Finished up on Menae (Normal mode is so easy! ) so now boyfriend and new primarch are on the Normandy. EDI got a new body and wants to take it for a test drive soon.
Sooo much running around on the Citadel. I forgot how much I hate that part. I just want to go shoot stuff, not run errands via the femShep glide step. I forgot to buy the whiskey for Kaidan (whoops) and didn't talk to Thane at the hospital since I didn't think I'd received his email yet. But I did - I just skipped over it I guess (double whoops). I did finally buy some fish but only one kind available so far? What the hell?! Don't they know that Hammy is a lonely little space hamster who needs many different kinds of fishies for company?
Did Bau's quest, which always bugs me, and 2/3 of Aria's mercs are on board. I "released" Sederis so Sayn could take her out. Told you it was classified, Bailey. Picked up a bunch of fetch quests and delivered a banner to a turian who just happened to want it. Hit the Cerberus lab and grabbed some Reaper tech to study. Remembered to pick up the hanar medi-gel research but only found one message by Talavi.
I'm trying to find a shotgun to get me by until I can afford the Wraith. So far, I don't like any I've tried all that much. The explosions from the Venom are fun but it has a small capacity - I ran out of ammo twice on the lab mission! The Piranha holds more but has the range of me throwing a shot put ie not far at all. The Crusader and Raider are too heavy, and the Katana and Scimitar don't do as much damage as I'd like, plus they also have fairly short range. Booo.....

Owen Shepard: Off to Mahavid to find Dr. Garneau and just maybe that Reaper killed called Leviathan. Cortez did say there were signs of Reapers but we already knew that they were shadowing the Leviathan. I called that a good sign. Kaidan wasn't so sure. First thing we encountered were some marauders and brutes. Kaidan figured the people inside were terrified so we went in to reassure them. That's when things got weird. We walked inside and the miners acted as though nothing had ever happened. They also gave us the creepiest looks. Walked over to the reception area and mentioned the Reaper attack. When I said they'd been taken care of they said "That will be all." They were completely unconcerned and acted like zombies. Then they went on to tell us about their tungsten mining operation. I asked about Dr. Garneau. One said he wasn't there while the other asked if I needed a doctor. I said I wanted to look around but was told the access elevator was broken - as a miner walked away from it. Then I was told I didn't belong there. In fact, multiple people told me that. If this wasn't indoctrination I'd sell my sister's helmet. The only thing to do at this point was use a drone to repair the elevator. Once that was done I too a look at the names of those who'd recently accessed the elevator. Garneau was one of them. The more we looked around the creepier everything got. One thing for certain is that they weren't interested in mining. Then I found a datapad saying the comm systems were offline and that the message wasn't sent. It was from Garneau to Bryson. He said he'd found "another artifact", that he needed Bryson to come and that something was very wrong. He also attached a passcode that could hack any of the doors "just in case". Looking around in the personnel area, I found datapads with messages dating back eight years. One of them mentioned that the father of a miner hadn't heard from her in some time even though her mother was very ill. How long were these people indoctrinated? I remember well Dr. Kenson being indoctrinated by a Reaper artifact she had found. Was that what was going on here? According to one terminal, Garneau had been involved in an altercation and was being treated. We were able to find his patient number and use it to access the med bay. First we saw a dead body we hoped wasn't Garneau. Then someone locked in another room said he was Garneau. Tried to tell us things like looking for the Leviathan was a dead end but we mentioned his vid call to Bryson. Then he said "The darkness cannot be breached", which is exactly what Bryon's assistant had said. I mentioned wanting to take the artifact of the Leviathan and go. Garneau, or whatever was controlling him, said we would not take what was his. Then the glass partition between us exploded and he ran off. We pursued by Reapers were in our way: husks, banshees, marauders and ravagers. When we got to the door Garneau passed through we saw that the power supply had been cut. A repair drone was needed but its power reserves were low and I had to accompany it. Meanwhile, Reaper forces continued to attack. Those banshees really do a number on Kaidan. I wonder if it's because he's biotic or his migraines. Once we got through the door we tracked Garneau to the mine and saw an artifact there like the one in Bryson's lab. There were husks all around and Garneau sat near the artifact with a detonator in his hand. He triggered it and blew himself and the artifact up. Then Kaidan and Javik found a body that had been dead for a while. It was the real Garneau and his datapad showed eight missed calls from a Dr. Ann Bryson. We'd have to investigate her. A few miners filtered into the area, acting very confused. The did not recognize Garneau in the slightest and couldn't believe any of the miners could have killed him. They described having a feeling of "cold and dark". They did recognize the artifact and said the head office was supposed to send someone. Cortez told me the Reaper forces had left and one miner asked what a Reaper was. Then the kicker: I asked them what year it was. The response was "2176". These people had lost ten years of their lives. On the shuttle back we discussed if this Reaper killer was actually a Reaper. What else could take one of them down? We did know that the artifacts could indoctrinate and that Bryson had found a way to block them from doing so. Major problem here was that one of those artifacts was located right in the center of the Citadel. Headed back to Bryson's Lab. EDI used his notes to put a barrier around the artifact that shielded us from its effects. Found a vid call from Dr. Ann Bryson. She'd found another artifact, noticed it was affecting the behavior of others and recommended shielding the one here. She also trued to warn Garneau but couldn't reach him. Worse, Reaper forces were showing up at her location. We just had to figure out where that was. [Computer locked up but fortunately this was saved. I think that's my cue to sign off.]

I love Leviathan but I still have to do Omega and I am seriously thinking of skipping it.

Your problem is you want to use a shotgun, you should be using an AR I don't like most of the ARs in ME3. I usually use SMG or SR, whatever class I play. But, I'm a Vanguard this time, so shotgun it is. I guess I just need to Charge more enemies.

On with Therum, last batch of pictures before I continue with the game Geth Dropship doing its stuff
Do we know why the Geth's ships look like they do, like some sort of insect? The Art of Mass Effect book says that it's inspired on the position the hornet takes when it's about to sting. Also, those things that appear like "insect hands" were actually inspired on flies and the hands they keep licking and scrubbing. The reason for the design could be the Geth Dropship is actually a mix of a hive (the inside, to store the eggs) and the Queen Hornet that actually put those eggs. On a related Mass Effect note, I also found out that Quarians follow a vegan diet, because of practicality: "the amount of water needed to hydrate and animal is exponentially more than the amount needed to grow plants, and on a starship, all water would need to be conserved carefully." (Art of Mass Effect too) And on a related biology note, I also found out that hornets (and wasps), unlike honey bees, can sting repeatedly without dying because their stingers are not barbed and aren't pulled out of their bodies.

Owen Shepard: Going through Bryson's lab again, EDI and I got a lead on where Ann Bryson might be. Then we headed right out since we knew Reapers were headed her way looking for the artifact she'd found. Tracked her to Namakli, which was swarming with Reapers, harvesters dropping down a steady supply of husks, banshees, cannibals and ravagers. The place was hit so hard that it was falling apart. Finally caught up to her but she was the only survivor. Even some of the fellow scientists with her had tried to make a run for it but ended up dead. Found some interesting artwork along the way from some long dead civilization. One of them showed what looked like a Reaper with natives under its control. But if it was indoctrination, why did it look like they were worshiping it? This was more like what had gone on in that mining facility. Ann Bryson said that it was much older than originally thought. We grabbed Ann and ran for a shuttle pickup. That's when we saw a Marauder around the artifact. It had activated it but we weren't sure what it was doing. The Leviathan then talked through Ann and tried to head toward the artifact. Had to hold her back while James and Kaidan took out the artifact. Better that than the Reapers get their hands on something that could kill them. Got Ann to safety and told her of her father's fate. She wanted to see his lab. I sent her on ahead and said I'd meet her there.

I am pretty sure I have enough war assets now to get all the endings and can't remember what mods you pick up but at this stage I am not in need of any help with combat. I'll see how I am feeling later (yesterday I definitely came down with a bad head cold), but I'll probably end up playing it.

I can't get that until I do Grunt's mission, which I can't do until after Surkesh. I still prefer the Wraith though. Only have 4 levels in Incendiary atm.

LOL well that would be an impressive feat!!!!! Sorry about the cough, hope you are feeling better soon. The head cold thing is already hopefully passing, but what is killing me is I stupidly lifted something way too heavy helping a friend the other day. It has meant having a head cold and randomly getting searing headaches from my back and neck which isn't a great combo. Anyway Shepard has to cope with worse!!!!

So yesterday William continued his search for Leviathan. After having made contact with it at the mining facility it was back to the lab to try and figure out what to do next. Working with EDI, William decided the best course was to find Dr Bryson's daughter Ann. I don't know what I missed doing but I didn't trigger the whole Basilisk discussion with EDI??? Putting his Sherlock Holmes hat on William and EDI quickly tracked her to a planet named Namakli. It was an interesting fight to get to her with Harveters everywhere and buildings collapsing all over the place but the team eventually got her extracted and headed back to the lab. Ann was a mess dealing with her dad's death but she was also really brave and submitted herself to linking with the artefact so we could track down Leviathan to wherever it was hiding. James wanted Shepard to stop but William pushed Ann through one renegade response and was able to narrow the planet to Depoina. Arriving at Despoina the shuttle was knocked out twice by some sort of pulse. Searching the wreck that Steve crash landed on revealed the awful fate of the ships surviors until they perished. However William was fortunate there was a diving Mech on board that he could use to get to Leviathan's location which just happened to be under the ocean. After a both beautiful and nerve wracking descent William came face to face with The Leviathan and was immediately subject to its mental interrogation. After much argument Shepard finally convinced Leviathan to join the war effort and was very glad to return to the surface and Tali was very relieved he was OK and told him his life wasn't worth it and to not do it again back on board the Normandy. Some pic's: A "murder" of Harvesters? Native Art on despoina - what the hell is the thing the natives are fighting, Gigantor? Ann explaining the art Leviathan and friends Incoming Reaper Subjugated/Dead Reaper

Native Art on despoina - what the hell is the thing the natives are fighting, Gigantor? Probably a synthetic that the Leviathan subjugated and threw against the organics to "prove" that they could never got along. Exactly like the Reapers do.

Probably a synthetic that the Leviathan subjugated and threw against the organics to "prove" that they could never got along. Exactly like the Reapers do. I figured it was some sort of rival to Leviathan and the natives were being used to fight it but that thing if in scale is huge. Or maybe it is Leviathan helping a native race against a Synthetic uprising?

Defrosted Prothy the Prothean and brought him on board. Liara was definitely bouncing.
Scanned a few systems, ran away from Reaper ships, found some salvage and other goodies. I think I might have barely enough credits to afford the Wraith now and then I'll be flat broke again.
Rescued the students (and Jack and Kahlee) from Grissom Academy. Took EDI on her first mission; she got to say hi to David Archer.
Next stop will be back at the Citadel for more fishies (I checked the console in the shuttle bay - they're in stock!), hopefully a new gun, a few meet ups, and more gliding around. Then it will be off to play diplomat.

That's usually the only mission I take her on, "I remember you, Normandy computer. Sorry"

Your problem is you want to use a shotgun, you should be using an AR I don't like most of the ARs in ME3. I usually use SMG or SR, whatever class I play. But, I'm a Vanguard this time, so shotgun it is. I guess I just need to Charge more enemies. I use the sabre (?) but also like the N7 rifle. But I DO like shotguns and sniper rifles.

I figured it was some sort of rival to Leviathan and the natives were being used to fight it but that thing if in scale is huge. Or maybe it is Leviathan helping a native race against a Synthetic uprising? Maybe, but I say what I said for a reason. The Leviathan said synthetics were wiping out organics and so they got no tribute. To that end, they stupidly created a powerful AI which turned on them and created the Reapers. The _only_ (I can't stress that word enough) examples we have of this are when the Reapers directly intervene. Two examples, actually, which are the geth and the zha'til. The geth uprising was due to being attacked by the quarians. To that end, the geth made sure no organics came into their territory but also never ventured beyond it. It was only when Sovereign showed up and convinced about half of them to join him that they started attacking organics across the galaxy. But it was still only half of them. Then, when the quarians were about the kill them, they sided with the Reapers to survive. I wonder how many of us would side with the Devil when facing extinction. Then we have the zha'til. They were created by a race called the zha who implanted the zha'til inside of them in a symbiotic fashion (like SAM, for example). All was well until the Reapers showed up, subjugated the zha'til and used them to take control of the zha. In other words, it was the Reapers behind the attack not the AI on their own. My point is that the Leviathan have a bias that synthetics are the enemy. Thus, they'll do what they can to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. The Reapers, made in the image of their creators, do the same thing. (Shouldn't be a shock that the AI of the Leviathans began the process of destroying all organic life.)

I'm very early in my only 2nd story gameplay of ME3...can't believe i haven't touched storymode since 2012... ......but i think that was due to the fact that i couldn't get Jack to survive in ME2 and i got a wee bit frustrated....well that and ME3 MP is just incredibly addicting *Phoenix Vanguard fo' Life!... *.....but i just left Palaven and acquired Garrus. I must say tho....this game has aged amazingly well....that graphical jump from 2 to 3 was profound ....the visuals and texture work are still pretty impressive and i love the desperate and hopelessness theme being conveyed.....beautifully done. Much RESPEC' to themikefest and dmc1001 for advice on saving Jack...i haven't gotten to that area/scene yet, but i was able to save her finally following your advice.....should be a complete experience now that i have the whole squad alive....

Playing ME3 renegade path. Whuaawt? What kind of Renegade would destroy Krogan cure. Who'd want those salarian wusses on their side over Wrex and a bunch of brain bashing badasses.
