Reinstalled trilogy after stumbling upon ME3 soundtrack on my phone. Once again soundtracks proven to be ultimate evil. Pondering if I should replay my beloved canon Shep or should I go with someone different. Not easy decission Hah, I should word this differently. "With which pt should I start?"

Reinstalled trilogy after stumbling upon ME3 soundtrack on my phone. Once again soundtracks proven to be ultimate evil. Pondering if I should replay my beloved canon Shep or should I go with someone different. Not easy decission I vote to play a new Shepard. My own logic is that I get too confused by having multiple saves with the same name. For example, I have several files for "John Shepard" (my canon Earthborn/Sole Survivor/Soldier) but I still enjoy playing other versions (like Vanguard - and my love for Colonist Shepard is great solely because of "I Remember Me" in ME1) or having a mother (having her referenced throughout the trilogy is nice). Or I love starting Shepard down one path (say, Renegade) and then having him switch into something more Paragade or even outright Paragon by ME3 (which I've done, RPing that he used his 6 months locked up to reflect on some regrettable decisions). Honestly, there's a lot of great, different things to do. Why lock yourself into just the one? That said, I'm a Kaidanmancer and I don't deviate from that so there are some areas where I don't bend.

Hah, I should word this differently. "With which pt should I start?" I always think the best experience comes from starting at the beginning of it all. Even though ME2 derails significantly from the overarching plot, it's still a great game. ME3 makes more sense if ME1 was played.

OK, so Gilgamesh Shepard went to Freedom's Progress with Miranda and Jacob. This is a mod testing PT so I don't know how committed I'm going to be to details. Maybe once I complete it and resume playing Colin Shepard I'll get back to my more detail oriented posts that I know dragontartare wants to see.

Oh, I've played different Shepards. It's just that I miss my canon Shep a little. Plus I feel like she's the best way to dig into trilogy again. And personally I don't mind having saves with the same name, I never get them confused I always think the best experience comes from starting at the beginning of it all. It's not even a question Who would skip the possibility of driving the MAKO

I mean, I wish it drove more like the Nomad but those cannons are awesome. Also, what other vehicle can land on its ass and still keep going? Not that piece of flying tissue paper we got in ME2. Shuttles are boring because we don't get to "play" them. (Though some stunt flying by Cortez would have been nice.) Some of the personal side missions are really nice. Also, because Kaidan is my right-hand man I always try to save the biotics when they do stupid things like join cults run by non-biotics or kidnap government officials.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Normandy
Shepard contacted Admiral Hackett to update him on the genophage cure, and Wrex's deployment of troops to Palaven. He described Shepard's actions as a “hell of a thing”, without indicating whether he meant a good thing or a bad thing. He did the same thing after Aratoht, and it annoyed her slightly.
Primarch Victus reaffirmed his promise to Shepard of turian assistance to both Earth and the Crucible project in return for krogan assistance on Palaven.
Shepard decided, with some encouragement from Garrus, to get some rest. She was again plagued by disturbing dreams filled with “oily shadows”, reaper horns, whispering noises, and the mysterious boy from Earth. She was becoming more concerned about her mental state, but she remained determined to fight on. The victory on Tuchanka proved to her that they had a chance, however slim.
When she woke up, Liara came to see her and informed her that the salarian councillor wanted to speak to her by vidcom. They talked for a bit - losing Mordin had made Shepard think of Kaiden. Shepard appreciated having Liara there to lift her spirits.
Councillor Valern had “concerns” about Udina, and wanted Shepard to come to the Citadel to review the evidence in private. Admiral Hackett called in again as well, and gave Shepard an update on what all of the other races and allies they'd acquired were doing to contribute to the war. He indicated that they were getting unofficial salarian support, despite the Salarian Union's official stance on the genophage cure. Shepard wasn't surprised that there were at least some salarians who were more concerned about the current state of the galaxy than in fighting old wars and worrying about some “what-if” scenario that might never come to pass.
On the bridge, Shepard, Joker and Garrus discussed Mordin's sacrifice, and the turian-krogan alliance. Diana Allers interviewed Shepard about the mission on Tuchanka, Shepard used it to stress that the krogan wanted to be heroes again, like they had been during the rachni wars.
Shepard received a thank you email from a citizen they'd rescued on Benning, and a news report about the Feros colony – still kicking and holding off the reapers, it seemed. Shiala also sent a private message, with interesting information about how the after effects of the Thorian spores were enabling her to not only enhance the combat abilities of the colonists, but also helping overcome the effects of Sovereign's indoctrination - “it drowns out the Reaper voices”. Could something so simple as a mental and emotional connection with others help defend against the Reapers most insidious weapon? It might be something worth investigating.
General Corinthus and Wrex sent messages as well, with updates on the situation on Palaven now that krogan assistance was arriving. Dalatrass Linron's message was less complimentary, still obsessing over the effects of krogan expansion on the galaxy, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the galaxy won't survive without krogan assistance.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Citadel - “And that's why I hate politicians”
The Normandy arrived at the Citadel so Commander Shepard could meet with Councilor Valern. Unfortunately, all hell had broken loose. The Citadel was under attack by Cerberus, C-Sec had been “compromised” (according to Thane, who radioed the Normandy after evading Cerberus commandos at the hospital), and Cerberus assassins were after the Council.
Shepard, Liara and EDI used a shuttle infiltrate the station and made it to C-Sec headquarters. With the help of Commander Bailey – wounded in the fight, but able to keep in contact over the radio – they headed for the executors office, where Valern had intended to meet them.
As they made their way through C-Sec headquarters they found evidence of traitors within the agency, who looked the other way as Cerberus smuggled assassins and weapons onto the station, then murdered their colleagues when the coup attempt began.
The reached the executor's office, but they were too late. He was dead, but as Shepard looked back out into the lobby she noticed Councilor Valern hiding with the aid of a cloaking device. Unfortunately, a Cerberus assassin found him as well, and a stand-off ensued. Valern confirmed that Udina was the one backing the Cerberus coup attempt, and needed to be stopped before he handed the Councilors over to Cerberus.
Thane arrived and engaged the assassin, but he was critically wounded in the fight, and the assassin got away. Shepard and her team chased after him, fighting their way through Cerberus forces along the way. Eventually, they found Udina and the other Councilors, being protected by the newly appointed Spectre agent, Ashley Williams.
Another stand-off ensued, and Udina tried to imply that Shepard was the one working with Cerberus, not him. But Ashley and the Councilors believed Shepard, and when Udina pulled a pistol on Councilor Tevos, he was shot and killed by Ashley.
Commander Bailey and some C-Sec officers arrived, confirmed Shepard's story and informed them that the Cerberus soldiers chasing the Council had fled when they realized their coup attempt was doomed to fail. The Councilors expressed their gratitude, but Shepard (and Ashley) had just been doing their jobs.
Shepard met with Bailey in his office. He had no additional info on the Cerberus assassin thanks to a virus that Cerberus had installed in the Citadel's security system. He also let Shepard know that Thane was at Huerta Memorial, and his prognosis wasn't good. Shepard headed over there right away.
The physician treating Thane confirmed that there was nothing that could be done. Kolyat was there, and Thane asked them to join in reading from a prayer book. After Thane had passed away, Shepard realized that the prayer Thane had recited was for her, not for himself.

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Normandy: chatted with the crew about their new Prothean ally. Noveria: with Javik and Ashley, infiltrated a Cerberus fighter base and deactivated the defensive systems, allowing the Alliance to take the base. Citadel: completed some fetch quests and interactions. ---------- As she approached the elevator, Miriam activated her communicator, setting it to ship-wide broadcast. "All hands, this is Shepard. Go to alert status: mission to Noveria is a go. Javik and LC Williams, grab your gear and meet me in the shuttle." A moment after the transmission ended, her communicator beeped, indicating an incoming call on her private channel. "Miriam, it's Liara. Aren't you forgetting someone?" "Not this time, Liara. I want to see what Javik can do," said Miriam. "A low-risk mission is the perfect opportunity." "Charming," said Liara, adopting a tone of mock indignation. "I rescue you from the Collectors, I give you the Shadow Broker's resources free of charge, and you jilt me for a Prothean." "It's the blue biotics," said Miriam, smiling. "They're old news. Javik is all about green. Try practising some other colours while we're gone. I quite like orange." ---------- Media: Don't worry, just wait until he's blown his cover by openly exploring the Citadel: Miriam won't have the chance ever again... I don't think any of us can truly understand that, actually: Supporting Ashley at the refugee memorial: Encouraging Javik to make a rousing speech: Warning Miranda about Kai Leng: Miriam and Liara are firmly in the friend zone... ...but that doesn't prevent her from shipping her colleagues: Chilling out with Steve: Watch as I walk right past the heating stabilizers, and wander around for ages looking for the last baddie that is preventing the second part of the mission from triggering:

Finally watched Mass Effect: Paragon Lost. Hadn't realized it was on Hulu. Was it any good? I have a Hulu subscription, so maybe I’ll check it out. Eh. It was overacted, IMO. Also, it featured an asari who was a Prothean archaeologist that was NOT Liara (though she also put in an appearance). I found that odd. There was also a minor N7-related divergence in the movie versus ME3.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Citadel
The cleanup from the Cerberus coup attempt was ongoing. After saying goodbye to Thane at Huerta Memorial, Shepard headed for the docks to make sure Kelly was OK. She was, despite a scary moment when she overheard Cerberus commandos looking for her by name. Thankfully, her new identity had protected her. Shepard also assisted a film-maker named Solik obtain footage of the suffering of the refugees on the docks for a documentary he was working on.
Shepard ran into a doctor complaining that someone was sabotaging medigel dispensers, so she offered to assist. She encountered her old “friend” Conrad Verner near one of the dispensers, trying to recruit for Cerberus on the basis that Shepard used to work for them so they must be OK.
Shepard quickly set Conrad straight, and deduced that a Cerberus agent had sabotaged the dispensers while everyone was distracted by Conrad's antics. While talking to Conrad she also learned that he was actually a brilliant scientist who had written a research paper that would be useful to the people working on the Crucible. Nothing surprised her anymore (but that came close).
Conrad pointed out his Cerberus contact, who tried to kill Shepard, but Conrad pushed Shepard out of the way and sacrificed himself to save Shepard. Or at least he would have, if the Cerberus agent's gun hadn't misfired, thanks to Jenna, the C-Sec informant from Chora's Den that Shepard had helped years ago. She was impressed by Conrad's heroism (as was Shepard), and the two of them left together. It had been a strange day, but everything seemed to have worked out well in the end.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Citadel
Shepard was purchasing some armour upgrades on the Presidium when she was approached by Officer Jordan Noles from the E-Crimes division of C-Sec. Officer Noles was hoping Shepard could use her Spectre resources to assist her in investigating a someone who was using batarian access codes to commit acts of sabotage on the Citadel. Shepard agreed to help.
On her way to the Spectre office she overheard some people who sounded like they were up to no good. She investigated and found out that a retired Alliance officer named Captain Sommers was plotting to kill a Cerberus traitor – also a former Alliance officer - that C-Sec had in custody. Shepard convinced him that, whatever he thought of the plea bargain deal the traitor was getting, assassinations weren't how honourable officers did things. (Besides, if people who were duped into helping Cerberus started getting executed, Shepard herself would be in the firing line soon enough.)
Shepard analyzed the use of the access codes, which eventually led her to a terminal in the docks. As she was examining the data, she was confronted by Balak, the terrorist that had attempted to destroy Terra Nova, and who was now the highest ranking officer left in the batarian military. He had decided to take revenge on humanity for Shepard's actions by killing humans on the Citadel. Shepard convinced him that the Reapers were his real enemy, and Balak eventually stood down and agreed to contribute batarian forces to the war effort.
Speaking of batarian terrorists... Shepard investigated rumours of someone named Ghorek who was apparently guilty of some bombings on the Citadel. Shepard found him lying in a makeshift med bay in the docks, with a 50-50 chance to survive, according to the medic. Ghorek blamed Shepard for Aratoht, and asked Shepard to turn off life-support as an act of mercy, since he had literally nothing left to live for. Shepard did as he wished.
Joker and EDI were relaxing in Purgatory. Joker pulled Shepard aside and asked whether she thought a relationship with EDI was something he should pursue. Shepard figured that since it was the end of days – literally – there was little point in depriving themselves of the potential for happiness, no matter how unusual the relationship.
Steve was at the club as well, and offered to buy Shepard a drink as thanks for everything she'd done for him. They toasted their friendship.
Ashley was waiting for Shepard in the docking bay. She requested to rejoin the Normandy crew, and Shepard agreed without hesitation.
Normandy
Admirals Hackett and Anderson called in on vidcom for a debrief on the Udina / Cerberus coup attempt. Admiral Anderson had intel on the Cerberus assassin – named Kai Leng – describing some run-ins he an Kahlee Sanders had with him over the years.
Admiral Hackett updated them on the Crucible, now approximately 50% completed. They still weren't sure how it worked, though, but were convinced something called the “Catalyst” was the key to directing its energy towards destroying the Reapers. If only they knew what the Catalyst was.
The quarians were apparently “willing to talk”. Shepard was asked to make contact with them and secure the assistance of their fleet for the war effort. Liara also forwarded a request from the Asari government to investigate a distress signal.

Aww... my 11 yo daughter just finished the entire DA trilogy, so I suggested she starts MET. She plays on easy/casual and has a tendency to name her characters after her favorite thing in the world - food. Pie Shepard, Adept, War Hero, Earth-born, Paragon. She made it through the Dig Site, found the beacon and returned to Normandy... after DA she is not having much difficulty so far, but then she did not drive Mako yet.. Kaiden got a solid meh as a romance, but she thinks both Kaiden and Ashley are nice Well, here is to the growing BioWare fandom base Pre-teen angst: Kiddo: “mom, Joker sounds like he’s playing a video game. Is he permanent?” Me: “Yes, he will pilot your ship for all three games.” Kiddo: “Dang! What do I need a character named Joker for?”

Today, recruited Zaeed and then brought he and Miranda to recruit "Archangel". Recruited Mordin with Jacob and Miranda, saving every random being I came across along the way.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Normandy
EDI requested a moment of Shepard's time for another philosophical chat. At the end she decided to devote processing power towards “duty, altruism, love”, thereby “turning herself good” (as Joker put it).
Urdnot Bakara emailed with an update on the situation on Tuchanka. Shepard read a news report that said Aresh Aghdashloo, who as a boy was a victim of Cerberus experiments on Pragia along with Jack, had sacrificed himself to save a shuttle full of children escaping the Reapers.
Samantha challenged Shep to a chess match. Shepard lost, since “real life” tactics aren't very effective on a chess board. Diana Allers requested an interview about the Cerberus coup, which the commander granted. James wanted to meet as well – he'd been recommended for the N7 program on the day the Reapers invaded, and wanted Shepard's opinion on what he should do. Shep felt it was ultimately his decision, but that he'd do great if he accepted.
Admiral Anderson called (again), to update Shep on the situation on Earth. He mentioned that news of Shepard's successes were a boost of morale to the people fighting on Earth. He mentioned something big going down in London, and reiterated that she shouldn't underestimate Kai Leng.
Garrus was at the memorial wall, and the two talked about the coup. Dr. Chakwas asked for Shepard's help to negotiate an exchange of medical supplies on the Citadel.
Far Rim: Quarian Diplomatic Convoy
The Normandy flew to the Far Rim to rendezvous with a quarian envoy ship. The members of the Admiralty Board came aboard – Admiral Shala'Raan vas Tonbay, Admiral Han'Gerrel vas Neema, Admiral Daro'Xen vas Moreh, Admiral Zaal'Koris vas Qwib Qwib, and their newest member, Shepard's old friend Tali'Zorah vas Normandy. Tali had been elected to take her fathers place on the Board; Tali downplayed the importance of the promotion, but Shepard was proud that her expertise was recognized by her government.
It turned out the quarians had other concerns than just the Reaper invasion. They had initiated a war to try and take back their homeworld, and in doing so had driven the geth to reach out to the Reapers to try and ensure their own survival. It was a mess, and clearly there was still conflict within the Board itself about the decision, but Shepard understood the quarians point of view. The conflict had dragged on for three centuries, and it needed to come to a head one way or another. They best they could hope for now was to try and end it while minimizing the loss of life. The Reaper presence complicated things, though (to say the least).
Plans were made to attack a geth dreadnought that was being used by the Reapers to coordinate geth defences. Shepard had a bit of time to talk privately with Tali about the geth war, the Reaper war, and her promotion. She called it a “formality”, but Shepard knew that the knowledge and expertise of both the geth and the Reapers that she'd acquired over the last few years would be invaluable to the Board.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Perseus Veil: Geth Dreadnought
The Normandy arrived in the Perseus Veil in the midst of, to paraphrase Joker, a big ol' crap storm. While the battle between the geth and quarian fleets raged all around her, Shepard performed a spacewalk to access the docking tube of the geth dreadnought. Once she'd secured access, Tali and Liara joined her, and the team that took down Saren was together again (“just like old times”).
They fought their way past geth platforms to reach the drive core, and discovered how the Reapers were boosting the signal they were using to control the geth. Legion was hooked up to the core using Reaper tech. It reminded Shepard somewhat of the contraption David Archer had been hooked up to at Project Overlord, a parallel that she found disturbing.
They freed Legion, which disabled the signal and left the dreadnought defenceless. Admiral Gerrel decided to take the opportunity to destroy the dreadnought once and for all, and wasn't really willing to wait for Shepard and her team to escape first. With Legion's help they were able to get to a fighter and get out before the ship was destroyed. Tali and Liara were incensed, as was Admiral Raan, but Shepard understood Gerrel's actions, even though she would have like to have been informed of the plan ahead of time. During the fight the heavy fleet had been taking a lot of damage, and Admiral Koris' ship had even been shot down (RIP Qwib Qwib). So Shepard got where Gerrel was coming from.
The destruction of the dreadnought saved the quarian fleet, but the Reapers still had control of the geth thanks to a base on Rannoch. They would need to take that out to end the war; Legion offered to assist. They also needed to try and rescue Admiral Koris. The mission was off to an interesting start, but there was still lots to do.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Normandy
Shepard spoke with Legion to discuss the geth's side of the conflict, what Legion had been up to since they last spoke, what happened to the “heretics” that they had rewritten, and how the geth ended up aligned with the Reapers. He also revealed that geth fighter squadrons were endangering quarian liveships, and proposed a plan to stop them.
Maelon had evidently heard about the genophage being cured, and emailed Shepard about it. He seemed to think this exonerated him. Shepard wasn't sure about that, but she grudgingly had to admit that without the data from his experiments things might not have turned out as well as they did.
Garrus gave an update on the situation on Palaven. The krogan presence was helping, but he wasn't sure it would be enough. He was still trying to adjust to having all of that responsibility placed on him, with the Primarch asking him for advice all the time. Like Tali and Wrex, his experiences over the last few years with the Reapers had thrust him into a leadership position, and his people were relying on him.
In Engineering, Ken was being his usual “charming” self (poor Gabby). James and Steve were debating the merits of the Mako vs the Hammerhead. No contest in Shepard's mind – Mako all the way. Steve was also impressed with the geth fighter Shepard had got a chance to fly in. James was understandably suspicious of Legion, and thought the quarians were “loco” for starting the war at a time like this.
Perseus Veil: Rannoch - Rescue Admiral Koris
Tali and Liara accompanied Shepard to the surface of Rannoch, to attempt a rescue of Admiral Zaal'Koris and his crew after their ship crashed during the battle with the geth dreadnought. They were briefed by Admiral Xen during the shuttle flight. Admiral Koris had sacrificed his own ship to take out a geth cannon that had been targeting the fleet. The other civilian captains were apparently panicking without their leader, with many expressing a desire to try and flee the system. That would get them torn apart by the geth, so they had to find the Admiral and the other survivors of the Qwib Qwib fast.
Tali was obviously moved when she set foot on Rannoch for the first time. Shepard hoped the rest of her people would be able to join her before too long. Geth ground forces, along with a jamming tower, complicated the search. They found no survivors on the route to the tower, other than Dorn'Hazt, an maintenance worker who'd tried to hold off the geth to buy time for his shipmates to escape. Unfortunately, his injuries were so severe he died soon after they found him.
With the help of Steve's shuttle, they destroyed the jamming tower and were able to contact Admiral Koris. He'd become separated from the rest of his crew, and wanted Shepard to prioritize rescuing them first. Shepard understood – she would have argued the same in his position – but she had to insist that Admiral Koris be rescued first. She hated to do it, but losing the Admiral would likely result in the death of thousands if the Civilian captains tried to flee due to a lack of leadership. Earlier, Garrus had referred to these kinds of decisions as “the ruthless calculus of war”. At that moment, Shepard understood exactly what he'd meant.
Admiral Koris eventually agreed, and transmitted his location. The shuttle rescued him from the geth forces that were closing, but there was no time to search for the rest of the crew. They had already been overwhelmed by geth forces.
Normandy
Back on the Normandy, Admiral Koris contacted Shepard by vidcom. Having seen the state of the Civilian Fleet, he expressed support for Shepard's decision, despite his sadness at the loss of the crew of the Qwib Qwib.
Legion and Admiral Raan reported that the location of the base transmitting the Reaper control signal had been found. Legion indicated that the upgrades the Reapers had provided had evolved the geth, to the point that they were closer to true AIs. Individuals, even. That complicated things ethically, but it was a moot point for the time being. As long as they were controlled by the Reapers, the geth were the enemy, and needed to be treated as such.
They came up with a plan to destroy the geth base, but Admiral Raan recommended taking out the geth fighter base first. Shepard concurred.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Perseus Veil: Rannoch - Geth Server Hub
Legion accompanied Shepard, Tali, and Liara to a geth facility housing a server hub that was coordinating fighter attacks against quarian liveships. Shutting down the system would help minimize fleet losses.
It turned out to be a little more than a bit of server maintenance, however. Legion informed Shepard that she would have to enter the geth consensus itself and eliminate the Reaper code from the inside. Shepard was a little uncomfortable with this, especially as the interface technology was similar to what was used for Project Overlord, but she trusted Legion and agreed to do it.
It was a fascinating, surreal experience. While inside, she found data logs which gave some of the history of the geth-quarian conflict. It was from the geth's point of view, but didn't really contradict anything that Shepard had heard when speaking to Tali about it back on the SR1 a few years before. There were a couple of new revelations. One, the geth claimed that some quarians opposed the attempts to shut down the geth, and that these quarians were met with violence by the government. The other was that the geth allowed the quarian fleet to escape, even though they could have completely destroyed them.
The mission was successful. The geth fighters were disabled, and the quarian liveships were safe. Legion was able to save the geth programs within the server and transfer them to a number of geth prime platforms located at the base. The primes agreed to join the war effort once the conflict on Rannoch was resolved.

So, its been a long time since I played a femshep. An even longer time since I played one that I like, so I actually decided to replay the female Shepard that I recently just finished the trilogy with. But I just reloaded a save from Virmire (sorry can't play ME1 over again its too boring sometimes). This time I let Wrex and Kirahe die on Virmire as its been ages since I've done that. I'm also thinking of having nearly everyone die on the suicide mission as well.
I made it into ME2 and I just got Thane. I try to get him as soon as possible because he's one of my favorite squadmates. I also have to mention that Engineer is one of the most fun classes in the game. I only say this because I originally thought Engineers were a lame class. But there is something awesome about it. I still need to try out the Adept and Soldier classes again since I've gotten a lot better at these games (or I understand them better). But I had this class pegged all wrong. Its fun to bring down enemy defenses so your team mates can clean them up or use drones/hacking to cause confusion among the enemies.
I still find Infiltrators boring as hell because they are too easy and Vanguard too buggy to be fun at times. Sentinels are also a bit too easy and I feel this class fits a male character more. But yeah, basically I am really enjoying this femshep and this class. About the only thing that bothers me is the voice acting. After ME1, Hale's voice acting can be painful in certain sections.
