I did one bronze MP mission. Got 4% additional galaxy readiness in Alliance space. Also, created Jeff Shepard for ME3 and used Genesis 2. Results: Wrex killed, Ashley killed, Liara romanced, Council killed, Udina chosen for Council. Acquired minimum squad for suicide mission, didn't resolve any conflicts, didn't maintain friendships/romance, turned over Collector base to TIM. Survivors were Miranda, Jacob and Garrus. RIP Tali. (Taking all my will not to Gibbed Tali back to life.) That sounds like it was pretty much a renegade run for ME 1/2. I'm kick starting ME3 with Shepard having had 6 months on Earth contemplating his decisions and henceforth going all Paragon. In the heat of the moment his other decisions seemed good but with all that time to himself he's started to regret some of the things he did and didn't do. So...we'll see how this works out without Jack, Tali, Samara, Grunt, Wrex, Thane, Legion, Zaeed and Kasumi. Oh, and this dude has blue head and facial hair.
EDIT: I was weak. I decided to use Gibbed to trade Miranda and Jacob for Tali and Jack. I felt like it was a better fit. Maybe someday I'll be like Mike and gleefully let any teammate die but I'm not there yet. If anyone has to go it's the Cerberus people. Anyway, now on Mars with Kaidan and Liara. Presumably if I get a doctor on the ship it will be Dr. Michel since Chakwas probably died when abducted by the Collectors.

Jeff Shepard had been stripped of his rank and was being held indefinitely by the Alliance in Vancouver. Over the past 6 months he had time to ponder some of his decisions. He got the job done but lost lots of people. Ashley, Wrex, Mordin, Jacob, Miranda, Grunt and Thane. Heck, he'd even let the Council die. Couldn't help wondering if he'd given a damn about the people under his command if more of them couldn't have survived. Then the Reapers struck, killing most of the people in charge. Admiral Anderson and I ran while Kaidan Alenko and James Vega went to retrieve the Normandy. We made it to the ship but Anderson opted to stay behind. He gave me a battlefield reinstatement and put me in command of the Normandy SR2. Odd, considering Alenko now outranked me as a major but I got it. I did the things others couldn't when it came to Reapers and I was the best choice. Anderson ordered me to the Citadel to get help from the Council.
En route, Admiral Hackett contacted me and redirected me to the Mars Prothean Archives. We encountered Cerberus, who was saw executing Alliance soldiers. Inside was Dr. Liara T'Soni, whom I hadn't really seen since my "death" when the Collectors destroyed the Normandy SR1. She, Kaidan and I headed into the Archives while James was ready with the shuttle in case we needed a quick evac. Liara told us we were looking for plans for a Prothean device that could destroy the Reapers. We made our way across the base only to find that the Illusive Man had an agent there who was downloading and erasing the plans. We gave chase. She almost got away until James rammed his shuttle right into that of the Cerberus shuttle containing Dr. Eva Core. That shuttle crashed but it turned out Dr. Core was a mech. It attacked Kaidan and nearly killed him. I wasn't about to lose anymore people and quickly got him on board the Normandy as the Reapers approached.
We went to the Citadel where Kaidan was rushed to Huerta. Commander Bailey also told me the Council wanted to speak to me. I decided to go see Kaidan. Ran into his doctor, Dr. Michel. Tried to convince her to join the SR2 but she has to think about it. Kaidan is unconscious and I gave him a speech, telling him that both the war and I need him. Hope some part of him heard me and comes back.

Final letter from Shepard to Hannah. I haven't forgotten about it, but since I'm getting ready to start my male Shep, I should probably do this part. Please remember that this is all headcanon and not a source for a debate. Some ideas, such as where Shepard breathes in the rubble, are kinda-sorta up in the the air. So yeah, this is just good ol' fanfiction and headcanon. If I want a serious debate, I know where to go for that. I want to keep things lighthearted in here. So away we go! This takes place about 2 months after the end of ME3 To: Hannnah Shepard Date: February 3rd, 2187 Time: 1600 hours Dear Mom,
I'm sorry I didn't write you sooner. The doctors only let me have access to a computer two days ago. They were afraid that I would try to go back to work. Truthfully, I wouldn't be up for it anyhow.
The weather here was really bad. The ash in the atmosphere partially blocked out the sun. Scientists are saying the next 5 years or so are going to be colder on a global scale. When you hear about snow in Rio, you know the climate is gonna be screwy.
I"m sure you've heard the rumors, but I'll give it to you straight. A small scouting team found me in the rubble at the bottom of the Citadel beam. I was barely breathing and unresponsive. After the Crucible fired, folks wasted no time salavaging hosptial equipment and supplies. Wonder of wonders, they found a 4 story building just outside of London that was largely intact with a gasoline generator. They converted it into a makeshift hosptial. That apparently where I was at for the first two weeks. They transferred me here to Vancouver about 4 weeks ago.
I came out of my coma two weeks ago. I couldn't speak above a bare whisper. My arms felt like lead and my legs felt like useless noodles. I was able to slightly turn my head. Kaidan was sitting in the chair next to me after nodding off. I whispered his name and he looked up. He smiled at me, kissed my cheek and ran to get a nurse. I was so tired, despite being in a coma. The doctors explained to me that it was a "healing coma" and it wasn't the same as real sleep. I think I spent the better part of two days sleeping soundly.
This has been some of the hardest excerise I've ever had. I went through Boot Camp with little more than a grimace. I blew up a Reaper with a heavy weapon. I've lept and bounced across a Collector ship without feeling the slightest bit of discomfort. Now I have to relearn how to walk to the bathroom. Imagine my shock when I tried to stand up (against doctor's orders) and nearly fell over trying to support my own weight. So every day is streteches, physical therapy and walking with a cane. When I got to the bathroom on my own, it felt almost as good as the day I got my N7 commendation. Each day I slowly walk down the main hallway with my cane and Kaidan supporting me. It's getting easier.
The Great Commander Shepard...had to use a bedpan for a week. Think they'll put that in my biography?
As far as what happened up there...I've gone over it in my head countless times since I woke up. No matter what, it never makes sense. Like a dream or a nightmare. I'll tell you what I know for certain:
1) I was told I got an indirect hit from Harbinger. Even though my armor was blasted off, I was still alive. The doctors think that the implants kept me safe somehow.
2) I made it into the Keeper tunnels. There was...bodies. So many bodies. The Reapers were using the beam to take the bodies of the dead up there to be processed. The Keepers were sorting through the bodies, getting ready to send them into the protein vats.
3) Anderson was there. No one knows how he got there, although I was happy to hear a friendly voice.
4) Then I saw him and the Illusive Man. Maybe he was in the Citadel and warned the Reapers from there? Only thing I can figure. He did...something with dark energy and controlled me. Made me shoot Anderson. He was going to shoot Anderson himself but his control slipped and I shot him instead.
5) I talked to Anderson, trying to keep him alive and to stay with me. After he died, I thought the work was done. It wasn't. Hackett told me that the Crucible didn't fire.
From here Mom it becomes fuzzy and surreal. The thing controlling the Reapers was an AI out of all things. It used a hologram of the little boy I mentioned (the one with the model ships.) He talked about not judging fire if it burns and all of this other nonsense. He said that organics will always fight synthetics and that mutal destruction was inevitable. It talked about a lot of things. At the end, I was given three choices.
I could lose my physical form and become the new AI of the Reapers. The Illusive Man was right. That was tempting. To use something so destructive as a force for good as I see fit. However, this Reaper AI was likely bliions of years old. Who's to say I wouldn't become just like it?
I could die and create true synthesis. Somehow merging my DNA with the galaxy and merging synthetic and organic life. That was also tempting, since I cared a lot for EDI and the geth. Yet, images in my mind of Husks suddenly remembering who they were haunted me. Of Brutes, which are the most unholy mix of krogan and turian. They don't have the same acid chain. Plus, the AI seemed a little too eager for what he called a "new solution."
I choose to destroy the Reapers. The AI warned me that all synthetics will be targeted and some of our technology would be damaged. I immediately thought of EDI and the geth. I was crying in the inside, but on the outside I only had the energy to shed a single tear. I remember standing there, taking a moment to look outside. I watched the battle of the fleets and the Reapers. I thought about the future. A future with no Reapers, yet with the chance to build synthetics anew.
Was the cost too high? I don't know. Hell, I don't think I'll ever know. I know that it hurt to make that decision. I never wanted that. I never wanted my decisions in Citadel Control to possibly kill millions of geth as well as my friend. They call me a hero, but I look at the picutre from EDI's memorial service and I sure don't feel like one.
For now, I'm watching more of my efforts come to pass. Wrex is leading a team of krogan to clear out some of rubble. He said, "Krogan know how to move rubble. Just don't ask us to rebuild anything. We still need practice at that." James is apart of the same team. "I'm not good at medicine and I'm not much of a carpenter. But if I can give families peace of mind, then I'm doing something right."
Kaidan is with Wrex as well, leading his own small team of scouts. They are still turning up some survivors, although he mostly writes condolence letters to families.
Tali is here helping salavage whatever metal and other materials she can. She's been amazing at getting power and water set back up. The rest of her race, along with the salarians, the asari and most of the Alliance are working on the final repairs to the Sol Relay.
Garrus saw the writing on the wall right away. He's working alongside the military and law enforcement to control lootings. So far there hasn't been many but when the danger feels completely gone, people will get desperate and start thinking about themselves. He's been also working on securing any valuable goods such as a dextro food, blankets and medical supplies.
Liara has been using her few remaining contacts as an information broker to get some help. She's done a good job too. There are still some of her contacts on ships in the large fleet that she talks to. I don't know how she does it, but she's dedicated. Everyday there is more people we need here. Everyone from doctors and mechanics to baby sitters. Now that the war is over, civilians can come and help.
Joker came by after EDI's memorial service. I was too weak to go, but I let him know that I missed her too. I haven't told him about the AI. I mean, what am I supposed to say? "Sorry, but I was bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound and had to kill your first girlfriend. Thems the breaks kid."?
Hackett sent me a message that he'd like to fully debrief me in person once I was feeling better. Boy, he's in for a doozy of a tale. Things got so weird after his last message that it doesn't seem real.
I'll never know if I truly did the right thing or not. I had to play God with a machine. I know that I'll miss my "little sister." I know that the quarians had come to trust the geth only for it to be taken away with just a few bullets. I'll never know if that buggy AI was correct or if they believed it to justify it's own existence. I suppose that's for the historians and philosophers to figure out in the future.
For now though, I suppose it's behind me. The sun is shining and there is half-melted snow on the ground. I hear more laughter and less tears now. Folks are happily chatting about rebuilding a new future. I'm trying to rebuild myself. I made it one more meter down the hallway today.
Kaidan's bringing me a bowl of his steak and rice soup. The meat is very well braised, so it's easy to swallow. It's sure as hell beats hospital food. He's going to take me to his parents place when I'm better. It somehow survived the destruction and he said he misses having some quiet. For the first time, I do too.
He might propose soon. Or at least he keeps hinting at it. Since I'm considering retiring from active duty, settling down on Earth with Kaidan in a nice place has it's appeal. No kids though. I don't think that I'd make a good mother. Kaidan won't share his feelings, except to tell me that we have time to deal with that later.
I'm alive and healing. I've got some new scars, but nothing more than I had on the SR1. I'll write you again soon. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see you soon, since I know that Hackett's kept you busy after the war. I love you and I'm relieved that you're alive. It's been hard and rough. So many people died. In the end, we triumphed over the Reapers. We made it.

Tried to start ME2 again, with Purgatory first. I kind of like this now. I remember when I first played, I didn't expect the Warden to screw me over so quickly. So this makes a little sense, if you don't know the Blue Suns yet (via Garrus' mission or something). And I always liked the idea of running to Anderson asap. Purgatory is on the way.
I also made Udina councilor, which I like more now that I think about it. Anderson doesn't look so damn incompetent this way.

Alex Shepard Age: 30 Background: Colonist/Sole Survivor i.e. Most miserable bastard in the galaxy. If I wanted to do that, I would have taken him Earthborn/Ruthless background. Angry and depressed! My first Shep was a Earthborn/War Hero. So...emo? I've been playing this guy for just a few minutes (talking to Jenkins as we speak,) but this guy is going to be a paragade. I'll still probably pick the major decisions mostly towards Paragon, but I think someone is going to be bitching at the Council and at Udina a lot. He's gonna have a bit of an attitude problem, but is gonna be a good guy at the end of the day.

I'm still chuckling a bit over here. I've gotten into his mindset. He's paragon in the sense of being loyal and supportive to your allies, talking people down instead of a fight and many of the choices I made the last run will be the same. He's really into trying to find survivors.
However, he has zero patience for the crazy, the whiny and the weak. Well, except for someone like Tabitha, but he hasn't gotten that far yet. Dr. Manuel found out the hard way. The crazy doctor on Eden Prime? Yeah, he shut him up with his fist. Kaidan chewed him out for it. I took the paragon option explaining to the doc that it was safer this way.
+9 Renegade in the first few minutes of ME1. That's around a 1/3rd of the enitre Renegade points that Nat got in the whole ME1 run. This is going to be amusing.

End of humanity, my ass. On a sidenote, there's a Manuel Cayce who you get the Hammerhead from in ME2.. and he sounds like this guy. I always wonder if it's the same dude.

Fun fact! I've never played a biotic of any sort before in ME. In fact, I've only played soldiers and inflitrators. I've never played a Paragade in ME1 and I've never played a male Shep.
It's been a little over two years since I first played. 'Bout damn time I got around to playing outside of my comfort zone.

Jeff Shepard: After a little more persuasion, I convinced Dr. Michel that she could save billions (but more like trillions, at least) rather than hundreds by joining me on the Normandy. She acknowledged the excellent staff at Huerta would mean she was leaving the patients in good hands. Went to the Council. They have a level of distrust in me because I sacrificed the prior Council. However, even they had to acknowledge that my decisions saved the Citadel from being taken over by Sovereign - who would have opened up a path for the Reapers to come 3 years ago. Even so, they refused to help Earth. The turian councilor did tell me my Spectre status was being reinstated. He also told me I could go around the Council decision by appealing directly to the leadership, in this case the turian primarch. If I saved him he'd be grateful and would offer turian support. All I'd have to do is rescue him from Reaper-infested territory.
Had a chat with Khalisah al-Jilani. We have a contentious relationship in the past but I was determined not to engage in my old behavior. I didn't punch her this time. In fact, I convinced her to keep up her work and make the politicians remember Earth. With that in mind when reporter Diana Allers asked to be placed on the Normandy to give reports that could "win the war" I immediately said yes.
I had a nightmare. A boy I was unable to save on Earth was in it. I couldn't save him and he went up in flames. Then Liara knocked on my door. She gave me a pep talk but things are bleak right now. This was interrupted by Communications Specialist Samantha Traynor, who was there to introduce herself to me. I wasn't about to send her away but EDI suggested she would be very useful. Good to know. Talked to Hackett and told him my plan to rescue the primarch to gain support. He approved.
Made the rounds of the ship. Got to learn about the crew, something I rarely took the time to do in the past. Sure, I flirted with Ash and was interested in more, but she died on Virmire. I had also spent time getting to know Kaidan and Liara but had nothing to do with them while I was with Cerberus. Now, I wanted to know them all, help them be at their best. Another funny thing. Couldn't take the time for my crew in the past but did find time for my space hamster - which was running loose on the ship for six months until I caught him, and for the model ships that I've been finding all over. Priorities were definitely skewed.
Went to a Cerberus Lab on Sanctum. Recovered some very bizarre looking Reaper tech. Never saw anything like it. Also found a medi-gel formula that only works on hanar. Very useful during a war.
The view of Palaven was horrific. Reapers everywhere. It was just like Earth and this was the strongest military in the galaxy. Spoke to General Corinthius. He told me the primarch was dead. However, Liara said lines of succession were very clear among the turian so it might not be all that difficult to find the new primarch. However, they couldn't get in touch with command because their satellite link was broken. Liara, James and I took care of that situation. When we returned to Corinthus, Garrus showed up. He had been with the new primarch earlier in the day and was willing to lead us in his direction. Curiously, he outranked the general. A situation arose where the Normandy was acting crazy so I sent Liara back to investigate while James, Garrus and I found the new primarch. There were lots of husks, as well as some new things. Marauders, which looked a lot like turians, were in evidence - telling me that the Reapers were no longer just turning humans but had branched out to other races. Then there was a brute, some kind of mix between turian and krogan. That was one mean son of a bitch. We eventually found Primarch Victus and convinced him to leave Menae. Garrus came along. It was damn good to have someone with me who had my back, who had been there since before Sovereign and was with me through it all. When I told Victus what I needed he was willing, but had conditions. He wanted the krogan to assist, to take the heat off of Palaven. That was not going to be easy.
Not long after returning to the Normandy, the lights momentarily dimmed. Joker and Traynor both told me it was centered around the AI core on Deck 3. I headed in there. When I asked EDI to talk to me, a figure emerged from the smoke in the room. It was the body of Dr. Core, but EDI was very clearly in control of it. EDI had taken over the systems of Core's body, thought existed primarily in the Normandy. Looked like I had someone new to take on missions.
Got a message from Kaidan. He's conscious and wants me to visit. I did and I think we cleared the air. That bottle of whiskey I gave him probably helped.

Finished up my first half of recruiting. Mordin was last. He must be some kind of super-genius, because he came up for the Seeker swarm defenses right away. Funny bringing Jack there.. I hadn't heard some of these lines. She hoped the Vorcha took out the Blue Suns.

I didn't play Mass Effect specifically, though when I was playing Minecraft (Xbox 360) with my 10 year old sister, we used the Mass Effect texture pack. Some of my favourite features:
The armour was re-skinned to look like various ME armour sets (Alliance N7 armour for leather, Cerberus armour for chain mail, Eclipse for gold, and Blue Suns for diamond).
Animals were changed e.g: Wolves became Varren, Zombies became husks, Endermen were Collectors, pigs were Elcor, and my favourite, K(r)eepers.
The soundtrack was replaced with the ME3 music, though unfortunately there was no ME1 or 2 music.
It was pretty interesting.

A lot has happened to our Jen, she's rescued some Cerberus scientists (many of whom were familiar from somewhere, I HC that actually the whole cast of DA2 is on Gellix somewhere, i swear one of the lesser known scientists sounds just like Varric, there's a ditzy geneticist called Meryl, a Dr Fenris, maybe Dr Anders and Dr Aveline, I'm not sure what Isabela does but i'm willing to bet she's in procurement.), rescued Grunt (i have a soft spot for the rachni queen so she made it, again) and Samara's daughter Falare. Jen finally decided on who she wanted to date too, and picked Garrus. I'm saving Kaidan for a future ManShep. Jen's now embarked on the Leviathan missions, before tackling the quarian-geth situation.

I was going to post some humorous observations about my Sheploo run, but I just did Remember Me. I've done it before, but not since my second run back in 2014. I went with the Paragon route. It threw off my Paragade alignment (trying to get Renegade up) by +18 points, but I don't care. I don't have it my heart to be mean to Talitha. The writing is so good. The voice acting is top notch too. Excuse me, I think I have something in my eye. Be back later.

Ugh, it's annoying what a good quest order is for ME2.. I keep switching up. I just finished Horizon and it kind of doesn't make sense that you'd been to the Citadel (let alone talked to Khalisah or Anderson), since TIM apparently lets it "slip" that you're alive and Ash is partly on Horizon to spy. Maybe I should post this in the "doesn't make sense", but I keep replaying this. Open ended quest design is so overrated

Random observations before I leave town for the weekend:
--Ashley is really flirty early on in the Citadel. Most of her environemental comments were trying to flirt with Sheploo. Thankfully I didn't response to her flirts in conversation and she's gone back to calling Shepard "Skipper."
--I watched the attract trailer for ME1 for the very first time. Even the trailer ships Ash and Sheploo.
--Paragade is fun. My Shep is a good guy, but has a serious attitude problem sometimes.
--I gained more respect for Hackett as a character. I did the Toombs quest and I choose to have Shep shoot the scientist. I had never done that before, so I was expecting Shep to get his ass chewed out. Instead, Hackett hoped the act gave Shep closure. While this Shep talked back a bit to Hackett before, that is going to stop.
--Shep yelled at the hanar preacher by telling the jelly that it's making its whole race look like zealots. +9 Renegade. I get that much from killing Rana later. I got as much from shooting the Cerberus scientist. WTF?
--Kaidan mentions his L2 headaches to a Sheploo, but never did with a FemShep. I don't know if that's related to gender or class. Maybe another biotic could understand better?
--I can't get a biotic amp to drop to save my Shep's life. He's gotten 1 upgrade, from the Toombs quest. I haven't found any for sale either and I go back to the Citadel every handful of quests or so. Same with omni-tools. It's like the heavy armor curse from my last run all over again. Nat could get stuff like biotic amps and omni-tools all day long, but no heavy armor. Now the opposite is happening here.
--Aside from personal quests, the only people I've been taking with me is Tali and Ashley. Wrex is going to get his family armor and is going to be all set up for part 2 of Virmire.
--I didn't allow Garrus to shoot Dr. Saleon to teach Garrus a lesson. He seems like a young man in ME1 and a little too hotheaded for even my Shep.
