I've only played a few games, but I've managed to discover stuff that was more embarassing. The scoreboard for sure. That moment when I recalled that I did read about not running with the object to be deposited. The aha! feeling after finding out what happens if you investigate a smarmy thinggie. Mistargeting overload or drone in front of my own nose instead of the target. The "wait! Were did everyone go?" Many laughs I foresee. overall, I am deeply impressed by how fast the games pop & by how darn impressive everyone else is. I just hope we don't lose you to talking about MP only now. That tends to happen But I can't blame anyone. That is what is keeping the game alive after all these years. I'm curious on your future single player experiences. Oh, I want to know what happens next. I spent my whole morning fighting a glitch after the Get into the Mind of the Geth mission, because first I found myself with a pistol only, then the bench was broke and would not show my gun collection. But I finally googled the wise advice to just restart the game, and yay, out I went with my guns newly blazing... To shut the game down, since I ran out of time. Riveting, I tell ya, riveting. I'm going to be clearing sidequests that piled up a foot high again, for the next couple of days, so nothing much to talk about. but I'll keep reading the more eventful logs from the good folks here. I might also just fire up the char creator and build my dream male Shepard (well, make that Tali's dream guy) for the meaner and leaner spin of MET.

:: Memories of Cornelius / Part ____ ::
I do have to say tremendous days are those which simply happen and are not made by your influence.
I have spent the greater amount of my day on the ship when the craving for a finely brewed Tasera'I espresso overcame me like the Rachni invasion. Without a hesitation, under the appropriate excuse of a formal meeting, I've ordered the ship to turn 180° from the civilian slaughter on Benning to the Citadel.
Our entry however was not as amusing, it appears my mood after waking up on the wrong side of the queen-size bed has also set in with Cerberus who have laid siege upon the presidium and most of the entire C-Sec (not that I blame them, the entire place is a crime to architectural style)...
Regardless of that I didn't bother. I've told my team to wait while I go disable lower defenses so the Normandy may approach...
I LIED.
My first goal was nowhere near C-Sec or the battles, rather more my favorite café !
The barista which always poured a little hearth of milk on top of my order was sadly not present, for his body was pierced to the floor in a poodle of blood (I am going to give the customer rating a 2 out of 5 for poor service), a fairly pleasing sight since there was one less person making advances towards me. With me having brewed my own beverage and sat down on the balcony to enjoy my evening, I could hardly overcome the noise of the battle expanding on the other end of the Presidium...
Truth be told the screams have been soul shattering, I mean why does a dying person waste so much breath on screaming when they could literally conserve oxygen for the rest of their life.
The breeze of burning skycars and gunships has been refreshing just like my sweet Tasera'I espresso.
That is until my life shrunk to the size of a needle when my face was met with a red laser dot aiming right at me... ... THAT CERBERUS $&^*@! SHOT MY MUG !
I am a patient person, very patient, but saying that I colored the walls with her head would be a criminal understatement. With my day in ruins and the Citadel following suit, it was time to begin actually cleaning up other peoples problems AGAIN.
Overall I give the Patrion Café a 2/5 star rating.

An fun night out with Garrus and it's back to work, no rest for the wicked. It's time to see what the Brysons have dug up. It turns out the Leviathans live under water so it was time to go for a swim. That all got a bit creepy, plus Garrus and Kaidan both got a little overprotective. Probably just as well, if there's one thing scarier than the Reapers, i think we found it. (Jen may be officially with Garrus, but I get the impression Kaidan hasn't given up. Last time i did this i'm sure Ash got all the dialogue. ) After that was done with it back to the apartment where Kaidan offered to cook me dinner and Liara came round to play the piano. I'm gotta go, C-Sec want to talk to me about a Krogan birthday party....

Shawna Shepard: 1. Went to a Reaper corpse to pick up a Reaper IFF. Found a lot husks and a Geth platform that offered greetings. Picked up the Reaper IFF, destroyed the core, then jumped ship the the Geth platform before the Reaper crashed into the planet.
Fun note: I wanted to destroy the Reaper core with the Cain, but a husk got in the way of the shot.
2. Activated the Geth platform. EDI named it Legion.
3. Raided an outpost overrun with Blue Suns mercs. Found a Prothean artifact. It gave Shawna another vision.
4. Legion wanted to take out some heretic Geth. Cool! Boarded a space station, killed some Geth, started the station's self-destruct sequence, then booked it out of there.
5. Broke up an argument between Tali and Legion by threatening them. They're friends now.
6. Decided to take a quick break with the squad while the crew installed the Reaper IFF. Came back to an empty Normandy. What the heck did you do, Joker?

I'm home from my trip with more random observations!
--Being Paragade has been actually very easy to do. I do the big paragon actions (rachni queen, Feros, ect) but I pick the options to talk back a lot. I also find it funny to see Sheploo yelling at people to get his way. I did do the Lorik glitch, but I was literally a 1/3rd of a bar higher in Paragon over Renegade. I'm continuing that trend.
--I left Liara at home for Noveria this time. I'm kinda glad I did. My current Shep doesn't dislike her, but he lacks the sense of her being a "little sister" that my previous Shepard have had. In his eyes, she's a good scientist but has no business being out in combat. I'll share my RP thoughts about her in ME2.
--Ashley and Tali went with me to Noveria. Benezia is less chatty and Ashley really pushed Shep to melt the rachni queen. I wasn't going to go that route, but I appreciated the bluntness of her objections.
--After level 25, I got into the swing of the biotic class. I'm having a lot of fun with it, especially with Warp Specialization going.
--Game crashed after exploring several different planets and completing quests. Grr. At least my saves aren't corrupted.
--Finally got some biotic amp and omni-tool upgrades. The Predator armor is beginning to show up, but no light human yet.

And with that, Kirstin has finished the Mass Effect trialogy. Woo. *Blows confetti* Ended up finishing Rannoch, Thessia and starting Leviathan after the last session. This thread is bad influence. Get's me in a dreaded loop of wanting to play, so I can chat about it and after chatting about it I want to play some more. Anywho, then yesterday, Kirstin finished Leviathan, meeting her greatest enemy: The Ladder. Poor girl took about 10 minutes to get down one ladder. Not like she hadn't used a million of them before, but that one was just diabolical. Ended having to avoid eye contact with it by staring at the air when approaching and climbing down it. Rest went smooth as butter. Also visited Horizon and did the Citadel DLC. Kirstin was very disappointed in the last boss, it went down way too quickly. She was better than that D: But afterwards she got to harass Kaidan and the rest of the crew, so it was all good. She also got a pretty mod outfit, since hearing Kaidan comment "Nice outfit" on the admiral suit she'd worn for the whole damn game really bothered me. So she got a proper nice outfit for him to fawn over. And today, she parked her butt in TIM's fanciest chair and then did the last missions in the game. Some musing on the ending, spoilers ahoy. Picked destroy, because red was always her favorite color. I do wish there was a mod that skipped the chat with spacebrat, but still gave you the option to choose between endings. It wouldn't make much sense story wise, but the kid just really ticks me off. This time I had JhonP alternate ending mods installed, but I actually prefer the normal ending. That is, I really enjoy the mod, until after they find Shepard. It just feels better for me to have Shepard end up dying instead of surviving. Is that bad? Still I like that they went looking and found the body since I prefer Shepard buried in dirt rather than rubble.
Oh. And it took Kirsten more than 6 tries to kill Marauder Shields. D: More than 6 tries. And once the Husks got her. I wanted to cry. Doubt I'll be playing Carter anytime soon, since during all the mission I felt this dread over having to go through them with a Vanguard. I really, really don't want to. But I'll do it one day. For Miranda. Because she has Warp AND Overload. Oh and a nice smile. Since she wont be creeping no more:

Jeff Shepard assisted fellow Spectre Jondam Bau in a search for a hanar plot. Once we tracked the hanar down we confronted him but he'd placed a virus that would destroy the hanar defenses. Stopped it in time to save the hanar homeworld but not before Bau was murdered. Headed out to Grissom Academy to investigate what Traynor, and then EDI, believed was a false signal. It had been invaded by Cerberus, who was trying to take both the smartest students and biotic students under their control. I followed the direction of Kahlee Sanders, who was an old friend of Anderson. This led me to Jack, who had been put in charge of biotic students while I was locked up on Earth. She led her biotic students to safety while myself, Garrus and EDI fought off Cerberus forces. They were all recruited to the war effort, though Jack and her students went to support roles. Way too young to be on the front lines.
Had a chat with Kaidan, who accepted the position of Spectre. I can see why it's important to have another human in this position, but Kaidan has shown courage under fire and has done whatever was necessary to get the job done. He'll be perfect.
Convinced Eclipse second-in-command Sayn to eliminate his boss upon release, thus getting Eclipse on my side while removing a potential threat from a psychotic asari.
Met with Urdnot Wreav of the krogan, Primarch Victus of the turians and salarian dalatrass to discuss the terms of bringing krogan to the aid of the turians. Wreav dropped a bomb and said he wanted a cure for the genophage and that he was aware that a salarian named Maelon had found one. Further, the krogan females he'd tested on were alive and being help by the salarians. Victus made it clear the turians would be enemies of the salarians if the krogan didn't come to the aid of the turians. Even she couldn't allow that to happen. The females were on Sur'kesh and, as a Council Spectre, I had the authority to go in and get them. It wasn't an easy job since Cerberus chose that time to attack. They were also after the females, but apparently to kill them rather than save them. We saved the one remaining female. I'm generally on board with curing the genophage but I can't say I trust Wreav with leaving the krogan to a better future for everyone.

Finally got access to the renegade diplomacy quest. I ended up going paragon, but I'm not going to next time. What an ass. "Lord" Darius. Give me break. And for the second time today, my game decided to crash and locked up the PS3. I was in the elevator in the Normandy after leaving the Citadel and my game hung. Same place as earlier. I'm glad I left auto-save on for situations like this.

I took James with me this time when we went to find Ann Bryson. James is so sweet with her back at the citadel that I wanted him to have more time with her in the lead up to that. A Little Thing I Just Discovered in the Bryson camp was 5000 credits. I want to get the dialogue with Javik on the Normandy about pheromones. Is there a particular dialogue path to get it to trigger? Or is it after a certain mission? While I wait for this I will start a new femshep (been awhile)and i will name her Troian because I've been bingeing Pretty LIttle Liars on netflix.Got Netflix but no chill

I lost power for about 2 hours last night. It was chilly out and there was nothing to do, so I slept. I'll be doing Feros later today. Then I'm going to save, exit and shutdown the PS3 to prevent another memory leak crash. Then BDtS, save/exit/shutdown, then Virmire. Kaidan is the one that isn't coming home this time. I have this odd tendency of not using the Virmire sacrifice in my party once I know they aren't going to make it to ME3. I didn't use Ashley at all after getting Garrus and Wrex on my solider; and it's the same with Kaidain here.
I noticed a bug. I once again made sure that all of the stoned scientists made it out okay. I thought about letting one or two die, but my Shep has a thing about saving innocents to the point of naivety. When I got back to the Citadel to shop (right before my game crash,) the Galactic News in the elevator mentioned it. However, they described it as a "massacre" after the researchers opened fire. I think Alex would have remembered if things had gone that wrong.

<comes in slightly fuming>
I thought I did everything right. I thought I avoided the romance with Ashley. Nope! I got ninjamanced. I'm not leaving her to die on Virmire, so now I have to have Alex be a complete jerk to her. I'm not going to have him cheat on Ashley. My own moral code of "you break up before you cheat" sticks here.
Great, my Tali-mance might have to wait. Apparently one poorly choosen dialogue option is all it took for her to ninjamance my unwitting Shepard. This hasn't happened since my first run, when I accidentally started both Kaidan and Liara's romances in ME1.
I know I can break it off during the Normandy lockdown, but I don't want to have my Shep become a total asshole. I might just have to reload the save I thankfully made just before talking to Ash this latest time and avoid her for the rest of the game. From what I looked up, the only surefire way to avoid a ninjamance is to not talk to Ash at all. I even think I know what conversation inadvertently set my character on this path.
If it's too late, then Shep is going to be breaking it off with Ashley. He sees Ashley as a good friend and ally in combat, but not his type. Decisions, decisions.
Dang it. This is why I enjoy the icon system that the BW devs put in DA:I. I hope they leave the icons in for ME:A.

:: Memories of Cornelius / Part ____ ::
Snow, snow and MORE SNOW. You'd expect a monastery to be surrounded by glorious waterfalls on garden planets with sights that would make the richest person in the galaxy jealous and looking for real estates... But noooooooooo... I get asked to visit a Monastery, and it is a creepy mansion ride in the middle of Syberia/Noveria's bastard lovechild. It was an experience that you'd expect from a "be woken up in the middle of the night to do X" assignment for someone barely brave enough to walk out of their office without guards. I picked up my thermos of coffee, favorite Phalanx pistol and I stole the Cision toothbrush. (the one I bought Traynor solely for the purpose of stealing it in the end)
Flying to a monastery in the middle of the mountains only took 17 minutes during which I managed to get the makeup on, clean my teeth, do my hair and look prettier than the rest of what awaited me. The landing itself brought up questions as to : - Why is there a running Skycar parked outside.
- Why do I have no fancy Skycar to fly around.
- Why does this place smell like fish ?!
Regardless of that I have made my way through the CLIFF HOUSE OF SPOOKS only to end up stepping over a lot of dead Asari, crumpled up notes and the stench of arrogance.
What I did not know at the time is that a pleasant surprise awaited me (or rather not pleasant since the person I've met cannot zip up properly) , it was dear auntie Samara ! My favorite "Blueberry Top" justicar with as much respect for her code as my respect for being cynical.
I've been doing the rest of my travels alone since biotics apparently can fly down flights of stairs but don't have the brain cells to stop a falling handsome person like me...
On my way I encountered more dead bodies than I know what to build with, more credit chits than I requested with most of them being expired debit cards, and tall screaming teleporting scarecrows !
There is no need to underline that I was especially glad when we found a little helper and then blew the hell out of the building back to the North Pole. Truth be told, neither Blueberry Sam nor her little "could be my mother" aged child have gone along well.
She had issues regarding homeless Asari and before I knew it she desecrated my Phalanx (not by shooting herself rather than holding it in the first place)...
At this point any sensible person would simply give a hug, pat on the back, some cookies... Then again my senses have been taken when I fell down a flight of stairs ! It has become obvious that having to arrange transportation and new identities for her daughter was no longer my job like it was in the past with a lot of well paying fugitives, there is also the fact that I actually honor THE code which states "If you can shoot, then please don't scoot.".The code said yes, the other code said yes, my Phalanx said yes, the Asari said no. We are living in a democratic universe so I took a few seconds to let her say goodbye before nailing her head into the floor plates and posing their corpses into an improvised chair. It may not seem appropriate to take two dead Asari, snap their bones into place and turn them into a reclining chair but I needed something to relax on and finish the rest of my thermos. Overall the day turned out to be fine. I have one less acquaintance to deal with and one less real estate scam to worry about in the future.

I like the icons too, especially as a "fair warning" in case you want to avoid a ninjamance. However, I don't like when the flirt line acts as a substitute for all other response options. Sometimes I want to say A/B/C and then flirt, or vice versa. It's really bad in the Solas romance in DAI, where if you don't take specific flirts to the exclusion of all other responses, you are locked out of the romance altogether.

Shawna Shepard: 1. Went to Omega, met Samara in an apartment. Talked to the mother of Morinth's latest victim and examined her belongings.
2. Went to a nightclub. Punched a few Turians which attracted Morinth's attention. Chatted with Morinth and then got invited back to her apartment.
3. Samara arrived at Morinth's apartment and started a fight. Morinth and Samara looked evenly matched. Considered helping Morinth, but in the end helped Samara instead.
4. Saved a ship from crashing because of a Geth attack.
5. Boarded a freighter that had been captured by Blue Suns mercs. Killed the mercs and took the cargo (and a Damage Protection upgrade).
6. Went to a Batarian prison to go rescue Admiral Hackett's friend, Dr. Kenson. Killed a bunch of Batarians on the way in, then killed a whole bunch more on the way out. Kenson took Shawna to an asteroid. She told Shawna about her plan to slam an asteroid into a Mass Relay to stop the Reapers from arriving.
7. Kenson showed Shawna a timer that showed the Reapers would arrive in about two days. Kenson then showed Shawna a Reaper artifact which gave her a vision of the Reapers arriving. Then Kenson ordered the entire project to stop Shepard from activating the project.
8. Shawna fended off several waves of project personnel (lol Tactical Cloak when fighting alone) before the object took her down.
9. Not sure what Cerberus implanted her with, but Shawna woke up despite being sedated and shot her way back out through the project base. Found a terminal and activated the project. Kenson vowed to stop it by overloading the reactor.
10. Fought through the base and stopped the reactor meltdown. Killed Kenson, but was knocked out in an explosion.
11. Woke up with 30 minutes to spare and ran for a shuttle. Killed the remaining personnel that had not escaped, and called the Normandy. Sovereign the creepy Collector thing called to taunt Shepard; Shawna told him off, then got picked up by the Normandy and booked it out of there before the Relay blew up and destroyed the system.
12. Had a chat with Hackett. He thanked her, then told her she was going to be a convenient scapegoat to avoid war with the Batarians.
Shawna is now lounging aboard the Normandy. She's plagued by the thought that there was something important she had forgot to do and OH CRAP SHE FORGOT TO GO THROUGH THE OMEGA-4 RELAY!

An emergency phone call cut-off my ME session today. I'm in the middle of Feros, getting ready to quiz the VI about the Thorian. Things turned out okay, but I've backed off to hang out with my dogs. I'll be starting up both ME1 and laundry in a bit.
After thinking about it, I'm going to stick with Ashley. I've gotten this far, so might as well finish it. However, my plans regarding the ending haven't changed. Oh, this isn't going to go over well with some folks, but I'm only sharing my ending choice here in this thread. It could change, so it's a secret for now.
I've got 10 grenades, so I'm ready to do one of my favorite paragon actions. I love saving all of the Feros colonists. It takes some thought and strategy to do it perfectly, but it's extremely satisfying to me. It also suits Alex. Saving a colony and then purging it of a natural threat is completely his style. Once I've got that done, it's save/exit/shutdown for a bit, then BDtS. I didn't have the DLC when I first played ME1 and now it's one of my favorites in the series.
I ran into an unusual bug the first time I played. Mike, you might remember this one when I posted it back in 2014. The first time I played ME3, Anderson was talking about the Alpha relay explosion. Again, I didn't own BDtS Arrival (thanks to melbella for the correction) at the time.
Anderson: "Hundreds of thousands of batarians died." Shepard: "It was either that or let the Reapers walk right in through our back door." Me: What the fuck did I just miss?
I was really confused. I didn't use Gibbed or anything like that for plot tweaks either. Apparently the line is supposed to be, "After the shit you pulled," if you didn't get BDtS Arrival. It was a cool bug, but I can't tell you why it happened. This was on the Origin version on the PC.

I'm confused....that line in ME3 doesn't have anything to do with BDtS in ME1; it's a reference to Arrival. You get "the shit you pulled" line if Shepard doesn't do Arrival in ME2 or with a non-import game.

I saw Balak without the DLC. Well, technically I did have the DLC, but I didn't know how to activate it at the time. The game assumed that I had left him alive. I didn't have Arrival, and got that line from Anderson. The only DLC I had at the time for the first two ME games was LotSB for the little romance scene with Liara. Thanks for catching that.

Now that one makes sense though I'm not sure it's a bug. Balak is in ME3 if you play BDtS and either 1. let him go to save the hostages or 2. don't let him go (hostages die) but also don't kill him. Default world state in ME2 is the hostages were killed, so it sounds like option 2 is what happened even if you didn't play the DLC yourself. I remember being very confused in ME2 about why I was getting news blips about Kate Bowman but had no idea who she was or why I was supposed to know her. I didn't install/play BDtS until later.
Edit, responding to your edit: getting the line from Anderson about the relay explosion w/o playing Arrival definitely sounds like a bug.

Ah, little things like that make the games that much more amusing sometimes.

<comes in slightly fuming> I thought I did everything right. I dislike breaking up (more so cheating) because I don't want any of my Shepard's being that much jerks. If they could say this stuff gently. Explain the ninjamancing, back out slowly and then run like hell.

I don't consider anything that happens in ME2 to be cheating (unless you romance Liara in ME1 and don't break up with her in LotSB) since VS basically tells Shepard to go to hell on Horizon. That's a break-up in my book, even if dying wasn't.

gottalovemeI've been cheated on before IRL, back before I got married. It stings too much. I'm going to avoid her until Lockdown. If the romance isn't completely locked in, I'll move on. If it is, then I'll probably just romance her. While Alex here is my first male Shepard, it isn't going to be my last. I've been enjoying it quite a bit.

Actually, I only move on to Jack after Vasir punks me out about Cerberus and I get sick of Liara. So maybe it's not cheating.... It was a little weirder trying to romance Ash and Jack, because they hold similar opinions. It's why I think Ash and Miranda make better rivals.. and the story seems to flow that way better (to me anyway). That or stick with the VS.

Finally back Took a mini-break from ME because I played through The Technomancer the last 1,5 weeks. I wanted to play both games at once, but somehow Technomancer captivated me so much that I didn't even touch ME. Cheating topic... yeah, it's no fun in real life, but can be great in games, or at least character-building. My MShep who romanced Ashley was a complete self-centered flirty asshole indecent man and he took girls for granted. But then he met Jack and he finally fell in love (yes yes, it was sappy, but so great as well ). I was surprised at the "break-up" with Ash during ME3 in the hospital. Saying it's a fresh start for both comes across as very accepting at both ends, and with Horizon in between, it's a good dialogue. I didn't play a lot, just talked to people and started Leviathan, so here's just a bit. Hey you, we are on our way to the Caleston Rift. We are looking for a Dr. Garneau... I'm very curious about this person, and his research. I actually went to the Citadel to see the asari councilor, but I didn't get this far. Hackett sent me to meet a Dr. Bryson at once. Dr. Bryson researched a creature, a Leviathan... a Reaper killer apparently. Something that can take down such a big thing as a Reaper makes me worried, but it's worth to find out more. Even after seeing what happened with Dr. Bryson's assistant, who actually shot the doc. He says he can't remember and I believe him, it looks a lot like he wasn't himself. Yeah... I guess worried, and scared, is what I am right now. Other than that I'm a lot better though. Garrus said he respects my choice to support the geth, even though the quarians grew on him a lot. Maybe because of Tali, he said, and I know he misses her just as much as I do. But she's not here anymore. Now I'm just glad that whole thing is over. Tali would've never accepted my choice... but then, maybe things would've turned out differently had she been with us. Either way, I cannot dwell on it. I have to stay focused to finish this war. I want it to be over. I actually... I got this idea when I ran into James on the Citadel. He joked about him and me getting matching tattoos. When we all get out of this alive, I think it would be funny to have some matching tattos, to celebrate. James, me and Garrus. Can turians be tattooed? I have no clue! But I want to go out and get drunk with them and do all kinds of stupid stuff! See you next time! A few pics: Putting in a good word for the geth Oh, Javik. Never change Not sure I heard that dialogue before. Maybe it has to do with picking the geth. Always cringe so hard at this dialogue!! Do you feel it? Believe it! Hahahaha. The fun begins! The darkness can't be breached. Not playing ME for just a couple days likely means I'm already rusty. Looking forward to combat
