Babylon 5 Discussion: Special Poll Edition!

Okay, now seeing another thing that seems Mass Effect-related. Mind you, I'm loving this series on its own terms but I love seeing how great the influence of it is on Mass Effect. Since some people think I'm spoiler things without tags, I'll put it under them.

The search can be a little wonky. I've had some successes using the advanced search. If you click the search button before typing anything in, you'll get a popup with a few filters. Might help narrow things down. Right now searching "babylon" no filters did show this thread, and about two pages worth of results (I also tended to name-drop the show or reference it just about anywhere so that might account for some of the results )

Anyway, we're all set now. This thread isn't always on the front page, but I believe you have options to keep track of it. If you go to the op, and click actions you should have a bookmark option. I just tried it and that created a new option on the navbar for me where I could see my bookmarks. So you could use that to keep track of your favorite threads.

Ehh. Not really. I can argue that the Shadows would really, really hate the Reapers, thought the aesthetic and methods are obviously inspired.

Wait until you finish the series, and then we can talk.

Based on where I am now, I'm not so sure the Vorlons are especially better.  Different but...well, maybe not so nice in the end.

In S4.  Lyta has said she doesn't think the Vorlons care anymore about the younger races, having their own agenda.  Plus, the massive force in hyperspace.

Actually just starting S4E4 right this moment.  So my ideas proved correct.

I realized earlier that means you've seen Sheridans EPIC speech.

JMS got his start with Comics and even has done some comic things since...for DC I think? He even made a cameo in Thor.

As far as his other influences B5 is basically Lord of the Rings in space.

Marcus noted some King Arthur parallels, as I recall 

Edit:  The season 4 finale "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars" has definite 1984 and A Canticle for Leibowitz cribbing as well.

Hmm. Would definitely watch something with Bruce Boxleitner, Mira Furlan and Bill Mumy. We'll have to see if anything comes of it though.
