I finally finished my trilogy run, of which only ME3 remained. My Ruthless Earthborn Renegade Adept gave the Krogan a false cure, was forced to kill both Mordin and Wrex, sided with the Geth and had to watch Tali commit suicide, romanced Miranda and chose Control.
I have to say, the more I play ME3 the more I like it. The only things I truly disliked was the sidelining of the ME2 characters (Miranda, Jack and Samara SHOULD have been squadmates), Kai Leng (cursed be his name) and the ending after you make the 3 color choice. I don't hate the choice itself, what I don't like is what comes after, specially the Stargazer talking to his mini-him.
I'm gonna do a second ME3 run starting from a save I have from the Cerberus' Citadel invasion as I want to romance Ashley too (as squadmate romances are always more wholesome).

Still slowly winding my way through ME2. I still have half a dozen loyalty quests, the Reaper IFF, and the DLCs to go, so I am coming to the realisation I will not complete this before Veilguard by a long shot. But, what's the rush.
In any case I managed to complete the Arrival DLC, and I do have some really mixed thoughts on this DLC.
On one hand the atmosphere and the art direction was as good as ever. The Bartarian world was as suitably miserable and creepy as I would imagine a Bartarian world to be.
The writing however took a really noticeable nose drive. The quality of the dialogue and some of the voice acting could get quite rough at times. It really reminded me of watching Naruto filler as a kid, and even then noticing the stark difference between the filler and the source material.
This was also the first time ME3 style auto dialogue reared it's head in a big way. Which was a sign of things to come.
It was also clear that the DLC was assembled on a rather shoe string budget. Some random dude announcing the Normandy's arrival instead of Joker or EDI was particularly noticeable.
Saying that, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I do like to think of Arrival as Shepard's loyalty mission. I liked how it put Shepard in a more vulnerable position with it being a solo mission behind enemy lines. I also liked how it demonstrated the insidious nature of Reaper indoctrination with us seeing for the first time it infiltrating senior human leadership.
The combat encounters were also very well done. It was a nice novelty having to solve the problem of not having squadmate powers.
Overall, I did not mean to write an essay on this, but I will say solid DLC 7/10 with interesting ideas.

I hate Dr. Kenson, and always take the renegade interrupt to shoot her. I'd shoot her sooner if the game would let me and just tell Hackett the Batarians killed her.

She can't even fully strip a basic enemy's shields on Insanity. She's useless baggage!

Continuing on my "almost everyone is dead" trilogy run, in ME3 on Menae the BioWare devs (via Liara) basically shamed me for letting Garrus die. Also Kirrahe showed up on Surkesh, when I could've sworn he didn't survive Virmire. I'm going to enjoy betraying Wreav and sabotaging the cure. Dude's a menace.
Also, I never spoke to Barla Von in ME1. When Liara gives me the mission to speak to him in ME3, he actually says, "We've never met." Cool that the game remembered that.

I, I mean, I got all 20 crates on Daratar. Smug. Also got to get the doctor from the batarians. Always used to do it last, but who knows if I'll survive the omega relay? Also also, Conrad is missing. Again. After I gave him an autograph, a photograph and some good advice he aint at the Eternity bar trying boost it.

Shepard doesn't leave people behind. Miranda doesn't make it through Collector base. This is mainly because Shep doesnt want to keep going to the citadel to see her and she says, 'no dont want your help. Need to do this myself.' Jacob didn't make it because of ME3. Thane did't make it because he sits around in Huerta and then dies Jack was a toss up. Again ME3. Don't really feel she's teacher material. Not with young and impressionable people.
But how, how did they get these crew members off the Base and into the Normandy??????

But how, how did they get these crew members off the Base and into the Normandy?????? The only way is you sent an escort with them. If that squadmate wasn't loyal, he/she will not survive, but survived long enough to make sure the crew made it to the SR2 before being killed by the collectors.

I meant the killed in action. Shepard gets the hell out of the base and the Normandy skedaddles. All the crew that go with Mordin are safe.

Destroyed the Reapers, saved the galaxy. Fitting that this playthrough concluded on N7 Day. With so many returning characters dead, I did the Citadel dlc immediately after Priority Rannoch, where it actually fit quite well. I headcanon that the Normandy took some fire dodging Quarian-Geth battles, and needed some refits. With almost all continuing characters dead, the Citadel party was kinda empty: Liara, James, EDI, Javic, Joker, Cortez and Traynor. I screwed up somehow and Ashley survived the Citadel coup, but she was pissed at me and refused to return to the Normandy. Anyways, even with so many dead, managed to get 7089 war assets. Not enough for the best ending but I think it was the highest I could get, under the circumstances. Kind of funny: in London I went to see the comms officer and there was no one to message. And I have to ask: WHAT THE F--K DO I HAVE TO DO to get the final paragon / renegade choice in the confrontation with TIM? I had a 4.5 bars of Renegade and the option was still greyed out. It was different getting all the alternate / backup characters, but I don't think I'll do another playthrough so ruthless as this one. I missed Garrus the most.

And I have to ask: WHAT THE F--K DO I HAVE TO DO to get the final paragon / renegade choice in the confrontation with TIM? I had a 4.5 bars of Renegade and the option was still greyed out. You need to pick the "Investigate" (left-most) option with him each time you speak to him throughout the game, and then pick a Charm/Intimidate option when prompted. So on Mars, Thessia, and Cerberus HQ, (Did I miss one?) and then I think you also need to select a Charm/Intimidate options during the confrontation with him on the Citadel. If you miss any of the Charm/Intimidate options with him during the course of the game, then the final Charm/Intimidate option will be greyed out during the final confrontation even if you have a full reputation bar. I missed that last option during a few runs because I missed one the earlier Charm/Intimidate options during the course of the game.

I started a Mass Effect playthrough. It's been quite a while since I played the first one. And I never tried to complete as many side quests as possible.
And now I remember why, most side quests in this game suuuck... Literally the same warehouse copied and pasted a million times.
But other than that great fun. The companions are very basic in this one but even so, are still well written. And many of them are deeply flawed which is super interesting.

Yeah I love ME1 it's my favorite story wise of the trilogy. But yeah I agree the side quests do suck in it. As for the squadmates ME2 has the best cast in the trilogy while ME3 has the best gameplay. But that's just my humble opinion.

Finished Mass Effect, a bit cheesy but overall peak game. The second game is so good at the start, but I'm already starting to see some cracks and things that are not as great as I remembered. this game feels extremely limited when it comes to exploration, and I didn't think I'll miss the mako but I do. writing is still peak, might be even better. I also forget how excellent the voice acting is in this one.
btw, some interesting things that happened to me in ME1:
- I couldn't romance anyone, because apparently calling Ashely on her racist bullshit (jeez I honestly didn't notice how racist that conversation was before) locks you out. - I recruited Liara last, like after Virmire, just to see what would happen, and it was really interesting, she legit thought I'm an imaginary friend or something. but that means I couldn't romance her either.

I love ME2 mainly because of the squadmates and working for a shadow organization like Cerberus. Yeah I know Spectre's are already considered a shadow organization but Cerberus hooks Shepard up. The story I find is not as strong as the first but the intro was great and the ending paves the way for the third game. As for the Mako I did not miss it either and I forgot what the shitty vehicle in ME2 is called but I hated it it was like it was made of paper how fragile it was. At least the mako could take some damage. As for the first got I always rescued Liara first but now I want to do as you said. As for Ashley I romanced her in my second playthrough and Liara in my first PT I've never pissed them off but maybe I should call out Ashley on her bullshit like you said. What do you suggest is a good order to do the main quest of planets?

What do you suggest is a good order to do the main quest of planets? I also always rescue Liara first, it makes the most sense to do, that's why I tried to change things around. Generally speaking, I think Liara's dig site -> Benezia > Thorian > Virmire is the best order if it is your first playthrough, you get tons of cool content that way, but for people like us that played ME many times the order I did things (Benezia >Thorian >Virmire> Liara ) is really cool. not as much content, but still new stuff. As for Ashely, I also never got that way with her that's why I was surprised by the cold shoulder I got from her after that. On the one hand I'm a bit annoyed that one disagreement locks you out of romance, on the other at least there is a way to mess up romance and it's not just "click a button to romance" like later Bioware
