I'm currently at a dead stop with B5. Once the war ended and Sheridan became...something...it just hasn't had the same feel to it. Is there more to come that will knock my socks off? Sheridan does have one more kick ass speech left...and the last episode is a good kind of heart wrenching.

Are you at season 5? The last season is a notable dip in quality. This is mostly due to studio shenanigans cancelling B5 in season 4 and then going "nvm lol", after JMS and co had already busted their ass trying to cram everything into 4. Hence why 4 goes at breakneck speed and 5 seems like an afterthought. There's still two arcs in 5, one which is decent, the other kind of cringey. And a few, really good episodes. And of course the finales for both seasons are the best you could hope for as conclusions to the world and characters respectively.

Yes, I'm in S5. Early on. The war(s) are over. As noted, Season 5 suffered from their squishing two seasons worth of content into Season 4. But I'd say the last half dozen episodes, which winds everything down and simultaneously sets up future contents was quite good, I though.

"Sleeping in Light" is how ME3 should have ended. Well.. you'd need "Into the Fire" first. And to get that, you need to actually set up your arc properly and know what the hell your villains are about, instead of procrastinating till teh last minute and then going on a bad drug and/or caffeine trip. And for fuck's sake, if there was ever one video game protagonist that could win by telling his enemies to "get the hell out of our galaxy!" it's Commander "Freakin Red/Blue Dialogue Options" Shepard. /vestigial rage

There's one about a colony of telepaths on the station. That's the cringey one imo. And a second about shenanigans going down on Centauri Prime. That's the decent one, but it starts later.

I thought Destroy was that message to the Reapers. They're still around under every other choice. Fuck no. Was Sheridan allowed to walk into an explosion like an idiot? Did the Vorlons/Shadows go "ok you can do this, but you're still fucking children who'll fall on your ass without us" with Sheridan having no comeback? Did they then proceed to blow up all the White Stars and Jump Gates, because fuck you? Destroy was a goddamn insult. You still capitulated to the holokid, you still tacitly admitted his little bullshit "problem" was real and you ambiguously died for it, while setting everyone back at least a decade or so (oh and also committing genocide, if you hadn't already, just for good measure) Sheridan on the other hand told them all to go blow it out their ass, we'll find our own way. And that's exactly what they did. Even with Deconstruction of Falling Stars hinting at cycles, and humans becoming Vorlon-like eventually, it's still better because we did it on our terms. Destroy fucking sucks. At least with Control, the tacit agreement is countered by the fact that I shove the holokid aside and take the reigns myself with no collateral damage (or at least none that I can't undo). Except for the general failure of the ending, that has aspects that are closer to B5 than Destroy.

Except for the general failure of the ending, that has aspects that are closer to B5 than Destroy. For all we know, all Shepard did was allow the Starbrat to scan their brain, figure out how they think and create a new avatar in Shepard's image. Rather than "Shepard" becoming the Overmind of the Reapers, the Starbrat still might exist and control the Reapers, the only difference is that now it thinks like Shepard (so much it thinks it is Shepard).
But even if that is Shepard's consciousness uploaded into and overwriting the Starbrat, that has it's own set of problems.
As the old adage goes about how absolute power corrupts... what happens if and when the people of the Milky Way don't like the way that Reaper!Shepard does things? Will they step aside and let people make their own choices, or instead step-in periodically to enforce their will on the galaxy "for the greater good"?
The Renegade Control speech definitely has a sense of "It's my way or the highway" from now on, but even Paragon Control comes across as a benevolent dictatorship. How does Paragon ReaperShep hope to enforce peace between the races? If there is a war between two races would Reaper!Shepard take a side and if so, which one?
If all it would take to get both sides to stand down in a war is the Reaper armada showing up to remind everyone that "YES, I'M STILL WATCHING", then how can we say it's a good thing? Because while Reaper!Shep might have secured peace in the Milky Way, it has come at the expense of enslaving the population and making them live in perpetual fear.
(On the other hand, you could avoid all these issues by blowing the Reapers up and breaking the Cycle for good)

sigh Even six years later, it's the same thing. Kindly check this out: bsn.boards.net/thread/638/eternal-infinite-immortal-crutchcrickets-controlDon't want to derail this thread with an ending debate, of all things.

I know, some people still refuse to accept Destroy as the only correct choice.
But agreed, let us return to B5 and return the ending debate to the section of the forum that's soundproofed for everyone else's sake.

No Walter Koenig? Shameful display! Fun facts: Ed Wasser (Mr. Morden) quit acting and founded his own construction company. Robert (formerly Wortham) Krimmer (Cartagia) quit acting and became a lawyer. I wonder if any of his clients are B5 fans

"I want to stop running through my life like a man late for an appointment, afraid to- to look back, or to look forward"
yeah i know the context is everything in the scene and we get to see the extent of Londo's sense and sincerity of his patriotism for the first time here, and the foreboding whats gonna come, but it's that quick spot on remark along with it that resonates most with me. A simple yet an elegant analogy, a memorable line delivered by the series favourite-est character.
