Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Mars – Prothean Archives
Shepard, Ashley and James took a shuttle down to the surface of Mars, to the site of the Alliance base dedicated to the study of the Prothean ruins found there. Joker and EDI informed them that no one from the base was responding to communications from the Normandy. Sounded like there might be trouble.
Sure enough, they found Cerberus troops had attacked the facility. As if a Reaper invasion wasn't bad enough they now had Cerberus attacking the Alliance as well. Ashley was understandably concerned, given Shepard's past ties to the organization. Shepard and James tried to reassure her that the commander didn't have anything to do with them anymore, but deep down Shepard knew that words wouldn't win back Ashley's trust, only actions. An organization Shepard had helped in the past was now executing Alliance personnel – she felt sick about it, so she didn't blame Ashley for her reaction one bit.
They ran into Liara shortly after entering the base. She'd been sent there by Hackett to look through the Prothean Archives for anything useful for combating the Reapers. She was trying to get away from some Cerberus troops through the heating ducts, and making a hell of a racket in the process. (Which again made Shepard wonder how the boy on Earth had managed to get away from her without making a sound. She was starting to wonder if she imagined the whole thing.)
Liara confirmed Hackett's intel – the archives contained plans for a Prothean “device” that could potentially be used to defeat the Reapers. Cerberus was obviously after the same thing. Shep asked Liara to take them to where the data was stored, while James returned to the shuttle in case Cerberus got to it first and tried to escape. With everything that was going on, Shepard was relieved to have Liara by her side again; she'd missed her.
They made their way through the facility, taking out Cerberus as they went, and eventually arrived in the cafeteria. Cerberus had opened the airlock, suffocating dozens of people. These were some of humanities brightest scientists and researchers, people who might have been able to help come up with ways to fight the Reapers, and Cerberus had just killed them not because they posed any threat but because they were in the way. It was disheartening to see, and not for the first time Shepard regretted ever having had anything to do with that organization.
They security footage that implicated Dr. Eva Core, a researcher that Liara said arrived one week before, as the one who depressurized the room. Cerberus had received help from the inside, that's how they were able to take the facility so easily.
While searching for a way to draw Cerberus out, Ashley made a disturbing discovery. She removed the helmet from one of the dead Cerberus troops and found a human with all kinds of implants that made him look like a husk. Shepard had long suspected that, back when she was fighting the Collectors, that the Illusive Man hadn't been the slightest bit concerned about saving colonies from the Collectors, he had just wanted their technology all along. This seemed to confirm it. He was using similar methods that the Reapers used to direct the Collectors to control his own troops. Who knows what kind of abominations they'd be facing if Shepard had handed the Collector Base over to TIM instead of destroying it.
They made it to the Archives, and located the data Liara specified. TIM contacted them via QEC, but it turned out to just be a distraction which Shepard fell for. Fortunately, Ashley has been searching the area and found Dr. Eva Core, the Cerberus operative, while Shepard and Liara argued with TIM. She was attempting to steal and then delete the Prothean data, but when Ashley interrupted she ran.
Shepard and friends gave chase, but couldn't catch up with her before she reached the shuttle pad. Thankfully, the cavalry - a.k.a. James Vega in the shuttle - arrived just in time to stop the them from taking off. Dr. Core emerged from the flaming Cerberus shuttle, but she wasn't Dr. Core at all, but some sort of infiltration mech. The mech attacked Ashley, wounding her badly, before Shepard took it down. Shepard, Liara and James took Ashley and the mech, and boarded the Normandy just as Reaper ships arrived in Mars orbit.

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Tuchanka: Miriam, Liara and EDI assisted the turian Ninth Platoon with their mission to disarm a bomb that had fallen into Cerberus' hands. ---------- Liara unholstered her pistol, deactivated her biotic amp and stowed them both in her locker. She turned to her commanding officer who was doing the same. "How was the new rifle?" she asked. Miriam regarded the Phaeston, salvaged from a fallen member of the Ninth Platoon. "A bit heavier than human-designed rifles, but the suit's ergo package can handle it. Hits harder than the Avenger. Nicely balanced. It's a good gun." She paused for a moment. "I'm going to call it 'Tarquin'." Liara smiled slightly. "A fitting tribute." ---------- Media: I love when I send them flying, Wheeee! Even the Shadow Broker has ethical standards: Why are you messing about with the Cutscene Avenger when you have a perfectly good Phaeston stashed on your back? Garrus' death is still raw: Watch as I almost blow the second part when I let a trooper flank me.

I haven't posted much about my renegade biotic, Alex, but I'm still playing him in ME1. The next time I'm able to play, he will be taking down a giant plant, then the next planet left will be Virmire. Since Alex is romancing Ashley, Kaidan will be the one biting the dust again. I almost got stealthmanced by Liara AGAIN, and this Shepard isn't even nice to her Shepard told her off and went to flirt with Ashley instead, so I think it'll turn out ok. I'm enjoying ME1 so much more this playthrough, now that I'm taking my time and not itching to play ME2 again. I've even learned to... appreciate the Mako. Yep, I said it. Stupid thing.

Woooow. How is it that I just now unlocked a Phantom outfit for Shepard? My friend told me 9999 point in combat simulator will get you Phantom armor. And I just unlocked it for my femshep, and I'm a fan. Its snug in all the right places. I prefer to think she looks more like the Shadow from MP though. Wish you could edit the color though.

From this weekend and the weekend before One day I'm going to finish this run! "Hi Alec, first day of shore leave is over. I had a great time with some of my crew. First Traynor and I were supposed to meet for lunch at the arcade, but she forgot, as she was in the middle of a tournament when I showed up. Some space chess thing. She won, which was pretty neat to witness. EDI came by the apartment later on and we did some shopping together. Yes, I know how this sounds... She's an AI. But she has become much more than that. She loves the crew, she loves Joker. And she's valuable to me. She actually became a friend, someone I treat as a person. Next up was Javik, who wanted me to join him at a set he was invited to. A vid they currently film, but it kinda sucks. So we got out of there as quickly as we could. Then James came over to show me his N7 tattoo. Looks good and I hope he can start with the actual training someday. We had a nice time, but he had to get back to the Normandy to help Steve with the shuttle. By now I know why he wanted James to help... I initially thought Steve wouldn't be able to get away from the shuttle, so I met up with Miranda and then Liara in the meantime. Liara taught me a song on the piano and after she had left I did receive a message from Steve that he wanted to share something with me. He picked me up with the shuttle and we had a crazy ride. Speedy. So much fun. Never seen Steve so carefree in the shuttle either, since he's usually dropping me off in the worst places. It was really great to unwind like that. I could definitely get used to this kind of shore leave. Hey again. Man, what a day. First I had to bail out Grunt, who was involved in an incident with C-Sec. His mates broke him out of the hospital and they did some... fun things. Like setting a C-Sec shuttle on fire. Okay, I admit I still do chuckle when I think about it. Then I met up with Jacob for some arcade gaming and afterwards I bumped into Zaeed there. Lost too many credits playing a claw game... but it was fun. I should take Steve, Kaidan and James for some gambling. Someday. After Traynor and Samara had stopped by the apartment we held a memorial service for Thane with a few people from the old crew, and Kolyat, Bailey, and even the salarian councilor. Sure brought back some memories. Some good, some bad. I was glad I had planned to meet up with Miranda afterwards for a night out at the casino. Though I first ran into Kasumi there. She and a few friends stole money from the rich to give to the poor. The refugees can definitely use it. I let Kasumi do her thing and met up with Miranda. She and I had a lot of fun. It was perfect to forget about the service prior to this, and to forget about everything else. Miranda has become a dear friend and it was great to spend some time with her and see her relaxed like that. We had some wine - a lot of it actually - and when we split I went up to the bar. Was in the mood to drink even more. I saw Joker there, fabricating a story about his heroic deeds to get free drinks. A little support from my side didn't hurt. It was nice to spend some time with him and not get interrupted this time. After a couple more drinks I'm now back at the apartment, waiting for Steve. He and James are out tonight. James cashed in one of his won bets and dragged Steve to the local combat simulator. Can't wait to hear how that went. But I'm slightly (ok, maybe a lot) drunk and I think I might need to lay down a bit right now. Morning, Alec. Yesterday was another great day. I got to spend some time doing nothing but relaxing in the apartment. Kaidan visited and cooked dinner for us, we had steak. He's a good cook, although I couldn't help but tease him a little while he prepared it. Then I watched a vid with Tali. She's into some highly questionable romantic stuff, but we had a great time nonetheless. We all got a soft spot for a terrible thing or two, right? I sure still remember yours. Steve and James came by afterwards and we watched a biotiball game together. We had snacks and drinks and it was a fun night. I had no clue sports could be so much fun. I was never really into it, but I liked it. We made silly jokes about actually going to a game. I really don't want it to be a joke. I want to do this. And soon, the first step into making it a reality will be here. This morning I received a message that the Normandy will be ready by tomorrow. That means it'll be our last day. Party is definitely on tonight. I'll have to get the supplies and prepare everything. Man, I really can't wait. Spending this evening before shit hits the fan with so many people I care for will be perfect. I'm going to get so drunk and then dance and then drink some more and totally get laid. -Dee So, I just met Wrex when I picked up the supplies from the casino's bar. Had a drink together and he's in too tonight! Party is a go." Pics: As usual I've been playing a lot of MP with my friends from work. Still play mostly Silver (and getting a little too ballsy sometimes ), but also did more Gold matches too. Can't wait to level up some more Gold weapons to do some decent damage with them. Also had my first pretty annoying pug game... Someone used the mic all the time while watching TV or something and constantly talking with someone else. It was actually hard to concentrate

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Normandy
They escaped from Mars just as the Reapers were arriving, and Joker set course for the Citadel. They had no doctor on board, and Ashley was seriously hurt. Liara and Shepard went to the comm room for a debrief with Admiral Hackett, where Liara informed them that the Prothean data they'd recovered from Mars contained blueprints for some sort of weapon that might be powerful enough to stop the Reapers.
Admiral Hackett told Shepard to inform the Council of what they'd found and try and get their support.
Citadel
Paramedics took Ashley to Huerta Memorial Hospital on the Presidium, while former C-Sec Captain now Commander Bailey greeted Shepard to arrange the meeting with the Council. Bailey didn't seem too enamoured with his promotion or his new duties (“political BS and escorting dignitaries around” was how he described it).
Shepard was about to head up to the hospital when she ran into an Alliance reporter, Diana Allers, who wanted to be embedded on the Normandy. Shepard figured getting some propaganda out about the Normandy's actions might be useful, so she agreed to allow Allers on board on a trial basis.
Shepard went to see Ashley, but she was still unconscious and they couldn't talk. She did run in to Dr. Chakwas, who'd been working on the Citadel since Shepard turned herself over to the Alliance, and invited her back to the Normandy.
Dr. Chloe Michel, who'd helped Shepard find evidence against Saren all those years ago, was Ashley's physician. She informed Shepard that Ashley's injuries were severe but her prognosis looked good.
Shepard and Liara met with the Council. They asked about the blueprints for the Prothean device they'd found, but didn't feel they were in position to bring assistance to Earth at this point. Shepard understood; Palaven was already under attack, asari and salarian space would likely be next, and who knows where else. They'd have to come together to coordinate their counteroffensive at some point, but for now everyone was just scrambling to survive, and Shep would have to try and gather resources for Prothean device herself for the time being. A Spectre's work was never done.
After the meeting, turian Councillor Sparatus met with Udina and Shepard privately. He suggested she seek out Primarch Fedorian, extract him from the warzone, and assist with a war summit he was organizing. It was a good idea, with the Council struggling with their own problems at the moment, working directly with the turian government / military would likely be more productive. It was no surprise that it was the turian councillor who was the first to offer help, given the militaristic nature of their society – they could be a pain in the butt during peacetime, but when the shooting starts they're the first ones to step up.
Shepard was interviewed once again by Khalisah Al-Jilani, who was clearly distraught at the reports of the attack on Earth. Shepard tried to reassure her, and encouraged her to continue to hold the Council's feet to the fire.
After checking for intel at the Spectre office, Shepard returned to the docking bay to so she could get back on board the Normandy. It was time to go rescue a Primarch.

I recently completed Omega DLC. I still kind of hate it because I hate Aria. But I discovered two new things that impressed me.
1. If you are an Engineer, you can circumvent the whole decision at the reactor core on whether to kill the people or not. Shepard claimed to not be a "dumb grunt" and overloaded it when Petrovsky mentioning rerouting power would be too difficult. I am really impressed with details like this because my class is even mentioned by Brooks in the Citadel DLC. I wonder if this can happen as an infiltrator too since they are a tech class with similar powers to an Engineer.
2. If you choose a combination of paragon/renegade options throughout the DLC Aria will question where she stands with you. I was also impressed that this was reflected. I ultimately sided with Nyreen but the first few options I chose were renegade at the start of the DLC. This was also really cool.
I still hate the DLC overall because its boring, too damn dark, and Aria is an awful character. But these two things actually made it worth replaying.

She does not mention your class for all the other classes. Sorry to disappoint. Also, Engineer is the only class with a class-specific interrupt as you point out. The only other time your class is mentioned is if you let Liara write your journal entry for her time capsule. The fight with your clone also changes; the clone's power set and weapon choice changes depending on your class. Also, in the brief cutscene before the fight, Shepard and the clone will use biotics or Omni Blades depending on your class. Those are the only class-specific in-game mentions/changes I can think of in the trilogy.

I might misremember that though.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Normandy
During the trip to Palaven, Shepard decided to try and get a bit of rest. Her sleep was disturbed by a strange dream. She was in some sort of gloomy forest or park, and the boy she'd seen on Earth was there too. She heard Reaper horns, and the child ran away crying. When she caught up with him, he stared at her while being engulfed in flames.
Shepard was worried. She remembered that the people on the Project Base reported disturbing nightmares as one of the symptoms of exposure to Object Rho. Were the Reapers in her head, trying to influence her thoughts? Either way, she had no idea what the dream might have meant, if anything.
A knock on her cabin door interrupted her thoughts. It was Liara with an update on the Prothean device and negotiations with the Council. She could tell Shepard was troubled, and they talked a bit about the attack on Earth, when they were joined by Comm Specialist Samantha Traynor, who wanted to provide Shepard with an update on the retrofits to the Normandy. A debrief with Admiral Hackett regarding the meeting with the Council followed – he was supportive of Shepard's plan to build an alliance with the turian government directly.
Shepard cleared out a considerable backlog of emails, then toured the ship (finding her Space Hamster and model ships in the process). She met with everyone aboard – Samantha, Joker, shuttle pilot Steve Cortez, James Vega, Diana Allers, Engineer Adams, Dr. Chakwas, Liara, and Glyph (the drone from the Shadow Broker ship). Liara wanted to know if Shepard wanted to continue their relationship, and Shepard let her know that she absolutely did. Liara also filled Shepard in on how she outsmarted the Illusive Man when Cerberus sent troops after her. The Shadow Broker ship was destroyed in the battle, but she was able to escape with everything she needed to operate as the Broker from the Normandy.
Apien Crest: Menae – Find the Turian Primarch
The Reapers had come to Palaven in force, and Primarch Fedorian had lost his life in the fighting on Menae, the largest moon of the turian homeworld. Shepard, Liara, and James provided what assistance they could while General Corinthus tried to find the new Primarch.
Their old friend Garrus Vakarian joined them. With his experience fighting the Reapers he'd been serving on Palaven in an advisory role. He, Shepard and James headed to the last known location of General Adrien Victus, to let him know that he was the new Primarch, and ask him to join them for the war summit. Liara returned to the Normandy – Joker had radioed about some sort of problem with that had come up with EDI's AI, and Liara went to assist.
Garrus filled them in on Victus, who was evidently an unconventional leader. Garrus seemed to admire him, which made sense since Garrus was somewhat of an unconventional turian himself. Shepard hoped Victus would be able to help rally the support of the other races.
They found the camp where Victus was stationed and helped the turians clear out the attacking Reaper forces. Victus was shocked to hear that he was the new Primarch. He insisted he was a soldier rather than a diplomat or politician, but Shepard felt that this was just the sort of leader they needed at a time like this.
Primarch Victus agreed to call the war summit. His idea was to invite the krogan, who could help defend Palaven if they could be convinced to join the alliance. It was sure to be an interesting meeting.

Another one: I think if Shepard is a biotic (Adept for sure), then during the Citadel DLC party there will be a small mention of Shepard being a biotic when James is trying to convince some of the other biotics that physical conditioning trumps biotics.

I had that scene in my sentinel playthrough. As I recall, James makes a statement along the lines of biotics being unreliable; Shepard's response is something like "I don't think my biotics are unreliable. I don't think the Reapers do, either."

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Tuchanka: with Liara and EDI, defeated a Cerberus squad and secured an ancient krogan ground-to-air cannon. Normandy, en route to Benning: Liara showed Miriam her time capsule project, intended to forewarn the next cycle about the Reapers. Benning: with Liara and James, defended the inhabitants of a colony suburb from Cerberus troops seeking to abduct them. Citadel: completed fetch quests and met up with Steve Cortez. ---------- From: Adm Steven Hackett <hackett.steven#crucible!alliance!extranet> To: Cdr Miriam Shepard <shepard.miriam#normandy!alliance!extranet> Subject: Expenses for this month Shepard, The expense report that your communications officer submitted for this month was red-flagged and passed to me for approval. The concern was over two model ships at 950 credits apiece. I appreciate that the quality of a captain's living space is important. You're under more pressure than any of us can imagine; it's vital that you have a reasonably welcoming environment in which to relax when time permits. But I don't need to remind you that rationing is in force throughout Alliance space. If any reports of excessive spending by naval officers gets out, the blowback will be substantial. Just this once, I've amended the expense report and buried the model ships in the thermal clip budget. Sincerely, -Hackett ---------- Media: What the blasted heck is this guy doing? I've taken this option in most of my playthroughs, though I think I went "Just be honest" in my very first one: Actually, this incarnation of Miriam Shepard has never used a sniper rifle: Paragon status confirmed! But of course: Every commanding officer's least favourite duty: Random fact: I have a colleague named Bilal. I don't how brave he is, though: Again with the foreshadowing: Yeah, let's spend Alliance taxpayer money on toys: Hanging out with Steve: This took three or four attempts due to Cerberus grenades and player idiocy. The comedy engineer at the end was my reward for finally completing it. Messing up that first Flare was an inauspicious start, but the run was smooth after that: I kept missing pick-up items here; could have done a last circuit of the map after the shuttle arrives, but that would have made a boring video. The last part was a complete mess. I should have kited the baddies away from the LZ, perhaps:

I forgot about that Ardat-Yakshi comment. I think you have to be an Adept for that? I don't think I have ever had Liara shoot Kaidan, so I don't know about that line. Might be Adept only, yeah. I think I once saw it when doing Vega's dialogue parts or perhaps in someone's playthrough. The second one was definitely from Vega's dialogue hunt and trying to find out whether he will shoot Kaidan When Liara did it, she said to Shepard: "I was glad to meet another biotic, apart from you. It made the other humans on board seem less... alien." So, I actually progressed some more, woohoo. "Hey Alec. I just came back from assaulting the Illusive Man's base, together with Hackett's support and EDI, who saved our bacon once again with her brilliant skills. And so we did it. Cerberus is as good as finished. Kai Leng is dead, and the Illusive Man is next. We found the Prothean VI at the Illusive Man's base and learned that the Citadel is the actual Catalyst. It was under our noses all this time, and now... This fucking prick fled to the Citadel to warn them about our plan, and the Reapers moved it to Earth as a result. You know, it's strange. I saw vids at his station... he manipulated me, used me for his goals, yet he didn't want Leng to kill me after I got away on Thessia. I wonder why. He could've killed me earlier. Well, his mistake if we ever cross paths again. He'll wish to God he'd have bloody done it. We're now en route to London, to meet the Reapers head-on and deploy the Crucible. If we can. I knew our chances weren't exactly great to begin with, but now things look pretty dire. Man, not gonna lie, I'm nervous and scared right now. And still... I want to believe we can do this. We worked so hard for this. But the closer we get, the more restless I am. I don't want to think about possible scenarios, but it's all I do. I should be with Steve, but we swore to each other that we would not treat this as goodbye. So I try to keep busy while he's working on the shuttle, preparing it for our final assault. I just hope... I love him so much, Alec. Didn't think I could love a person the way I loved you ever again. I want to be with him. And I mean really be with him. No distractions. If we get out of this, I'm going to quit the Alliance. I'll ask Steve what he thinks about living together. Maybe Earth, if the Reapers left any nice spots. I want to live somewhere calm. No more exploding things and life-threatening situations. Just a normal life. A normal job. Going out, enjoying life. And get a hot tub. We definitely need to get a hot tub. I know, it's one gigantic If... but I'll do anything to try and get us there. For me, for him, and everyone else still left in this galaxy. So, I guess... this is it, eh. I'm going to leave all the letters I couldn't post with Steve. Just in case. I don't know whether I'll get the chance to write to you again, so... whatever happens, know that I will never forget you, and that I still miss you. Wish me luck out there. -Dee" Pics galore (sorry )! Miranda commenting on James. I'm not sure I had this line before, but it's hilarious I guess I have to thank myself for killing off Garrus and getting this line out of Steve, mahaha. The gang Oh yes, it will be Sweet scene. Um, I thought siha is only for FemShep? Buggy I loved to take this option for Devlon. It's almost like telling this to himself rather than Steve, and that saying it will make it come true Yeah, Devlon can rely. Ready to assault Cronos! I know I've said this before, but damn, how I love this scene with Shepard and TIM in reverse places. People can hate on Cerberus being one of the main enemies all they want, I'm loving it Bye-bye, asshole. First time seeing this. I had Garrus dead before, but my Shepard didn't talk to many people in-between missions And then this comes and I'm like Amazing how these tiny references can punch you in the gut. Ugh, the Kai Leng fight wasn't over as quick as I had hoped. EDI went down constantly and I missed so many shots with this bastard running around A shame I can't stasis him, but at least I could trap these annoying phantom fuckers Also... stephenw32768 : Really enjoying these little snips

I don't think I have ever had Liara shoot Kaidan, so I don't know about that line. The times I went through that whole scene multiple times, to get the different dialogue, and to see who shoots A/K, she never did. It was always the other squadmate.

Brooks only mentions your class if you are an Engineer. I was aware of the Brooks one. But I was confused on whether or not an Infiltrator could defuse the reactor core since they are a tech class with similar powers to an Engineer. Only they are better at combat. But thanks for clarifying that. I do wonder though. Its been forever since I've played as a Sentinel. But it seems that if you play as that class, they tend to mention the Biotic aspect of that class more than tech part of it. Unless, I'm mistaken. I remember Kaidan mentioning me also being a biotic in ME1/ME3. And does Liara also mention only the biotic part in her journal?

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Tuchanka: with Liara and James, retook the Shroud from the Reapers and successfully delivered the genophage cure. Full Paragon run; exposed the dalatrass's attempt at betrayal at the earliest opportunity. One death in the first part with Ravagers: got health-gated by one, then dropped by a single bullet from a Cannibal ---------- The two friends sat across from each other at a table, cradling mugs of cocoa. With the Normandy on night shift, the the mess hall was otherwise deserted, the lights low. In spite of her physical exhaustion and Traynor's advice to get some shut-eye, Miriam wasn't quite ready for sleep, still processing the day's events. "That last meeting with the krogan before we left," she said. "Eve — Bakara — had such hope in her eyes. I can't get it out of my head." "Much more has been achieved here than a military alliance," said Liara. "The genophage cure is salvation for a whole people. It can't be understated. History will remember this as the greater accomplishment." " If we win the war," said Miriam. "Don't say that," said Liara. "Let the krogan inspire you. This isn't just about survival for them. They're expecting to win, and looking beyond the war to a bright future." Miriam took a sip of cocoa. "When you put it that way, losing the war would be betraying them, on top of everything else." "So we won't lose." ---------- Media: Shove your sabotage up your cloaca: Jimmy-jims can be an honorary Normandy Angel: Spilling the beans: Forewarning Mordin: On Tuchanka: Crash aftermath: New content for me, I've never delayed Utukku until after Tuchanka before: Yup, it's exactly what it looks like: One of my favourite scenes: So long, Mordin: Hope: I love playing Paragon, can you tell? First-name terms: Dead Garrus content: I got rather screwed by camera angles in the second sequence (BIOWER PLZ); but hey, at least the Ravager spawn before the bridge didn't glitch this time. Flare biosplosions are wonderful against groups of husks, they're like biotic homing grenades I usually go for the right-hand maw hammer first, but the Reaper claw said NOPE so I went the other way this time.

Some highlights for Colin Shepard:
- Repelled a geth invasion - Recovered a data module from space monkeys - Saved the Zhu's Hope colony, destroyed the Thorian, and got the Cipher with one "casualty": Ethan Jeong - Convinced Admiral Mikhaelovich that the Normandy was worth every penny - Talked with fellow Mindoir survivor, Talitha, so that she could get the help she needed - Helped Corporal Toombs put an end to some evil Cerberus scientist; unfortunately, Toombs couldn't live with his experiences and killed himself - Deftly handled a reporter who clearly had an agenda

Finally finished this run Monday night Wall of text, here we go! "Dear Alec... It's a strange feeling to start this letter. I have decided that this is the last one I'll ever write to you. Over the past couple days I had a lot of time to think about various things, and this was one of them. Well, as you can see I'm still alive and kicking. It was the craziest battle of my entire life and it was very very close, but I made it. Steve made it. Most of us did. We lost people along the way as well, but we defeated the Reapers. They're all gone. Man, it still feels surreal writing this. When we touched down in London I didn't think it was really possible. The Reapers had torn the city apart. So many destroyed homes, so much death, and Reaper forces everywhere. It was quite overwhelming. And of course things didn't go exactly as planned, but when do they ever? But it doesn't matter anymore. What matters is that eventually, after going through the war zone and getting rid of a Reaper in the process, we were able to get close to a beam the Citadel was emitting. The beam was the only way to reach it, and the station's arms were closed, so someone had to go up there and open them so the Crucible could be deployed. We tried to get some troops closer to the beam, some running, some in vehicles, but it sure wasn't easy. Harbinger sat right there at the beam, firing at everything that was moving towards it. We ran like hell, but a flipped Mako exploded near EDI and Kaidan and I called in the Normandy for evac. EDI's body wasn't working properly anymore and Kaidan was hurt too. They were in no condition to go with me, and I really wanted them to be safe. Well, as safe as they could've possibly been in that moment. I remember continuing running towards the beam. I didn't know how many of us made it, or how many of us were still there. Then Harbinger's laser came way too close, and I was hit and passed out. When I woke up I was bleeding, my armor mostly gone. I don't even know how I survived this hit. But I did, and I went up the Citadel beam. Anderson had made it up too and radioed me. I eventually found him, but unfortunately the Illusive Man found us too. He always was a monster, fitting he suddenly looked like one as well. He had implanted himself with fucking Reaper tech. Bloody maniac. He started to control us both, tried getting his point of controlling the Reapers across by making me shoot Anderson. Anderson's dead because of me, because this asshole made me shoot him. But in one moment I could break free and shot this bastard. He finally got what was coming to him. Just wish I could've done it sooner. After I had opened the Citadel arms I sat down next to Anderson. I tried to keep him talking, but it was too late. He died beside me. I remember how exhausted I was and that I could barely keep my eyes open anymore. But I fought with all my might to stay awake. And then... nothing happened. The Crucible didn't fire. I crawled towards the console, but I passed out on the way and when I woke up I witnessed the most bizarre and surreal thing. I had been brought to a different part of the Citadel and met the actual Catalyst, the AI the Leviathan had created. It had taken the shape of the boy I saw die on Earth when this all started. It was on the Citadel this whole time. Frigging crazy when thinking about it. How it could watch us any time. It told me why the Reapers harvest everyone, why they do it over and over again. Because organics would always create synthetics that would eventually surpass their creators and wipe them out. I learned that with the Crucible, it'd be possible to destroy the Reapers, to control them, or to give up everything I ever was and add my essence to the Crucible's energy - don't ask me what the fuck this thing meant with that. I didn't bother to understand. It was not an option, as it would've changed every living being and synthetic alike. And controlling the Reapers was not something that should be possible. It was wrong. Destroying the Reapers meant targeting all synthetics, but it was the only way for me. I wanted them gone. The Reapers had inflicted countless horrors on every species in the galaxy and they had to pay for their crimes, no matter what their reasoning was. The Crucible enabled me to destroy them, so that's what I did. I don't care if synthetics will rise in the future. I trust that we find our own way to deal with it. And who says it actually has to be like that? The geth weren't all out there to kill us, and I was even friends with an AI. Speaking of EDI... Steve told me she died. The Catalyst was right. The Normandy got fried by some energy wave after the Crucible had fired, and EDI was gone after that. I can't help feeling a little guilty about it, but... I had to, Alec. It was the only way. The Normandy then crashlanded on an unknown planet and it took them some time to get back without the relays, which had been damaged in the process. Everyone else has been going their way after the Normandy had returned to Earth. And everyone is chipping in to heal the wounds the Reapers inflicted. It's nice to hear that even with the Reaper threat gone, the various races are working together to rebuild. Makes me happy. Myself, I've been in a coma for the past few months. Steve quit the Alliance and stayed with me in the hospital ever since they returned and is doing some voluntary work. I made him worry a lot, but this is all over now. I'm getting stronger every day and I can't wait to train walking again. My legs had it the worst, so I guess I'm in for some hard work, but it will be nice not being tied to this bed anymore. I spoke with Kaidan, James, Tali, Kasumi and Liara already, and Kaidan and James are coming to visit soon. I really can't wait to see them. Steve keeps me up to date with everything else going on in the galaxy or with my friends and crewmates. I want to see all of them again as well, and soon. Maybe we can have another party once I'm out, and this time, it will be without a looming threat over our heads. As for what will happen then... I declined a promotion Hackett offered me and quit the Alliance too. Steve and I plan to go on some trips once I'm out of here. We're thinking about visiting Ferris Fields and Mindoir together, put down some flowers for you and Robert. He also loves the idea of living together, so I guess there will be some house hunting. I'm really excited about it. A new chapter in my life is about to begin. Through all the twisted and perverted events, I am still here, alive and in love with someone again. And without you, none of this would have happened. Sure, there were dark times... a lot of them. But ending up here... I am grateful for everything. I missed you like crazy for all these years, but even when you weren't here anymore, my letters always felt like you were right there with me. I wrote them for so long, it's going to be strange to not do it anymore. But I really have to stop. So, Alec... Thank you for the best childhood and the best friend I could ever wish for. You will always have a special place in my heart. Always. Goodbye, my friend. -Devlon" Here's some epilogue-ish stuff "Hey Dev." "Hey back", I softly reply before slipping under the sheets and snuggling up behind my husband. When Steve turns around, I see the warmth, the kindness in his eyes. He doesn't need to say anything and I don't need to ask. I know he stayed up this long to wait for me and see if I'm alright. I am. I smile at him and wrap my arms around his back, pulling him in. My lips find his. "The kids doing okay?", I mutter under my breath. "Yup. Put them to bed a couple hours ago and they're sleeping through so far. I think we might be lucky with these two." "Heh. It's not just them I'm lucky with. Thank you for letting me do this." "Should we find a place for them?" "No, it wouldn't have been fair to you. I already burned them." "Oh... okay. Are you alright?" "Yeah, definitely. Reading these letters, it was... interesting. Nostalgic, really. But man, I wrote some really embarrassing stuff. Not that writing them in the first place is any less embarrassing." "Aw, come on. You had it rough. You deserve to be a little embarrassing at times. And as long as you didn't write any embarrassing things involving me..." "With you... nah, not really. Except maybe this one time when you--" "What?" "Just kidding, just kidding. I had only good things to tell about you. Still would." "Such a sweet-talker." Steve chuckles and I gently kiss his forehead. "I love you", I whisper. "And you know what? Reading these letters made me fall in love with you all over again." "Oh really? Then I think it was totally worth it to have written them. Shame you burned them. Just in case you'd need some pointers in the future." I snort and start laughing, Steve joining in before he pulls me on top of him and I knock over the lamp on his bedstand. Yeah, that's not the first time that happened. And probably not the last either.
And the last pics! Steve's romance was more lovely and enjoyable than I ever imagined. It's funny because I was reluctant to actually do it due to Steve grieving so hard for Robert, but as it turns out it's a romance I'd definitely rank very high. Steve being Shepard's shuttle pilot and not being able to go on a mission with him brought some extra weight into this romance and I really liked that. Gameplay-wise a Widow Infiltrator (quite the double meaning considering Steve ) was a lot of fun, and even Decoy was pretty neat sometimes. Of course I just had to die during the London section when everything prior to that went fine. Once when a Husk grabbed me in the garage and a Brute squeezed me to death and once from a Banshee Warp at the end Buuut I was able to beat M. Shields at the first try, mahaha! I'm happy this run came to an end now, but also sad. Had such a great time, but now I want to play some other games I've been neglecting for a change. I know that I won't be away long though, I'm so excited for my next runs already Also, who am I kidding... I will likely spend some time in ME3 hunting Vega's dialogue anyway! And of course I will continue reading everyone's adventures in here as well

Man, call me slow for noticing this, but I just looked at fraggle's pictures. And I never noticed the dialogue with a dead Garrus. I've never let Garrus die in ME2, so I don't know what that's like. I might have to test that one out sometime. The one with Tali where she says "scoped and dropped" is actually a really cool reference.
I went back to ME2 to do an insanity Infiltrator run. Its not as hard as I thought. But probably because I am an infiltrator and I've gotten pretty adept (see what I did there) at ME3's MP. but do I find myself missing being an Engineer. There is just something about infiltrators in the story that doesn't do it for me. Hopefully it will change in ME3 because I can use powers while cloaked, and a shotgun so I don't have to deal with that annoying slowed aim down sights nonsense.
Finished Horizon, got Thane (Dantius Towers still one of the best mission in ME2) and a couple loyalty mission. I'm looking forward to seeing this part on the Collector ship that is really obnoxious on Insanity though. Can't wait.

I completed the Collector Ship and died only once. The ascended collector was more of a pain than the Scion was. And now.... I might be back pedaling on what I said about the Infiltrator. Even with the slow aim down sights, they are surprisingly fun with Viper/Eviscerator and cryo ammo. I got to thank fraggle for this recommendation. And with energy drain as the bonus power, it hard to kill me even on insanity.
On a side note, Thane/Zaeed are by faaar the best squadmates in ME2. The amount of carnage we did on the Collector Ship was awesome.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Normandy
The war summit was on, but Councillor Tevos contacted Shepard to inform her that the asari would not be taking part. She claimed that the inclusion of the krogan was problematic, given the past bad blood between them and the Council races. Shepard felt that was pretty short-sighted, but was determined to try and make it work. Hopefully the asari would get on board at some point.
Admiral Hackett called to get an update on the summit, and provide Shepard with the status of the Reaper invasion, the Prothean device, and Cerberus.
After checking in with Primarch Victus, Shepard was informed that there was something wrong with EDI, so she headed to the AI core. It turned out EDI had taken it upon herself to commandeer the body of the Cerberus infiltration mech. She'd temporarily gone offline during the fight, but was fine once “Dr. Eva” was defeated. She now had a mobile platform, similar to the geth, and could join them on the ground team on missions.
As expected, Joker was excited about EDI installing herself into a “sexy robot body”. EDI wanted to discuss ethical issues with Shepard; with her AI shackles removed, she could apparently modify her behaviour, and wanted to know if she could look to Shepard for guidance on such matters. Shepard encouraged her to find her own path, and agreed to help in any way she could.
Garrus told Shepard about the Reaper task force he'd been after leaving the Normandy, and how his father had helped set it up, which was surprising given the strained relationship the two had in the past.
Samantha let Shepard know that there was something up at Grissom Academy, with suspicions that Cerberus was involved. Shepard thought it best to investigate, so she asked Joker to take them to the Petra Nebula.
Petra Nebula: Grissom Academy
Samantha's instincts were correct, there was a Cerberus cruiser and some fighters patrolling the space around Grissom Academy. Joker used some fancy piloting skills to draw the Cerberus ships away, while Shepard, Liara and EDI took a shuttle to the school. They had been contacted by Lt. Kahlee Sanders, one of the instructors, and went to meet her at the security office. She confirmed that Cerberus were trying to take some biotic students who had remained at the Academy when the Reaper invasion hit. Lt. Sanders was an old friend of Admiral Anderson, and she was relieved to hear that he had survived the attack on Earth and was leading the resistance.
Following Kahlee's directions, they reached the students, taking out some Cerberus troops on the way. The instructor turned out out to be none other than Jack. An unusual choice (Shepard suspected Anderson was behind it), but Shepard supposed she would know something on how to help gifted biotic students reach their full potential. And given her experiences as a child, she was certainly determined to protect them from harm, especially from Cerberus.
They got the students past the Cerberus forces and reached the shuttles. During the fighting the Cerberus ships had returned and Steve had to retreat, so they'd need to commandeer Cerberus shuttles. On the way to the shuttle bay they were able to save a few more students from capture, including David Archer, who'd been the subject of brutal experiments at the hand of Cerberus as part of Project Overlord. He recognized EDI as “the Normandy computer” and apologized for trying to take over the ships systems back then.
They got the students onto the shuttles with no further casualties (there was a close call with Ensign Rodriguez, but Jack bailed her out). Kahlee was grateful to Shepard's team, and also impressed by the ability displayed by the students, wondering if they were ready for front line service in the war. Shepard knew that Jack felt otherwise, and wanted to protect them. There might come a time when they were desperate enough to throw teenagers into the trenches, but they weren't there yet. Shepard recommended the students be assigned a support role instead.
Normandy
Shepard called Admiral Anderson to update him on what happened at the Academy, and let him know that Lt. Sanders was OK. It was obvious that the two of them had been close, and Anderson was relieved. Shepard hoped future missions kept ending as happily as this one did, but she had a feeling things would get tougher as the war dragged on.

- Rescued Liara T'Soni from Therum (though have yet to take her out) - Took care of Dr. Michel's "problem" - Retrieved Wrex's crappy family armor - Killed Nassana Dantius's slaver sister
Gotta say, I don't think I've ever liked Ash as much as I do this run. Not seeing the racism in her. Even if you try to sort of agree with that viewpoint, she then softens and explains things in a less harsh manner. When she's accusatory about Liara, you can talk to her in a way where she's like "I never thought about that". There's so much more depth to her than I ever realized. I think this is the first time I equipped her with all the best weapons and armor because in the past I always looked at her as nothing more than future cannon fodder on Virmire. Now I see her as the ying to Kaidan's yang, both perfectly complementing one another alongside Shepard. Really wish there was a way to keep both Ashley and Kaidan.
