I've read on some forums that this could be one of the top 1 handed swirds in game. When crafting how do i maximize its potential Sigh ... Revered Defender Longsword cannot be upgraded. So, to know what is "top", you have to compare with the best 1H weapon than can be upgraded, and compare slot counts and types. I don't have time to do the full comparison, but before you believe anything you read, just count up the crafting slots in the schematic VERSUS something like the Axe of Green Edges with the two best upgrades you can find. It could be that Revered still has the best counts/types, or it could be the upgraded 1H axe does after it is upgraded. Claims need to have numeric proof before they can be believed.

Okay, I have time now. This is the sort of chart you should make to determine which schematic is "best". I'm assuming the Masterwork Ornate One-Handed Haft Schematic is used for axes or maces, and the Masterwork Skull Grip Schematic for swords Schematic | Damage | Weapon | Upgrades | Total | Crafting Options | Revered Defender Longsword | 20 | Offense Metal: 21 Offense Leather: 9 | N/A | Damage: 20 Offense Metal: 21 Offense Leather: 9 | 21 Attack 9 Crit | Axe of Green Edges | 18 | Offense Leather: 14 | Utility Metal: 12 | Damage: 18 Offense Metal: 0 Offense Leather: 14 Utility Metal: 12 | 6 Attack 14 Crit | Mortalitasi Firm Club | 18 | Offense Metal: 14 | Utility Metal: 12 | Damage: 18 Offense Metal: 14 Offense Leather: 0 Utility Metal: 12 | 20 Attack | Masterwork Tevinter Longsword
| 17 | Offense Metal: 4 Offense Leather: 4 Utility Metal: 6 | Offense Metal: 9 Utility Metal: 3 | Damage: 17 Offense Metal: 13 Offense Leather: 4 Utility Metal: 6 | 16 Attack 4 Crit |
AnalysisRevered has a clear advantage in base damage (20 vs 18, 17) and in total Offense Metal (21, closest is 14). However, Green Edges has more Leather Offense (14 vs 9) and Green Edges and Mortalitasi tie for most Utility Metal (12 vs 0). The Masterwork Tevinter sword is the only sword in the table besides Revered and it kind of spreads its slots over all three categories. So it will depend somewhat on what buffs you want to craft for. In the Crafting Options column, Offense Metal is traded 1-to-1 for Attack, Offense Leather 1-to-1 for Crit (either Chance or Damage), Utility Metal is traded 2-for-1 for Attack. Using those assumptions, Revered is the top for Attack at 21, but the Mortalitasi is only behind by 1 (20). Closer than it would appear from the slots analysis, because of the Utility Metal slots. Given that putting Strength into Utility Metal also gains 1-to-1 for Guard Damage bonus, it's even closer. Green Edges is top for Crit. Summary- Revered is top for base damage
- Revered is top for Attack, but Mortalitasi is only behind by 1 and has an extra bonus of 1-to-1 for Guard Damage
- Green Edges is top for Crit
Overall, Revered does look like the best. The non-upgradeable highest base damage schematic is not the top for other weapon classes, bows and staves in particular, but for 1H weapons, it appears to be so.
