Finished ME!
Susan, BF Kaidan, and BFF Wrex stormed saved the Citadel from an attack by geth/krogan/Saren. P/R'd Saren into blowing his brains out, opened the relays for the Alliance ships to bail out the asari and Council, killed Saren again just for good measure, then nearly got crushed by exploding reaper ship. Told the Council to let the politicians figure out who should be the new human councilor. Anderson gave the final speech.
Finished full Paragon and just 1 box shy of full Renegade.
I read/listened to every codex entry and also read every planet description. I still have no idea who/what the raloi are or why some people have a thing for them. Are they even in the game anywhere?
On to ME2, but I think I might wait until I feel better to start it. I plan on playing on insanity again (because I'm apparently a masochist) and don't think I'd do very well drugged up on antihistamine with my head full of cotton.

Mark Shepard:
Rannoch: Tali was in awe of being on the home of her ancestors. She claimed a spot as the location of her future home. I gave her a rock since quarians carried their homes with them. I admit that, as much as the admirals annoy me, there's not much I wouldn't do for Tali. She stuck by me all these years, even when I was with Cerberus and she had some serious problems with them. That's true loyalty and friendship.
Found a couple more Geth Spitfire's. Really helps when taking on the geth prime. Then I pulled out the targeting laser that could be synced up to the Normandy's weapons systems so that we can destroy the Reaper base that's controlling the geth on Rannoch. With both the quarians and the geth on our side we'd have a serious technological bump, not to mention the fleets they both brought to the table. One we fired on the base we found out that it wasn't just a structure sending out the signal. It was an actual Reaper.
We fled in a hovercraft.r. I told the quarians to fire at the Reaper. They hit it's firing chamber and it went down but it wasn't out. Legion suggested fleeing but I knew that the geth would remain under Reaper control and the quarians would be done for. I asked EDI to sync up the entire quarian fleet to my targeting laser. Everyone was on board because we knew we were going to kill another Reaper. This is way better than killing thresher maws.
I took two shots and so far that wasn't enough. I hit the firing chamber but these things were tough. Still, it was staggered but kept creeping closer. I wasn't sure I'd have the time to get it in sight before it fired on me. No choice, though. I was either going to kill this thing or die trying. Third shot still didn't kill it and it was right on top of me. This was it. One last strike. It either worked or it was the end. I swear I was just a few feet from that red eye but that final blast took it out.
I was able to talk to Reaper. It said it was killing us to save us. I sort of knew from Leviathan about the harvesting but I never understood. Still don't. What I do remember is the line I spoke to Sovereign when it confronted me on Virmire. It was really hokey but rings very true today: "You're just a machine, and machines can be broken." Proven true.
The problem came after when Legion wanted to upload the Reaper code to the geth, granting them true independent intelligence. That wasn't the issue. The quarian fleet attacking them was the issue since upgraded geth could destroy them. I figured I could have them upload the code and convince the quarians not to strike. Tali told them to stop but they didn't listen. I took the line and gave the order myself, with Tali saying he was speaking under my authority. I told them that the geth were about to awaken and would destroy but only if they were attacked. Finally, Gerrel backed down.
Legion couldn't actually disseminate the Reaper could on his own. He had to give all he had and put himself out there into all of the geth. This destroyed him but did the trick. Raan had crashed on the planet and came stumbling to us saying the quarians had no place to go. That's when a geth prime ran up and said that the quarians were welcome to resettle on Rannoch alongside the geth. Finally, peace had happened. It only took 300 years. Both sides agreed to assist with building the Crucible.
I talked with Tali. She said she was coming with me. Then, for the first time since she had been given a suit as a child, she removed her mask. I had to admit that Tali was beautiful. I wonder if she even knew. If I weren't with Kaidan I'd be seriously tempted to be with her. I remember Kelly Chambers telling me she thought Tali was interested. Ah, well, that's how it goes. I don't regret a thing.
Normandy: Counilor Irissa contacted me on the QEC. She was glad to hear we had two new fleets. She also said she had some important information for me and to meet her at Udina's old office. Then I talked to Hackett. He told me, after saving the salarian councilor, she decided to send the entire fleet to help despite my role in curing the genophage. She appreciated it and that my prior actions made her a councilor in the first place. He also said he chose me because people followed me - against Sovereign, on the suicide mission and even now. I got people to do things for me that seemed unlikely at best. I guess that made sense.
War Assets: 7014 x 99% = 3507.
Tali told me the geth were doing amazing things on Rannoch. They built houses, set up power systems and even entered into the suits of quarian volunteers to rewrite the environmental functions to jump start their immune systems. There was no doubt the geth wanted anything but to help the quarians. This was consistent with the video logs I'd seen from the early days. Until they came under direct fire, they only wanted to assist their creators.
Another interview with Allers. It was time to explain how the geth were now allies and not "dangerous robots who stick humans on spikes". I think it was a good idea that she came on board. She can tell people what's happened and she's allowed me to put it in the best possible light. This means good news rather than something to fear.

Augh, I can't properly play a full 100% renegade game. I love Jack far too much. Why can't being Jack's bestie and blowing shit up together give us renegade points?

The reapers attacked Earth
I destroyed the reapers.
Now. If someone can help me get the rubble off my chest, I would be grateful

Mark Shepard:
Omega: Aria helped me get those mercs and now it's time for me to help her get Omega back from Cerberus. Along with it will come more ships, eezo and whatever other resources she has available. Kaidan won't be happy, especially since he told me not to go on any missions where he couldn't follow. Out of my hands, just like Leviathan.
I gotta say I love taking out those Engineers right at the moment when they pull out a turret. Shooting the turret still in hand causing it to explode. Bye bye! That happened when we fought the Cerberus troops guarding the Omega defense system. With that down, the rest of Aria's people could make it through before being blown up.
Then we got to an open area that had some crazy looking force fields up. Never saw anything like them before. There was a way around them but we saw tags for a gang called the Talons. When I took down the merc gangs looking for Archangel this gang was able to grab some power for themselves. Seemed they were still operating and opposing Cerberus so that was good news.
Saw a vorcha get pushed into one of those fields by a mech. He disintegrated. The mechs themselves could pass through the fields. Also, when destroyed, they were dangerous to be near because they had an electric-like discharge.
[This is going to be tough to get through. My least favorite part. Don't need the war assets but for RP reasons I want to finish this.]

Not much to report today, no log. I just got up to the point where I started Priority Surkesh though I did also visit and talk with everyne on the Citadel. I always thought it was funny that there really should have been a second renegade interrupt when dealing with the Dalatrass. When you are walking away and she still decides to start mouthing off to Shepard either way. "A thug does not have any friends" Yeah, nor does a little bitch.

So I really don't care for Miranda right now; not that she's really done anything wrong, but I can't seem to get invested in her. So, I'm gonna take Jack with me on her loyalty mission tonight and go full snark and remegade. We are going to fuck shit up and watch Miranda have a melt-down.
Also, if I've timed this right, it will lead right into the Miranda/Jack catfight. It will be glorious.

Feeling much better today so I'm getting ready to boot up ME2 and import Susan. I'm waffling on whether to keep her as Engineer or switch over to Sentinel (I will be Eng. in ME3 for sure). I really like Tech Armor, but I also really like Combat Drone. Decisions, decisions! Hmm....maybe I can be Eng with TA as a bonus power?

Finished Omega DLC. Went renegade and let Aria choke Petrovski so I could get the awkward kiss.
You know what would've completely changed my opinion of this DLC? If Nyreen doesn't automatically die no matter what. The choice in the middle of letting Omega's civilians through the barrier to rebel against Cerberus or hold them back from doing it should've led to Nyreen surviving because she'd be less rash about it or something, and it would've made it feel a whole lot less linear. Still, decent, but a bit one-sided and too combat-heavy but I read the Invasion comic right before starting ME3 this time and that made Omega DLC more interesting.

I really don't understand why she died anyway. Rather then put herself and those things in a field with the grenades, why not shove the grenades at those things and encase them all together. They die, she lives, Aria is a better ruler with her liberal girlfriend by her side (for balance).

Tech Armor isn't available as a bonus power. So I went with Engineer and picked Neural Shock instead. I might switch it to Energy Drain later on if I need more defense.
I'm having trouble getting used to the new keybindings. I keep wanting to press E to use stuff but now it's Spacebar instead, and you can't change it unless you also want to change the 2 other things Spacebar is for (cover being one of them). Ugh, stupid 1 button for everything set up - I forgot how annoying it is.
So, after soloing the YMIR mech on Freedom's Progress, Susan sent Veetor back with Tali.
She finished touring the ship and meeting everyone. Kelly is already telling her she has new messages when there aren't any new messages. (That usually doesn't happen until after the SM, and then I attribute it to her trauma. Not sure what the cause could be this early on. Nerves?)

What platform are you on? If you are on PC, you can probably edit your game save and give yourself Tech Armor as a bonus power. Neural Shock is good on the Engineer. Gives you a good crowd-control option early game. As for Energy Drain, if you want to use Incinerate, then you have to put three points (rank 2) into Overload first, which starts to makes Energy Drain redundant. If you are not maxing Overload but still want Incinerate and Energy Drain, then you have to skimp on something else. You could skimp on Cryo Blast since you really need (rank 4 evo) Full Cryo Blast to get the most out of it.

Filed under: Personal The Normandy is all set and ready to depart soon. I can't believe I can finally go after Leng and the Illusive Man. What I also can't believe is that instead of shore leave, we first had to deal with someone who threatened my life. This is nothing new to me, but I now know that Cerberus is even more insane than I thought. They made... my clone, back when I was dead. Grown for spare parts should I ever need something. I might've pitied the clone hadn't it tried to kill me, taken my name, rank and ship. Inexcusable. In the end, I won of course, and I gladly kicked this imposter off my ship. Afterwards Moreau blindsided me with inviting some of the crew to a party. Some time back I would've killed him for this insolent behaviour. Now I enjoyed the idea of being a host with a beautiful apartment to show off. Fancy snacks and drinks. More time with Sam. Everyone who was still alive at that point joined the party, even Jacob... I had met with him two days earlier and I made him apologise to me, he still owed me that. I forgave him at last. Pics (quite a lot) I don't think I can count how many times I died with two hands, it was an absolute disaster, at least the beginning and the clone The clone fight was really tough for me without Nova. My 'tactic' - after dying countless times charging through the ship - was to hang out in the area to the left when coming from the entrance. There's a small area that's relatively safe from all fire except for grenades. So at first I waited there for the clone and we charged each other over and over, which worked suprisingly well Don't know how I eventually made it, but it really was hell to get through this fight. For the second part of the DLC I used the Eviscerator again because the damage output difference to the Claymore is not thaaat much imo, and I had my cooldown back at 200, which saved my ass a couple of times

Mark Shepard:
Omega (continued): Once Aria and I got past the barriers we ran into a turian female. Don't think I'd ever seen one before. This one was named Nyreen and she seemed to know Aria, and the secrets of Omega, very well. Yet, there was clearly some antagonism. Still, Nyreen helped us fight our way to a base camp.
We wanted to figure out how to shut down the force fields but were going to need allies. The Talons were the best candidates since they had formed a resistance against Cerberus. While we were figuring that out Nyreen disappeared. That meant Aria and I were heading out on our own. We fought our way to the Talon base only to discover Nyreen had taken over the Talons after Cerberus commandeered Omega. That explained why we had found crates full of red sand not being used. Nyreen wouldn't stand for it.
Found a hydra missile launcher. Came in handy. Helped defend the Talon base from Cerberus. Nyreen then agreed to join with us, if only to make sure that civilians were protected.
Back at Aria's base, I ran into Harrot, an elcor who had once blackmailed a quarian on Omega. He wanted help finding something that would put him in Aria's good graces once she took back control. I agreed, but only with future discounts in mind.
Something else unleashed on Omega were something called adjutants. They were biotic monsters, clearly created by the Reapers. I don't know what they were based on. All I knew was we had to pass through their territory in order to shut down the force fields. There were no lights and the area was littered with mutilated Cerberus troops. Past there, we faced Cerberus again. As we got closer to our target no one was attacking us. Nyreen pointed out that it probably meant we were in more danger.
We got to the reactor and it was a trap. Force fields went up around it and us, fields which the mechs could pass through with no difficulty. Aria was more resourceful than anyone ever imagined. She used her biotics to open a hole in the field. It allowed me to get out and find my way to the reactor controls. The problem was that just shutting it down would kill the life support. Aria wanted me to do that but I wasn't that ruthless. I managed to reroute the power away from the fields while maintaining life support. Aria and Nyreen survived though Aria wasn't happy about the delay.
General Petrovsky was the man behind it all. He was the one the Illusive Man had put in control. He tried to dissuade Aria from fighting back. Apparently, he wasn't interested in killing her, me, Nyreen or anyone on the ship. He only wanted the resources of Omega. Still, he had killed and we later discovered that he was also experimenting on the adjutants to bring them under his control. A lot of people died. He was no better than the Illusive Man. For all that he tried to say Aria was a monster, she at least tried to help her people.

Today Karan stopped his admiring of a disarmed bomb to shoot Elias in the head. Well he mostly shot him with the Mako, then fired a few chemical rounds in his gut. Then he did some exploring. Mostly cleaning up the remnants of the Thorian influence and husk disposal. Also went toe-to-toe with an engineer Crime Boss. Neither expected the other to charge, so the was kind of an awkward dance until Kaidan's neuroshock recharged and Karan got in close to beat his opposing engineer to death. Then there was a dance around some boxes while the team took out the two remaining Mercenaries. Checked out Xawin and then found and told Helena Blake her partners were in their graves, while offering her a way out, Paragon style. Being flanked by two alliance officer, he did try his best to remain lawful. While he suspected neither would report him or if the alliance even had any sway over him, he preferred being safer than sorry. Yet he did have a soft spot for criminals, due to his history and familiarity with otherwise decent people in the business. Ended his session on Noveria, drinking a non alcoholic drink with the fanciest of umbrellas, while debating the best way to reach Peak 15. Today's musings: Where do the husks clothes go? On Eden Prime, even if they are sensually touching his torso, the Geth don't strip the Colonist before spiking him. And I'm pretty sure they don't notice Shepard until after the spike goes up, so it's not as if they got interrupted. I know the spikes eat up all the fluids and replace them with tech stuff. But do they also eat fiber and metal in the clothes? Do they just melt?
I get why they look the way they do in the game, or at least I can reason it so it makes sense to me. They are basically cannon fodder, the resources for designing unique husks were better used else where and maybe the game just can't handle it. In the later games the first two reasons could still stand and add that radical design changes would be more distracting than useful.
So my musing are more in the realm of fan fiction sense. Could you describe a husk having the pendant of an old friend. Could a husk be wearing a summers dress, last remnant of that summer vacation they were having when the reapers hit? Might there be a husk hanging about with a dapper top hat that was securely fastened as the spikes flung him towards the skies?
"Karan stared at the husk at his feet. Physically it looked like the millions he had shot down before, but still a pang of pain hit his stomach. He knew that locket. That stupid locket. She almost died running out to fetch it during the siege. The bullet wound didn't even seem to bother her as he dragged her to safety. Reminder of her grandmother. Said she'd go insane if she lost it. And there it was, danging on the neck of a dead husk. He gripped his gun harshly, damn reapers."
So basically, just some fluff pondering. But still.
And theory on Kelly and emails. My theory is that Kelly only listen to the beep of you getting a message, but does neither check the content nor keep a specific watch over what you do on the computer. So when she hears the peep she makes a note of telling you as you walk past. Samantha on the other hand checks the heading atleast, makes a note of wether it's marked unread or not and pays attention to what Shepard does on the computer. So Kelly is less snoopy, but less efficient while Samantha is more efficient, but less respectful of your privacy.
So when you get a message, it makes a note in Kelly's coding to tell Shepard when they walk past, but it doesn't check if Shepard reads the message in the mean time. Samantha's coding on the other hand checks if there is an unread message and fires the line only if there are any.
But it's just a theory.
Oh, and Jolene gave birth to a Krogan. You would think she'd get a romance first, but nope. Just straight to business. His name is Grunt and he's going to help her shoot them nasty collectors in the next session.

Adept Shepard on insanity...
Shepard started today in the virtual Geth museum and looked at all the history between the Geth and Quarians. He had a job to do while he was taking in this information by destroying the Reaper code to prevent further corruption. A consequence of this is the Geth fighters were shut down and saved Quarian lives in the process. Legion salvaged some data from the server and transferred it into some Geth Primes. Shepard isn't happy with the deception. At this stage, Shepard hopes to get the cooperation of both the Geth and the Quarians. He sees the Geth as a useful tool to fight the Reapers but doesn't consider them 'alive'. Admiral Koris needed to be rescued next and Tali was taken along so she can finally place her feet on home soil. Koris was taken in alive because he can organise and inspire the Civilian Fleet.
The location of the Reaper base was discovered so a return trip to Rannoch was on the cards. Legion decided to take this time to reveal it has some Reaper code upgrades. Another deception proved to Shepard that the Geth can't be trusted with Reaper Code upgrades so he decided to berate him in front of everyone. Legion hung his head in shame. Shepard then had a conversation with Tali about setting foot on her homeworld (they must've forgot they were there during the Koris rescue ). She plans to build a home here and Shepard thought handing an invisible rock would help her. I guess it's a symbolic gesture for a new beginning. The planets scenic backdrop looked stunning but there wasn't any time to take in the view because of a Reaper interruption. Shepard felt a little cocky and decided to take the Reaper out on foot. His first attempt didn't go too well because he was fried by the Reaper's death ray when side-rolling too slow. After the Reaper was dealt with, Legion wanted to upload the code to every Geth platform. Shepard believed that this was a step too far so he prevented the upload. Legion attacked Shepard and Tali stabbed it in the back. I forgot about the renegade interrupt whilst I was drinking some tea which led to a verbal exchange between Tali and Legion. Legion asked "Tali does this unit have a...". Tali finished this by saying "yes, yes it does". This made me feel bad for the first time because usually I take the interrupt. The Quarians will join the war effort.
Spoke with Joker/EDI on the Normandy about what's just occurred. EDI's a little dejected to see the loss of entire synthetic race. Shepard offered his condolences. EDI told Shepard that he would likely save Joker if there was a choice between him and her. EDI has this completely wrong as I can't stand him .
Shepard assisted Riley at a fuel reactor and everyone managed to stay alive.
The Asari councillor scheduled a meeting on the Citadel. She disclosed to Shepard that there's an artefact on Thessia. The Asari admitted that this information was disclosed because they're beginning to feel the heat of the Reapers. At this stage Shepard is feeling confident that the war was is going in his favour as he's got the support of the Turians, Salarians, Quarians and Krogan. Or so he thought, Wrex cut Shepard off at the docking bay. Wrex found out about the Genophage deception. Shepard didn't think the Krogan would have seen through the ruse and severely underestimated him. Shepard decided to try one last lie saying he wouldn't do anything like this because he even assisted him by getting his family armour in the past. Wrex wasn't having it though and he called off the Krogan support. Shepard shot Wrex multiple times and he'll never forget the haunting words of "I know what you did". Having Wrex's body spaced instead of a coffin is just adding insult to injury. All of the Krogan will be cursing Shepard's name as a Judas.
On the Normandy again, Shepard sided with Dr Chakwas in the synthetic/organic debate. She does sound smug when she knows she has the Commander's backing. I realised Shepard didn't have a LI throughout the trilogy so the options were Liara, Steve or Kaidan. Shepard had a conversation with Kaidan at the café because it felt the right time to reveal his true feelings.
Shepard will travel to Benning next because he wants to do something positive after all of this betrayal.

We were playing MP yesterday, and did all Batarian squad, and I had troubles remembering the name of the home world. Some of the species in mp call it out, but not Batarians. Today, I started my sp run with scanning some planets, in the Kite's Nest, and lo and behold, the very first planet was Khar'Shan, the Batarian homeworld. I've read the whole entry. Pretty neat, space North Korea....
Other than a lot of planetary scanning, Mark finished Rannoch sidequests, destroyed the Geth, and crossed the swords with Leng. Well, Leng had the sword, and the gunship, Mark had his own giant swinging codpiece.
Well, the chase is on! I sort of hope to finish the game this weekend to maybe try DA2 before Andromeda.

Paramour'd Ashley in my PS3 half-renegade playthrough full well knowing I will do the exact same thing again on my PC playthrough when I get my laptop back with the full ME1 save completed.
Reaper on Rannoch started talking to me. I told it I'm in control of my species' cycle. Reaper told me I was a fool-- BLAM, I blasted it to bits with a little help from my friends and a hammer of dawn. Best interrupt in ME3.
I also saved both the quarians and the geth in renegade fashion and it was epic. "You are the reason you're fighting this war now! It was your people that drove the Geth to rebel, it was YOU who made them seek out the Reapers, are you going to push them to rebel you again? No? Then STAND DOWN."

Recruited Mordin. Thanks to Incinerate spam and a little patience, I only had to redo the fan run once. Since save is disabled once you enter that area, I had to be really careful. Ran into a vorcha flamer the first time.
Just about to meet Cathka while on the hunt for Susan's future boyfriend Archangel. It's too close to bed time to try that one now. I always have problems in the basement so I expect a few do-overs even if I'm not tired.

So this is a bit late today but I was not feeling well earlier and then *ahem* got caught in an internet debate and had things to do. THough I did get a lot of them done...but we are here to talk about Mass Effect. From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy: From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy, CO Commander Abigail Shepard Reporting, March 22nd 2186.
Since when did Cerberus become so mustache twirling evil?
Anyways, we went to the Salarian homeworld on behest of their Dalatrass to rescue a Krogan they had who survived Maelon's experiments. Mordin himself was there to greet us, and he was the inside source which is why we even know the Krogan was there.
But then Cerberus attacked us. And they were quite....intent...on attacking Eve. Bringing in heavy Mechs and even sacrificing themselves in order to bring them down. Then, towards the end, I asked what they wanted, and the man laughed at me. I knew Cerberus was into some questionable stuff, and me and the Illusive Man have had our dissagrements in the past, but I thought he was more of an extreme renegade more then actually muhahaha evil.
Urdnot Eve seems a descent enough sort though. Fascinating to finally meet a Krogan Woman. Hope this works out for everyone. Anyways do not know when I will log again because I am in that weird spot where I am not actually doing misions per se...I am doing all the Citadel stuff with the Spectres and then the mercenary orgs. And then off to do Omega. But maybe I will do one if I go off to retrieve those special items, hmm.

Mark Shepard:
Omega (part 3!): Making a final run toward Afterlife so Aria and I can take down Petrovsky and rid this place of Cerberus. Ran across Cerberus fighting adjutants. Kept them all distracted and made each of them a little weaker. Logs showed how Cerberus was turning humans into adjutants. It was husks all over again. Some adjutants were targeting civilians just outside of Afterlife. Nyreen threw some grenades at them, encasing herself and the adjutants inside of a biotic bubble. There were no survivors.
If there was any doubt about how Aria felt about Nyreen it became all too clear. Aria went nuts, tossing enemies aside with her biotics and heading right into Afterlife for vengeance. Unfortunately, she ran right into a trap. She was nabbed in a field that prevented her from escaping and was draining her life. I had to fight adjutants and Cerberus troopers while trying to figure out how to free her before she died.
Once she was free and the immediate Cerberus forces were defeated, Petrovsky called off his forces and surrendered. That wasn't going to work for Aria. Or for me. He seemed to think we might become friends while he was in Alliance custody. I didn't trust this guy. I decided to put a bullet in his head. This was war and I had no time for prisoners. Given what I knew of indoctrination I couldn't be sure he wasn't under Reaper influence. Beyond that, anyone who could turn his fellow humans into monsters was equally a monster. As I left, I heard Aria talking about rounding up Cerberus troops and ejecting them so that they could bury and mourn their dead. Sounds like she might be a little less harsh going forward.

Miriam Shepard discovered the Reapers' origin... Picked up Leviathan's trail in Sigurd's Cradle. Scanned several planets in the cluster; eventually found a positive signal coming from ocean world 2818 Despoina. Took a shuttle to the surface with Ashley and EDI. Cortez narrowed Leviathan signal to a point 3km underwater. Prepared shuttle for submersion, but sudden EMP knocked systems offline. Shuttle crash-landed on hulk of shipwrecked MSV Monarch, apparently crippled by similar pulse. Found and destroyed several spherical artefacts like those that enthralled "Garneau" and Hadley. Discovered evidence that Monarch's crew became enthralled and turned on each other. Reaper dropship suddenly emerged from FTL, dropped infantry and Brutes. Defended shuttle from assault while Cortez attempted to make repairs, unsuccessfully. Discovered Triton-class marine mechs aboard Monarch; borrowed one to repel remainder of Reaper landing party. Shuttle still a no-go, so Cortez prepared mech for submersion. Descended to 3km in mech, followed probe signal, encountered huge arthropod-like life-forms, similar in appearance to Reapers, but organic. Received telepathic communication; entities assumed appearance of enthralled humans for duration of communication. Learned that these were the remnants of original galactic civilization. They observed "lesser" races developing synthetic life that inevitably destroyed them. Created "Intelligence" AI of their own in an attempt to solve this problem; "Intelligence" determined solution was to exterminate civilizations before developing synthetics, but preserve them in a new form: Reapers. First Reaper, Harbinger, created from Leviathan race, hence physical resemblance. "Intelligence" still active somewhere, controlling Reapers, ensuring cycle never ends. Artefacts are "windows" used by Leviathan race to observe galaxy and enthrall individuals when "necessary" to protect remaining Leviathans, prevent Reapers from finding them. Reaper indoctrination technology derived from Leviathan enthrallment, perfected over millennia. By creating "Intelligence", Leviathan race fell victim to same fate observed in other races, and doomed galaxy to endless harvest. This whole situation is their fault, yet they hide instead of fight. Expressed outrage in no uncertain terms. Used Triton thrusters to return to surface; found Cortez, EDI and Ashley repelling another Reaper landing party. Remaining Leviathan artefacts activated, enthralled Reaper troops, turned them against each other. Reaper dropship fell out of sky and into ocean. Seems that the remaining Leviathans have decided to fight this time. EMP field deactivated; returned to Normandy. Radioed Ann Bryson en route; she has joined the Crucible team. [During the fetch-and-carry part of the mission, I started off multiplayer-style, only walking with the batteries. After a couple of minutes, I realized that it's possible to run and Charge while carrying them, unlike in MP. It's strange that the Leviathan missions are DLC rather than core content, given how important they are to the story. Perhaps they were intended to be core content but had to be delayed in order to release the game on schedule?]
