Finally finished ME1 and got to level 60 somewhere on Ilos. I didn't even bother trying to play it properly anymore except from the main story, I just wanted it to be over. I'm always really bad at following stories and plot devices, and after listening to Vigil this time I think I finally understand the story for ME1 about the Citadel being a mass relay and how the Protheans sabotaged it and Sovereign was trying to fix it by indoctrinating Saren. It all makes sense!
Imported my character to ME2 and chose the Adept class which was what I had in the first. I played around a bit before remembering all the fun I had with my Infiltrator on Insanity, and now I'm not sure what I want to play as.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2: Omega The Normandy docked on the infamous station known as Omega, located in the nebula of the same name. Shepard figured it was about time she put in an appearance, as news networks had been broadcasting "rumours" that she had been sighted on the station for some time now (TIM's doing, presumably). A salarian and a batarian greeted Shepard, Jack, and Kasumi, demanding that they appear before someone named Aria right away. Shepard didn't know if that was supposed to intimidate or impress her, or something, but it did neither. However, this Aria woman apparently had intel on the subjects of her next two dossiers, so she would go see her at some point. First, she headed to the market place, to look for the T6-FBA couplings that Gabby and Ken in engineering had requisitioned. She found some at a shop operated by a quarian named Kenn, but found the prices he was charging a little steep. He explained that he had gotten stuck on Omega after being robbed while on pilgrimage, and opened the shop to raise cash so he could afford a ticket out. A more established merchant named Harrot was forcing him not to charge prices lower than other merchants, however, so Kenn couldn't make any sales. Shepard was not a fan of price fixing, so she went to visit Harrot, an elcor merchant with a shop nearby. He agreed to let Kenn out of their arrangement (after Shepard asked "nicely"), and must have had a guilty conscience, as he even offered Shepard a discount on his own goods. Shepard returned to Kenn with the good news, and picked up the T6-FBA couplings at a more reasonable price, along with a couple of other items. She had a nice chat with a vorcha named Shisk, who warned her about someone named Captain Gavorn and his tricks. Shepard would keep an eye out. At the Omega Market, the shop-owner Marsh agreed to give a volume discount to avoid losing Shepard's business to the black markets, which worked out well as Shepard wanted to avoid that anyway. The sniper rifle upgrades would come in handy. Marsh also set Shepard up with a subscription to Fornax (she really misses Liara ) They stopped for a bit to listen to a batarian preacher calling everyone a "blight" and warning that "the end times are upon us!" Sounded about right. Shepard and her team went to the Afterlife nightclub to see Aria T'Loak, the self-proclaimed leader of Omega (“...queen if you're feeling dramatic.” Shepard wasn't.) She refused to talk about her past or reveal how she had got to where she is. She did agree to provide intel about Mordin - he was running a clinic in the quarantine zone, trying to help victims of a plague. Shepard's team would need to convince the guards to let them into the slums affected by the plague to get to Mordin. On their way out of the club, Shepard ran into a couple of old “friends”. Helena Blake, the former crime syndicate boss, had evidently turned over a new leaf and was working as a social worker on Omega. An interesting development, to say the least. Fist, on the other hand, seemed more or less his same old self. He was a dock-worker, a big step down from club owner / gang leader, and was quite irked about it, much to Shepard's amusement. His life was a living hell, which seemed to Shepard a far more fitting punishment than letting Wrex assassinate him. Shepard ducked into a side room to get a little peace and quiet from the loud music and met a krogan calling himself Patriarch. He was the former ruler of Omega, who had been defeated by Aria and was now kept on as an adviser, as well as an "example" of what happens to people who go against her. He had been around so long he remembered what things were like before the genophage. Omega Slums - Recruit the Professor At the entrance to the quarantine zone, Shepard, Jack and Kasumi found a guard arguing with a human woman trying to get in to prevent her place from being robbed by looters. He gave a rundown of the situation in the slums - the plague affected all races except humans, so the suspicion was that humans created it. Vorcha were immune to disease, so they were the only others not getting sick. The Blue Suns basically ran the district (Korlus, Purgatory and now Omega - it seemed like in the Terminus Systems you couldn't walk 10 feet in any direction without the Blue Suns taking a shot at you). The plague hit the Blue Suns hard, and the vorcha were moving in on their territory.
Shepard convinced the guard that she could solve the problem, so the guard let her in, much to the human woman's annoyance - if only she'd had a grenade launcher. Shepard didn't have a grenade launcher either, but she make do with four guns, the Arc Projector, and Jack and Kasumi.
Inside the quarantine zone, they made the rather gruesome discovery that the Blue Suns were just burning the bodies of plague victims in the streets. They were also found logs describing how people were locked in buildings by the Suns to try and prevent the spread of the disease - at lease one man wasn't infected at all, and died of starvation when he couldn't get out of his apartment.
There was a batarian man lying in the streets, coughing from the plague. Shepard helped him to the extent she could with a bit of medi-gel, and promised to send help if and when she could. The batarian was grateful, and provided some additional intel about the situation and Mordin and his clinic. Apparently the Professor had a reputation as a bit of a bad-ass, eliminating a group of Blue Suns who tried to shake him down for “protection” money.
Shepard and her team fought through more Blue Suns, and came across an apartment with a human couple locked in it. She convinced them to try and get to Mordin's clinic after she had cleared a path for them - they wouldn't be safe where they were. They revealed that, as the Blue Suns succumbed to the disease, the vorcha had taken over in a way that indicated they were “ready for this”. This implied that the vorcha were responsible for the plague somehow, but that didn't make sense as the vorcha shouldn't be capable of creating something like that.
They headed toward Mordin's clinic, and encountered more Blue Suns, this time battling vorcha. The vorcha had both krogan and varren supporting them, but Shepard and company took out both factions without too much trouble. Another apartment was nearby, this one being looted by a couple of humans. Shepard convinced them that a few trinkets wasn't worth the trouble of breaking into apartments in a war-zone. Mordin's Clinic Shepard and friends finally arrived at Mordin's clinic and met the man himself. He was very much a salarian (talks fast, thinks fast, etc). When Shepard told him why they required his services, he claimed that he suspected the Collectors were also the source of the plague, thinking it might be some sort of experiment, using the vorcha to introduce and spread it. He correctly deduced deduced that they represented Cerberus, calling it "unexpected." Shepard suspected that he already knew Cerberus were looking for him before they showed up, but couldn't really explain why. He just gave the impression of someone who was two steps ahead of everyone else.
While they were talking, the vorcha shut down the environmental systems, attempting to finish off anyone still alive in the district. Mordin agreed to join the mission provided Shepard helped deliver the cure via the environmental control systems, and also to search for his assistant, Daniel, who had naively ran off into vorcha territory to try and help plague victims. Shepard let Mordin know about the sick batarian they had met at the entrance to the district, then went off to deliver the cure. Environmental Control Shepard, Jack and Kasumi made their way toward the environmental control facility, fighting vorcha and krogan along the way. They found Daniel being threatened by some batarians who thought he was spreading the virus. Shepard was able to persuade the batarians that it didn't' make sense for him to be spreading the disease in vorcha territory given that they were immune, and the batarians saw reason and left. Daniel headed back to the clinic to assist Mordin in helping the plague victims.
They arrived at Environmental Control, and were confronted by more vorcha, who confirmed that the Collectors had recruited them to spread the plague. Shepard and her team defeated all of the vorcha and krogan guarding the facility, restarted the environmental systems and injected the cure so it could begin spreading throughout the district.
Back at Mordin's clinic, the Professor was pleased with the results and the return of his assistant, and promised to join them on the Normandy as agreed, once he finished up a few things at the clinic. On their way out Shepard spoke to the batarian they had met at the entrance to the district - now cured thanks to help from Mordin's staff. He was grateful - and surprised - that a group of humans had risked their lives to save him. The human couple from the apartments had also made it to the clinic safe and sound. The clinic staff talked about how they would miss Mordin after he left, they clearly thought very highly of him.
When they returned to the Normandy, Mordin was eager to get to work. Shepard noted how well informed he was about Cerberus. He claimed that he still "heard things" even though he was now retired from the Special Tasks Group. Shepard suspected he wasn't retired at all, but had in fact been working undercover on Omega. With all of the rumours that he was "former" STG, he could act like a "retired" spy without anyone thinking anything of it. Hiding in plain sight, the perfect cover. Perhaps he was even a Spectre, who knew?. Shepard had no evidence for any of these theories of hers, of course, and ultimately it didn't matter to her. She liked him and was glad to have him aboard.

So, I am generally terrible at voice recognition, which is why no one should be surprised that I just now, after a dozen PTs, figured out that Adm. Han'Gerrel is voiced by Simon Templeman, who plays Loghain in DA.
Huh....I just looked him up on IMDb, which says he also voices Dr. Gavin Archer. I haven't done Overlord yet, so I'll have to listen carefully to see if I can hear any Mac Tir in there.

Good because I worry about that boy. I find it difficult to believe that anyone with a conscience could leave David with his brother. Though, I suppose someone could be playing a sociopathic Shepard, who by definition lacks a conscience but may still be willing to do the "job" of saving the galaxy.

Mark Shepard:
Citadel, My Apartment: Everyone made of me for the fish tank incident, either because now their favored sushi place was gone or just because they thought it was humorous. Liara got a lead on the provider of the gun I was using, someone who owned a casino named Elijah Khan. Also some video with the buyer who was using used an identity disguise. Then the mercs who are called "CAT6" which means they are all ex-Alliance soldiers who were dishonorably discharged. Sounds like a fun bunch and the type who obviously don't mind killing me at the potential cost of the continued existence of life in the galaxy.
The plan was to infiltrate the casino during its charity event, sabotage the cameras and security and then make our way to the panic room where Khan was hiding. Liara had Glyph buy the tickets and the plan was set.
Citadel, Silver Coast Casino: Went in with Brooks and Kaidan. Kaidan had looked really hot fighting those mercs at Cision but he was mighty fine to my eyes when dressed to go out on the town. I could see I was going to have to get him in a suit more often. While we schmoozed, Brooks would get to work on disabling the door to the panic room.
Did some dancing in the casino. People have made fun of my dancing. How has anyone not noticed Kaidan dances exactly like me?
Ran into Sha'ira. I asked if she had any new advice for me since she'd been so on point when we met a few years ago. She said "win". Yeah, awesome use of her abilities there.
When we got into the panic room, Khan was dead. There was also a deletion order on his drive but the comms hadn't been wiped. I called the last person Khan had spoken to, which was our mystery man. He tried to intimidate me but failed. I grabbed the hard drive and brought it back to the apartment for EDI to look through. She could find things others couldn't.

Lilith Shepard, Infiltrator, ME3 Chill-out day on Normandy and Citadel. I toured the ship and talked to everybody, including the "guests". Victus wants me to retrieve a turian platoon crashed on Tuchanka. He won't tell me what's all about, only that his son is in charge. Wrex, on the other hand, comes with troubling news: the rachni might be back. This cannot be, not after I pushed that button myself and watched the queen melting in acid. Will check this out. Mordin installed himself and "Eve" in Med-Bay. I had a good talk with him and the female krogan; he has good chances to cure the genophage, but I still don't know if this is the right solution. Found an old friend down in engineering. Citadel, running errands for Aria. I started by meeting the Blue Suns "leader" (really??? at least Vido put up a good fight before he died); of course, nothing is simple, and he has a "small problem" to be taken care of, namely a general turian who does not have the decency to retire and keeps making problems. Well, it happens that I don't feel a great respect for the respective general, so I ended placing a kill order on him. Now the Blue Suns should be in Aria's pocket. I am happy though that Garrus wasn't with me, busy organizing support for wounded turian troops in refugee camp, and I hope he won't find out how I chose to secure Blue Suns support. Liara sent me to Barla Von - apparently, some merc group needs to be saved from reaper-controlled territory. Why she couldn't tell me this herself? Kaidan accepted the Spectre offer from Udina - I congratulated him, but afterwards, I made sure I told Udina my honest opinion - this won't end well. Did some shopping and then managed to sneak back to Normandy avoiding Miranda who was waiting for me in D24.

Miriam Shepard rescued some scientists... Ordered the Normandy to Gellix in the Minos Wasteland to follow up on a lead regarding former Cerberus scientists in hiding. Went planetside with Liara and Tali, found Cerberus troops attempting to gain access to hideout. Civilian scientists outgunned by invaders. Neutralized invasion force, made contact with surviving defender who turned out to be Jacob Taylor. Entered hideout, met de facto leader Dr Brynn Cole. Learned that scientists had been researching Reaper-Collector communications, analysing wreckage of Collector base, but Illusive Man had been eliminating them as their individual tasks were completed. (Circumstantial evidence of low-level indoctrination, not enough to debilitate, but keeping scientists loyal despite their better judgement). Encountered Dr Gavin Archer, formerly of Project Overlord, now trying to atone for what he put his brother through. He asked after David; passed on the news that he was rescued from Grissom Academy. Caught up with Jacob. He quit Cerberus following Collector crisis; now working for Brynn as a private security contractor; feels a sense of loyalty to her and scientists above and beyond mere employment. Intends to settle down with Brynn after the war. Good for them. Second wave of Cerberus invasion force landed on hideout roof. Took Liara and Tali to repel invaders and get anti-aircraft guns online. Invaders moderately competent, included combat engineers setting up shield pylons next to turrets. Neutralized invaders; fought alongside Liara, covering Tali while she repaired AA guns. Cerberus shuttles dropped further waves of troops, including Phantom biotic ninjas; neutralized them without incident. Cerberus kamikaze pilot destroyed one AA gun; invasion force breached hideout. Escorted civilians to escape shuttles; provided cover as shuttles departed. Final wave of invasion force included Atlas heavy mech. Rendezvoused with Normandy shuttle following destruction of Atlas, escaped with Jacob and Brynn. Brynn and scientists joined Crucible project; Jacob signed on as anti-Cerberus tactical expert. Returned to the Citadel to drop off some items recovered during search-and-rescue sweeps of Reaper-occupied star clusters: two Prothean artefacts found in the Hades Nexusand a kakliosaur fossil obtained in the Argos Rho cluster. Called in at the hospital to deliver data about a turian poison obtained from the ex-Cerberus scientists; found Jacob there, getting a checkup before shipping out. Learned that Brynn is pregnant. He'll be a much better parent than his own father, that much is certain. Overheard Garrus and Tali on the comm again. They certainly seem to be getting closer. [One embarrassing death, in the final scene: got distracted by a combat engineer, leaving myself open to Atlas gun fire. That piece of derpery aside, it was pretty easy combat. On insanity, the shield pylons recharged the turret shields so rapidly that leaving the pylons standing isn't really an option, even with a good anti-shield weapon like the Adas. Miriam Shepard hit level 60 during this mission, so I will take the opportunity to share her build: Incendiary Ammo: 4a (damage), 5a (capacity), 6a (damage) Cryo Ammo: 4b (squad bonus), 5a (capacity), 6b (damage combo) Pull: 4b (radius), 5b (expose), 6a (double) Biotic Charge: 4b (radius), 5a (weapon synergy), 6b (barrier) Shockwave: 4b (radius), 5b ( flexibility reach), 6a (recharge speed) Assault Mastery: 4b (reputation/force), 5b (weight capacity), 6b (power intensity) Fitness: 4b (health/shields), 5b (shield recharge), 6b (health/shields) Inferno Grenade: 4a (damage), 5a (capacity), 6b (radius/shrapnel)]

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2: Normandy Now that Professor Solus was recruited, Shepard was finally allowed into the science lab of the ship she commands. She researched the various upgrades and new technologies they had collected so far.
Kelly described Mordin as "like a hamster on coffee", which summed him up pretty nicely. Joker and EDI were, in the words of Kasumi, "bickering like an old married couple" over maintenance reports. Shepard asked EDI to ease up a bit, and Joker was as gracious in victory as you'd expect.
New emails - some taunting from one of the escapees from Purgatory; Dr Chakwas advised that her facial scarring would heal naturally if she maintained a positive outlook - the scars were barely noticeable now, so no need for that medical procedure Chakwas offered.
In Engineering, Ken was torn about whether sharing a deck with a half naked, Cerberus hating psychotic biotic was a good thing or a bad thing, and Gabby seemed to enjoy trolling him about it. They were glad to get the new FBA couplings Shepard acquired on Omega, and invited Shepard to play a little Skyllian Five poker with them to celebrate. Shepard wasn't much of a gambler and ended up losing 100 credits to Ken, but it was a fun time.
Jack indicated that she could use the now available science lab to upgrade her L5x biotic implants. She talked a bit more about her past, including some time she spent as a member of a cult. She claimed her violent past had taught her "how to survive and not be a victim." She seemed slightly unsettled by having someone ask about her life and her choices, and claimed her instincts had kept her alive and she didn't plan on changing. She clearly had never had anyone in her life she could trust or rely on, and believed everyone was either out to get her or wanted something from her (or both).
Grunt provided schematics for a shotgun that was so powerful only he could use it without breaking an arm. His ongoing quest to find a purpose in life led him to the conclusion that he really hates turians (understandable, given the history between the two races), but not much else. According the dossiers their next recruit was a turian, so Shepard hoped there wouldn't be any trouble.
Kasumi claimed Burt the Cerberus security guard had been staring at her. She was used to being watched by security, but not like this. Shepard hoped this Burt, whoever he was, didn't end up in the medical bay as a result of an "accidental" Shadow Strike incident. Miranda had schematics for an advanced mineral scanner, and Jacob had some ideas for better armour for the Normandy.
Mordin was settling in nicely, was happy with the lab setup, and with EDI's assistance. He talked a bit about his work in the Special Tasks Group and running the clinic after his "retirement". He had once worked under Captain Kirrahe, head of the STG squad that helped Shepard destroy Saren's base on Virmire, but didn't share Shepard's opinion of his "hold the line" speeches. His STG work had involved study of the genophage, to ensure that if it mutated and weakened, the galaxy could be prepared. Omega Jack and Kasumi accompanied Shepard back to Omega, to recruit "Archangel", another of the dossiers provided by the Illusive Man. They headed to Afterlife to see if Aria could provide any intel on how to find him, but on the way ran into the infamous Captain Gavorn. He had noticed that there were a lot fewer vorcha around, and suspected Shepard might have had something to do with it. His job - keeping the vorcha from bothering Aria - was a lot more boring now, but he didn't seem too broken up about it.
Grizz, one of Aria's guards, informed Shepard that Aria had a job for her. The Blood Pack mercenary gang was after the Patriarch, and Aria didn't want to deal with it herself as protecting the krogan herself might make her look weak. She wanted to get Patriarch into hiding; instead, Shepard, Jack and Kasumi joined the Patriarch's krantt and took out the assassins on his behalf, making him look like a "powerful warlord with forces at his command." Maybe that would teach Aria not to treat her like some hired goon.
Aria didn't hold a grudge, and was willing to chat despite Shepard's solution to the Patriarch's problem being "not what I asked". She still wasn't giving up any information about her past, but a few of the things she said revealed more than the likely realized and raised certain suspicions in Shepard - how she'd rather change her identity than go against a friend, how Patriarch wasn't the first krogan she tangled with, and the way she told Shepard "better luck next time". Shepard wondered if she should tell Wrex that she might have a lead on his old friend "Aleena".
Aria revealed that the mercenary gangs of Omega had all teamed up to take out "Archangel", and they were recruiting freelancers to assist, so joining up provided the best way to get to him. The Blue Suns were involved - because of course they were - along with the Blood Pack and Eclipse. She didn't know much about the Archangel himself, other than he was a vigilante who had created problems for all of the criminal gangs.
Shepard and her team went to the Blue Suns recruiting office and joined up. They'd earn 500 credits each for the job, enough to buy a new fish on the Citadel. Totally worth it. The Suns were obviously willing to pay top dollar to attract exceptional talent for this job. On their way out a teenager came in looking to sign up. He had just bought a pistol for 50 credits (one-tenth of a fish, obviously a high quality firearm), which Shepard broke to prevent him from throwing his life away. (Shepard was no economist, but these prices seemed a little off to her. She'd try and remember to ask Barla Von about it next time she saw him). Omega - Recruit Archangel A Blue Suns driver took Shepard, Jack and Kasumi to the district where Archangel's hideout was located. They were told to find Sgt Cathka for instructions. On the way to Cathka they ran into Jaroth, the local Eclipse boss, who provided a bit of info on the company, Archangel, and the operation. The Eclipse hideout had a data-pad that implied the leaders of the three merc bands were planning on taking on Aria once Archangel was out of the way.
Shepard hacked into a security room and reprogrammed a heavy mech's targeting systems - Eclipse would get a nasty surprise if they deployed it against Archangel.
Garm, head of the Blood Pack on Omega, claimed he was the only one of the merc bosses to fight Archangel one-on-one. He had a low opinion of Archangel, the other merc bands, Shepard, and pretty much everyone / everything else in the galaxy.
At the Blue Suns headquarters, their leader Tarak called Shepard "scum" and told her to get out of his face. Shepard was tempted to ask him if he'd heard from Jedore or Kuril lately, and suggest he might want to watch his tone. Instead she spoke to his second in command, Jentha, who described how Archangel almost succeeded in taking out Tarak in his home. That, and his constant disruption to their operations, explained why the gangs were so desperate to take out the vigilante (and why Tarak was so on edge).
Shepard found Cathka, and by playing dumb and asking questions about the operation, got him to reveal the details of their plan. As they were finishing their conversation, the first phase of the operation was launched - the freelancers, including Shepard, Jack and Kasumi, went over the bridge toward Archangel's hideout, looking to distract him so that infiltration teams could penetrate the base defences.
Naturally, things didn't go quite as the mercs planned. By the time the other freelancers realized Shepard and company were helping Archangel, most of them were down and the team was heading into the vigilante's hideout. Once they eliminated the freelancers and infiltration teams, "Archangel" revealed himself to be none other than Shepard's old friend Garrus Vakarian. He had become fed up with the red tape on the Citadel (again), and had formed a vigilante squad to take on the criminal gangs on Omega.
Eclipse began their attack on the base, but with 3 extra fighters on his team, Garrus' chances were much better despite the exhaustion he was feeling after hours of fighting. The four of them took out all the Eclipse mercs, including Jaroth who had also had the reprogrammed heavy mech to contend with.
As they considered their next move, the Blood Pack forced their way through Garrus' defences in the basement. Shepard went to head them off bringing Jack with her, much to Kasumi's disappointment as she had been "looking forward to crawling around in dark basement." (Maybe next time, Kasumi). Shepard and Jack were able to lock the shutter doors in the basement to prevent more Blood Pack from getting in, and Kasumi and Garrus held off Garm long enough to allow them to take care of the remaining Blood Pack forces and then get back and help take the Blood Pack leader down.
Garrus was glad Garm was defeated, claiming he was the toughest krogan he'd ever fought. They were about to make a break for it when the Blue Suns launched their attack, including a gunship flown by Tarak himself. A rocket from the gunship wounded Garrus, and Shepard, Jack and Kasumi had to take down Jentha, the rest of the Blue Suns and Tarak's gunship before they could tend to him. With the merc bands defeated, they returned to the Normandy to get treatment for Garrus' injuries, which looked bad. Normandy Jacob confirmed that the injuries suffered by Garrus were serious, but the doctor was able to get him fixed up and he should make a full recovery. He was impressed with how tough Garrus was - the turian joined them in the conference room as they were talking. Garrus was hurting but in good spirits otherwise. He had some concerns about joining up with Cerberus, as did Shepard, but as always was ready to get down to work.

Currently stuck on Gei Hinnom trying to save an injured quarian from a gaggle of hungry varren. Yeah, this is more difficult than all of Overlord put together.
dmc1001 Successfully pistol-whipped Gavin Archer and sent David to Grissom Academy. The former definitely sounded a little Loghain-y but the voice wasn't as deep or confident-sounding.

Keep shooting those bastards. And remember, one of them could one day be Jack's pet. Yay for Gavin Archer being slapped down! It's funny because in my very first playthrough of the entire series I was afraid to make any Renegade choices. A year later and I love doing some nasty things to people - but only the ones who deserve it.

All right - finally made it off Gei Hinnom. Man, what a horrible mission on Insanity.
Jacob found what used to be his father. Took the bastard into Alliance custody. Helped Jack get her head screwed on straight. Left Aresh alive. Grunt is now Urdnot Grunt. Killed the thresher maw. Head-butted Uvenk. Helped Mordin track down Maelon. Left Maelon alive, kept the data.
Next stop: back to the Citadel to stop an assassination.
That's my last loyalty mission (until I get Legion). Think I'll do Shadow Broker after that, then explore the last couple of systems before heading for the IFF.

Busy day for Lilith Shepard, infiltrator, ME3I took Garrus and James with me to Grissom Academy, now under attack by Cerberus. Specialist Traynor was very useful in pointing out the threat. The mission went well, and, to our surprise, the instructor defending the remaining biotic teenagers was... Jack. No other than my crazier than me good friend Jack. We made our way to the escape shuttle, crushing the remaining Cerberus troops on the station, with biotic students letting loose and throwing everything they got to Cerberus. We found David Archer in one of the hallways; I was glad to see he’s fine and I convinced him to help with the Crucible. Had some fun in the end in an Atlas stolen from Cerberus – nice to fight the enemies with their own weapons. Lilith dispatching an Energy Drain to some unfortunate Cerberus: I took my time to search the systems nearby for resources and survivors. We recovered the Shadow Broker Wet Squad Barla Von mentioned and some kind of turian banner. I’m sure I’ll find somebody on the Citadel who knows what to do with it. More Cerberus on Tuchanka, so before going to save Lt. Victus‘ ass, we went down to investigate. There are some old krogan cannons there, and Cerberus wanted to put their hands on them. Naturally, didn’t let them and used the cannons to take down a Cerberus frigate. Point for us, again. I decided to try EDI’s new body in combat and took her and Garrus to extract the turian survivors. Garrus and EDI exchanged some thoughts on the burden of father celebrity and military failure while fighting reapers and saving Victus‘ men. We took down 4 harvesters, a brute and countless cannibals, marauders and husks to get to them, but none of them put any problem to us. EDI’s new body seems to be fit for combat. We found Victus‘ platoon on the edge of starting a riot. Listening to Victus, it looked to me that he didn’t have much of a choice – casualties were to be expected either path open to him. What’s more troubling is the fact there’s a huge bomb – presumably Cerberus – and they were sent to defuse it. I yelled at Victus – he seemed to forget he’s in charge over his men – and finally he put his men back in line. We’ll probably accompany them in this bomb mission. Primarch Victus refused to tell me anything about this bomb. I’m in dark here, and I hate this. **** On a side note, I’ve always had a biotic in my squad. Is the first time I try without any (Garrus + EDI / James) and it went flawlessly. And I'm playing with Expanded Galaxy Mod installed (I admit, some small advantages coming from this mod, making Insanity even easier than before) and it was so nice to play with Jack in my squad for one mission. And my ship feels alive. I have soldiers all around, a cook, another doctor (and much more features to discover). I like it, good job modders.

I hate this mission, even more than Horizon and all collector missions altogether. Took me countless attempts and experimenting with squadmates until I managed to finish it on insanity.

Miriam Shepard visited an asari temple...
Met with the asari councillor; learned of an artefact sealed in the Temple of Athame on Thessia that may provide information about the Catalyst. Received instructions to meet a science team at the temple. Councillor seemed cagey; temple off-limits to all except highest-ranking government officials.
Returned to the Normandy and ordered best speed to Thessia. Arrived to find Reapers flooding the system, dropping troops in a large invasion force. Took a shuttle to the surface with Liara and Ashley. Learned from Liara that the temple holds relics supposedly left by Athame's prophets Janiri and Lucen, traditionally believed to have brought civilization to the asari.
Landed in the middle of a war zone; asari ground troops scattered by overwhelming Reaper ground forces. Fought through fierce resistance including Banshees and Harvesters; observed destroyer-class Reapers touching down. Liara understandably distressed; assault on Thessia far more serious than early stages of invasion of Earth.
Arrived at temple to find it under military-grade lockdown; overridden by Liara using Shadow Broker protocols. Found science team inside, throats cut, not consistent with Reaper tactics. Examined relics, including murals and busts of prophets. Athame and prophets clearly Prothean; Liara shocked by revelation that modern asari are product of Prothean uplift.
Statue of Athame contained Prothean beacon; responded to cipher, activated "Vendetta" VI. Vendetta explained that Prothean war effort failed largely due to indoctrinated separatists who believed in controlling Reapers rather than destroying them. Indicated that Reapers are not in control of 50,000-year cycle but are merely part of something more fundamental; correlates with history revealed by Leviathan race. Vendetta shut down before revealing Catalyst information due to nearby indoctrinated presence.
Cerberus agent Kai Leng revealed himself; had killed science team and waited for beacon activation. Activated comm link with Illusive Man who could not be convinced to join the fight; insisted that controlling Reapers is possible. Cerberus gunship attacked temple, overwhelmed Normandy party, permitting Kai Leng to escape with Vendetta.
Returned to Normandy as more Reaper destroyers landed on surface. Watched Thessia fall.
Loss of Vendetta to Cerberus is a career low. Spoke to Anderson on the comm; received pep talk. Felt better.
Yelled at Joker for making a sick joke about asari. Received pep talk in return. Felt better, amazingly.
Broke up a heated argument between Liara and Javik about the true nature of asari civilization. Persuaded Javik to give Liara pep talk. She returned to her cabin. Visited her in private and gave her another pep talk, assuring her that she alone could not have prevented Thessia's fall, and the war is not yet lost.
Anyone else need a pep talk?
[Took Ashley rather than BSN-favourite Javik from a role-playing point of view, reasoning that Liara would appreciate having a friend along.
Three deaths on this mission, and two of them were at the very beginning for failing the barrier defence. That was a lot harder than I expected on insanity! The third death was during the Kai Leng fight when I found myself out of cover when the gunship started shooting.
I had to play most of the battles here quite cautiously; especially immediately before the temple, under constant fire from Ravagers and Harvesters. Did that by sticking to cover and mainlining medi-gel...
I did manage some vanguarding in the bit with the first Banshee; basically pinballed around from Cannibal to Marauder, staying out of the way of the Banshee, then finished her off when the field was clear. The second Banshee managed to corner me and I expected to get synced, but it turns out that dealing enough damage to get her out of sync mode is actually pretty easy when one's character is set up for damage-over-time and firesplosions.]

In another thread I mentioned I've never did a weaponless trilogy playthrough. I have played through ME2/3 without using a weapon, but not in ME1. So I will start today.
It will be called, The Weaponless Playthrough.
