Having some issues with ME2, possibly from the mod I'm testing. Therefore, I started up a new ME1 run. Nathan Shepard, Engineer/Spacer/Sole Survivor. Much like the Troy I'd created for ME2, this guy will hate Cerberus once he finds out their role on Akuze. Also will hate batarians because he's from Mindoir.

I recently bought ME1 on Origin with the thought of installed textures mods at some point. It ended up being a titanic struggle, I eventually traced the problem to LAA. But depending on what I had LAA set as, the game would either crash when loading the Citadel or just not run at all. I guess it was the LAA patch that did the trick though I'm not sure why editing the masseffect.exe with CFF explorer didn't.
But anyways, I made it to the Citadel! I have never been so happy to hear the voice of Donnel Udina! LOL.

I know this is not that kind of topic, but I am going to be playing Sentinel in ME2 on Insanity. Its been a while since I played Sentinel. But does anyone have any suggestions for good builds for this class? All the powers on Sentinel are amazing. But what is worth maxing out besides tech armor, warp, overload, and the class itself? I loaded up an old ME2 sentinel save and had a go at the Reaper IFF mission on Insanity. I was at L27 and used this build: - Tech Armour: four ranks (Assault)
- Throw: two ranks
- Warp: four ranks (Heavy)
- Overload: two ranks
- Cryo Blast: four ranks (Full)
- Passive: four ranks (Guardian)
- Warp Ammo: one rank
Loadout was the Carnifex pistol, Tempest SMG, Viper SR and Cain. Squadmates were Grunt and Mordin. I favour a three-power playstyle with minimal use of the power wheel. I think that a bonus ammo power is a good choice for this playstyle because sentinels already have a good selection of active powers. That said, speccing Grunt into Squad Incendiary Ammo might have been better for this mission. With four ranks in Cryo Blast and only two in Overload, my build is minmaxed for the Reaper IFF mission. I have Warp on the left trigger, Cryo Blast on the right trigger and Tech Armour on the triangle button. If I were to attempt a complete Insanity run, I think I'd level Overload and Cryo Blast roughly evenly and map either Overload or Cryo Blast to the right trigger depending on the mission. Video behind the cut. My play is really bad to start with, having not played ME2 for a while (well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). It does get a bit better as I find my rhythm.

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Cyone: with Liara and Ashley, recaptured a fuel depot that had fallen into Reapr hands. Ashley assisted N7 Captain Riley's squad while Miriam and Liara biosploded a Brute. Citadel: completed some fetch quests; spoke to Miranda and arranged Alliance resources for her investigation into her father's activities; got mixed up in ridiculousness involving Zaeed and the volus ambassador; caught up with Ashley and Tali. ---------- "I'll see if some of my old contacts are still around," said Zaeed. "Can't promise you anything, but if enough of them are still breathing... I can lend a hand." "Have you worked with any of them personally?" asked Miriam. "Not directly, no," said Zaeed. "We've been involved in the same jobs, so I can vouch for 'em. But never in the same squads. Every time I invited one of 'em to join my team, they declined." "I can't imagine why," said Miriam. ---------- Media: It really wasn't: I had forgotten about this line. It amused me: Supporting Adams' stance on synthetic life: Having her cake and eating it: Happy for you; and happy for Miriam, for now: All one year of it: You should wave! And smile! Nothing special here, a nice simple mission with lots of biosplosion opportunities: I favour a three-power playstyle with minimal use of the power wheel. I think that a bonus ammo power is a good choice for this playstyle because sentinels already have a good selection of active powers As an alternative, one might choose a biotic bonus power to avoid having to spend points in Throw purely to unlock Warp. So... bonus content! Here's a first test of a Reave Sentinel for ME2. It worked okay, although I miss being able to angle the power around corners. Apologies for the seriously derpy play, I can't shoot straight and my situational awareness was rather lacking, getting caught in the fire. I also stuffed up the build when I respecced; I meant to select Guardian rather than Raider, so my cooldowns should have been a little faster.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Normandy
Following her adventure with Aria on Omega, Commander Shepard checked in with the crew of the Normandy. Evidently nothing exiting had happened while she was gone, as none of them had much to say, other than Javik who complained that “your Liara asari” asked too many questions, as if “she'd never met a prothean before”. Hmm.
Citadel
Aria had returned to the Citadel, claiming that for the time being it was easier to coordinate from there. She gave the Commander an update on the rebuilding efforts on Omega.
Citadel: Silversun Strip - Anderson's Apartment
Admiral Hackett wanted the Normandy crew to take some shore leave, so that the ship could get some long overdue repair work done. It sounded like a good idea to Shepard; she could use a break, and felt the crew probably needed one as well.
Hackett asked Shepard to go to an apartment owned by Admiral Anderson, in the Wards on the Silversun Strip. When she arrived, Samantha notified her that Anderson was waiting to speak to her on vidcom. Anderson informed her that he wanted her to have the apartment, since he obviously couldn't get much use out of it anymore. Shepard thanked him for his generosity – the apartment would make a good place for the crew to unwind during their all too rare downtimes.
She toured the apartment, finding various audio logs made by Anderson – evidently someone had been in the middle of writing his biography when the war broke out, so notes containing his replies to the biographer's questions were scattered all over.
An email came in from Joker asking to meet for dinner and discuss something, so Shepard left the apartment and headed for the Ryuusei sushi restaurant. Shortly after sitting down at Joker's table, however, it became clear that they'd both been lured there under false pretenses.
A woman in an Alliance uniform ran up to the table, introducing herself as Staff Analyst Maya Brooks. She worked for Alliance Intelligence and had discovered attempts to hack into Shepard's comm channels and personal records. She didn't know who or why, but it was obviously whoever faked the emails to lure Shepard and Joker to the restaurant.
The discussion was interrupted when a group of mercenaries busted in, looking for Shepard. Shepard sent Joker to get the crew, but the mercs grabbed Brooks before the Commander could take them out.
She was able to reach Brooks and free her, but more mercs arrived and started shooting. Brooks was wounded, but the rest of their shots missed, hitting only the floor. Unfortunately, the floor was a glass display with a bunch of fish in it, so Shepard fell through when in shattered and ended up falling down multiple levels, ending up in some commercial district of the Wards. She was safe for the time being, but she'd have to try and find her way back, while dealing with the mercs who were still after her.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Citadel: Silversun Strip – Cision Motors
Shepard survived her fall through the glass floor at the Ryuusei sushi restaurant, and was contacted on the radio by Brooks, who evidently survived her gunshot wound as well. Shepard checked the area, and decided the landing pad at the Cision Motors skycar lot was her best bet to get out of there.
She encountered more mercs on the way to the dealership, but dealt with them without too much trouble. Joker had apparently found the crew and filled them in, as she was contacted over the comm by Liara and then Tali, who both let the commander know that help was on the way.
Shepard made it to the skycar lot, where she was joined by Liara. Liara complimented Shepard on her outfit, even though it was the same dress blues she'd been wearing since rejoining the Alliance. Still, it felt nice to be appreciated.
They went out to the landing pad to wait for the C-Sec shuttle that was coming to extract them. The shuttle arrived, but inside were more mercs rather than C-Sec officers.
Yet another firefight broke out, but this time an old friend joined the fun. Urdnot Wrex, on the Citadel for meetings with the Council, had heard about the commotion and wanted to come and help Shepard kick butt.
The three old friends were able to hold off the mercs long enough to be picked up in a shuttle by Joker and Brooks, and they returned to the apartment on the Silversun Strip to try and figure out what was going on.
Brooks explained how she had learned of the attempts to access Shepard's classified security codes and other information. Liara was able to come up with a lead to pursue, while Joker returned after having fetched the rest of the team - “folks who actually like being shot at.”
Shepard checked in with each member of the squad, while they waited for Liara and Brooks to dig up some intel on who was after them.

I restarted my game and myJanei Shepard a Sentinel in ME2, she was a Vanguard in ME1. Some might remember, that I had problems with the archangel mission prior. ANdsince I started playing 'Trouble at the Citadel' here in the forum, I wanted to try again. So Janei is out again, rescueing her future husband. This time, she did recriut Mordin beforehand, learned Overload and Throw and tried again. So far, so good, I've cleared two garages (with teh flamethrower guy and the middle one) and my first try with the big garage was very promising. I was of the assumption, that I have to get to the end of the hall very quickly, but dragontartare pointed out, that I should kill the first two enemy waves. My recklessness did get me killed. But Sentinel Shepard, Mordin and Zaeed are working far better than Vanguard Shepard, Miranda and Zaeed. I have a really good feeling now A few newbie thoughts: - I like the mystery of ME 2 - ME1 did a good job too in that regard, they certainly know how to suck the player into the story .- I hate that I have to work for that racist organisation - I don't trust Kelly, she is too cheerful (and not in the good Firefly-Kaylee way, in a very brainwashed way) - I love Mordin and Zaeed, but have great lines along the way and tehy are useful - I kind of warm up towards Jacob, despite the fact, that he is too soldiery for me (stop saluting, we are not even in the military right now ), but he shares my Shepards distrust for Cerberus, so she is ok with him for now. - Miranda and I won't become friends anytime soon. She is a really annoying character and a bit of a special snowflake with her being super-uber-engineered and trained and and and. She might become my ME.Morrigan, the one, staying in camp and getting ignored. - Yay for Joker being back. I missed his grumpy ass. - and also yay for the doctor from ME 1, I liked her. - love the engineer, very sweet guy Here are some pics of Janei, I mostly imported her from my ME1 game The last one is my favorite, because she asks a very good question there. Of course, Miranda didn't have a good answer

Is there something I'm missing in regards to this? I generally only use it on barriers and armored enemies. And obviously on pulls. I am not a fan of the Tempest in ME2. It seems like it spits a lot of bullets but doesn't do much damage unless you are point blank. I can see it being good for a Vanguard. I'd rather use a shotgun or the Mattock on the Sentinel myself.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Citadel: Silver Coast Casino
Liara managed to track down information on the mercenaries that had attacked Shepard and Joker at the sushi restaurant. They were a PMC calling themselves CAT6, and there was evidence they'd had dealings with an arms dealer named Elijah Khan. Khan owned a casino in addition to his illegal smuggling business, and he would likely be their best bet for getting more leads on who was trying to steal Commander Shepard's identity.
Khan's casino – the Silver Coast – was hosting a charity benefit that night, so a plan was put together to infiltrate the event and get to Khan in is well-secured panic room / hiding place.
Shepard, Liara and Brooks attended the event. Shepard and Liara “mingled” at the party, as a cover for overriding the security systems and distracting guards while Brooks used a ventilation shaft to reach Khan's panic room. Shepard was surprised that she actually enjoyed her time at the party, meeting some interesting people, and even running into Shi'ira the Consort, who she hadn't seen in a few years.
They made it to Khan's panic room undetected, but they were too late – someone else had got there first, and Khan was dead. They were able to salvage some data from his computer terminal, though, including a communications log of the last person he spoke to. They contacted the mystery person, hoping to find out who it was, but they were using an identity scrambler, so they could not recognize the person on the other end of the line.
The identity thief taunted Shepard that they would take away everything she had, but refused to give any reason for his/her actions.
They took the data drives from Khan's terminal back to the apartment, so that EDI analyze them and try to come up with another lead.

Is there something I'm missing in regards to this? I generally only use it on barriers and armored enemies. Thank you for watching my excessively-long video The reasons for my use of Warp on unarmoured foes are twofold: - I was intending to target an armoured thing, but missed.
- I was intending to hit the unarmoured thing with Cryo Blast, but pressed the wrong button.
Under ideal circumstances, I prefer the Locust to the Tempest in ME2. However, for me, close-quarters combat against hordes of Husks is not an ideal circumstance. I know that I'm going to be shooting a lot and will miss more than I hit. For that reason, I chose the Tempest for this mission due to its larger clip size and spare ammo reserve. I think it would have been a bit more effective if I had specced Grunt into Squad Incendiary Ammo; the few bullets that actually connected would have done more damage that way.

No, thank you for the video. Its always interesting and fun to see how others tackle the game. I always learn something new at the very least. I never knew pull/throw is a good combo for adepts in ME2. Your video was fun to watch. But thanks for clarifying my questions. I actually prefer the original Shuriken simply because of how it looks. I know its not a great gun and Locust is super amazing, but I don't really use SMGs much in ME2. I also finished my ME1 Sentinel run and will be doing ME2 on Sentinel soon. I will keep these tips in mind. With that said, its been a long time since I played broshep in ME1. And his voice acting is actually better than I remember. I don't know why he gets so much flak. He does sound bored at times, but he sounds good most of the time. Some instances he sounds better than Hale who is also stellar in that game. In this run, I was romancing Ashley, but the goal was to have her die on Virmire and save Kaidan. When Kirahe expressed sorrow for her death, my broshep genuinely seemed upset and slightly heartbroken that Ashley died when saying she was a good soldier. He also sounded great when yelling at Kaidan to "get it together soldier."

I finally finished the archangel mission - and without much trouble this time. Switching Janei from vanguard to Sentinel after importing her was a good idea. I have much less trouble with the fighting now. But the Archangel mission, I did yesterday. Today, Janei was busy with the following: - searching the Normandy crash side for signs of the dead crewmen and enduring some very boring flashbacks (I'm not much into spaceships, the only ones, that interests me are the Tardis, Moya and Serenity, I couldn't even remember, how the Normandy looked like). The destroyed Mako brought a smile on my face - finding some Cerberus agent, who was killed during interrogation - freeing Jack, a girl with talents and issues, obviously. Of course the prison commander betrayed us and of course the whole prison was after us, I think in that universe, Shepard is a synonym for trouble, a bit like dwraf, but instead of the adorable dwarf, she has the adorable turian . Well I think, my Shepard will get along with Jack, both hate Cerberus, like breaking rules and are bitchy to Miranda - perfect. What I like is the relatively uncomplicated upgrade system. What I don't like is the planetary survey and the constant search for a fuel station. We might visit the Citadel station soon - sound like a fun thing to do. But before that, Janei will help Zaeed with a mission. That was a nice scene: getting drunk with the doc The dream team please imagine here some badass music

Miriam Shepard, Paragon Floldier, ME3 Insanity: Omega: assisted Aria T'Loak in recapturing her fiefdom from Cerberus. Straight Paragon run: powered down the forcefields safely to avoid civilian casualties; took Petrovsky into Alliance custody where he sang like a canary. ---------- Ashley and Liara sat at a table in the mess hall opposite each other. A few metres away, Javik leaned against a bulkhead, half-listening to their conversation but mostly keeping to himself. "Sure wish we could have gone to Omega with Miriam," said Ashley. "Aria T'Loak is an extremely powerful biotic. I'm sure that the two of them will be fine," said Liara, as much for her own benefit as for Ashley's. "Yeah, I know," said Ashley. "Still, I think I'm gonna find somewhere quiet and say a prayer for her." Javik turned to face the two women. "A prayer?" he said. "The turians with their spirits, the hanar with their absurd myths, you humans with your gods and devils... this cycle has barely progressed in fifty thousand years." "Is there nothing you believe in?" asked Liara, neither shocked nor surprised by Javik's rudeness. "Look at the galaxy around you," said Javik. "The Reapers swarm like locusts. They devour planets, systems, whole races. When I witness such devastation, such suffering, such meaninglessness... how can I believe in any higher goodness?" "I don't see it that way," said Ashley. "For centuries, my people exploited and abused our world, and each other. It was awful, sure; but that doesn't detract from the beauty of the galaxy. Now, the galaxy lies in ruins; but that doesn't detract from the beauty of the universe, or the goodness of the Creator. I do see the hand of Someone in it all." "Perhaps the universe was created by some higher power," said Javik, "but I deny that They are any kind of good god. Any god that permits the Reapers to exist is either powerless to stop them, or simply does not care. In which case, They are either too pitiful or too malign to worship. They are not any god worthy of the description." Liara stared at the table. Ashley's eyes narrowed very slightly. A tiny smile played across her lips. "You're wrong," said Ashley. "I don't know why the Reapers are here, I don't know what purpose they serve, and I don't know who created them; they could even be the devil. But every day, I thank God for giving us desire to be free, and the will to fight, and the minds to design weapons to kick the Reapers back into dark space, and the hands to pull the trigger. And I thank Them for blessing us with Miriam. With her leadership, we might even win." Javik made a noise that sounded a little like a snort. "The Commander's ability, I do not deny. But to give thanks to a supposed deity for it? I am not so naïve, nor so foolish. I will leave you with your delusion." He turned around and left the mess hall. Liara looked up. "That was awful, even by his standards. But, I'm impressed. You kept remarkably calm while he mocked your beliefs." Ashley chuckled. "That was mocking? Compared with the trolls on the extranet, the guy's an amateur." She stood up. "Okay, I really am going to go and say that prayer now. You coming?" Liara smiled at her friend and rose to her feet. "Thank you, I'd like that." ---------- Media: How "free" they were is a matter of opinion: So, explain why I keep mashing the "Reave" button only for nothing to happen? Halt, who goes there? Omega Angels. Well, two angels: Trust the Paragon! This would be an even better picture if not for ME3's mood lighting: Safely rerouting the power: See, I told you that you can trust the Paragon! Paragon ending: You wanted Shepard; you got Miriam: Watch as I LEEROY JENKIIIIIIIINS a Combat Engineer while under heavy fire and somehow get away with it: The last section is overly-cautious and pretty dull because it took two attempts. Should've gone for the high ground, but I forgot that it was there... This took a few tries:

I should point out I have been laying ME1. There's another board I've been posting on and haven't had the interest in making lengthy posts on two boards, nor in a straightforward copy/paste. I did just finish Feros with a perfect outcome, Paragon style.

To all the Liara haters: I might finally get it.
My renegade Alex was rude to Liara in ME1, and still ended up getting ninjamanced and screwing up the desired romance with Ashley. I had to redo one of the planets to fix that, but all ended well.
Now I'm taking him through Shadowbroker, and it's all, "Don't worry, Liara," and "That's what friends do, Liara." No, Shepard. She is not your friend. You think she's a liability. You're helping her with the Shadowbroker because you plan to use her to defeat your enemies.
I suppose Liara herself isn't actually the problem, but rather the lack of non-friendship responses to whatever crap she says.

^ That sums up how I felt after my first non-friendly pt. Both she and Shep forget that - in some pts - they're not friends. "Liara... I got you at the very end... We haven't even talked that much... No. Don't. Hug. Me. " Dammit Liara. I'm not your hater, but the fact that they didn't give proper "no" options in dialogue with you pisses me off.

I think the new ME2 Recalibrated mod does away with the hug, or at least makes it optional. Don't remember what else it does re: making Liara no longer a default bestie. Backoff mod for ME3 also re-does the friendship integer count so you don't get points just for going to her room to check the terminals.

So long as she's not getting pushy trying to romance me, I'm okay. Still, even in ME1, if you say you like A/K, she'll still be like "But you like me, too, right?!" She's more than willing to smash apart anything you have going on with A/K. It's creepy.

masseffectfanforlife: About that space cow. There's a reason my Renegade Shepard's mow all those cows down. Clearly they're not trustworthy.

Troy Shepard - started this ME2 run to test a mod but the mod was crashing the game. I'm invested in an ME1 PT right now but wanted to make sure ME2 was working with the mod removed. So here's what I've got:
- Made my way to recruit Archangel only to discover it was Garrus Vakarian! All I had to do to get him on my side was take on the Blue Suns, Blood Pack and Eclipse. All in a day's work, but with Zaeed and Jacob helping out. Garrus took a major hit in the end and the scars he got were nothing compared to what was left from after my two years of surgery. Brought him back to the Normandy med bay so Dr. Chakwas could fix him up. - I managed to upgrade the Normandy's med bay and...ta da!...heal my scars completely. I don't plan to live the lonely life and certainly don't want to put whoever I'm with through the horror of looking at my scars. They weren't that terrible but Chakwas implied they could be worse if I got moody. That's almost certainly bound to happen eventually. - While with Chakwas, I handed over that bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy she'd wanted. We cracked open that bottle and had some great conversation while we finished it off. Our toast was to being happily drunk and that is what we were. I can definitely drink her under the table. Is it the implants or was I always such a lush?

Samuel Shepard has now arrived in Mass Effect 2. SO excited to play ME2 again. I like ME1, but the combat is so clunky. He romanced Ashley in ME1, and I think we will continue with that romance.
