So a while back there was this thread that was about how to play the main missions in Mass Effect and in which order you do them
I decided to take the route someone suggested there (don't really remember who, but eh xD), so I did Feros the other day and today I did Therum to get Liara Have to say, it makes so much more sense to do it that way...I dunno why, but it just does
The flow of dialogue you have afterwards makes more sense as well, where you tell Liara you already have the cipher, but still can't make sense of the vision the beacon gave you.
I think tomorrow I'll be tackling Bring down the sky, and maybe some more side missions as well before going to Noveria I think it's the sense of urgency that should be felt with the Feros colony having fallen silent. I bet it would be a more popular first stop if it didn't have that super-demanding persuasion option with Jeong. Plus, as you said, the dialogue works well, too. I gotta break with my rote path and do Feros first for my next NG+. I use a mod to change the level you need for persuading Jeong...it worked pretty well ^^

I've replayed the opening of ME3 about 6 or 7 times. I can't settle on NG or NG+, Sentinel or Infiltrator, etc... I was indecisive at the beginning of ME2, as well.
I miss having all of the assorted Firepack weapons to begin ME3. Now, in MELE, they're mostly overpriced specialty weapons. Even if I decide to buy them, I can't do so right away. It limits my desired gameplay loop, to a degree.

- Saved some students from Cerberus and bumped into Jack while there, or rather, her fist bumped into Shepard's face. Students are used now for support roles. - Headed to Utukku to follow up on rachni rumours. They were true, and Shepard found Grunt there, lots of rachni mooks to kill, and the rachni queen from Noveria to free once more. - Rescued some civilians on Benning from Cerberus and drove more of these fuckers from an old krogan military facility before returning to the Citadel to turn in some stuff. Alsooo congratulated Spectre Alenko, gave Ambassador Osoba the dog tags of his son, gained the last of Aria's merc bands for the war effort, gave EDI relationship advice, made Liara talk to her father, checked out Kelly's new look, talked with Garrus and played around with the VI, then met Steve at the memorial wall on the way back. - Headed out to the Shroud in order to cure the genophage, where Mordin gave his life for the future of the krogan race, making Wrex and Eve very grateful. Rest easy, you crazy salarian, you. - Stopped a coup attempt on the Citadel and killed that SOB Udina. Shepard said his goodbyes to Thane and then busied himself with talking to and helping people. Took some footage for a salarian, was almost shot by Balak but intimidated him into joining the war effort, shut off life support for a dying batarian, talked some more with Kelly, witnessed Conrad and Jenna bonding, and welcomed Kaidan back into the crew. - What better way to celebrate by taking him out on the next mission, where he, Shepard and James rescued what was left of a turian platoon and learned there was a big fucking bomb on Tuchanka! Yay! They headed there and the primarch's son gave his life to stop the bomb from making a pretty big hole into Wrex's home. - Shot some more Cerberus goons on a Noveria fighter base next. Rorik approached the statues and stopped in his tracks as Garrus wondered where they were. "Looks like a memorial", James suggested, but no matter what it was, it had captured Rorik's attention. He knew he needed to focus, but for a small moment, he'd allow himself to take in the krogan monuments surrounding him. It was a magnificent sight. He swore to himself that if he survived all this, he'd return here. He would love to visit more ancient places and learn more about the krogan once living there. But all in due time, for now they needed to finish their mission and stop the Reapers first.Pics: So I ended up postponing the Turian platoon/bomb missions, as I really like taking the VS on those missions. It's still such fun to switch up mission orders Now thinking about whether to do the quarian arc already, but since I did this early in my last run, I might first do some other missions this time.

I think I am going to wait to play Dragon's Dogma until the first patch, so I decided to turn on the Xbox and complete my only unfinished playthrough: Dimitri Shepard.
1. Started ME2 and loaded the last Dimitri Shepard save file, trying to figure out how I was previously playing the character. (Last manual save: 2021/05/04.) - Soldier with Revenant, so no sniper or shotgun focus. - Six (6) squadmates alive: Legion, Samara, Tali (unloyal, so), Mordin, Garrus, Grunt - No love interest from what I could tell (no picture in cabin) - Could not tell if I saved or destoyed the genophage data - Appeared to have a mix of Paragon and Renegade, but mostly Paragon
2. Started ME1 and loaded the last Dimitri Shepard save file. - Appeared to have a mix of Paragon and Renegade, but mostly Paragon. No points spent on persuasion talents. - Wrex alive - Kaiden alive - Rachni Queen dead
3. Started the import. Council was saved, genophage data was saved. Confirmed no romances (so probably a no-romance playthrough).
4. Vancouver > Mars > Citadel.

Dimitri Shepard (Soldier, ME3): 1. Picked up a Primarch.
2. Citadel stuff and system scanning.
I screwed up the Hanar/Jondum Bau quest; I meant to save the Hanar homeworld and let Bau die, but I accidentally hit the Renegade prompt and saved Bau. It was the last task I was doing on the Citadel and the last save pre-quest was the start of the Citadel, so I was not going to do everything again. Oh well.

Dimitri Shepard (Soldier, ME3): 1. Grabbed a Prothean from Eden Prime. 2. Rescued students from Grissom Academy. 3. Raided a Cerberus lab. 4. Met with diplomats, then picked up a fertile Krogan female.
Had to stop because my controller batteries were low. I have two (very old) controllers for my Xobx 360 and several pairs of batteries, but only one controller works with one particular set of batteries.

More pointless waffling for me, today. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I replayed Earth > Mars > Citadel twice, yet again. I also started a new ME1 playthrough, but I really want to be playing ME3.
The frustration comes from two things. First, I don't have the precise world state I want to play. Secondly, I get annoyed that I have to wait to get the Lancer, and have to play the silly clone adventure to get it.
I really need to use a save editor to handle those gripes. The problem there is that opening PS5 saves apparently requires particular software for which the creator charges $59.99. I don't begrudge him his earnings, and don't even find fault with his chose price. I don't think it's worth that much to me, though. I would likely only use it on MELE.
So, I may need to restart from ME1 if I'm truly hung up on playing the particular world state. I'm not sure I'm in the mood for that right now. Alternatively, I could quit being so annoyed by petty details and just enjoy one of the ME2 imports I have on hand.
For anyone curious, the import I'm wishing I had, at present, is:
Kaidan alive Wrex not recruited Saved the Council Destroyed Maelon's data No ME1 romance, Miranda in ME2
I just haven't rebuilt that one, yet, for MELE. I'm only off on one story point with the ME2 Engineer I just finished, but it's a big one: Wrex is alive and well, and Maelon's data is with Mordin. I don't want to cure the genophage, so... meh.

- Returned to the Citadel to get some business done, and had a chat with Miranda in the Spectre office via holo. Launched a rescue mission for the volus ambassador and got three things at once! Their fleet, the name of a turian colony and Zaeed. Whoop! Convinced Captain Sommers to not just gun down a traitor, but use his intel instead, then struck a deal with a turian named Tactus on Dr. Michel's behalf. Afterwards I wasted a good amount of time on the argument between the C-Sec guy and the café owner for figuring out which gives more war assets (the wiki was again very helpful, and usually I don't fuss so much about these few assets, but getting to the breath scene without the geth will need to be carefully planned ) - Went to an Ardat-Yakshi monastery next only to find out there's almost no one left. Met Samara on the search for her daughters. Blew the place to hell, kept Samara from making a mistake and left a lone Falere behind. - Invited the quarians on board and those idiots had started a war with the geth, which came to bite them in the ass. So Shepard had to board a geth dreadnought with Admiral Xen to disable it and sever Reaper communications to the geth. Picked up friend Legion along the way and made it out of the dreadnought as Gerrel was about to shoot it down. Couldn't resist punching him in the gut for this. - Entered the geth consensus to disable a geth server next, then headed off to rescue Admiral Koris so he can coordinate the civilian fleet again. Fought through a Reaper base filled with geth next and tried to put a stop to this madness. Defeated a small Reaper, talked some smack to it, then let Legion start the Reaper code upload while Raan tried to hold back the fleet. The plan failed, so Shepard decided in favour of the quarians. At least got the good news that mom is still alive and kicking, and had a nice chess match with Traynor afterwards. - Liberated a fuel depot from Reaper forces and James saved Captain Riley in the process. Rorik watched Raan leave and turned around, looking up to the colourful sky. He took a deep breath and walked over to Legion, the metal body reflecting the sunlight giving it a warm glow. Rorik knelt down and looked at his friend. "What a waste", he muttered to himself while shaking his head. He had tried so hard to make peace, he would have wanted to give the geth this chance. But Han'Gerrel would not back down, and the geth were, well, still just AI. Maybe it had been unfair of him to think that way, but they were no organics. Rorik sighed and averted his eyes, taking off his right glove. His palm touched the gritty soil beneath him, the soil of Rannoch. He picked up a handful and got up to walk to the edge of the cliff. Tali had once said that she could not touch a flower with her bare hands like he could, and now she never would. Rorik tossed the soil in the air and watched the dusty particles fly away in the breeze. "Welcome home, Tali", the blond man said gently. He still missed her. Just like he missed Ash. The sound of approaching footsteps ripped him out of his thoughts. "Hey, Shepard... you alright?" Kaidan asked as he put a hand on his friend's shoulder. Rorik turned his head and met Kaidan's eyes. "Yeah, I guess. Just... reminiscing a bit", he replied with a half-assed smile. Kaidan nodded and didn't push further. They both knew the war could cost them even more. Rorik could only hope that everyone else he knew and loved would get out in one piece.Pics: Having Tali dead does leave a hole, but Xen is actually entertaining at times (plus, more Claudia Black ) and I really love the fact that when Tali is dead, Garrus mentions her a couple times, and Tali does it the other way around when Garrus is dead. This is really cool. Ugh, trilogy, love of my gaming life

Dimitri Shepard (Soldier, ME3): 1. Took control of a Krogan cannon and used it to destroy a Cerberus cruiser. 2. Destroyed a Rachni nest and killed a Reaper-made Rachni Queen. 3. Rescued some civilians from Cerberus. 4. Rejected the Dalatrass's deal and cured the genophage. 5. Stopped a Cerberus coup. EDI shot Kaidan. (kind of hoping that Garrus would have shot him.) 6. More Citadel stuff and system scanning. 7. Blew up a monastery. Stopped Samara from killing herself like an idiot. 8. Raided a Cerberus fighter base. 9. More Citadel stuff.

- Headed for the Citadel for some smexytime with Miranda (that is, after she stopped talking about wanting a control chip back in ME2 ), spoke to Samara, let Javik have his walk among the young, danced with Jack and had an innocent little flirt with Cortez, toasting to friendship. - Work called in the form of investigating a thing called Leviathan with Dr. Bryson. Who got killed by his assistant, who wasn't all there in his head anymore, and the team tracked down another researcher called Garneau in a mining facility. Who wasn't Garneau because the real one was dead. Leviathan has some creepy ability! - Headed out to find Bryson's daughter Ann on a Harvester-infested planet. God they are annoying Ann helped locate Leviathan with some crazy idea of hers. - Scanned some stuff to actually track down Leviathan and crash-landed on Despoina. The way home was through more Reaper forces and then a longass dive into the depths of the ocean. Leviathan appeared at last and it eventually agreed to join the fight. - On the way back to the Citadel some Ex-Cerberus scientists were rescued, Jacob and Dr. Archer being among them. Then delivered some things, had a chat with Liara and sat down for a friendly dinner with Kaidan. - Went to see Aria next and she was eager to take back Omega from General Petrovsky. Shepard didn't like having to do this alone with her, but it went alright. Used a neat Engineer interrupt. Sad to see a pretty cool turian named Nyreen go, but after Aria's little rage fit, she even spared Petrovsky. Shepard scared him a little once, but then delivered him into Alliance hands. - Returned to the Citadel and caught up with Jacob a bit before meeting the asari Councilor. "Alright, gotta run", Jack said after the song had ended, and Rorik turned to his dance partner while a bright smile formed on his lips. "It was so good to see you. And you with the students, it was really sweet." "Yeah, yeah, just let it go already", Jack playfully scoffed and returned his smile. Rorik moved in to hug her and she hesitantly returned the gesture, patting the taller man on the back. "Shit, you reek of her perfume", Jack said as she pulled out of their embrace, crossing her arms. "So, the cheerleader and you are still a thing, huh." "Very much so", Rorik smirked and couldn't suppress a chuckle. "Ugh, Shepard, that's disgusting", the biotic grimaced, but then her facial features softened. "Well, that's good I guess", she muttered, quickly adding "for your sake, I mean." "Thanks", Rorik replied gently as they headed down the stairs and Jack set out to leave. "Hey, Jack! Please be careful, okay?" the blond man called after her. "Yeah. You too, Shepard."Pics: Leviathan DLC stole all my money and medi-gel! I died but the enemies died too, so an autosave was created that fucked up everything. Loading the quick-save prior to that worked, and lucky I noticed in the first place Finally Omega out of the way as well. Used to loathe it, and still think it is the weakest DLC (in all 3 games, maybe on par with Arrival though...). But now I am quite used to it and it was even going fairly well with an Engineer. I will never tire of those lovely fire explosions It takes down mooks so fast even on Insanity

Today in Mass Effect, I finally decided to quit being a nit-picking, dissatisfied complainer. I don't know what's up with me, lately. 😄 I will probably start fresh in ME1, in the near future, continuing my efforts to create saves with different world states.
For now, though, I've started a new game of Andromeda. I think it's been about 5 years since I've tried to play it. I don't love it like I love the trilogy, and I let the memories of the parts that disappointed me keep me from revisiting it. To be fair, I did play it way too much in 2017-18. I wore the tread bare and shelved it.
Today, though, I imported my favorite Scott Ryder from ME Archives and started a new adventure. It felt pretty fresh again, thanks to the long layoff. I saved for the evening on Eos, just before heading across the lake and into the Vault.
The team is only level 6, at present. Scott is running one of my go to builds that I think of as a Combat Engineer: (Sentinel-Incinerate/Assault Turret/Energy Drain).
In time, I'll add my Tactical Soldier: (Soldier-Assault Turret OR Invasion/Tactical Cloak/Turbocharge) ...and my favorite, my BioTech Bomber: (Lance/Annihilation/Energy Drain).
MEA's combat is fun, but I definitely miss having control over my squaddies. They get some cool passives and are reasonably competent, but there's no team-based tactics like we have in the trilogy.

- Headed to Thessia and lost to Kai Leng (the drone was funny in the 1st round!). Shepard took it VERY personal and moped a bit a lot, his friends picking him up. Stopped Liara from harassing Javik and tried the best to comfort her (no Paragon interrupt though ). - Liberated a comm hub on Ontarom and rescued Ms. Sato in the process, then continued on to Sanctuary. That facility was a mess, mind boggling experiments and log entries by Miranda's father and this fuck the Illusive Man, who figured out how to create and control Reaper forces. Miranda was also not very far, since her sister got snagged by their father. Intimidated him to let Oriana go, and Miranda killed him. Shepard was glad his father was nothing like that asshole. They didn't have a lot of time, but it was nice spending a few moments with his love before they had to part again. - Afterwards, the Normandy was ordered into drydock for a few much needed repairs. Delivered some ciphers on the Citadel, told Joker he deserves to be stupid, drank until blacking out and waking up next to Aria, bumped into Vega getting tattooed, and then met up with Garrus to shoot some bottles (and no, Shepard didn't miss because he let Garrus win, he was just still too drunk ). Passed 7600 war assets - Headed for Anderson's apartment and looked forward to some R and R, but of course there was some crazy stuff to deal with first! Breaking through a restaurant floor, infiltrating a casino, chasing through the Citadel Archives, getting on board the Normandy with a toothbrush and defeating your clone... just an average day in the life of Commander Shepard. After all the hassle, some time to unwind is on the horizon, at last. "Yes!", the man in the suit cried out and pumped his fist, celebrating his victory at the Quasar machine. "Ha, look at that, James", he said in excitement and turned around to his partner in crime with a broad smile, gesturing to the screen displaying the 1500 credits he won. "Nice one, Loco", the buff man said before pursing his lips and teasing his superior a little. "And how much did you lose again?" "...Not the point", Rorik said and pulled a face that made James chuckle, when Brooks called in. "Um..." "Talk to me, Brooks", Rorik said, looking around him to make sure there were no guards around to listen in. What they had planned was definitely not destined to reach their ears.Pics: The squad banter in the Citadel DLC was much fun to witness again (when I wasn't busy shooting stuff and trying to stay alive ). Beat the clone on the 2nd try, blessed be the corner of safety again! I look forward to the meetups and party now, and I guess by tomorrow I might finish this run. NOOOOOO! I kinda want to play other games, but... but... maybe just one more run... ugh. I guess I'll see

Pathfinder Scott Ryder wrapped up business on Havarl, and headed back to Eos. It's been fun.
I've played a lot of MELE since I last played Andromeda, so it took me a few hours to pull my feet out of the mud and move around the way this game encourages.
I just reached Level 20 before saving. My core build is fully in place, and will just be filled out as I go. It's a heck of a lot of fun, but also too powerful. I'll need to mix up my approach throughout this playthrough. OP builds can get stale very quickly.

Finished up yesterday, weee! - Had some great shore leave and was a huge busy bee; accompanied Javik to a movie set, watched Traynor decimate an arrogant asari, played Claw with Zaeed, listened to Liara playing the piano, then left her to work and got on a fun shuttle ride with Cortez. EDI came by to buy presents and James showed off his new tattoo, then Shepard spent a lovely evening with Miranda until she had to leave, ending up organising a date for Garrus. - Next morning Grunt apologised to a turian, Jack and Shepard blew up some shit at the CombatSim, Jacob was able to show off in front of some kids, Traynor took a bath, Samara made up stories. Afterwards Mom called for a couple minutes, Kaidan cooked some dinner, and James and Cortez came by for a biotiball game and some drinks. Shepard then went on an exciting casino date with Miranda to spend the evening with her - just the two of them. - Held a memorial service for Thane, met Jack's new pet, and convinced her and Miranda to join him in the CombatSim - just like old times! Returned to the Casino to pick up the party supplies and bumped into Kasumi and listened to Joker's very heroic story. - Had a loud and fun party, everyone having a good time with drinking, dancing and laughing. Perfect, really! (couldn't have said it better, Miri ) - Raided the Cerberus HQ and finally found out what the Catalyst is. As a bonus, Kai Leng got stabbed and finally died. - Earth was calling, where Shepard talked to his crew at the FOB before fighting some more through war-torn streets with James and Kaidan, doing the impossible. Surviving till the end, Shepard pressed on, shooting the Illusive Man, destroying the Reapers once and for all, and bringing a time of peace to all his allies. Rorik approached Miranda, a fancy cocktail for each of them in his hands. He stopped briefly, looking at her. She wore a bikini and a light tunic wrapped around her body, revealing her shoulders and bare legs. Her gaze was set out to sea and the breeze gently tugged at her jet-black hair. She was stunning, and she meant everything to him. He heard the waves gently collide with the thick stakes of the jetty as he closed in on her. "Hey gorgeous, here's your drink." "Why thank you, kind mister", Miranda purred while she took the glass and lifted her sunglasses to push them up her hair. Her blue eyes rested intently on Rorik, her smile warm, delicate. He pulled her waist in and found her lips. Miranda hummed into their kiss before she broke away and took a sip from her glass. "I'm glad we came here. I kind of needed the break." They set their drinks aside on the railing and enjoyed the beautiful view for a few seconds before Rorik replied. "I know. I'm glad you listened to me." "This time anyway", Miranda smirked, her eyes challenging her partner to come up with a witty line. It wasn't what he had planned, but he played along. "Now now, Miss Lawson, behave", Rorik chuckled and paused briefly, "or I might have to call you other names." "Other names? I'm sure I can live with your petty teasing", Miranda mused and snickered, "...once in a while." "Who said anything about teasing?" Rorik smiled knowingly as he casually slipped inside the pocket of his swimming trunks, his hand gripping tightly at the small box. His heart beat fast as he took it out and slowly dropped down on his knee. Asking her to become his wife. Miranda's eyes widened in surprise and she gasped before dropping down to him. She cupped Rorik's face and pulled him in, their foreheads gently touching. "Yes! Damn it, yes!" she cried out in joy. He put the ring on her finger and they got up, locked in a tight embrace. Being with her still made him feel like the luckiest man alive.Pics: Ah, it was such fun to see the Jack/Miranda scene at the party again, it has been AGES! While I really like them both, one of them also often dies in my runs to change things up, and I think they were rarely alive together. The last two times they were I had a quiet party And I can never stop laughing at Grunt, best doorman. So sad it's over again, and I still haven't made up my mind if I play some more ME or other games. Maybe both! And tinkering a bit with the character creator can't hurt, right? Riiiight?! (plus I still have some videos from this run I wanna look over, so there's that, ha) Miri's romance was quite good in general and fit this Shepard perfectly, it was a lot of fun! But that means too much post-game headcanon again, apologies In the aftermath of defeating the Reapers, Rorik and Miranda settle down on Earth. Rorik felt the urge to write a book on the efforts of uniting a galaxy, on the importance of allies, of helping each other and how it introduced an era of peace. He enjoyed it so much he becomes an author full-time, even working with Liara for some projects. Miranda leads her own science team consisting of humans, salarians and asari, dedicated not only to the advancement of humanity, but all species. After the couple marries, they adopt a baby boy to start their own little family, and travel the galaxy together whenever they can. Rorik keeps in touch with all his friends via the extranet, but makes an effort to see most of them in person as often as he can. He and his mother rekindled their relationship and she visits more frequently now. Oriana, her husband and two kids of their own, live two towns over and they see each other often, forming close bonds and enjoying a normal life, something Miranda never thought possible a few years back. Civilian life and motherhood suited her, and even all these years later Rorik still finds her as radiant as when he first had laid eyes on her. That wasn't cheesy at all

Finished up Mass Effect 1 today Pretty much did all of the quests, but decided to skip Pinnacle Station because I didn't feel like doing those this time around Going to start up my Mass Effect 2 playthrough as well, at least until I can do some saving because I'm already tired Will probably start the playthrough properly tomorrow

Dimitri Shepard (Soldier, ME3): 1. Took some shore leave, and got ambushed almost immediately. Followed that up by hunting down and killing my clone.
During the clone fight, managed to get a Critical Mission Failure during the mid-fight cutscene because I died as the cutscene started.
2. Some Silver Sun Strip meetups, claw game for mods, then completed all the simulator missions.
3. Met with Quarian admirals, then took down a Geth dreadnaught. Picked up Legion.
4. Shut down a Geth server, then rescued Admiral Korris.
5. Assaulted a Geth base, killed a Reaper Destroyer, then talked the Quarians into making peace with the Geth.
6. Restarted a fuel reactor.
7. Some Citadel and Silver Sun Strip stuff.
8. Went to go recover an artifact from an Asari temple, but got out-plot-armored by Kai Lame.
9. Went to Sanctuary and uncovered a hidden Cerberus lab.
10. Recovered some data from a communications hub.

Dimitri Shepard (Soldier, ME3): 1. Threw a party. I think Garrus booby-trapped the apartment. 2. Attacked Cerberus HQ, killed Kai Lame. 3. Went to Earth and took a beam of light to the Citadel. 4. Talked to the Illusive Man before shooting him. Talked to a stupid AI, then destroyed the Reapers.
And that completes my final previously-unfinished playthrough. Technically I have another unfinished playthrough, but that was a purposely abandoned character that I later re-created for an entirely different playthrough. I am never reviving it.
No idea when or what my next playthrough will be. I know I want to replay some ME2 and ME3 builds in the Legendary Edition that I did on the Xbox, but not sure if I would try to do that with my existing characters (NG+), or do all new playthroughs. I know I would need to mod ME2 to use Stasis with the Legendary Edition.
