Well I last saved in the Lower parts of Citadel, my wife downloaded the Citadel DLC so now I find my male shep walking into a sushi bar. For some reason, a futuristic sushi bar, sushi is Japanese btw, has a stereotypical french host/waitor dude whose baling, to greet you. I find my Crippled Pilot in the back most table talking about margaritas only for some 90s Batman style thugs to enter with a 90s batman Joker-esque catch phrase. Now I am Shepard, John Shepard, secret Alliance Agent/Spectre. Running around with my suppressed pistol of doom!

Karen Shepard, Soldier (Shock Trooper), ME1 NG+: Normandy Shepard checked in the members of the crew to see how they were doing. Most didn't have much to say, but Wrex told a story from his mercenary days about an encounter with an asari commando named Aleena. Aleena was an old friend of his, but he'd been hired by a volus diplomat who wanted to "erase his past" by getting rid of her. The two fought on an old, abandoned space station, and Wrex thought he had her when the stations core went critical. Wrex escaped, but had assumed Aleena died in the explosion. She later messaged him to set tell him otherwise. Wrex used her survival as leverage to get a job as a bodyguard for the volus, who now feared Aleena would attempt to get revenge. The whole thing seemed to amuse him greatly, which Shepard supposed was typical of a krogan. Styx Theta Cluster - Altahe (Listening Post Theta) There were reports of trouble at a couple of Alliance listening posts in the Styx Theta Cluster. When the Normandy investigated, they found the source of the problem - rachni. Listening Post Theta on Altahe, was deserted - all Alliance personnel had been killed in rachni attacks. Logs at the listening post revealed a transmission from Lt Marie Durand of the Alliance 10th Frontier Division at Listening Post Alpha on nearby Nepmos - they were also under attack and were requesting assistance. Other logs gave the location of the source of the rachni infestation, a supply depot in the Argos Rho cluster.
Shepard, Tali, and Liara eliminated the rachni presence on Altahe, discovered some mineral deposits and salvage, and found one of Matriarch Dilinaga's writings in the wreckage of a crashed satellite. They returned to the Normandy, hoping there was still time to help Lt Durand's unit at Listening Post Alpha. Styx Theta Cluster - Nepmos (Listening Post Alpha) Shepard, Liara, and Tali landed on Nepmos and headed straight to Listening Post Alpha. The Alliance unit stationed there had suffered losses, but were still battling the rachni. As they approached in the Mako, Shepard noticed defense turrets were set up but not firing, they appeared to lack sufficient power. Shepard hooked the Mako up to the generator. The turrets could now fire thanks to the additional power from the Mako's cells.
Shepard and her team helped Lt Durand's troops fight off a few waves of rachni. During a lull in the fighting Lt Durand filled them in on the situation. The 14th Regiment had set up the listening post to monitor pirate activity in the cluster and try and find their staging base. A few days ago, the alien creatures came out of the ground and attacked them. They had been fighting for 26 hours straight, had suffered heavy losses, and were exhausted.
Shepard informed Durand that the aliens were rachni, and offered to take out their underground lair to relieve the pressure on her unit. With the listening post secure - for the time being - Shepard detached the Mako from the generator and set out to find the rachni hideout. In an underground mine, they encountered more rachni, including a couple of Brood Warriors with biotic abilities. It was a tough fight, but they prevailed, and appeared to have eliminated the last of the rachni in the Styx Theta cluster.
Shepard and her team did some exploring. They found an mining camp that had been attached by the rachni - it didn't look like any of the crew survived, which was unfortunate but not surprising. The body of one miner had a salarian League of One medallion, possibly discovered while digging. They also found some mineral deposits for the Alliance Geological Service, and some salvage from a crashed probe. Argos Rho Cluster - Depot Sigma-23 The supply depot that was the source of the rachni infestation was located in the Argos Rho cluster. The space station, as expected, was overrun by rachni, but Shepard, Liara, and Tali dealt with them without too much trouble.
They found a terminal with a series of log entries. It turns out this was another Cerberus operation, an attempt to enslave the rachni to use as an army. These rachni were supposed to be more stable, having been developed in proximity to “the master control unit”, presumably the queen, unlike the ones encountered on Noveria.
Cerberus detected pirates setting up in a nearby system and decided to test the rachni capabilities. Instead, the rachni outsmarted them, killed them all and escaped. Listening Post Theta was wiped out and Lt Durand and her people almost suffered the same fate. More lives lost thanks to Cerberus.
Shepard scuttled the depot and escaped. She hoped this was the last she ever saw of both Cerberus and the rachni.

I played a bit of ME 2 last night. I finished Mordin's mission, went to the Citadel, and started Kasumi's loyalty quest.
In one fight, I used charge, then beat a group of 6 guys nearby with melee. I was so surprised I managed to beat them so easily that I laughed.

So my assShep told Kelly to change her identity, she did, met up with her again, he yelled at her (he yells at everyone) and she killed herself. Goddammit, forgot this could happen. In other news, I finished the Citadel coup, got Ashley back, was able to talk her down. Brought her along with Liara to thaw out Javik, thought she'd say more. Lil disappointed, welp, now I know. At least I have Javik again, love him.

From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy: From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy, COmmander Abigail Shepard reporting, CO SSV Normandy, June 19, 2185
So, dealt with Miranda's sister. Turns out she was not entirely honest with me. Not that I entirely mind however. I do understand and it was truthful, from a certain point of view. Regardless. It was dealt with. And Niket betrayed her, but I could not have her kill him, he died anyways.
I also encouraged her to go see her family. To introduce herself to Oriana. Not having a family I know how important it is. For the both of them. To at least know each other. Miranda needs this to grow. To get over being so bitter. The human connection I found in Kaidan and my last squad, she needs. I hope she makes it.
Now off to give the Shadow Broker Intel to Liara... Which I actually done. but...well bit of a fun story with that. After I got done with LOTSB I accidentally hit the load button, instead of the save button...ten hours ago. So then I hit the button on the load for the auto save which saved just after the boss fight...but it seems I got corrupted. Because it loaded in the middle of...well darkness. Only my Shepard, which was decked out in her full breather armor...in the middle of blackness, and she was even blurred out. When I tried moving, it fractured. So I tried my third save. And...well...its ok. Just back to when Shepard borded the Shadow Broker Ship. So I just have to hope the problem does not repeat itself in the future. And the audio goes back to being normal.

Loaded up ME3 and ran Michael through the two missions on Rannoch before the big one. Not much of interest happened, but the scene with Admiral Koris if you pick the crew instead is really cool. And you can snipe people when they are manning a turret. Which is quite nice.

Mark Shepard:
Derelict Reaper (continued): More husk attacks. Scions, too. Lots and lots of them. [Note: I'm really grateful to the Gibbed Save Game Editor that allowed me to move Shepard's location back just enough to get me unstuck from some crap on the ground. This is a drawback about Vanguard's I had forgotten.] Finally, when they were all down, I got my hands on the Reaper IFF.
When I opened the next door there was a barrier blocking me from moving forward. That geth was doing something at a terminal, occasionally stopping to shoot some husks. After a few moments, the barrier dropped. It was necessary to destroy the Reaper Core to get out. Theoretically, it would take a lot of shots. Or, as it turned out, one shot from the Cain did the trick. Saved a lot of fight time.
The geth who had helped us was down and I opted to grab it. I had heard that geth are never taken intact so this was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. The fact that it saved my ass a couple of times was also a good enough reason to take it. Not that I trusted it but maybe we could figure out how the geth are connected to the Reapers.
Normandy SR-2: Discussion with Jacob and Miranda about the geth I brought on board. I get it with Miranda. She's XO and I suppose has a right to make suggestions. Jacob, though? Let's be honest. He was not given command of this vessel or this mission. I was and there's a reason for it. I'm not saying I don't make mistakes but he wants to space the thing even though it saved my life and was wearing a piece of my armor. There's something unusual about it and I needed to learn what that was. Turning it over to Cerberus also wasn't a great option since it probably wouldn't get me the answers I need.
Got a report saying the Illusive Man wanted me to know he'd shut down the Subject Zero project before the riot broke out. Doesn't matter. He was still buying biotic children and experimenting on them to create stronger biotics. Unforgivable. I'm sure Jack would agree.
I went down to the AI core where the geth had been stashed. EDI erected a shield and additional firewalls in preparation for a potential attack. Then I turned it on. It said it (meaning the geth) had never met me even though I've killed many geth. It said it monitors organics and general but me as well. It also mentioned "heretics" that went to the Reapers. Apparently there's a schism of some sort between them. It's certainly implying that there are two factions of geth and that its faction has never encountered me before. It said that its faction opposes the heretics and the Reapers. Since I do as well it thought cooperation would be beneficial. I decided to let it join us and dropped the field.
I wanted to know its name but it said they didn't have those sorts of things. Given that the unit in front of my contained over 1,000 programs, EDI suggested Legion based on a Biblical reference ("My name is Legion for we are many.") Of course, Legion in the Bible are demons so make of that name what you will.

While playing a full renegade Male Shepard.... I accidentally damned the Quarians to doom so I restarted the mission. I ignored all combat but for moments where I needed to clear two or three Geth from the control consoles I was activating. I love having a Jedi force field for biotic shield lol I can simply ignore Cerberus machine gun drones for about thirty seconds before I need to pay attention and disable them.
Back on track! I damned the Geth to doom and welcomed the Quarians into the war... With Javik standing there nodding his head approvingly.
I returned to Citadel to ask Liara to date me; I went shooting with Garrus and beat him; I further encouraged Joker to deepen his bonds with the Sex Robot EDI; I had an amazing party at the Shore Leave Pad; I starred at Miranda's butt while she droned on about something needing Alliance funds to which I absently agreed to help her with...
I returned to Normandy to drink the Doctor under the table... again; Cuz you know,Shepard is a raging alcoholic who someone doesn't have kidney failure yet... maybe Cerberus gae him kidney cybernetics at some point during the Collector war. I then tried my best to ignore Tali's advances since I am romancing Liara although I am still curious as to what her face looks like...
Then I was reminded of one thing I have to look forward to when the final mission rolls around: STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVE!... you okay?

From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy: Commander Abigail Shepard's Personal Log, CO SSV Normandy SR-2 reporting, June 26 2185.
So I finally got around to helping Liara T'soni with her little problem. With the Shadow Broker. Apparently he has a friend of hers in custody, and the information indicates where the Broker's base may be...along with her friend.
Then we had to deal with a rogue Spectre, that is like the second one of them I have had to deal with in my life...how many more could there be?
I also found out that Liara has gone from the shy, bookish, almost obssessively cheerleading type to a meglomaniac information broker. I should almost be proud of her...but still, not sure this is a good thing at the end of the day. Time will tell.
Though, in the end, I guess it was good to catch up with her.
We have now set a course for the Bozeman System, to do Kasumi's kaper now that everything is ready. So yesterday on mass effect, started worrying about my available resources and if I have enough to get everything I want. On the one hand I think I am close to getting everything I really need. Very few upgrades are still out there, I think, but on the other hand I only have one of the ship upgrades and do not know what the effect of the others will be. And I never precisely crunched/ looked up the numbers I have needed to finish everything in the game. Though I am hopeful.

This is like meta-Mass Effect...
Trying to get Grunt and Mordin's loyalty missions uploaded as well as DCC. Been sort of slacking on getting all that stuff sound mixed and uploaded.
Saw a comment on my old No Charge Novaguard run that a build like that would get kicked in the butt repeatedly in MP. Perhaps.
For some reason I have been fooling around in DAI (partly to test my new ram and see if it did anything), but I have been sort of tempted to start an ME3 run. I wish the Saber was unlocked earlier. Maybe I need to reinstall expanded galaxy mod.

Dear Ashley,
Still missing you more than ever. I visited the crash site of our Normandy. I guess about 20 of the crew are with you now - I found their dog tags... and my old helmet. The ship is broken up pretty bad. You must have known I was feeling pretty low, 'cause the most awesome Aurora erupted just as I was placing a monument the Alliance gave me. As the light was dancing in the sky, I remembered our dance so long ago in Flux. I knew then that I'd get this job done somehow.
I'll tell you though, Cerberus isn't making it easy... the list of people they've given me to recruit... it's something else. So far - I've got a lovesick master thief who is really just interested in getting her partner's memory box back and gossiping about the crew. I've got a hardass bounty hunter who is mostly intent on chasing some gang leader down. I got a tank-bred baby krogan who is actually bigger than Wrex, but is searching for a purpose to his life... And last but not least, there's Jack. She was being kept in cryo on a prison ship and seems to really hate Cerberus. I've convinced her to come along for now by giving her access to the ship's Cerberus data bases. She says she's looking for names and dates and places and I don't think I'm going to like what she's hoping to do with them when she finds them. She offered to be my First Mate... didn't have the heart to tell her that the job was already occupied... You know that's still you, Ash.
Of course, I also have two stooges from the Cerberus ranks. Miranda, my second in command and the one responsible for putting me back together, really believes in Cerberus. It seems they helped her escape her father's control; but she doesn't seem to even notice that she really just exchanged her dad for the Illusive Man. She is, at least, proving to be pretty useful on the battlefield. The other one, Jacob... well, he just doesn't seem to be all that confident. He pretends to be critical of Cerberus, but I sort of get the feeling he's even more of a Yes man than Miranda.
I finally got to meet with Anderson and the Council. The Council was it's usually helpful self... not; but I am reinstated as a spectre. Anderson says he's going to try to keep everyone off my back for now so I can get this thing with the Collectors sorted out. I'm off next to sort out some sort of problem Cerberus is having at a research base in the Phoenix Massing. Promise I'll write you again when I get back,
Love, V.

Started a NG+ in ME today with one of my engineers, Susan Shepard. Named after Susan Ivanova of B5. She's a colonist, war hero. Starting at level 52. Charm maxed out, a few points in Intimidate. Switched difficulty from Normal to Hardcore. I was going to do Insanity but I already have the achievement and I just don't feel like that tedium this time around. I just want to have fun!
I installed the high res texture mod some time ago and played the game with it once or twice but honestly couldn't see any difference from before. Now I know why. I was playing with my old (not really a) video card installed. I had to get a new card in order to play DAI and now I can really see the difference! Everything is so much brighter, there's so much color everywhere - it just looks so pretty! Didn't help Jenkins see those drones any better though.
I tried to capture a screenshot of Susan in the squad screen but apparently ME doesn't like that. I ended up pasting a picture of my desktop instead. I'll try again tomorrow in windowed mode and see if that works.

Mark Shepard:
Heretic Station: Everyone else was loyal to me and I needed to make sure this geth had no doubts. I did find Joker's robot imitation amusing.
I brought Tali along on the geth heretic ship. I figured she knew more about the geth than any of the rest of us and might notice hidden traps. Or they could just hate her for being quarian and make things worse. Still, I was willing to take the risk.
We were here to destroy the geth heretics but Legion send they could be re-written, that a new choice now existed. Tali cautioned that leaving all those geth intact might lead to disaster if they should all turn heretic down the road. I saw her point. Plus, brainwashing was never my style. Free will matters, even if it means you get killed for your decisions.
We had to go around the ship destroying all these geth hubs where 3 or 4 of them were hooked up to a central device. If I killed them without triggering their alarms it was good. Didn't always work and we were attacked at times.
Legion was able to access the geth heretic programs. Then it came time to rewrite or destroy the heretics. The geth couldn't reach a consensus and left the decision to me. A few thoughts crossed my mind. The dead on Eden Prime, a paradise human colony: Jenkins, the first of my crew to die, and the colonists who were massacred or turned into husks. Ash, dying on Virmire. Then the many encounters with them while aboard the SR-1. No, I wasn't about to let the heretics off the hook. Destroying them was the option that made sense so they don't draw a different conclusion yet again. And given that the influence of the Reapers is still alive and well I could imagine that being possible.
Once this was done we had like 3 minutes to get out. We ran hard and fast, killing anything in our way, and were able to escape on the Normandy before the heretic ship blew up.
Normandy SR-2: Joker warned me that Tali and Legion were fighting in the AI core. Legion was going to transmit some sensitive information about the quarians to the geth. Tali objected. I talked sense into them. I understood both of their positions as did they understand one another. However, sending the information would have led to direct war and neither would be in a position to face the Reapers. They both backed down and Tali made a hell of a compromise by giving Legion some non-classified information.
All of my squadmates left with me on a mission. When we came back, we found the entire crew minus Joker missing and EDI was unshackled and in full control of the Normandy. The Collectors had homed in on the Reaper IFF, meaning it was a trap all along. They abducted everyone on board. Joker freed EDI and hooked up the drive core. Then she sealed him in the engine room before opening all cargo doors and airlocks to eject any remaining intruders.
Now was the time to go after the Collectors. I don't know if there was anything else I might do, besides try to help Hackett's friend, but I didn't want to risk losing a crew that was loyal to me and trusted that I'd take care of them. Dr. Chakwas and Kelly were among those taken and I couldn't leave them to their fate. The humans I saw on the Collector ship were all dead and had been experimented on. I wanted to avoid losing another Normandy crew to such a horrific end.

Filed under: Mars Archives Mission Report Status: Sent Recipient: Hackett, Steven As per your orders, Major Kaidan Alenko, Lieutenant James Vega and I went to the Mars Archives. We encountered Cerberus troops outside the facility, executing Alliance personnel, and disposed of them in return. Inside, we met Dr. Liara T'Soni and soon learned that Cerberus had infiltrated the archives in form of a woman called Dr. Eva Core. Major Alenko found a dead Cerberus soldier. He took off his helmet and the similarities to a husk couldn't be denied. It seems Cerberus is altering their own people. We rid the facility of more Cerberus troops and entered the archives. The Illusive Man contacted me via hologram and conversed with me about how he prefers the Reapers alive, wanting to control them, while T'Soni tried to download the prothean weapon data. However, someone wiped the data as we talked, and it was no other than Dr. Core, who had downloaded the data for herself and tried to escape with it. After a wild chase she almost escaped in a shuttle. Lieutenant Vega, whom I had ordered away earlier, rammed the Cerberus shuttle with one of our own, making it crash down on the roof. Dr. Core turned out to be a synthetic, still not shut down after the crash. On the order of the Illusive Man she attacked Major Alenko, trying to kill him. I shot her, we secured her and Alenko's body and returned to the Normandy. Filed under: Personal Gone for a few months and everything is so absurd. Thanks to the little trip to the Bahak System I was stuck in the brig at the Alliance HQ back on Earth for 6 months. And all because I bought everyone more time before the Reapers arrived, yet they didn't do anything with this chance. Except Hackett and T'Soni, looking for some miracle. And T'Soni found it... A weapon to defeat the Reapers. I'm very curious about this device, it's hard to imagine this is even possible, but I'll take what I can get. A lot has changed since I 'died', and I feel out of the loop. I haven't seen or heard from Jacob for months and the Reapers finally arriving is just the tip of this giant iceberg of maddening things to happen. I have to admit that seeing them attack Earth made me feel uneasy. I had left my origin and who I was behind me for a long time, but I always thought I could return someday. Proud of who I am, of what I had accomplished. I have to put all of my hope into this device T'Soni found. We are en route to the Citadel to get help for Alenko and to talk to the Council, make them see reason to help us. Things look grim and I won't underestimate the Reaper threat, but I never gave up before. And I never will. Pic time: Weeee! Right back to being an ass, woo! The master bitch herself. It's probably going to be tough to keep this up in ME3, but let's see. More bitchy stuff. I played Arrival on Monday and did the rest on Tuesday and Wednesday, but I was so tired afterwards I never wrote it up until now Neva turned out quite nice with the import, I only had to tweak some minor stuff. Died once on Mars in the last room (that's pretty much always a given), but the Cryo theme is fun in this game. I can't wait to get my hands on the Claymore to see how it is in ME3. I like that my build is close to my ME2 Vanguard, which means I'm not using Nova. I will probably try it out with my next Vanguard.

OMG, OMG, I can smell the end of the DA: Awakening. So, I tossed the coin for finishing my ME3 run or starting a DA2 run. And... Hang in there, Mark Shepard! We are (almost) back in business!
I have a sort of premonition that I am going to pull an all-nighter finishing the DA:A to start the re-immersion in ME3 + ME3/MP over the weekend.
I had that thought that it would be wise to cut back on gaming again to avoid the burn-out before Andromeda. Yeah, that went well.

I saved Omega from Cerberus and watched with glee as Aria strangled the General to death. He deserved it, surrendering like the coward he was. I kind of liked messing with him. If you save him he is all like "thank you Shepard thank you for saving me after all we understand each other!" And then as he is doing this you can get up to two Renegade Interupts. I do the first one to scare the shit out of him, confuse him, and make him realize I am not his friend. Don't do the second one though, I suspect Shepard would have shot him dead there. Didn't want him dead, just wanted him shitting his pants so he would be giving up all of his secrets. *** Anyways, From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy. From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy, Commander Abigail Shepard CO Reporting, June 28th, 2185.
Another mission went wrong, and I had to wear a dress. I shudder to even think about it. But neverthless the 'heist' was a good bit of fun. Not any big decisions. Didn't have much to do with the mission. No moral and weighty issues. Just bashing the head open of a guy who deserved it and battling gunships. It was a bit of a fun break. I enjoyed myself.
***
July 1, 2185.
Whereas...this mission...was not fun at all. I know I did the right thing. Zaeed did not have to convince me of it. But I have read Vido's Dossier, the man was horrible, what he did with the Blue Suns was a horror. If he was able to get off world to continue his reign of terror...that would not be good. He was a terrorist. And his terrorism must be stopped.
But...it was tough listening to people burn. Sometimes I hate this job. So yeah I did do the missions for Kasumi and Zaeed.

Mark Shepard:
Beyond the Omega-4 Relay: We were the first ship to ever survive the trip through the O-4 Relay other than the Collectors themselves. We saw a massive ship graveyard for all those who failed. It soon became apparent that even if a ship made it through there were Collector defenses that attacked. However, the new plating on the Normandy held. We weren't going down as easily as the SR-1.
Unfortunately, something got on board the Normandy in the cargo hold and I was going to have to get rid of it. Plus side is that the only crew are Joker and my squadmates, people who were well-equipped to fight. Jack, Grunt and I went after it. Some kind of spherical device that was deadly. After a fight we scared it off.
Our upgraded kinetic barriers also came in handy when we took some hits that left us relatively undamaged with the barriers still mostly intact. Of course, that meant the sphere thing was returning for another round. We fought it and sent that thing to hell.
Finally, a Collector ship came after us. This was the real test. But our shields held and our Thanix Canon destroyed it. Still, we took damage and crash landed onto the Collector Base. It was going to be up to Joker and EDI to get the ship up and running while we put an end to the Collector threat.
We looked at the layout and had to send someone through a vent. Jacob volunteered but, as Miranda pointed out, a tech specialist is needed and he wasn't up to the task. I had a couple of options but I went with Kasumi. Sneaking into places is the whole reason why she was recruited so I was going to make use of that talent.
Then someone had to lead a fireteam. Miranda volunteered. Jack objected. However, I agree with Miranda. Jacob or Garrus might well do but Jacob volunteered specifically for what he thought was be a suicide mission (the vents). I don't want someone potentially suicidal leading things. I don't know if we'll get out of this alive but I intend to at least try. Garrus is my bro, and I trust him anywhere, but I think Miranda is generally level-headed and has shown she can made solid tactical choices and make good decisions. I went with her.
With those selections made, I took a team with me to enter the ship directly, assisting Kasumi however I could. I chose Jack, because she kicks ass and listens to me, as well as Thane, for picking off targets at a distance. Based on the Collector ship we had previously boarded that would be needed.
I had to keep clearing some kind of heat blockage to allow Kasumi to continue but she finally got through the vents and hacked a door that allowed my team and the fireteam to meet up. We immediately found pods containing humans colonists and the Normandy crew. Before my eyes, a still living woman was liquefied. We immediately went to work getting the crew out. Dr. Chakwas saw she had seen this happen to others where these tiny robots turned them into a gray liquid that was then piped through some tubes.
To get to where the tubes ran we were going to have to enter a room that ran parallel to them. Unfortunately, EDI said the room was filled with seeker swarms, far more than Mordin's protections could keep us safe from. I figured maybe a biotic could maintain such a field. Samara said she could cover a small team and, given her knowledge and power, I let her take this one. Also needed a diversion team and I let Miranda take the lead on this one as well. Finally, my crew needed an escort. I chose Mordin for this. He's a brilliant man and he can fight but I think the powerhouses are who are needed here. Maybe he can help the crew get the Normandy up and running so we can make our escape as soon as we've put an end to this base.
I needed a team to follow Samara. I chose Jacob, because he could be a backup for the barrier if needed, and Legion, because seeker swarms probably wouldn't have any effect on it. Samara had to keep the barrier up so she was unable to fight. The Collectors decided to take advantage but we fought them off. I will say Samara was a hell of an asset here. She really held the barrier up. Saved our asses.
I took Jack and Samara with me to the room where all the tubes led. There was a gigantic skeletal figure there where all the tubes fed into. EDI conjectured that this was a Reaper. I don't know why it looks different than the cuttlefish style of the rest but there it was. The tens of thousands of humans were being used to create these things and EDI believed it would require far more than that to complete. I knew there was no way I could allow this thing to continue to exist.
The thing was alive already. It sent Collectors after us. It's vulnerable spots were the tubes leading in. I used the Cain to destroy them and this proto-Reaper fell down below us. Hopefully destroyed.
Then the Illusive Man contacted me. He didn't want that thing completely destroy it. He wanted to study it. I understand where he's coming from with wanting to gain useful information from it but there are two things that held me back from giving it to him: 1) The thing is an abomination and if there's one thing I know about Reaper tech is that it indoctrinates. No reason to think this is any different; 2) I don't trust the Illusive Man. I've only ever used him for his resources but tech this powerful belongs far, far away from him.
He tried to continue arguing his point but Jack shut him down. Then she handed me a charge to blow the controls. Which is the point when I found out that Reaper wasn't quite dead after all. It took a lot of work but we blew that thing the hell up. Then we ran, barely making it to the Normandy. We took off with seconds to spare before the Collector Base was blown up completely.
Normandy SR-2: All hands survived. I saved my crew and my squadmates followed orders that got them through. I cannot express how proud I am of them all. Whatever they were when we met I feel as though they're people I've come to believe I can depend on. I had a chat with the Illusive Man and put an end to our relationship.
We were free agents right now. Ex-Alliance and ex-Cerberus. Everyone was following my lead. Jack wanted to go pirate but I knew that wasn't an option. We were going to help people and that would start with Dr. Amanda Kenson. Stopping the Collectors doesn't necessarily mean the Reapers aren't coming and Kenson had a belief that they were on their way.
[Probably going to do Arrival right now so I can set up the import for ME3 following.]

Mark Shepard:
Aratoht: The thing about rescuing Dr. Kenson is that I have to get into the Bahak system, which is part of the Batarian Hegemony. These guys do not like humans and I don't like batarians. Also, Hackett asked me to do this mission solo. Not even allowed to bring people I've trusted all along like Tali and Garrus. I don't know what's in store for the rest of us right now but I do know I don't want to be on the outs with Hackett. I'll do as he asked.
The place was a shit hole, even for a batarian prison. I eventually found her being tortured. I freed her but it was still going to be work escaping. We had to fight our way through an Kenson had to hack the system to get us out. We made our way to a shuttle and got out.
Kenson told me she had learned that the Reapers were arriving through the Bahak relay and would use that relay to invade all of the other systems. She referred to it as the "Alpha Relay" because it maybe had the ability to travel to any relay rather than have to made successive jumps. The plan she and her allies came up with was to hurl an asteroid at the relay to destroy it, though she believed the resulting explosion would destroy the system. I could understand why the batarians wanted her dead when they found out about it by hacking comm buoys. Even though batarians had destroyed my entire colony I could not in good conscience retaliate. I didn't know what the solution might be but I intended to find out.
She told me her proof of invasion came from a Reaper artifact she called Object Rho. I was immediately suspicious because I knew that Reaper artifacts tended to indoctrination. If Kenson were indoctrinated she might not even realize that her plan was somehow beneficial to the Reapers. I had to find out more. More included visions from the artifact. This was pretty sure evidence but I was going to have to let this play out.
The Project: This is where they came up with the plan to destroy the relay. The first thing I saw was a countdown that gave a little more than 2 days until the arrival of the Reapers. Kenson was ushering me to Object Rho but as I looked around a saw people who were very relaxed rather than anxious. They were engaged in conversation rather than preparation. These are not signs of people worried about the arrival of the Reapers.
When we got to the lab I saw a completely unshielded artifact. It gave me a vision of the coming of the Reapers and sent me to my knees. Then Kenson drew a gun on me, saying she couldn't allow me to stop their arrival. I knocked the gun out of her hand but others came to attack. She escaped and locked the door behind her. While fighting, Object Rho spoke to me. It sounded exactly like Harbinger. Of course, it also sounded exactly like Sovereign. That meant this either was a Reaper or there was a Reaper speaking through it. I took everything that threw at me. What finally brought me down was a pulse from Object Rho.
When I woke up I was in on a table. There was a doctor and some guards but I took them out. They took away my armor but I was somehow in that Cerberus uniform I'd ditched as soon as I found an alternative. However, I was locked in. I managed to take control of a LOKI mech and use it to blow a power juncture to take down the barrier holding me in. I discovered I'd been sedated for two days. The countdown showed I had less than 2 hours before arrival and that left very little time to get that asteroid moving.
The guards I had to fight were nothing like Blue Suns, batarians, or anyone else I fought. They weren't a match for me but they were determined and Kenson was guiding them from over the comm systems.
The logs are interesting and the indoctrination process is more understandable. A guard noticed that Kenson seemed happy the Reapers were coming but also talked of strange Reaper dreams. Kenson's log said she wanted to stop the Project because they didn't know enough about the Reapers. Since they had been through before and life existed, she concluded that they needed to talk to the Reapers. I know what Sovereign told me so I know what the Reapers are about. I wonder if I'd see it so clearly under indoctrination.
Once I made my way to the engine control I activated the Project. The VI told me it would result in about 305,000 batarian deaths. In many ways this was unforgivable, even if it delayed the arrival of the Reapers. Yet, I had no choice. 300,000 vs trillions. I know war isn't about math - or at least it shouldn't be - but this was going to be hard to live with. That is, assuming I survived it.
I tried to send out a warning to the batarians but Kenson interrupted me. She decided to cause a core reactor meltdown to destroy the asteroid. I had to stop her. I managed to avert the reactor overload but then she planned to blow the engines. I found her and shot her but not before she triggered a bomb. The explosion knocked me out. When I came to there were about 28 minutes left until collision. Communications were down so I was going to have to take a shuttle but I'd have to fight my way to it. When I got to the site, the last shuttle was leaving. However, this was the comm tower and I used it to signal the Normandy to pick me up.
As I was making the call, Harbinger in its true form appeared to me. It was a hologram like the one of Sovereign I'd encountered but I knew even these light displays were powerful. It told me everything I was doing was pointless but I couldn't help notice it was trying to stop me. That meant I was making things difficult for them. I told it humans would find a way to stop them. It's parting comment suggested to me that their planned invasion would not be happening on schedule. I believe this is the second time I prevented that.
Then the Normandy arrived and we made it through the relay just before it exploded. I watched the system blink out of existence. Thinking not just of the slavers, but the children and probably slaves from other races in that system made it difficult. I wasn't sure how I was going to handle it.
Normandy SR-2: Chakwas gave me a clean bill of health and there were no signs of visions. However, Admiral Hackett was present. Since I had done this mission as a favor he came to me in person for a debrief. He wanted to know what happened and I explained it all, regardless of potential consequences. He understood why I did what I did but also said the batarians would want my blood. Given the animosity between humans and batarians it would be easy for them to conclude that this was an act of war against them rather than the Reapers.
Hackett made it clear he knew the Normandy was no longer a Cerberus ship. He also said I was eventually going to have to return to Earth to "face the music" for my actions. However, he said that with the understanding that being on Earth was going to be necessary so that I would be in position to fight the Reapers. With the Suicide mission done and no other plans, I decided to just deal with it now. I let the crew and my squadmates know the situation. I'd drop any of them off wherever they needed to go since I didn't expect everyone to turn themselves in with me.

[Last one for tonight]
ME3 import. Mark Shepard, colonist, war hero, vanguard. Some choices I made: saved the Rachni Queen, rescued Kaidan on Virmire, sacrificed the Council, saved Maelon's data, kept Wrex alive on Virmire, destroyed the geth heretics, destroyed the Collector base, survived the suicide mission with 12 squadmates, romanced Kaidan before ME2, did not romance anyone in ME2. Special Power: Reave
Earth: After blowing up the batarian relay that stopped the Reaper invasion - but also destroyed the system - I returned to Earth. I was questioned a lot about what I knew, confined to quarters and stripped of my rank. Still, I wasn't thrown in the brig. At a guess, all of the punishments kept me from being hunted down by the batarians. Over the six months I'd been there I had gotten to know Lt. James Vega, a frequent escort. Anderson had also retired from the Council and returned to Earth as an admiral.
Vega showed up in my quarters to tell me the Alliance committee wanted to speak to me. I ran into Anderson en route, who was also going to the committee. Also came across Kaidan who I learned had been promoted to major. He hadn't told me. That hurt but I played it off and said I was just glad I'd run into him.
The committee told me something big had destroyed the Arcturus station and was heading to Earth. I told them it was the Reapers and that our only hope of survival was by working together with all races in the galaxy. They were hoping I'd have a quick solution but if anything like that had ever been possible that time had come and gone. Now we just had to survive.
Unfortunately, the Reapers had other plans. While in session, the Reapers blew past Luna and came to Earth. They fire a blast that took out the entire committee. Only Anderson and I survived and then because I saw what was happening before the beam hit. I did hear Anderson's side of a conversation that Kaidan was alive and headed to the Normandy. That God for that. Even if we weren't close I want to know he's still breathing.

Susan, Kaidan, and Ashley are just about ready to have a "talk" with some guy named Fist about a quarian.
Harkin is still an ass. I might let Garrus shoot him next game.
Decided to leave Wrex off this mission since I like seeing Fist in ME2. I'll make it up to him later.
I'm going to do my best to read (and listen to) all the codex entries this time. Not sure I've ever done that before (especially the listening part ).
Comparing heights between Shepard and Garrus, he doesn't look much taller than her in this game, maybe only 6 inches and certainly less than a foot. Maybe he switches to platform shoes on Omega to make himself taller?

Filed under: Personal Our attempt to gain the Council's help for Earth did not succeed, however it was the turian councilor of all people who had an idea how I could get what I want. Now that weasel Udina and I have to work together, and maybe we can convince the Council members eventually. I have high hopes, since we just extracted the turian primarch from Palaven's moon, and he promised his support for Earth if I can manage to get the krogan to help the turians. This will be a tough ordeal, but we will have a summit soon with the krogan leader, the primarch and the salarian dalatrass. The asari still keep themselves out of it, but sooner or later they will have to join in. Admiral Hackett and I are now in regular contact via QEC, which helps a lot since I can update him and talk about the latest developments directly. I also ran into Dr. Michel while I was on the Citadel and convinced her to work for me on the Normandy, and we have a reporter on board now. Interested to see how that works out. I had a quick talk with T'Soni, who became the new Shadow Broker while I was in the brig. I'd really like to know how she pulled that off. She used to be such a weak and naive person, but I guess time and circumstances change people. Now she has some irritating drone and all sorts of equipment in Lawson's old office, but her information network will likely be very useful. For now we are en route to Grissom Academy. This new girl, Traynor, investigated a turian signal that implied they were evacuating the academy. But she found out it's fake and EDI thinks it's actually Cerberus. If that's the case - and I'm almost sure it is, because this reminds me of what I've experienced with the Illusive Man and that Collector ship - then I want to be there, make sure Cerberus pays for this. Traynor seems a tad unprofessional, but if she found out there's something wrong with the signal she must be quite smart. She might be useful after all and I can't believe that this AI was right about her. Speaking of which. This dumb thing took over the synthetic's body we salvaged from Mars. I am highly displeased with this, but EDI secretly did this on its own while T'Soni, Alenko and I were on Menae. Now it sits there next to Moreau and he drools all over it. Just perfect. I still haven't heard from Jacob and no leads about his whereabouts. I don't want to think the worst, but no contact is never a good sign. Pics: Citadeeeel woo! Hehehehe. Dr. Michel! At some point I need to recruit her while Garrus is alive, maybe he has some comments about her? Yup, Shepard, that's right! Neva being polite

Miriam Shepard helped the krogan people...
Ordered the Normandy to Tuchanka to implement the genophage cure.
Planned to use the "Shroud" (salarian atmospheric processing tower installed during uplift, designed to cleanse atmosphere of nuclear pollution) to disperse the cure. Plan threatened by presence of Reaper near Shroud, using it to poison atmosphere. Primarch Victus agreed to deploy turian squadron to act as diversion; Wrex's troops would simultaneously attack from the ground, clearing path for Mordin and Eve to enter Shroud and disperse cure.
Received private communication from salarian dalatrass; learned that Shroud includes safeguards to prevent use as genophage cure delivery system. Was urged to leave safeguards in place; salarians still seriously concerned about implications of resurgent krogan.
Landed on Tuchanka with Wrex, Eve, Mordin, Garrus and Javik. Came in hot; husk mob at landing site easily neutralized. Met Wrex's brood brother Wreav, conservatively-minded krogan who objected to Mordin's presence. Wrex put him in his place.
Proceeded towards Shroud in armoured truck convoy. Explained about conversation with dalatrass en route. Mordin anticipated no problems with disabling safeguards and successfully dispersing cure.
Journey interrupted by Reaper attack; forced to proceed on foot through ancient ruins. Found murals depicting Kalros, mother of all thresher maws. Earth tremors indicated that Kalros is no myth. Architecture of ruins impressive, predating krogan industrial revolution. Ruins opened out into verdant area, stark contrast to much of Tuchanka, almost like a different planet. Garrus and Eve optimistic about krogan future; Javik more cynical.
Encountered light resistance from Reaper ground forces, including rachni artillery.
Krogan convoy attacked by Kalros, demonstrating territorial instinct. Wreav's truck presumed destroyed. Mordin, Wrex and Eve formulated plan to have Kalros attack Reaper: Shroud built near shrine to Kalros containing "maw hammers" that can summon it. Proceeded to shrine, evading Reaper main cannon and heavy resistance from "Brute" entities. Activated maw hammers; proceeded to Shroud while Kalros destroyed Reaper.
Shroud critically damaged by ground tremors and Reaper interference. Mordin insistent on finishing work regardless. Cure dispersed successfully; Shroud collapsed. Mordin presumed deceased.
Krogan assistance on Palaven and Earth secured. Turian assistance on Earth guaranteed.
Mordin's name added to Normandy cenotaph. A good man, he will be missed.
[Played this one conservatively when the Ravagers were around and vanguard-style the rest of the time. The husk mob at the beginning was particularly enjoyable. No deaths in combat, though the Reaper laser got me a few times. I left most of the Brutes alone at the end, but got a bit of mileage from using Charge to target the ones nearest to the hammers so I could zip right past the bulk of them. I found the Brute rush quite tricky during my first playthrough, so was pleased to find it much easier this time.
With Wrex alive and Maelon's data saved, full Paragon is the only way of playing this, in my opinion. So there was no difference in outcome from my first playthrough. I think I took Garrus and Liara the first time, so did hear some different dialogue this time by having Javik along.]

Karen Shepard, Soldier (Shock Trooper), ME1 NG+: Sentry Omega Cluster - Virmire Salarian Camp Shepard ordered the Normandy to Virmire, to assist the salarian STG team that was investigating Saren. Anti-aircraft towers prevented the ship from landing at the salarian base, so Shepard, Liara, and Tali landed in the Mako. The geth had setup ambushes at various points - what else is new - but Shepard and company succeeded in taking down the defences so that the Normandy could land.
At the salarian camp, the STG commander, Captain Kirrahe, filled them in on the situation. They had found Saren's base of operations on the planet, he was using it to breed an army of krogan - Saren had somehow found a cure for the genophage. The STG had sent a transmission to the Council requesting a fleet to assault the base. The message wasn't clear, however, so they would have to make do with the Normandy and her crew.
With no fleet on the way, Kirrahe needed some time to come up with a revised plan. Shepard, for her part, needed to deal with Wrex. To say that her krogan friend wasn't happy about the plan to destroy the genophage cure was an understatement. The two squared off, Shepard attempting to convince Wrex that Saren only wanted to use the krogan, just like the Council had against the rachni. Wrex eventually saw Shepard's point, realizing that as badly as his people had been treated by the Council, Saren would be on a whole other level. He stood down, and agreed to trust Shepard's judgement. Shepard made a promise to herself that she would try to return the favour some day.
Kirrahe had come up with a revised plan to destroy Saren's base. The salarians would convert the drive core of their ship into a crude nuclear explosive. It would need to be delivered to the heart of the base; more AA defences and other fortifications made attacking from air impossible, so they would need to assault the base on foot, then deal with the AA towers and ground forces so that the Normandy could deliver the nuke. Kirrahe's plan involved the STG assaulting the front of the base as a distraction, while Shepard took a small team to sneak in another entrance. Ashley would go with the salarians to coordinate communications between the teams, while Kaidan would be responsible for arming the device. Infiltrating Saren's Base Captain Kirrahe delivered an inspiring speech to his troops, then the STG teams began their frontal assault on Saren's base, while “Shadow Team”, a.k.a. Shepard, Liara, and Tali, looked to sneak in while the geth were distracted. Along the way, they disabled a geth communications tower, destroyed an enemy satellite uplink and a refuelling depot for geth drones, hoping that this would weaken Saren's defences and make it a little easier for Kirrahe's teams. The STG's task was especially risky, and Shepard wanted to do whatever they could to increase their chances of making it out in one piece.
Shadow Team overcame the geth and krogan defenders and entered the base. At the entrance, they were attacked by some salarians, STG operatives who had been taken prisoner. The only possible explanation was that they were suffering from the indoctrination that Shiala and Benezia had talked about, which was a worrying development. Shepard ordered Tali to shut down the security alarms; they had the option to set them off on the far side of the base to take some of the heat off of them, but that would have made things more difficult for the other teams. Shepard felt confident that Shadow Team could handle whatever forces they encountered.
Inside the base, they found prison cells with more salarians, exhibiting behaviour that pretty much confirmed indoctrination. One of the STG operatives, Pvt Menos Avot, complained of experiments which seemed designed to study nothing but "the effects of incessant whispering on my shortening temper!" He asked to be let out of the cell, to get "a little payback." Shepard decided to release Avot and the others, on the off chance they could help in the battle. It was not a wise decision - the salarians attacked and they were forced to kill them in self defence. Disappointing, but not surprising, given the state they were in.
Shadow Team continued making their way through the base, and found more cells. Lt Ganto Imness, who seemed to be in a much better state of mind than Menos Avot, confirmed that his team had been indoctrinated. Imness was apparently chosen as a control subject for the experiments, and had to watch as his squad was reduced to mindless husks. The indoctrination, Imness warned, was a far greater threat than the krogan breeding grounds, and that despite Saren using it to control people he didn't seem to understand it. Shepard released Imness to give him a chance to escape the impending destruction of the base. Shepard also unlocked the cells for Imness' team; they were unlikely to escape given the state they were in, but at least they didn't attack like the others. Sovereign The team found a research lab, full of husks, a krogan scientist and his asari assistant. In the next room, another asari researcher, Rana Thanoptis, surrendered. Shepard interrogated her about the Saren, Sovereign, and the purpose of the base. She confirmed Ganto Imness claim that Saren was researching indoctrination, worried that it was controlling him while he was using it to control others. Indoctrination, she claimed, was a signal that emanated from Sovereign, a "whisper you can't quite hear". Eventually you stop thinking for yourself "and you just obey". Rana wanted to escape before it affected her, so Shepard told her to run before the blast got her.
Beyond Rana's office was Saren's private lab. Liara's speculation that Saren had access to another Prothean beacon turned out to be true - another beacon, this one undamaged, was stored here, and Shepard activated it. The images from the vision flew by in Shepard's mind too quickly for her to decipher, but at least this beacon didn't explode and knock her out for hours. When she recovered, she ordered Shadow Team to move on. On the way out, however, they noticed an active communications console.
On the other end of the line was Sovereign, who had been expecting to speak to Saren. It quickly became clear that Sovereign wasn't a Reaper vessel; the ship itself was in fact a living, artificial intelligence, "an actual Reaper." Sovereign spoke to them, mostly in cryptic terms, about the Reapers, how organic races were powerless to stop them, and the cycle of genocide had gone on for ages and would continue and claim the all advanced races in the galaxy. It claimed that the mass relays, the Citadel, and all of the other technology we rely on was created by the Reapers in order to make us easier to "harvest". Despite the Reapers obvious power and the threat they posed, Shepard refused to be intimidated. They would find some way to stop Sovereign and the others Reapers, Shepard was sure of it. Saren Sovereign ended the conversation, and Shepard, Liara, and Tali continued to the first AA tower. They disabled it, Kirrahe's teams took out the second, and the Normandy was clear to land outside the breeding chambers at the centre of the facility. As Kaidan was preparing the nuclear device for detonation, a call for help came in from Ashley - the STG teams were pinned down at the AA tower and needed assistance. Shepard and her team went to extract them while Kaidan continued to prepare the bomb.
As they were on their way to the tower, a geth drop ship deployed reinforcements at the bomb site. Kaidan armed the bomb to ensure it detonated - the nature of the device was such that once armed the detonation sequence couldn't be stopped. There was no way for the geth to prevent the base from being destroyed, Kaidan was sacrificing his own life to ensure the success of the mission. Shepard made a beeline for the AA tower to extract Ashley and the salarians, as Kaidan's sacrifice wouldn't be worth a thing if they all died here.
Shadow Team helped turn the tide against the geth forces at the AA tower, but there was another complication. Saren himself arrived, and Shepard and the disgraced former Spectre finally met face to face. Shepard asked why Saren was doing this - why betray the Council, why doom the galaxy by helping the Reapers? He claimed that the Reapers couldn't be stopped, but that organics could be "useful" to the Reapers, thus ensuring their survival.
Sovereign had made a failed attempt to intimidate Shepard earlier, but obviously in the case of Saren it had worked. He was terrified of the Reapers and felt victory against them was impossible, he was just looking for a way to save his own skin. Perhaps this was an effect of the indoctrination, the belief that you can't win and "submission (is) preferable to extinction." Saren confirmed he was worried the indoctrination was affecting him, and Shepard saw an opportunity to try and change his mind, to convince him to join Shepard in the fight against Sovereign. Saren refused, and the two fought. As the battle came to a head, an alarm rang out throughout the base - the nuke had been armed, and the whole place was about to be vapourized. Saren broke off his attack to make his escape, and Shepard did the same, getting her crew and the STG operatives onto the Normandy to get clear of the blast zone. The bomb exploded, taking Saren's base, and Kaidan, with it.
In the briefing room, Ashley expressed guilt that Kaidan was gone when she felt it should have been her. Shepard tried to tell her that Kaidan had done what he had to do and they needed to persevere to make his sacrifice worthwhile. Liara suggested she and Shepard join minds again, to try and obtain new information from the intact beacon on Virmire. From the visions, she found that the transmission was a warning against the Reapers. She also deduced that the Conduit was on Ilos, and that was where Saren was heading. Shepard warned the Council, who expressed scepticism about the Reapers and the danger they represented - "(Saren's) playing you, Shepard" - but backed Shepard to do what she felt was necessary to protect the galaxy from whatever she felt the real threat was. Shepard ordered Joker to take the Normandy back to the Citadel, to meet with the Council in person and plan their next move.

Mark Shepard:
Earth: Stepping out of the ruins of the Alliance Council meeting room, I followed Anderson toward the docks to try to get to the Normandy. We encountered husks along the way. Curiously, some of them tried to get through a wall and did not attack us. Never saw anything like that before. There was a jammed door and I cracked it open for Anderson to get through. But then I saw a kid in a vent shaft. Looked just like the one who plays outside my window. I tried to get him to come with me but he refused. When I turned away for a second he disappeared. I don't know where he could have gone so I had to move on.
The destruction was incredible. We saw a Reaper take down a dreadnought. That explosion did some heavy damage. The vision I'd received from Object Rho showed me Reapers filling the skies. Harbinger also said that would happen. And now here they were. The fleets suffered heavy losses fighting just Sovereign. I had no idea how we could possibly fight what we were seeing but I wasn't going to give up. Anderson wanted me to go to the Council for help. I wasn't sure if that would mean anything. Last time I tried to speak to them they refused to even talk, except for Anderson, who had reinstated my Spectre status. Now who knew?
Saw a new type of husk, this one looking like it was based on batarians (four eyes). It actually ate its fallen brethren to regenerate. Disgusting.
We made it to the docks and found a radio. There was too much static but Anderson set its distress beacon. Hopefully the Normandy could home in on it. Also found an Avenger. The pistol was nice but not what I needed at the moment. Then we ran out of bullets. Sure, I have my biotics but they were only going to take me so far. The situation was dire.
That's when the Normandy showed up. I remember the first time I saw it. It was impressive, even if it had Cerberus colors. Now, though, I looked like an Alliance vessel. It gave me some hope. I ran to it, leaping into the cargo hold. Kaidan was there. Anderson refused to come, saying the people on Earth needed a leader. He was right, but that didn't mean I had to like it. He ordered me to the Citadel but I told him he couldn't do that. That's when he pulled out my dog tags and threw them my way, giving a battlefield reinstatement. I know that if he'd had the power I would never have been stripped of my rank in the first place so I accepted. Then I followed his orders and we left.
James Vega had also made it on board and was not happy we were leaving Earth. He didn't get a say in the matter and I made sure he understood that. Also learned that EDI was still installed and that Joker was piloting the ship. I felt a little better knowing I had people I could trust. It was starting to feel more like the original Normandy crew to me.
Got a transmission for Hackett telling me to go to the Archives on Mars. Liara was apparently there researching some Prothean tech to find a way to beat the Reapers. Or something like that. Not too clear on what real advantage anything there could give us since the Prothean empire had been destroyed by the Reapers and the remained had been turned into Collectors. I went anyway.
Mars: Vega shuttled Kaidan and I down to the surface. We found a dead Alliance soldier who looked like he hadn't put up a fight. Then we came upon some Cerberus soldiers executing another Alliance marine. He also didn't fight back. Kind of fucked up. I got some satisfaction in lining up my Indra and taking that Cerberus soldier's head off. Still, it didn't bring back the dead and enough people were dying on Earth right now without this kind of bullshit.
Now Kaidan was questioning why Cerberus was on Mars and what I knew about it. I was locked up for 6 months on Earth. How would I know anything? Besides, even Hackett knew I'd cut ties with Cerberus before I went to Aratoht. I don't know why Kaidan distrusts me so much. Vega, at least, knew that there's no way I could have been in contact with Cerberus while on Earth.
Inside the base there were sounds coming from an air duct, followed by panel being kicked out and Liara jumping to the ground. Two Cerberus soldiers were on her tail. She hit them with a singularity and then shot them. It was good to see her, especially since she might no what was happening. She told us about blueprints for a Prothean device that the aliens believed could defeat the Reapers. They died before it was completed. I sent Vega back to the shuttle to be prepared for an evac while Kaidan, Liara and I pressed on.
