Shepard became a Spectre today and saved Liara from Geth lead by Krogan. It's funny, after Andromeda, I'm now trying to scan everything and use boost and six wheel mode with Mako 😂

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2 cont'd:
Arrival (part 3)
Project Base
Commander Shepard left the medical wing and headed towards Project Control, determined to reactivate the project and delay the Reaper invasion. Project guards tried to stop her, of course, but failed.
Along the way she found a number of audio logs from Dr. Kenson and other Project staff describing the effect Object Rho was having on them. They suffered from strange dreams and nightmares, and unintelligible whispers in the mind. It sounded frighteningly similar to the symptoms the Indoctrinated salarian STG operatives on Virmire suffered. They began to feel that destroying the Alpha Relay was wrong, with Dr. Kenson lamenting the fact that she would never experience “the glory of the Reapers” if they went through with the plan.
Shepard made it to Project Control and activated the Project. The fusion torches fired and the asteroid began heading towards the Alpha Relay. The VI advised Shepard that the system had over 300,000 people living in it. She tried to send a transmission to warn them to evacuate, but Dr. Kenson blocked it. Attempting to evacuate would have been a futile effort anyway, but Shepard felt she had to try.
Shepard went after Dr. Kenson, who was heading to the reactor core to attempt to destroy the asteroid before it rammed the Alpha Relay. Her behaviour was odd – she kept revealing what she was planning to do, giving Shepard the information needed to foil her plan. “Try to stop me!” she'd yell, angrily. But Shepard realized it was actually a plea; she was fighting the same battle of wills that Saren had, battling the Reaper influence over her mind. She knew what she was doing was wrong, that her mind had been corrupted, but she was trying to help, disguising her intentions from the Reapers through anger directed at Shepard.
Shepard hoped she could keep fighting for a little while longer. One way or another, this would all be over soon.
Shepard fought her way past the guards, stabilized the reactor in time to prevent the meltdown, and confronted Dr. Kenson in the reactor area. She was unable to convince Kenson to surrender so they could escape together, and Kenson took her own life by setting off an explosion that also knocked Shepard unconscious.
Shepard awoke with only 30 minutes to escape the asteroid before the collision. She made it to the landing pad, but no shuttles remained after the Project staff had evacuated. While taking in an amazing view of the mass relay they were hurtling towards, she used the communications tower to call the Normandy to extract her.
After her transmission, a hologram of Harbinger appeared over the landing pad. It claimed that Shepard's actions had changed nothing, that defeat was inevitable and that civilization was “doomed to fall” at the hands of the Reapers. Sovereign had tried to intimidate Shepard before, and while it may have worked on Saren but it didn't on her, and she wasn't going to let Harbinger intimidate her either.
The Normandy arrived, Shepard boarded, and the ship escaped through the Alpha Relay just in time. Shepard watched helplessly from the CIC as the entire Bahak system was destroyed by the explosion.
She was in the medical bay being checked over by Dr. Chakwas when Admiral Hackett arrived in person to debrief her. The Admiral supported her actions, knowing that the Bahak system was doomed anyway if the Reapers had come through the Relay, but stated that she would need to return to Earth to face an inquiry. The batarians “will want blood”, and the Alliance didn't want a conflict with them now that the Reaper invasion was on the horizon. Shepard understood, and agreed to turn herself in.
Arrangements would need to be made to relocate the non-alliance crew – she wouldn't let anyone else get punished for something that was her responsibility and hers alone. Once her crew was safe, she'd return to Earth. With the Reapers as close as they were, they'd need to start preparing. She wanted to get this inquiry over as soon as possible.
End of Mass Effect 2.

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Grissom Academy: took EDI and Liara. Jack died in ME2, so there was new content for me in this mission, it has quite a different feel, certainly a less positive one. That said, unlike Tuchanka with Wrex dead, it didn't feel like being "punished" for making a wrong decision in a previous game. Rather, it put a different spin on a difficult situation. Anyway, I did a straight-up Paragon run, recruiting the students for support roles. Died once in the second half of the atrium battle: got gunned down by a turret on the upper level before I could react. That aside, it was easier than I anticipated, largely due to Flare Soldier's overpowering cheapness I have Flare up to rank six now (damage, detonation, improved damage). Question, while I'm here: do the broker terminal intel bonuses affect the entire squad, or just Shepard? ---------- Having finally convinced Liara to take a half-hour break, Miriam sat with her friend on a bench overlooking the Presidium Commons. "Anderson never mentioned Kahlee Sanders," said Miriam, sipping from her coffee. "I never imagined him with anyone, really." "It would be a simple matter to find out more," said Liara. "My network has several contacts in Alliance intelligence. Of course, you know nothing about them and will deny all knowledge of this conversation if asked." "Gossip behind Anderson's back?" asked Miriam. "No way, that'd be a betrayal. Better to let the man have his private life." "You mean that it would be more fun to needle him directly?" asked Liara with a hint of an innocent smile. Miriam grinned. "It's as if you read my mind." ---------- Media: With Liara on the Presidium: Heh, you don't know the half of it: You're asking a Shepard who has never had a LI in any playthrough? Good luck with that: Of course, that doesn't mean that she can't support her comrades in their romantic endeavours: So, she's your guide dog? Make sure to tell her that. She'll be flattered: I went the other way in my previous two playthroughs: Did someone order a rescue? Normandy Angels, here to save the day! It's what she does: No sense in getting the students killed: The beginning of the atrium sequence is really dull 'cos I was just sitting there being really cautious, waiting for the baddies to come to me. Feel free to fast-forward through it! The Avenger is crummy, but I'm only sticking with it for a couple more missions until I unlock the Phaeston.

I know I'm super late to the party with this one, but I had no idea until this recent playthrough that you could do this on Noveria. I knew you could get Gianna killed, but not this one. Shepard's line to Parasini made me laugh harder than it should have. I ended up helping Parasini, but I just thought this was funny. Also this is how my dear Winifred looks in ME1 and ME2 for anyone interested.
I'm on ME2 now. I saved Kaidan, Wrex is alive, so is the rachni queen, and so is the Council. Its pretty awesome that you can still be a sarcastic/hard ass Renegade but still do a lot of nice things and still max out the Renegade bar. I was also surprised that even though my character was a Renegade in ME2, that I was still able to convince Zaeed at the end of his mission. I'm currently about to embark on the Collector ship next time I boot up the game.

After playing the trilogy so many times over the year, I no longer intended to start it again. But in another forum someone posted a thread about the 10 years of ME1 and folks began a discussion on the graphics and that texture mod and I decided to experiment, just for the purpose of testing. There was no way, when I started the game, I could not stop, the first is my favorite, I absolutely love this game. I went with the Engineer with bonus in Sniper, with Kaidan and Tali as companions. The goal would be to make a pure tech squad, the same I normaly do in ME3, so Garrus would be a better option to Kaidan, but Kaidan has absurd 4 crowd control powers (push, lift, Neural and Stasis), I had no way to leave him out. And the tech force bar stays the same for both, so ..... For Tali and me, I did not put any point on AI hacking and I did not miss it. I invested in damping, which is not of the most useful powers, but serves to paralyze husks and those ugly Torian minions. It also increases the Overload and Sabotage radius, which is an extra bonus. As always, I went on the Veteran difficulty. It is the best, fair difficulty and without many enemies using Imunity, which is quite annoying. I hate bullet sponges in games. Against Imunity, Neural shock rulez. I have something more to talk about Neural Shock (NS), more ahead. Again I tried to keep Onyx as my armor, but by the time I reached level 40, it was unbearable. Unfortunately I had to change, or it was always 0HKO against an enemy sniper shot. I beat the game at level 51. It could have been higher, but there came a time that gave me a urgency to finish it. That way, I missed one medalion and one light metal. Also I I did not finish the Cerberus/Rachni arc. It may seem contradictory to me to say that it is my favorite game of the trilogy and I suddenly have urgency to finish it, but it has explanation. 1) I started quick generic Shepard. When I was 7 hours into the game, I could not bear to look at his face anymore. So I started again lol. 2) I want to test the build that I have been planning for 2. Let´s see: Ash die, date Liara (I never finished this romance, but I like to see her naked in 1), Save the Concil, pick Anderson in the end. Usually I pick Udina, because I like his speech more in the end, but this time I roleplay a Shepard that stood against him all the time. Paragon ending. As for his appearance, I was again forced to choose a blonde, because that is the only color that the beard looks full and masculine instead of a failed adolescent beard. I loved his face, he seems to be pissed at the world all the time. Unfortunately it did not look cool on 2 His mouth felt wrong. He seems to be 45 years old instead of 30, 32. I wanted a completely bald Shepard, but I forgot that there is no such thing in 2. Now he has a thinning hair with a baldness on top, which makes him even older. I'm going to make some changes in the character editor. ========================================================================================== In ME2, I choose NS as my bonus power. It seems to be redundant because Cryo Blast occupies the same function, but it has a small difference. NS aligns enemies for the sniper rifle use, cryo Usually knocks them back to their protection. Also, lower cooldown. My big problem with that power is that sometimes it does not work. I can not explain it right, but it seems that when an enemy loses their protection, you have to wait half a second before using it, or nothing done. As I play in Insanity, that makes a difference. As a bonus, I keep the consistency between my Shepards, in relation to powers. Too bad you can not start straight with the rifle. Can I change this in the editor? Anyway, Engineer is the true mage of the Mass Effect universe. At the level 5, I can cast Fire, Ice, Thunder, psychic rays and summon a sidekick. It is all about the powers. Funny that in ME3 I find it annoying the constant use of powers with virtually no consequences. Want to piss me off? Says you does not use guns on 3. More later.

I wrapped up my ME2 game that I mentioned a few pages ago, would have done it quicker but I got side tracked by some newer games. Here's the basic roundup: the engineered krogan was left in it's tank, Shepard decided she didn't need this unknown factor in her team given her past experience with that species. Headcanoned that it's being dissected in some Cerberus lab somewhere. Ditto for the unique geth found on the derelict Reaper, the team at that point was a well oiled machine (excuse the pun), there was no need to introduce the risk of a live geth to the equation. The suicide mission saw it's first casualty when Thane bungled closing the blast door, taking a Harbinger bolt square to the chest. Garrus had led his fire team valiantly and the two squads met up without incident (barring Thane). Tali was sent back to escort the surviving crew successfully. Shep set off on the long walk with Jack holding the barrier, Zaeed and Kasumi at her side. Barely making it to the final chamber, Miranda and Zaeed joined Shep for the assault on the central chamber, finding an absurd human-reaper abomination. Not one to play games, Shep fed it a couple of Cain bolts after setting the base to irradiate, preserving the tech for crucial research. Mordin fell 'holding the line' with everyone else surviving the return to the Normandy. Brandy and cigars were passed around in memory of the fallen, and the crew took a nice shore leave at Illium, while Shepard ducked out to Hagelaz to spend time with Liara. Soon enough, Admiral Hackett had a request to rescue his friend Dr Kenson, who was involved in some research pertaining to the Reapers. Long story short, her team was indoctrinated and Shepard activated their project, a rocket powered asteroid that took out the Alpha relay, buying some indeterminate time till the Reapers spread throughout the galaxy. After enjoying some sexytime with Kelly (Liara better not have cameras here yet) Shepard accidentally ate a whole bottle of derp pills and agreed to hand over her ship and submit to house arrest on Earth as payment for saving the galaxy twice.

I am nearly through with ME2. Just have to do Legion's loyalty, Suicide Mission, and Arrival.
One thing I always disliked about Samara (on top of her obnoxiously rigid code) is that if you have a high renegade meter, she claims that I've done things that would cause her to attack you. Yet, I saved that sick Batarian on Omega, I saved those people on Zaeed's mission, helped all the Salarians on the Dantius tower, etc. The only thing my Renegade Shepard is guilty of is being intimidating and sarcastic. That bit is just poorly written and makes Samara less likable for me.

Most of the renegade actions should fit right into her rigid 'code', they are after all actions for the greater good. This is someone who butchered an entire village of people because they got between her and her target. That would be fine, not everyone needs to be externally consistent but it would have been a nice payoff in ME3 if Samara made good on her promise to hunt me down, instead you get a little 'think on what you do' speech when you meet her at the Citadel. If I'm feeling particularly disgusted with her I let her eat a bullet then kill Falere, it's the only way to be sure. But... I like her character at the Citadel party so there's that.

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Question, while I'm here: do the broker terminal intel bonuses affect the entire squad, or just Shepard As far as I am aware, Broker Intel bonuses affect only Shepard, not the squaud.

Yeah, its funny that she admires a Paragon Shepard so much when many of her actions are indeed Renegade. She'll at least be interested or entertain a romance with a Paragon, but with a Renegade she completely shuts you down. I've actually never done a Renegade run where she lives on my playthrough in the Suicide Mission. I killed her in this run also. In this run, I helped her out and everything she says she considers you a good friend but still will hunt you down later. Yeah, um what? And Samara in the Citadel just makes me salty about Kasumi. The fact that you can have a romance with Samara but not with Kasumi still bugs me. I also finished the game yesterday. Kasumi, Jack, Mordin, Grunt, and Samara didn't make it. Going to finish LoTSB and Arrival later today.

Brought Svetlana into ME3 the other day, did Mars, Eden Prime, Surkesh and the Rachni mission so far. Playing exclusively with the Striker grenade-rifle for the first time. It's damage can be a little underwhelming but it's damn fun to use with inferno ammo. Get a few targets burning then leap in with a charge or disrupt with a lash for tasty explosions. Visited Ash in the hospital but have been taking the renegade dialog, haven't decided on her fate yet. I'm leaning towards sparing her if possible and sending her to Hackett. Mainly taking Javik along for the trolling, I like how he has renegade Shepard's back on everything.

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Citadel: - completed some fetch quests
- visited Ashley in the hospital, congratulated the newly-appointed Spectre and listened to her family news
- assisted Jondum Bau with his investigation. I'd wondered whether Kasumi would get some different dialogue here given that she mentions Jacob if he's still alive, but she just didn't mention him at all
- made contact with Aria and recruited the Blood Pack and Eclipse syndicates (Paragon solution, left Sederis in jail)
- made contact with Miranda
Annos Basin: hosted a tense war summit. Full Paragon, natch; Miriam took Wrex's side. ---------- "So, did my little stunt fool you even for a second?" asked Kasumi. "Actually, it did," said Miriam. "My heart missed a beat when the bomb went off. Then I remembered that you've escaped worse than that." "Sorry to worry you." "It's fine. I know I'm going to lose more friends to this war. I'm just glad I didn't lose one today." ---------- Screenshots: Congratulations, Spectre Williams: Awww, you didn't have fun on the suicide mission? Bailey is channelling Major Kirrahe: Miri and Miri: Dressed up for the occasion: Dalatrass, you really want to argue with a Spectre N7 and a krogan battlemaster?

I finished up everything in ME2 (including LoTSB and Arrival). Man, I really hate the Liara fanboying Bioware does in ME2. I was nothing but rude to Liara in ME1 and I'm still not nice to her in the DLC. But we still joke around and act like we're friends? That sucks. I'm also always really torn on the final choice whether to let her come aboard the Normandy or not. On one hand, I hate Liara, but on the other, that scene is really great for humanizing Shepard. Especially if you choose the "I'm frustrated" and "They're heroes" option. But its not possible without her being there.
I'm moving on to ME3, and ME3 always bugs me when it comes to translating femsheps. Mine looked weird initially but I've got at least two looks that I worked out that look good. Also, I'm not sure if I should tell Kaidan to go to Hackett or not. I've never done this option, but Kaidan is just way to valuable of a squadmate especially with Javik. Its not like Ash where even if you get rid of her, you still have James who is a better soldier than her.

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Sur'Kesh: took Liara and EDI on the mission to extract Mordin and Eve. This was pretty easy for a Flare Soldier, no deaths, though I did almost screw up once; managed to cling on to a sliver of health after a grenade went off a little too close. ---------- "What's wrong, Miriam? You getting old? Take that thing out! Back in the day, we dealt with thresher maws and geth armatures with less trouble!" Wrex's words of encouragement blared into Miriam's earpiece as she readied a grenade while her shields recharged. "Come to think of it, didn't you used to Lift fully-shielded armatures? You should be able to send that pipsqueak into orbit." "That was with a sentinel amp. This one works differently," said Miriam, unleashing a Flare. "Excuses, excuses. You want I should come down there and kill it for you?" ---------- Media: Putting Team SR-1 back together: Unlike Wreav, Wrex does have a better nature to which to appeal: Don't worry, the uplifted yahg don't want your job: I've taken this same shot in three playthroughs now (here's vanguard!Miriam and here's Melody): Virmire reunion: Foreshadowing: Miriam is proud of her part in fixing a historic injustice: Deadly on full auto, blah blah blah: Reloading under fire: There's nothing especially difficult in this mission; Cerberus' love of grenades is the only real hazard. You'll see me screw up when I let one go off a little too close. Panicked medi-gelling makes one's videos look rather amateurish

Started the Citadel DLC about two weeks ago and it took me until yesterday to get through the combat parts... No, it's totally not the MP's fault "Hey Alec. Hard to believe what I've been doing yesterday. Even I still can't wrap my head around it entirely, and I was there! It all started with visiting Anderson's apartment on the Citadel. Hackett had mentioned in his e-mail to go there and I was already wondering what this was all about. I talked to Anderson on the QEC and he actually wanted me to have this apartment. I was really surprised about this, but I accepted. Anderson said he doesn't want to leave Earth. I guess I can understand, but damn, you should see this place, Alec. So many rooms, a big kitchen, a cards table, a bar, even a hot tub! While checking out the apartment I received a message from Joker to meet me for dinner. It was a fancy sushi restaurant and we had a good time, but trouble came way too soon. Joker hadn't sent this message and said he got one from me instead, and then an Alliance officer named Maya Brooks came running to our table and told us that someone wants to kill me. This was nothing new, but these were actually new guys chasing me. Mercs. And some of those fucks arrived at the restaurant and started shooting up the place. I hid and told Joker to go back and get everyone on this. Brooks got dragged away by the mercs, but I managed to get to her. More mercs appeared and she saved my life by pushing me away, but then some asshole shot the floor beneath me. It was a fish tank (told you this place was fancy), and when it broke I fell multiple stories. How I survived that I can't even say, but I did. At least I still had the pistol I took from one of the mercs to get me through the worst, and soon Liara came to help me. Wrex joined us too! That was a surprise. He coincidentally was on the Citadel and had heard what was going on, so he came. After Joker picked us up, we all headed to the apartment to discuss our next step. Liara could trace the pistol to Elijah Khan, weapons dealer, casino owner and host of a charity event that was scheduled just last night. Lucky for us. He had sold those guns to whoever wanted me dead and so we went to talk to Khan. We got inside all dressed up neatly and infiltrated Khan's hideout, but it was futile. He was dead. Murdered. The terminal in Khan's room had been wiped, but we took the data drives anyway. Back at the apartment EDI and Brooks found out that the mercs had bought some big mechs and in that moment Glyph detected my Spectre access code being used at the Citadel Archives. Almost the whole crew was in, so we divided them into two support teams while I led the main team, and raced to the archives to finally find out who was behind this all. It was ridiculous. It was my clone. Yup, Cerberus cloned me in case I ever need some spare parts. I fucking hate these bastards, though they weren't actually responsible for the clone trying to kill me. We knew this guy's goal was to take my identity, to become me. Good thing we stopped his plans. He was trying to take the Normandy with the help of none other than Brooks, who was actually the clone's helping hand. They had already launched the ship, just hadn't expected Wrex, EDI and me to manage boarding before they left, so we got in a nice surprise. After getting rid of the mercs in the CIC we fought the clone, Brooks and their mooks in the cargo bay. After a tough fight I took a chance and tackled the clone, but we ended up falling through the open cargo bay door and rolled down dangerously close to the edge of the door. I was just punching this asshole when he kicked me off, and some disturbance knocked us both almost off the ship. We both clung to the edge of the open door. EDI and Wrex came for me and helped me back up, while Brooks did nothing to save the clone. I offered my hand to him because even after all this, I felt a little sad for him, but he refused and let go. Brooks was arrested and this whole thing was finally over. It was exhausting, but we all got out alive. Back at the apartment Joker had the great idea to throw a party, but first we all needed some sleep. I slept like a baby and just came back from helping Steve and James clean up the cargo bay a bit, and after finishing up this letter I'll check out the area a little. Steve's still busy making sure the mercs didn't do anything to his shuttle, but he promised we'll meet up some time later. Can't wait for it. Until then, some of my crew also want to hang out with me and I'm happy I can spend a little time with them. I'm meeting Traynor for lunch first, so fingers crossed this is not another ambush. -Dee" Pics! Too many of 'em! Wah! I only died once during all the fighting, and it was not during the clone fight (Wrex's tanking came in handy during that )! It was the first time taking both Wrex and EDI along for the ride and it was quite amusing. Though my favourite pair so far probably still is James and Javik. MP recently has been ranging from awesome to meh. We still play Silver a lot, but also started playing more Gold matches. These work fine most of the time (and without cheesing now, yay!), but there are days when things can get pretty dicey, hehe. Still, it's a lot of fun and I start to feel more comfortable on Gold.

Jeff Shepard:
Exploring Horizon with Kaidan and Javik. Clear signs of Reaper tech. Then we saw masses of refugees turned into husks. A horrible way to go, with TIM claiming it was all for the "good of humanity". That kind of thinking was what got most of my squad killed when I ran with Cerberus. And now Oriana Lawson was leaving messages to follow. Worse, Kai Leng was on her trail. Unlike Miranda, Oriana was not a trained fighter. Once we found our way too her, Henry Lawson had Oriana in a headlock with a gun pointed at her temple. I told him if he let her go then maybe he walked. He took the risk. I shot him. No way this traitor got to live. Besides, he was likely indoctrinated and there's no coming back from that as far as we know.
Back on the Normandy, EDI and I had a chat. She was repulsed by the Reapers and impressed by the ultimately futile sacrifices humans had made during the war. She therefore modified her programming against self-preservation (which she felt was the way of the Reapers) and decided she was now willing to sacrifice her own existence to others, primarily Joker. (He had, after all, set her free of the constraints that locked her programming.) Kaidan was pissed like I've never seen, even more than the last time we'd met on Horizon. Not that I blamed him. Wouldn't want to be in his way when we went after Cerberus. Tali was also taking Miranda's death hard for some reason, even though she'd died last year. Guess encountering Oriana kicked up some of those feelings. Javik said pheromones spoke up my relationship with Kaidan, something I said I needed in order to survive. He also asked if I would want to remember the many deaths of those I'd known the way he could with the memory shard. Honestly, I wish I could forget those I'd allowed to die for my ego. Traynor also really wanted Cerberus destroyed since Horizon had been her home.
That's when I was forced to head in to get the Normandy in tip-top shape before engaging Cerberus. Hackett believed that once they were down that we'd head straight to Earth. That meant mandatory shore leave. I was also given Anderson's Citadel apartment for my use. Now I had to figure out what the hell to do with this free time.

Shepard was troubled. She needed krogan boots on Palaven to secure the Turian fleets for the big push when it happened but Wreavs bombast had chilled what little enthusiasm she had for the endeavour. While confident in public, her claims of `what does it matter when Earth and Palaven are burning?' to the Dalatrass were empty rhetoric. It did matter, a great deal. It was all but assured that the krogan would rise after the Reaper war and drown the survivors in blood. In her heart of hearts of course she doubted if victory over the Reapers was even possible but she had to put up a front for the crew, the cameras and the brass that it could. That meant considering the post war situation. However she felt there were no options.
Then, just before heading down to the armory for the assault on the Shroud facility, Shepard caught a lifeline tossed by the Salarian government. The Shroud it turns out was already modified to foul the release of the cure in a near-undetectable fashion. All she had to do was maintain the masquerade and she would be provided with post war cover in the form of information that Padok's cure was flawed from the start.
Riding in the APCs, fighting Rachni, dodging a kaiju Thresher Maw were all a faded shadow in her mind as she considered the deception they were about to pull on the krogan. It was, at it's core a dishonorable act. But it had to be done, for Earth, for Palaven, for the future of all intelligent species that wanted to live in peace and prosperity. If the cost of securing the post war was a guilty conscience, Svetlana was prepared to pay for it. However, Padok Wiks was not. Disgusted at Shepard and his own government, he was determined to fix the flaw at the cost of his own life. Disgusted with herself, Shepard shot him in the back with the very same pistol Mordin Solus had given her on Omega. It felt tainted now, and she threw it down to be buried in the wreckage of the Shroud.
Javik was alone in suspecting the deception and his hearty approval helped Shepard deal with her demons. Javik was right, no compromise can be brokered when so much is at stake. The Salarian Councillor was also pleasantly surprised by the turn of events but she had some troubling news: humanity's Councillor Donnel Udina was moving vast amounts of money and resources around and not to the Alliance. Also, he had brought in Shepard's former crewmate Ashley Williams into his inner circle as a private SPECTRE and relations between the two had been chilly since the ill-fated encounter on Horizon last year.
Shepard hoped the Salarian's concerns were exaggerated, but over the years she had come to trust in Salarian warnings, if not their final intentions. Joker was ordered to set course for the Citadel.

Jeff Shepard: Anderson's apartment was interesting. Recordings for memoirs all over the place. Made it feel like he was still present rather than leading resistance forces on Earth. It also had a fireplace, a bar, multiple bedrooms, a hot tub, some nice artwork, and freaking waterfalls! He had to have gotten this during his time as Councilor. No way his pay as captain would have bought this. Then came a message from Joker to meet at a swanky sushi place - on him. He also had to be making more than me for this to me possible. There was a very long line but the French maitre d' waved me in, apparently recognizing me on sight. Joker was already there. It didn't take more than 2 minutes to discover we'd been set up, followed by some bumbling intelligence agent intruding in on us and then an attack by unknown mercenaries. I sent Joker to get help. Unfortunately, the awesome fish tank floor was destroyed in the attack. Before and after pics of the fishtank Now, Brooks wanted me to stay radio silence, except with her, since she claimed to someone how be secure. When Kaidan heard I was in trouble he started heading my way and reached out to me. Brooks didn't get that my crew had by back. Liara also chimed in, not even a little surprised that trouble had found me. Anyway, Brooks was sending a C-Sec shuttle to a skycar lot. When I got there, I saw the mercs were already fighting someone else. Not at all surprised to see my man in action. It was pretty hot. The shuttle that arrived was full of mercs instead of C-Sec. Fortunately, James was nearby and fired a missile right into the shuttle, killing all the mercs. Then Joker arrived with a shuttle of his own and got us back to the apartment. Liara went to work tracking a pistol I'd taken from a merc to Elijah Khan, owner of a local nightclub. There was a fundraiser that night to help war refugees. We were going to have to infiltrate and get to Khan. We needed a tech expert to crawl through ducts. Our best option was the intelligence agent, Brooks. She'd accompany myself and Kaidan and we'd all work together on this one. When we made it to Khan, he was dead and his drives were wiped clean. Still, the comms showed the last call made. When calling it, I reached my enemy, who scrambled his face and voice. Showed me he was afraid. Back at the apartment, EDI examined the drives and found enough to lead us to the Citadel Archives. I brought Kaidan and Tali along with me but everyone was in on this. It just meant splitting into separate teams. We were attacked right off. After a short battle, someone above had Brooks at gunpoint. When he pushed her aside and jumped down we saw that it was me. Well, he was wearing the same armor as the mercs but had my face: same green eyes and blue-gray hair. He was a Cerberus clone intended for spare parts but abandoned when he wasn't needed. He wanted to steal my life and had already hacked my comms, stolen my Spectre codes and now took the command codes for the Normandy. My squad had to die because he knew he'd never fool them - but the fact was he'd fool no one, not even my crew, certainly not Hackett. Worse, he didn't have my training and skills, which meant he wouldn't succeed against the Reapers and the entire galaxy would pay for it. Once he got those codes he ran but I was hot on his tail. My squad was with me and the others - as Team Mako and Team Hammerhead - followed from above. However, I eventually lost contact with both of those teams and, again, only Brooks was accessible. Seemed...off. Couldn't quite put a finger on it but there was no reason why they would be jammed but not her. The clone certainly knew about her. Then we fell into a trap, sealed in an iridium vault. That's when I learned Brooks had been working with the clone all along, pretending to be Alliance intel. It was meant to go a lot easier but my team was much better than she had expected. She was ex-Cerberus and had parted ways with TIM because a) he was indoctrinated and she was anti-alien. She had actually compiled the dossiers TIM had given me but later realized it was "wrong" to work with aliens. Of course, they'd missed something crucial, namely that Liara's Glyph was still out there. It freed us and we were on our way to make sure the clone didn't escape with the Normandy. This time it was Kaidan and Liara with me. We fought our way to the ship. It was preparing for takeoff and we were in the airlock. Traynor was also there, having been discharged by the clone for "conduct unbecoming" or some other nonsense. Only way in was through an emergency exit hatch but it was designed to open out. None of us had the biotic control to open it but Traynor's 6000 credit toothbrush did. I vowed to pay for a new one, out of my own pocket if necessary. Did get pissed he was getting rid of my hamster! We fought in the cargo bay. His uniform was like my but with a blue stripe. Obviously had no clue what the red stripe was about. In the end, we were hanging off the ledge. My squad came for me while Brooks ran. I had a choice to save the clone or kill him. I thought about how he never really had any choices. He was also meant to be cannon fodder and had been brainwashed by Brooks. He had nothing. Just like me, after Mindoir. Maybe he could be redeemed. After all, I turned my life around after screwing everyone over before the Reaper invasion. I decided to save him. However, he didn't want to be saved. He let go and plummeted to his death. Brooks was another story. I didn't see redemption for her. So when she tried to run I had no problem shooting her in the back. Anyone who would pull this kind of crap in the middle of a war needed to die.

Mass Effect 3 Intro:
Commander Shepard had been a “guest” of the Alliance for the past six months, after turning herself in following the destruction of the Bahak System. She was in her room at Alliance HQ in Vancouver, looking out the window at a boy playing with a toy Alliance ship when one of the marines stationed there, James Vega, came to fetch her for a hearing with the Defence Committee. There were rumours that something big was happening.
Admiral Anderson, recently resigned from the Citadel Council and back with the Alliance, was on the way to the same briefing, so they walked together. He wouldn't say what was going on, but it sounded an awful lot like the Reapers had arrived. Destroying the Alpha Relay had apparently bought them about six months, and Shepard would soon find out how well that time had been used to prepare.
On their way into the briefing they ran into Ashley Williams, recently promoted to Lt Commander, who had just finished her own meeting with the committee. Their reunion was somewhat awkward and uncomfortable, but Shepard meant it when she told Ashley it was good to see her again.
The meeting with the committee was pretty hard to take. As news continued to come in regarding Alliance outposts going silent, the committee members came across as confused, weak, and almost childlike in their naivete. Shepard always tried to be diplomatic and see the best in people, but she couldn't help but wonder how these three had found themselves in positions of such authority in the Alliance.
In the end, it didn't matter. The Reaper invasion of Earth began, and Vancouver was one of the cities attacked. The Defence Committee members were killed in an explosion, and Shepard and Anderson were forced to fight their way through Reaper ground forces to get to the Normandy and escape.
Along the way, they Shepard found the boy she'd seen earlier playing with the toy ship. He was hiding in a heating duct. She tried to convince him to come with her to safety but he refused. She was briefly distracted by the sound of a Reaper, and when she turned back he'd disappeared. She couldn't understand how he got away without her hearing anything.
Ashley brought the Normandy (with Joker piloting and James on board as well) in to extract them. Anderson wanted to stay on Earth to lead the resistance, while Shepard went to the Citadel to get Council assistance. Shepard protested, but ultimately she understood why Anderson wanted to stay. He formally reinstated her into the Alliance and gave her command of the Normandy.
As they were leaving, Shepard saw the boy she'd tried to help earlier climb in to a shuttle that was trying to evacuate civilians. No one helped him or even seemed to notice his presence as he climbed in. The shuttle took off but was destroyed by a Reaper before it could escape.
The Normandy left Earth, and was about to set course for the Citadel when Admiral Hackett contacted Shepard to divert them to the Mars. The transmission quality was poor, but evidently the admiral had sent Dr. Liara T'Soni to investigate something in the Prothean Archives that might assist them against the Reapers. Shepard asked Joker to take them to Mars so that they could find out what she'd found.

Really wanted to get some ME in today. At my parents' house and I knew I'd never be able to play ME3. Thought I could play some ME1 but, sadly, it crashes every time I try to open it, regardless of using Steam or Origin. Weird, too, since "Can You Run It?" says this computer meets minimum system requirements. That'll teach me about not bringing my laptop.

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Citadel: completed some fetch quests; recruited the Blue Suns (Paragon resolution); reunited Liara with her father; authorized a pardon for Ken and Gabby. Normandy: checked in with Mordin and Eve. Tuchanka: rescued Tarquin Victus' platoon with Liara and James. Advised Victus to appeal to his men's honour to rally their support for the mission. This was a trivial mission for a Flare Soldier and her biosplosion-priming sidekick. ---------- "I'm glad to see humans treat their women with respect," said Eve. "It wasn't always like this," said Miriam. "Even as recently as a hundred years ago, women were second-class citizens. Legally, we had equal rights, but centuries of male supremacy left their mark on our culture. Politicians, business leaders, celebrities, even priests... there were men abusing their positions in all walks of life." Eve sighed. "Apparently, it is common to all species with more than one gender. But I'm glad that your people have overcome it." "It still lurks between the surface," said Miriam. "It's just gone underground now. Visit any random bar in the Citadel wards. The dancers are always women; the punters always men." ---------- Media: Yes, he could: "Girlfriend"? Gloomy: This whole conversation resonates with current events. I do wonder whether true equality for women will have been achieved by the 22nd century Dead people are "junk"?! Shepard and Lt Victus share a talent for making rousing speeches: Alliances are built on trust: More foreshadowing... Just a few clips from this straightforward mission. I have no idea why I threw a grenade at that almost-dead Brute.
