Playing ME3 renegade path. Whuaawt? What kind of Renegade would destroy Krogan cure. Who'd want those salarian wusses on their side over Wrex and a bunch of brain bashing badasses. TBH, I only save the Genophage Cure so that Wrex won't die and I have him as a squadmate for Citadel DLC. I mean, sure, I could always do Citadel DLC without Wrex, but that's just wrong.

When I think of Wrex calling my Shepard his brother, saying his name would mean "hero" to his people, or when I think of Grunt saying Shepard would be his battlemaster because he has no equal...these things tell me the krogan will never be the enemy of humanity. Also, the fact that the krogan were willing and able to fight to SAVE their long time enemies, the turians, says a lot about them. I can't see how stopping the genophage is the wrong way to go. Frankly, I'd be surprised if Grunt weren't appointed Wrex's successor, thus ensuring that things continue to run smoothly. As far as after the war, imagine the krogan as first contact specialists? We know the yahg massacred the first contact team that landed on their planet. Imagine a whole bunch of krogan there instead? Things would have turned out differently. They'd also be great to send through unexplored mass relays so they could figure out if there are threats there that need dealing with. I just see great possibilities and agree with the one salarian who said the krogan could play an evolutionary role in the galaxy that no one could predict.

I don't think I have the DLC and it's my 1st playthrough the entire trilogy. But that is certainly the most compelling argument. I never could give up on any of the recruitable heroes. Hence I was playing rough as renegade, my two best buds were Wrex and Garrs in ME1. I regret having destroyed the ME2 cure just so I could get more ren points and for the pure sake of mwuhuhu evil. Now that I think of it, that makes less sense for a char raised on Earth in some dumpster and tuff as nails to go judgemental on people who have exactly the same philosophy as her and when you know you'll always have assistance of your kickass pal. Have to ask yourself too, is that what those salarians and IM will do to me after I'm done saving everyone's rears just like Korgan with rachni.

I don't like most of the ARs in ME3. I usually use SMG or SR, whatever class I play. But, I'm a Vanguard this time, so shotgun it is. I guess I just need to Charge more enemies. Mattock... I'll keep using you no matter what they do to you, my love LOL Never been a fan of the Mattock.

I use the sabre (?) but also like the N7 rifle. But I DO like shotguns and sniper rifles. Tha M99-Saber is my favourite weapon, had some fun with the Striker this PT though as well. Stupidly was mucking around with weapons yesterday and somehow found myself doing Omega's last battles with the goddam Vindicator and I hate burst fire AR's.

Hence the Krogan don't have all those complex political and diplomatic structures (for which they get called savages) the amount of debate time as to whether the ass kicking is applicable and the ass kicking itself gets drastically reduced, thus, they react the sanest of all races given the circumstances. I do wander if that Krogan had eaten the presidium fish or secretly called it cuddles. :3 I think people tend to consider not curing the genophage only if Wrex dies (at Virimire I guess?) and that other crazy guy gets in charge who actually does look like something to worry about. To me so far not curing it looks bad from either ren or para point of view.

I went shoppin! I bought the Wraith (couldn't wait for the second discount so only got 5% off instead of 10%) and still had enough leftover credits to buy more fishies!
Then I had a party on the Normandy with Victus, Wrex, and Dalatrass Bitch (does she have a name?), which ended with a krogan air drop on Sur'Kesh. And we hadn't even been drinking! Found Mordin, rescued Eve, and killed some Cerberus mooks. A good time was had by all. Well, except for the mooks. And the dalatrass.
Headed to Tuchanka to ruin some more mooks' day and gained a ground to air cannon for my trouble. I forgot how easy playing on normal is - I remember the long ago days when I thought it was hard! My go-to team atm is Javik with his Particle Rifle and Garrus with the Typhoon. It's like I'm cheating!
Next up will either track down the turian platoon or go back to the Citadel for more drop-offs. Now that I have my Wraith, I think I can wait for discount #2 before buying any upgrades for it.

Owen Shepard: Went to Bryon's lab and found Ann there crying. I offered to leave but she insisted on finding out what her father had learned about the Leviathan. Meanwhile, I took a selfie with a bit of Sovereign. Rest in pieces you piece of shit. One thing we did know was that the energy emitted by the artifacts could only be traced with controlling someone. I'm going on the record saying it's a terrible idea. Unfortunately we had nothing better. We took down the barrier and it started to control Ann. EDI began tracing the emissions. Meanwhile, James had shown up and got a little handsy with Ann. He was also smart enough to know when we had enough information and wanted to put the barrier back up. I told him to do it. No way I wanted Ann to become permanently comatose because we didn't know when to stop. Ann did say she got the sense that the Leviathan wanted to kill me. Good. Maybe that would get it in the war. EDI said she'd narrowed our search down to a few systems. That was good enough for me. We checked out a few star systems and finally on the uncharted world of 2181 Despoina EDI picked up a trace of the Leviathan emissions. It was an aquatic world, which made me uneasy. That meant whatever lived there was underwater. That's always been a place considered even more difficult to navigate than space. No choice but to go in anyway. Reaper or something else, this thing had the other Reapers afraid of it. That means we needed its help. Cortez managed to find a floating dock of some sort and the wreckage of multiple ships. If I had to guess, the Leviathan made sure they could not leave and potentially compromise its existence. Took Kaidan and an oddball choice, Javik. Maybe he knew something we didn't from 50,000 years ago. Cortez took us in but said the probe we'd sent was way underneath the ocean's surface. He also said the shuttle was capable of going there. At least that was true until a pulse hit us and knocked out the shuttle's engines. It's fortunate that Cortez was suck a good pilot that he was able to crash land us on one of those floating structures. We looked out at the wreckage. None of us recognized the ships, meaning they were very old. Not sure anything could survive past a full cycle but that doesn't mean there weren't other races out there that didn't survive into the present. Given that this was an uncharted world, that seemed quite likely. We did get a good idea of what downed all these ships, including our shuttle. Also, Javik pointed out that the remains we'd found were old enough that they no longer smelled. That meant it wasn't recent. Datapads I found all over told the story of a ship that had crashed. It even said when they attempted to throw an artifact into the ocean that the others attacked. Clearly indoctrination by the Leviathan. Found a thing called a Triton which had been mentioned in the logs. It had neither Cerberus nor Alliance colors so who knew what race created it. Could its remains have been the basis for the Atlas? In any case, these thing was too damaged to be of use. Problem came when we saw a Reaper drop down from the sky. It must have been following our progress and traced us here. We had to defend the shuttle while Cortez attempted repairs. It was the standard enemies: husks, cannibals, brutes and marauders. Happy there were no banshees. Cortez did get the shuttle airborne but then another pulse hit him. No chance of a Normandy pickup, either, since it would suffer the same fate. What Cortez had noticed was a mech the was safely stored away that was equipped for diving. I wasn't liking how this sounded. Know who else didn't like it? My boyfriend. In any case, I had to go. There was no way around getting home without confronting Leviathan. I dropped into the ocean and fell far, even losing communications with Cortez. I felt like I'd gone deeper than any human before, at least on this world. Had to admit there were some interesting things living down here. Those luminescent jellyfish looked like they'd be a perfect fit for my aquarium but a bit larger than the ones I already had. Had to continue following the probe's signal. It was still far below me. I was more than 3000 meters deep. Shut down all non-critical systems because I had no idea how much power I'd need to return to the surface. That's when I came face to face with the Leviathan. They weren't Reapers, that's for sure, but you could see their basic design was the same. If they were powerful enough to kill the Reapers was it possible that they created them? How old would that make them? I spoke to it. It wasn't happy I was there. When I mentioned I thought it was a Reaper it said they were only echoes and that they had existed long before them. They also said the Reapers were trying to kill them, which I already guessed. Then it took me into its mind, or went into mine. It wanted to enslave me, make me its serve it. I told it I had done what no one else ever had but it said it wasn't enough. That was why I needed them. It also said the Reapers feared me, combining the feats of my sister and myself, as though we were one, sighting the destruction of Sovereign and the defeat of the Collectors as the reason. None had ever before done that. It gave me a bit of history. Before the Reapers the Leviathan had existed, dominating and caring for their thralls. At least until they created synthetic beings that wiped them out. It said "Tribute does not flow from a dead race". I found that chilling to think that they only cared about what they could get rather than these beings themselves. To solve the problem they created a powerful AI to come up with a solution. It studied many races and said it came up with a solution. That's when it turned on them, harvesting at least some of the Leviathan, and created the first Reaper, Harbinger. That explained why the Reapers looked like the Leviathan. Then the Reapers started harvesting the most powerful races in cycles of 50,000 years, allowing the lesser races to survive to be harvested later. From each cycle came a new Reaper. Given the numbers of them we'd seen they've been doing this for a very long time. Eventually they created the mass relays and the Citadel to speed up the process and make sure the higher races built their civilizations around them. That made it easier to find us. It also said that the Reapers existed for one purpose, which was to save organic life. It harvested until it found the solution but had not yet done so, assuming that was even possible. It also used thrall races to remove any traces of their existence and used the artifacts to watch developments from the safety of this planet. It had also seen the Crucible built before but never completed so it couldn't say what the outcome might be. I pointed out that the Reapers now knew where they were and there would be no hiding and that they would never stop looking for them. They said they'd fight, but not for "lesser races". Instead, it was for survival. Then a saw a couple more rise up from the depths. I fired my jets and rocketed toward the surface. When I got there, I watched brute fight against brute. The shuttle was also now able to flight. Problem came when a Reaper came flying down to intercept us. Then there was a pulse and knocked that thing right out of the sky to join the other dead ships. Kaidan told me to never do that again, by which I assumed he meant go where he couldn't follow. I wish I could make that promise but I didn't know what I'd have to do.

Going to cure the genophage now....
When talking to Anderson about progress so far, I picked the lower right option of "Politics is a pain" and got a fun banter between the two of them since I'd picked Anderson to be Councilor in ME1. Paraphrase below.
Shepard: I don't know how you deal with it [politics] Anderson: Hey, you picked me for the position Shepard: Yeah, sorry about that
Payback is a bitch.

Found this krogan art during the Turian Platoon mission. At first I was confused why it would be there, then I remembered where I was!

Completed a few missions I have almost always saved for after the coup. This time I wanted to clear the entire map before going back to the Citadel so I hit Cerberus on Noveria with Garrus and James, then met up with Aralakh Company past the rachni relay. Brought Javik with me so he could meet Grunt in the flesh. Saved the queen, again, and Grunt made it out alive too.
All systems at 100% except for one, where I left the big fuel reserves for when I'm desperate.
Next stop: the Citadel

So the last 3 or 4 days have been busy with inconvenient RL issues which has meant little game time. Anyway so yesterday William finished The Citadel DLC where he got shot at ina flash restaurant, fell through a fish tank and then down the side of a building, got shot at some more and finally got some help from Tali and Wrex who performed a superlative Krogan air drop onto a shuttle full of merc's. The rest of the team joined William back at his newly acquired apartment (thanks Anderson ) where with Staff Analyst Brooks they began to investigate what had happened and why. Anyway to cut a long story short - The End. Too short, OK William investigated the gun they found and traced it back to a casino owner. William and Tali went to a black tie function with Brooks and they eventually found the maker dead but briefly chatted to the person behind it all. Next clue led William to the archives and taking the whole team discovered William had a clone who was trying to steal his identity. After some epic gun fights and then getting locked in an archive William headed to the docks to prevent the clone stealing The Normandy. After breaking onto the ship using Traynor's toothbrush, there was more gun fighting and William was more motivated than ever after finding his space hamster on the rubbish pile. So more combat (the final battle annoys me, I hate having to kill enemies multiple times. Anyway after a tense battle with the Clone, Brooks (the dirty traitor) and more merc's Shepard got left hanging with the clone, who he then tried to save but the clone decided to take the express elevator into a building. After that they went back to William's apartment and partied hard!!!!! "Woke up, got out of bed dragged a comb across my head" - woops didn't mean to break into song. So William roused the revellers and they headed back to work. Hackett organised the fleets and The Normandy led them into an attack on The Cerberus base. William, EDI and Kaidan fought their way through lotsa Cerberus troops and found themselves at the end in TIM's office where he had the very great pleasure of kicking Kai Leng's ass. The Prothean VI told William what the catalyst was and where it had gone - EARTH. Hopefully today I will finish ME3, been a good ride and have enjoyed playing it again but I am itching to play MEA again. Some pic's:

Got quite a bit done today.
Helped Aria take back Omega. Let her kill Petrovsky but didn't overload the reactor. The more times I play this, the more Nyreen annoys me. Sorry, Kandros.
After getting back, I did a few meet-ups on the Citadel - chat with Liara, lunch with Kaidan, and bottle shooting and making out with Garrus.
Before leaving again, I visited Bryson's lab and then went hunting for Garneau. Found a creepy mining colony instead, then raced back to the Citadel to shield the suspect artifact in Bryson's lab. Found a location on his daughter and rescued her from a shitload of Reapers. Since I didn't play LotSB in ME2, I didn't get Liara's line about being jealous and concerned if I help Ann Bryson take out the Shadow Broker. Sent Ann back to the Citadel, then headed to the Far Rim to meet the quarians.
Rescued Legion, punched Han'Gerrel, rescued Zaal'Korris, and entered the geth consensus to disable some fighters.
Next up will be the Reaper base.

I actually prefer to have her not kill him and leave the decision to me. Because then I kill him when he starts talking about how being an Alliance prisoner means he'll be treated well. Not on my watch. Ah, that wonderful moment when Kai Lame finally replaces his plot armor with normal armor Always a good thing. Jamming my omni-blade into his gut is a great feeling.

Owen Shepard: Headed down to Thessia. It's under heavy Reaper attack. Now they want help while they sat on their asses for so long. Admittedly, that was their shit poor Councilor. The asari here certainly don't deserve what's happening to them. It took some convincing to get them to hold the line. All they knew is my mission was classified but they weren't even certain they still had a chain of command. It was Liara who made the difference, saying that without the artifact we were seeking that their race would go extinct. All of our races, really. The worst, though, was that all the asari present were probably going to die helping us get to the Temple of Athame. Liara was worked up about the banshees. She forgets we've been seeing humans turned to husks now for years. No one's ever offered any sympathy for that. Still, this was bad. So many of these commandos died to make a path for us to their temple. The fact that we were directly attacked by three harvesters showed just how badly the Reapers wanted the asari dead. Finally got into the temple once Liara had overridden the military grade encryption on the barrier around it. That meant something seriously important was there. I'd heard earlier that all contact with the scientists here had been lost. We soon figured out why. The only real question was who did it. Not the Reapers. We started looking around. Found an ancient rendition of the asari goddess, Athame. Looked exactly like a Prothean and I suddenly wished I'd brought Javik along. Something called the Athame Codex said the asari were given biotics in exchange for their worship. Another rendering of one of Atheme's following looked like a Prothean. It seemed obvious that it was the Protheans had been to Thessia in ancient times. Liara didn't like hearing that. Finally came up to a large statue of Athame. Looked more asari than Prothean. Thing was, I sensed a Prothean beacon there. That would explain why the asari were so technologically superior to other races. We eventually cracked the code to accessing the beacon but what showed up with a Prothean VI. It was about to return to the beacon, assuming this cycle was at its end. I convinced it to stay. It did tell us how a separate group arose saying that they should dominate the Reapers rather than kill them. They were later discovered to be indoctrinated. Sounds exactly like Cerberus. The VI fled, saying indoctrinated presence was there. Kai Leng then appeared with a holosphere. From it came an image of TIM, spouting about dominating the Reapers. He also made the same tired arguments as Saren, saying that if the Reapers had wanted to destroy us they would have but instead mean to subjugate us. That's the goal of the Leviathan, not these things. The worst was when TIM actually said "the Reapers have it right". I pointed out that he was speaking like the indoctrinated. I'd also heard this exact argument from Dr. Kenson right before I had to use an asteroid to destroy the relay there, taking the Bahak system with it. It only delayed the inevitable. TIM set Kai Leng on us. He's not as tough as he thinks but had a gunship to cover him anytime he was injured. Then the gunship targeted the supports, causing us to fall, nearly to our deaths. While we were down, Kai Leng pulled the same trick as Dr. Core and absorbed all the information in the beacon, including the VI. Then he fled. Worse, I heard the asari commandos die over the comm channel. They deserved better. Once back on the Normandy I spoke with the asari Councilor and told her what had happened. I didn't bother throwing accusations at her. Her people were about to die. Watching Thessia fall...the most powerful and advanced race in the galaxy...that was hard to watch. But we had to move. EDI said the Reapers numbers were too great for us to remain in the system. I wanted to track Cerberus down but only one person had any idea: Traynor. She followed the course of the shuttle and watched when its signal disappeared. It was actively being blocked. The system was where Sanctuary existed, the supposed safe haven from the Reapers. That meant anyone who went there was in danger or dead. Sanctuary was actually located on Horizon, which made it more curious. I found Liara in an argument with Javik. He confirmed the truth about Athame being a Prothean. She was angry not because of her history being wrong but because the Protheans didn't have all the answers. He told her they believed the asari would do what they hadn't been able to and so guided them at times. Javik also said that so long as one asari existed that there was hope. It was surprising, though I'm not sure even he believed it. But it made Liara feel better. Also stopped Cerberus from gaining access to Alliance encryption codes. Next up: Horizon, part 2
