sauntered into the restaurant and starting shooting. The apparent leader of the group demanded that someone bring him Shepard.
Hacking his accounts, trying to kill him, and interrupting his lunch (they weren't even served yet!) all served one purpose: to make Ahmed Shepard mad. And when Ahmed Shepard gets mad, he likes to enact violence on other violent people. Ahmed crushed one merc's chest with a biotic punch and stole his gun, then ran and grabbed another merc and stabbed him with his Omni Tool for some variety.
He helped Brooks get to her feet, only for her to push him away when another merc started shooting. Unfortunately Brooks got shot, and then the glass floor/fishtank shattered from under Ahmed and he fell down several stories. Ahmed managed to survive the fall and still have the gun he had grabbed earlier.
Ahmed picked his way to a used skycar lot where he could meat up with Brooks and his team. A whole lot more mercs were standing in his way, but they did not stay standing for long. Ahmed heard one of the mercs say "I can't believe they let Shepard past the walkway. Those guys are idiots!" Ahmed made sure to let him know that you are only an 'idiot' if you get in his way.
Liara met him at the car lot. A C-Sec shuttle arrived, but it was filled with more mercs. James showed up with a Cobra missile launcher and took out the shuttle. The three of them then held off an assault by the mercs until Joker arrived in a shuttle.

Back at the apartment, Ahmed Shepard and his team formulated a plan. Liara traced the gun back to an arms dealer named Elijah Khan. She had got hold of a call between Khan and the buyer. The buyer was using a voice disguiser so it was impossible to know who the buyer was from the call, so they would have to talk to Khan. Khan was a casino owner and was holed up in the casino panic room. They needed to get to the Khan in the panic room, and to do that, they needed to get into the casino. Luckily, the casino was holding a charity event, so they got some tickets. The tough part: getting to the panic room undetected. The plan: Ahmed and Garrus would patrol the casino floor while Brooks worked her way through the ventilation system. Together, they could disable security so they could get into the panic room. Ahmed Shepard adjusted his pants for what seemed like the hundredth time.
"I hate wearing suits," he complained. "Only thing worse would be shorts."
"Just think of it as another uniform," Garrus suggested.
"Did I ever tell you how much I hate wearing uniforms?"
"But you always wear a uniform."
"Because Alliance regulations say I have to wear a uniform." Ahmed explained. "God, I hate casinos."
"Is there anything you do like?"
"Killing mercs?" Ahmed suggested.
"Outside of combat, I mean."
Ahmed thought for a moment.
"I can't think of anything."
"You're not a fun person to be around," Garrus noted.
"Shut up, Garrus."
Ahmed and Garrus strolled around the casino floor, taking in the sights and sounds of the casino patrons talking, laughing, and losing their money to the gambling games.
"Hey," said Garrus. "Isn't that Shiara, the Consort?"
Ahmed glanced over to where Garrus was looking. An Asari was seated at a table, holding the attention of several people, mostly human.
"Yeah, that's Sharia," Ahmed confirmed.
"You want to go say hello?" Garrus asked.
"Not really."
"You don't want more advice?"
"No."
"Maybe another trinket?"
"No."
"Maybe another 'gift'?"
"I prefer the advice."
When Brooks, Shepard, and Garrus finally made it into the panic room, they found Khan already dead. They used his terminal to trace back his calls and contacted the weapons buyer. The buyer's image was also disguised so they could not identify him. The buyer threatened to destroy Shepard's life. Ahmed mocked him for his last attempt and said he would have to try harder. Ahmed took the terminal back to the apartment for study. The terminal revealed that the CAT6 merc group (the group that tried to kill Shepard at the sushi bar) had been buying a lot of weapons. Then Glyph relayed an alert that indicated the Citadel Archives were being raided. Ahmed and the entire team then went to go investigate. No sooner had they entered the archives when they were attacked by the CAT6 mercs. The fight quickly swung in Team Normandy's favor until the CAT6 leader got a hold of Brooks and told everyone to stand down. The leader then revealed himself to be... Ahmed Shepard. Or rather a clone of Ahmed Shepard. The clone told Shepard of his plan to take the Normandy. Ahmed tried calling the Normandy, but the clone was one step ahead. The clone had the call blocked, then called the Normandy himself using the same frequency. The clone walked away with an order to execute Team Normandy. The CAT6 mercs were too slow following the order, so Ahmed and Team Normandy took advantage of the hesitation and they fought back. After killing the mercs, they chased after the clone. But the clone had planned ahead, managing to trap Ahmed and his team in vaults. It helped that he had help in the form of Brooks, who had been playing Shepard the entire time. Brooks and the clone explained they wanted his Spectre access codes, but he kept surviving the hits and spoiling their other plans. The goal was to replace Shepard's fingerprints in the database with the clone's so the clone could become Shepard and fulfill the pro-human goals of Brooks. Brooks explained that she had broken away from Cerberus when the Illusive Man turned to aliens for help when he tasked Shepard to take down the Collectors. Brooks and the clone had expected that trapping Ahmed and his team in the vaults would stop him (and kill them when they ran out of air), but Glyph got them out of the vaults. Ahmed took EDI and Garrus in a skycar to the Normandy and snuck on board with Traynor's help. Ahmed finally confronted the clone in the Normandy's cargo bay in a showdown of who was the better Shepard. The fight was intense, but eventually Ahmed prevailed and literally kicked the clone of the ship. Ahmed then shot Brooks to leave no loose ends. Video of the fight with the clone:

Been taking a break from my ME 2 playthrough for a few days (actually started up an MEA playthrough) but I am thinking I will head back into ME2 either later today or tonight. Only 2 more missions away from the collector ship and picking up that glorious ME 2 version of the Mattock.

Well I jumped back into ME 2 tonight and Tracy recruited an old friend by blowing up a bunch of Geth just like old times. Then she went back to Illium and got an Asari justicar on board of all people.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2 cont'd:
Collector Base: Infiltration
Kasumi entered the ventilation shaft that would take past the Collector defences into the heart of the base, while Shepard, Tali and Samara would try and keep up by following the path of the vent and keeping the Collector forces off of her. Jacob took the rest of the crew on an alternate route try and draw the Collectors away.
Kasumi's path was blocked a few of times, and she became concerned about the excessive heat building up in the vent, but Shepard simply had to open a few valves from her side to let Kasumi through. Well, “simply” except for the hordes of Collectors trying to kill them. They got through it OK, and periodic updates from Jacob indicated that his team weren't encountering anything they couldn't handle either. Shepard was proud of the way everyone was working together to get the job done.
Kasumi made it through, and was able to hack both of the security doors to let Shepard's and Jacob's teams in. They found themselves in the central chamber, filled with countless stasis pods, including one with a colonist and others with the Normandy crew trapped inside. As they investigated, a colonist in one of the pods was suddenly in great distress, screaming as her body basically disintegrated before their eyes. It was horrific, and everyone moved as quickly as possible to free the crew before they suffered the same fate.
They got everyone else out in time, and Dr Chakwas described how the colonists' bodies were “processed. Those swarms of little robots, they ... melted their bodies into grey liquid and pumped it through these tubes.” Shepard asked Kasumi to escort the crew back to the Normandy – after almost getting getting cooked alive in the vents, she deserved finish the mission with would hopefully be an easy job.
Collector Base: The Long Walk
The rest would have to split up again, and Shepard's team would need to get through a room filled with seeker swarms – too many for Mordin's armour modifications to be effective. Samara theorized that a biotic protection field could be used bring a small team through. Shepard wanted Samara with her in her fire team, so she asked Jack to maintain the field. The two of them were the most powerful biotics in the team, and hopefully Samara could assist if Jack started to struggle to maintain the field. Once again, Jacob took command of the distraction team.
Shepard, Tali, and Samara stayed under the biotic bubble Jack was using to keep out the seeker swarms. Collectors, husks and scions tried to stop them at various points, but they were able to hold them off. Jacob got his team through without any problems, and Joker advised that Kasumi and the crew had arrived safely at the Normandy. Things were going as well as could be expected, so far.
The last step was to take a platform to the main command centre, which they could overload to destroy the base. Shepard took Tali and Samara with her, while everyone else guarded the entrance to keep the Collectors from overwhelming them.
To be continued...

From Thursday: "Hi Alec! Well that was a surprise. When we touched down on Gellix to check out these ex-Cerberus scientists, we found Jacob next to the entrance of the facility they were hiding in! He had been wounded, as Cerberus was already onto the scientists, but he was at least breathing and doing relatively fine for having just been shot. A scientist called Dr. Brynn Cole let us in and explained their situation to us. The scientists had brought their families with them, spouses, partners, even kids! I just had to try my best to get them out of there. Oh, I also ran into Dr. Gavin Archer. The fucking prick that tortured his own brother. He had heard about Grissom Academy being attacked, and I really thought about whether I should tell him or not that David was safe. But I did, because for all that he has done, he looked sincerely worried now. I think he really did realise what a bloody inhumane thing he did. In order to get everyone out of the facility, the AA guns on the roof had to be fixed. They were offline because Cerberus jammed them, and Jacob said he'd do it, but I managed to convince him to lay low and get looked at in the med bay. I caught up with him a little and he told me how he came to protect those people, that he quit Cerberus after our mission was done and that some time later Dr. Cole, who he has known now for a year, asked for his help in getting away from Cerberus. It was nice talking to him, but we had to take care of the guns, so my team and I headed there. Jacob kept in radio contact with us to talk us through the process. After we had successfully driven off Cerberus and the AA guns finally were back online, we were ready to evacuate everyone. The first shuttle was out when Cerberus came in through the windows. We had to act fast. I sent Jacob and the scientists for the shuttles to get all of them out of there while my team and I dealt with any Cerberus troops left. They were out there in force, but we made it to the landing pad and Jacob and Dr. Cole picked us up with their shuttle. I requested that Dr. Cole and the scientists work on the Crucible, and Dr. Cole happily accepted. Jacob wanted to stay with them. He and Dr. Cole are together and I hope they will both be safe over there. Back on the Normandy I found Kaidan in the crew quarters. He asked me about the goodness of Cerberus people. It's certainly true not all of them are barbaric bastards, but it's still hard to tell what really drives some of these people and how far they are willing to go in the name of science. But sure, the ones I met on Gellix seemed to be nice and they saw how dangerous Cerberus could get, and Kaidan asked what we'd do if more people come forward, want to get away from Cerberus. I told him we're helping anyone who requests our help. If they want to get away from Cerberus, I'll gladly do so. We have to be careful of course, but I reassured Kaidan we'd do our best. Every person away from the Illusive Man is one person less near his fucked up experiments. Dr. Chakwas - or Karin, how she now wants me to call her - invited me for drinks. Our promise to share a bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy once a year. It's not been a whole year yet, but who am I to argue if there's drinks? We had a lovely time and we should really do this again. If we all live one year from now. The evening was even more fun when Traynor came over to my cabin to play some chess with me. She absolutely destroyed me, she's really good. Obviously I'm rusty, but she definitely knows her stuff with this game. It's getting quite late, but I'm gonna head down to Steve now and see what he's up to. Knowing him it's prepping the shuttle or checking some parts. That man never rests, so I'll just go distract him for a little bit. -Dee" Pics! Yay, got the visor back Hey Jacob! Haha, oh yes. Perhaps, EDI. But you didn't say anything to him at all during the mission!! Good for you, Archer. Satisfying shots Another talk I really like with Kaidan. Heated chess match with Traynor! One death, because of course I had to stay inside the grenade radius after dodging it shortly before the mission ends But the Black Widow is very nice. Now it doesn't matter that much if I fuck up a shot It might still take a while before I'm fully used to it, but so far it's been rather comfortable. In ME3MP, my colleagues and I also cheesed through 2 Gold matches vs Geth with 2 Paladins and one Vorcha Sentinel. Those were some serious explosions and credits They were the most relaxing Gold matches I've had so far, hehe.

I'm considering redoing the suicide mission as this Shepard, metagaming it so different characters die, and importing that into ME3 so I can see some different content without having to do a whole new playthrough. I'd also mix things up in ME3 with different weapons and bonus power. I did the suicide mission for this, making suboptimal choices to eliminate Jacob, Garrus, Jack and Thane from ME3. This Shepard is a Paragon, so the Collector base was destroyed. Media: Always nice to see my canon biotic Shepard. This is what "Commander Shepard" looks like; all other Sheps are alternate realities Yes, he did: Awesome shot: A somewhat min-maxed build: It's called "character development", Jack: Legion has a Renegade side. Who knew? I love that this is the Paragon option: I'm sure Jack will appreciate a casket with a Cerberus sigil on it: Mission accomplished... Shepard without Vakarian: Watch as I almost get dropped by Harbinger when mashing the Charge button (should've just shot him) and miss the Reaper larva with the Cain:

I love Jack's (obviously), and Legion's is really interesting too. I need to switch around some more in my upcoming runs Some progress from yesterday: "Hey Alec. Today was unpleasant. Some time ago Liara had told me about about a distrass signal originating from an asari monastery. That commandos had been sent to investigate, but none of them came back. I knew we should've gone there earlier, I knew it. If we had, we might have gotten out more asari alive. When we arrived, the place was already dark, not a single soul there, except one shuttle that was still warm. Further in we bumped into the person it belonged to, Samara. I wouldn't have thought I'd meet her again just like that, but she came to find her daughters, because this monastery was actually a place for Ardat-Yakshi. But things looked really bad. Reapers had overrun it, and soon we learned that they had already started turning the Ardat-Yakshi too. I've seen my fair share of horrific things, but those reaperised asari were just outright hideous. Their screams set my teeth on edge, and they look terrifying. And there were a lot of them out there. Yeah, it was as it sounds. There weren't any Ardat-Yakshi left alive in there, with the exception of Samara's daughters. We ran into one of them, Falere, her youngest. It was her that told us what the Reapers were doing there, and that her sister Rila had been taken by them. She was located in the Great Hall, where the commandos, none of them alive either, had planted a bomb to make sure that none of the Ardat-Yakshi, reaperised or not, got out of the monastery. Drastic measures, and a messed up one had there been any normal Ardat-Yakshi left, but now that the situation had changed I too wanted to blow up this place. Make sure none of these Reaper troops got away. We did find Rila in the Great Hall, but unfortunately, it was too late for her. The Reapers had already started to turn her... After getting rid of some more Reaper forces that showed up, we found out that Rila had the detonater for the bomb all along. And she wanted to stay behind to blow it up. In her place, I probably would've chosen the same. Better to die as yourself than being turned into something that's not even remotely the person it used to be. Alec, it was terrible. Of course Falere didn't want to leave her sister and I had to drag her to the elevator with me. The explosion a few moments later shook the whole perimeter, but it was done. We were out and safe. Things turned dicey a moment later when Samara tried to kill herself. Yeah. Her code wouldn't have allowed her to let her daughter live outside the monastery, but she wanted her to. Her way out, the only way she'd be able to according to the code was to take her own life, so she put a gun to her head. Of course I stopped her. They can both live, they're family! Fuck this bloody code. How could she even consider to end her own life and leave behind her only daughter, who had just lost her sister and was grieving enough already? I'm glad Falere reassured Samara that she doesn't violate her code if Falere stays at the monastery. She would never leave. I told Samara she could stay with her, but she wanted to join us in the war. Bloody hell. If we had just come earlier, maybe... maybe it wouldn't have just been Falere. I hate this war, I just hate it. I am aware that we can't save everyone, but... it's just no consolation at all. Poor girl. She's all alone now. She has no one left at the monastery. Not even anyone to talk to. I hope she's going to be allright, and I can only hope she and Samara can reunite someday. The positive thing that came out of it was that the asari started to send support for the war and the Crucible. The salarians do now as well. We're getting there. Slowly, but we'll get there. Eventually. Well, it's time to finish up this letter. I asked the others if we could meet up for some poker. I just want to forget about what happened today. Seeing a family getting ripped apart like that is not something I'll ever get used to, but I hope I can still enjoy this evening. Kaidan's joining us for the first time. Should be interesting to see whether he can win against James. Steve and I barely manage to ever do it, and we've been playing with him for a while now. Talk soon, Dee" Pics: Another death, warped in the back by one of the banshees Frigging things. I think I'll just keep using EDI. I wanted to take Kaidan along for his Cryo Blast, but EDI's dialogues are mostly new to me, and I enjoy them Plus I had Kaidan with me in my last run already. Also had another couple Silver matches on the PS3 last night with stephenw32768, playing with my Drell Adept and Human Sentinel. Drell Adept is so much fun to play and I can't wait to get some grenade upgrade gear.

Drell Adept is so much fun to play and I can't wait to get some grenade upgrade gear. The scrubbery was particularly strong with me yesterday, I spent most of the time taking dirt naps while your drelldept tore the place up I met this headless Abomination in the London game. Doesn't he know that it's too early for Hallowe'en?
