Actually, for the playthrough I'm doing now... I'm toying (not yet fully decided) with setting up the SM to have Shepard die here at the end of ME2. That might just become my canon ending for Andromeda... we'll see. I've never had the guts to have him die in ME2 before... not quite sure if I can go through with it even now. Wow I saw the everyone dies video and it is disheartening to say the least. If Shepard dies in the SM, who takes his/her place in ME3? If you try to import a dead Shepard into ME3, it just defaults to Shepard's funeral. (ETA: I was basing this on stuff I had read online way back (2 years ago). Actually, from reading the Wiki today, I now think it just refuses the import.... still, I can head canon this part.)
In my mind, this might be the best set up to ME:A. It leaves the Alliance and Council having to sort out the Reaper threat without Shepard.. which we all know they won't do. I sort of envision the AI as a project that was started long before even the events of ME1... a fool's exploration dream that started pretty much at First Contact. I sort of see Jien Garson as attending Shepard's funeral and finding out about the Reaper threat there... causing her to really push up all the dates for the AI and change the final destination to another galaxy... even though she wasn't sure anyone would arrive there alive...
In my mind, it could be the best lead-in for ME:A overall... sort of depends what they do write into ME:A.

Karen Shepard, Soldier (Shock Trooper), ME1 NG+:
Ilos
The Normandy arrived at Ilos, and the crew gathered on the bridge to go over their options. There was much arguing about the proposed landing site, with Joker insisting he could drop the Mako safely despite there being only 20 metres of space available - the Mako requires 100. With no other options, Shepard ordered Liara and Tali to the Mako so that Joker could attempt to drop them right on top of Saren.
They successfully land on the surface, but Saren had entered some underground compound and sealed the doors behind him. Shepard and her team would need to look for a way to open the doors. They backtracked through the ruins, fighting various geth along the way. There were some weird looking statues in the ruin, Shepard wondered if they were Protheans. They finally reached a security panel that would open the doors to the bunker Saren had entered. Shepard was the only one who could understand the language on the recording - Liara speculated that the prothean cipher Shepard had received from the Thorian must be the reason.
The team returned to the Mako and drove into the underground structure - called the Archives, according to the prothean recording. It appeared to be full of stasis pods which were no longer active. Liara, still an archaeologist at heart, was fascinated by the archives, while Tali tried to keep her focused on the job at hand - Saren, the geth, the impending destruction of the galaxy. Shepard found their exchange adorable.
An energy barrier of some sort blocked their progress. A nearby elevator took them down to a room housing a Prothean VI, called "Vigil". The VI was a treasure trove of information from the Prothean era. It revealed that the Citadel was a Reaper trap, a giant mass relay linked to the dark space outside of the galaxy. The Reapers used it to invade every fifty-thousand years or so, killing or indoctrinating every advanced life form in the galaxy, including the Protheans during the last cycle. The Reapers were "relentless, brutal, and absolutely thorough", according to Vigil.
Ilos had been a research facility, created by scientists whose goal was to infiltrate the Citadel via the Conduit (a miniature mass relay they had created), disrupt the signal to the Keepers that activated the Citadel relay to prevent the invasion in the next cycle, and repopulate the galaxy with Protheans from the in stasis pods in the Archives. The first part of the plan succeeded, but the Reaper conquest of the galaxy had taken longer than expected, and the stasis pods had run out of power and no one other than the top scientists had survived. They did manage to use the Conduit and disrupted the Keeper signal, which gave Shepard a chance to stop the invasion now. Saren was attempting to use the Conduit to gain access to Citadel Control and and hand control of the station over to Sovereign, who would activate the relay. If Saren could be stopped, the Reapers would be trapped in dark space.
Vigil provided a data file that it claimed would help regain control of the Citadel from Sovereign. It also provided additional information about the Keepers, Sovereign, the beacons, and the fate of the Ilos science team. (Liara had insisted on getting as much information from the prothean VI as they could, but Shepard would have done that anyway. She recognized what an opportunity it was).
Shepard took the data file, and the team returned to the Mako. They fought their way past various geth forces and eventually made it to the Conduit, and prepared to use it to infiltrate the Citadel and try and stop Saren's invasion. Shepard hoped they weren't too late.

Filed under: Personal Building the alliance between the krogan and turians is in full motion, but the price we pay for it... The krogan clan leader Wreav demanded the genophage to be cured in exchange for their help. Never in my wildest dreams had I thought this day would truly come. The worst is that this is all Mordin's fault. He fed Wreav information about some female krogan held on Sur'Kesh, females who had survived Maelon's experiments back then and were immune. However, only one female krogan survived in the end, but I safely extracted her from the salarian base. Cerberus was there too, trying to kill the last remaining female. Cerberus was already on Grissom Academy, and it seems they try their hardest to build their own expandible troops while trying to decimate ours, but who knows what the Illusive Man is really doing. Other than that we now have a living Prothean on board. Cerberus had their hands on a 50,000 year old stasis pod from Eden Prime, where Javik - as he calls himself - and other Protheans took their last stand against the Reapers. Good we took good care of Cerberus. The Prothean is interesting and unique, and he has one goal only: to fight the Reapers. I already personally convinced myself of his combat skills. A good soldier. Wreav also had told me a rumour about rachni. I couldn't believe it first, since I killed their last queen back on Noveria, but it was true. The Reapers had created a new queen, and T'Soni, Javik and I fought through rachni-infested tunnels with too many eggs for my liking. I scorched them all, and the queen is dead as well, so this problem's been taken care of. We stopped by the Citadel to resupply, and I met up with Lawson and went to see Alenko since he had requested my presence. He looks much better and got an offer from Udina to be a Spectre. I don't really care what he decides, but good for him I guess. We are currently heading to Tuchanka to deploy the cure. I can see the krogan being good cannon fodder, but I don't want to think about what happens if this war is ever over. Mordin, what have you done? Pics: Sooo, I tried out the Claymore. I wept a bit at my cooldown being only a little above 100, as it was 200% with the Eviscerator. It makes it more challenging, which is not exactly bad, but so far I died loads during Benning I still will try it out some more, but I will probably miss a lot of shots with it because Charge throws most enemies to the ground. I could live with that in ME2 since they all are shielded on higher difficulties and were just knocked back, buuuut it's not the case in ME3. I do like Shockwave though and I guess I'll get used to the rest. I like the team with Javik and Liara because while Javik's Dark Channel has a really long cooldown, it will go over to a new enemy as soon as the one that was affected by it is dead. That's great for some combos, and Liara with Warp is the same. I initially wanted to use her for Singularity, but I actually like Warp better in this setup. However, if I get Kaidan back Liara might be left at the Normandy because Kaidan can Cryo Javik will stay permanently in the team I think. Yay.

It makes it more challenging, which is not exactly bad, but so far I died loads during Benning Miriam Shepard's current loadout is the Adas with ultralight mod and extended barrel, and Phalanx with ultralight and piercing mods. Cooldown is around 140%, which I find to be plenty for shield-restoring Charge-spamming. My Charge build is 4b (radius), 5a (weapon synergy), 6b (barrier).

It can be a lot to process. It took me a few playthroughs to become totally comfortable with my various interpretations of thef endings (and there are several that are possible). Try not to sweat over it too much... I'm pretty sure they will not be connecting the endings to Andromeda at all... at least in this first game. I just found an old article here: BioWare suggests keeping Mass Effect 3 saves. It's from February 2013. Now, I don't know if they've changed plans but it does suggest that the state of the universe from the ME3 ending will factor in to Andromeda in some way, even if just minor.

I think more recent interviews with Mac indicate that any connection to the endings won't be in the first game, but they are still not absolutely saying that one can just discard all their old ME3 saves either. Part of what changed is that the Next Gen consoles came out, making those saves basically inaccessible for some console users. Now, since then, Microsoft has made ME2 and ME3 backward compatible and I do think there is now a way to move those Xbox 360 saves onto the Xbox One. Not sure what the imminent release of the Scorpio will do and I don't know if the PS4 can accommodate ME2 and ME3 yet. We'd have to ask someone who plays on those consoles. I do think that if they ever do connect the ME3 endings to the ME:A saga, they would almost certainly allows for a "DAI-keep-like" entry of that information.

Miriam Shepard spent some time on the Citadel...
Gave an interview to Allers about the failed coup. Reassured her viewers that Cerberus will fail; encouraged them not to lose hope.
James has been invited to apply for the N7 programme, but doubts his command ability following a difficult mission during the Collector crisis. Nice to see some humility behind the façade of bravado that he usually wears. Advised him to accept the offer.
Went back to the Citadel. Presidium is a wreck, smashed glass everywhere, damaged equipment still smoking. Huerta Memorial is beyond capacity; patients laid out on the floor even in the waiting rooms. Refugee camp is overflowing; took some photos on behalf of a documentary film-maker who had been denied access.
Met Cortez by the memorial wall in the camp, adding a photo of his husband to the montage. Also found James getting an N7 tattoo to demonstrate his commitment to joining the programme.
Spoke to the refugee community leader, Tactus, and convinced him to accept a consignment of civilian-grade medical supplies from Normandy's surplus stocks in exchange for combat-grade supplies currently in his possession. Also repaired some medi-gel dispensers that had stopped working.
Encountered a Cerberus sympathizer who pulled a gun in an assassination attempt. Was saved by Conrad Verner (of all people) and Jenna, who had been a C-Sec mole in Chora's Den a few years ago.
Followed a lead that a batarian refugee, Ghorek, might be a wanted terrorist. Found a terminally-ill wreck of a man, consumed with hatred for humanity following Alpha Relay incident. Tried to talk him round, but his hatred ran too deep. Left him in the care of a turian nurse. (Doubt he would have accepted help from an Alliance medic).
Assisted C-Sec officer Noles with interception of suspicious batarian communications using Spectre privileges. Discovered that communication codes had been used to sabotage hospital life support systems and Citadel traffic control, costing human lives on both occasions. Followed the trail to its source; responsible party was Balak, the terrorist who tried to destroy Terra Nova, now the highest-ranking remaining officer in the batarian forces. Resisted the urge to kill him; instead, convinced him to commit the remaining batarian fleet to the war effort, to save themselves if no-one else.
Used Spectre authority to arrange distribution of extra medical supplies to the refugees, and to seize executive bonuses to fund a civilian militia. A militia will allow the people to feel that they are helping the war effort, and free up C-Sec to deal with the more serious crimes.
Received intel from Primarch Victus that volus ambassador Din Korlack may have been leaking information to Cerberus. Confused as to why a volus and a human-supremacist organization would want anything to do with each other, but investigated at the volus embassy anyway. Discovered that Cerberus had put a price on his head; Zaeed Massani among the bounty hunters. Traced Korlack to a private apartment in the Presidium; found him alone with Zaeed, who had killed the other bounty hunters upon discovering the Cerberus connection. Convinced Korlack to divulge information about a planned Cerberus attack on a turian colony and to commit volus forces to the war effort.
Passed some Prothean data drives recovered from the Valhallan Threshold to an Alliance officer, to be forwarded to Crucible engineers.
[Not quite a full-Paragon play session: Miriam lost patience with Ghorek. Perhaps she should have been a little more merciful, given all that the batarians have been through.]

Yeah, that is exactly what's gonna happen. My canon will be undefined for decades from now, I'm ready for that mental journey -nop- I hope Liara's time capsule play some role, it would be sweet. Cool if you go through with that! I probably couldn't because it means I wouldn't be able to play ME3 afterwards, but I had a similar idea with the ending of ME3. I read that if you don't take the interrupt when TIM is aiming at Shepard that they die. Hope it's true because I want to play a Shepard that will not take the interrupt someday because he/she is too weak to do anything, haha. ME is so great with all its possibilities Sooo, I tried out the Claymore. I wept a bit at my cooldown being only a little above 100, as it was 200% with the Eviscerator. 140 is good. I didn't even think of toying around with the ultralight mod, as I usually always take piercing and damage. But I will definitely try it out and see how it goes. For spamming Charge it might be even okay with 100% cooldown, both my Infiltrator and Soldier didn't have much more than 100, but I have a bit of a harder time with Vanguard (plus I don't want to spam Charge all the time). Oh well, I probably just stay too long in the open and get shot a lot, haha. But the ultralight mod is a good idea and there's also still the intel I can collect and exchange with Glyph, so there's some more cooldown % to be expected PS: I forgot to mention in my previous post that I will never not recruit Wrex in ME1 again. So... many... inconsistency bugs. Ugh Also it was funny that Liara and Kirrahe knew each other when I only recruited Liara AFTER Virmire... hehe. Edited for Update: I now have ultralight mod Lv2, and cooldown is at 140

Mark Shepard:
Citadel: Khalisah al-Jilani ambushed me with questions. She poo-pooed my "playing politics" with the Council. It's clear this woman doesn't understand the scope of what I'm doing. As the turian councilor said, "if it gets you what you want, I don't see how it matters". I don't feel any different than Khalisah on the subject but I know that my emotions aren't going to give me the power to single-handedly take down the Reapers. We need survival strategy. So I persuaded her to keep on questioning the Council so that maybe they would come through.
Normandy: When I got on board, I had a nightmare. Dark forest at night, that kid I saw on Earth laughing and running. Then, when I finally catch up to him, he goes up in flames. After I woke up, Liara paid me a visit, as did Comm Specialist Samantha Traynor. EDI gave her a stamp of approval. Then another QEC meeting with Hackett, who told me to get resources of any kind - be it to fight or build the Crucible.
War Assets: Alliance Engineers Corps (130), 103rd Marine Division (100), Admiral Mikhailovich (25), Alliance First Fleet (90), Alliance Third Fleet (90), Alliance Fifth Fleet (90), Diana Allers (5), Alliance Frigate Normandy SR-2 (115), Mineral Resources (25), Khalisah Bint Sinan al-Jilani (10). Total: 680.
Models Found: Alliance Shuttle, Alliance Cruiser, Geth Cruiser, Normandy SR-1, Freighter, Shadow Broker Base, Turian Cruiser, Destiny Ascension, Sovereign, Quarian Ship.
Crew check-in: Joker (not surprised the Council wouldn't help), Traynor (excessive spending on oral care), Lt. Steve Cortez (requisitions officer and shuttle pilot; also informed me the Hammerhead was no more), James (we sparred, he lost), Allers (getting people on recruitment lines), Space Hamster (found and returned to my quarters), Engineer Adams (apologized for not joining Cerberus???), Dr. Chakwas (loved stealing Cerberus resources to use against them), Liara (using Shadow Broker resources to research the Prothean device).
Email: My battlefield reinstatement was accepted, including command of the Normandy; I've inherited a KEI-9 that's roaming the cargo bay; Hackett gave me some missions to take care of.
Sanctum: Here to gather Reaper tech that Cerberus has at one of their labs. Strange having such a limited numbers of squadmates available. I'm bringing my whole team with me: Liara and James. This place is well-fortified with Cerberus troops but I wasn't going to let them stop us. Found a log that strongly suggests brainwashing to make someone pro-Cerberus and "protect humanity at any cost". After we got the samples, we radioed for a pickup. Cortez was under attack. A testament to his flying skills is that in the 15 seconds he was on the line with me he managed to take up one of his five attackers. He's a hell of a pilot and I'm lucky to have him. Also found a "failed" med-gel experiment that was useful only to the hanar. Their failure is our gain.
Normandy: Hackett was glad I was able to get that tech. It would come in useful in finding out weaknesses and just plain understanding our enemy.
War Assets: 680 + Team Zeta + SSV Agincourt + Cerberus Research Data = 765
Menae: Here to rescue Primarch Fedorian so he'll give us some resources to help Earth against the Reapers. I can see from shuttle ride down that both Menae and Palaven are under heavy siege from the Reapers. It's going to be a fight when we hit ground-side. There are already husks attacking so we leave the shuttle with guns blazing. Some things that remain true are that biotic charge still rips husks to shreds.

Yesterday, I start off saying no to an unemployed Turian, went to Feros, killed Jeong and creepy Thorian, argued with the Turian councilor, drop by Luna to see baby EDI, flirted with Kaidan.

Deep space exploration at its best:
After a trip back to the Citadel to meet with Nassana Dantius and check in with Udina and Anderson, Susan sent the Normandy out exploring various systems. Along the way, she found out what happened to an ExoGeni research team (they got huskified), took out one warlord base for Helena Blake, and rescued Chairman Burns from the biotics who had kidnapped and threatened to kill him. Currently in the Artemis Tau Cluster but so far no sign of Benezia's daughter.

Mark Shepard:
Menae (continued): Followed the path and made it to a General Corinthus. He informed me Primarch Fedorian was dead. He didn't know who was in charge other than that Palaven Command would know. Problem there was that the comm towers were down so they couldn't be reached. It was up to me and my squad to fix the tower.
I had Liara repair the tower while James and I killed husks. When it was done we continued fighting while waiting for information. Then Corinthus called me back. He hadn't named a name but then an unexpected ally walked up. It was Garrus Vakarian and a general was calling him "sir". He'd obviously risen up the ranks. Garrus said General Adrien Victus was next in line of succession and we had to go find him. Fortunately, Garrus has been with him earlier so we at least had an idea where he might be.
Before we could head out, a couple things happened. Something was going on with EDI on the Normandy. Liara returned to check it out. Then a harvester appeared in the sky. These were, as near as I could tell, those bug dragons I'd met while working with Cerberus. These things dropped husks and the like in battlefields. They dropped just outside the walls and we had to stop them. We saw some that looked kind of like turians. It seemed that the Reapers were turning all species into husks. I shuddered to think about a krogan or an asari husk.
When were done, we returned to base. Before we could reach Corinthus, he radioed us to say that Reapers were at the main barricade. We'd need to man a turret to deal with the threat. Then something new dropped in. Remember my concern about krogan husks? Well, this thing was as big as a krogan though it looked like something else was in the mix. I rammed the barricade and knocked me off. Once it was down, and with no other information on Victus, we decided to head to his last known location.
En route, Garrus pointed out a large orange blaze on Palaven. It was where he'd been born and he still had a father and sister there. This was currently day three of the Reaper attack and the turians had lost 8 million people in the first two days. I was thinking of Earth, though. It didn't have the finest military in Council space. What hope did it have? I had to get the turian support no matter what.
When we made it to Victus and told him the news he was more than a little shocked to find out he was the new primarch. He said his goodbyes but then he thew things for a loop. He'd only agree to help Earth if we got the krogan to help Palaven. The summit the salarians were having was going to be interesting. Too interesting for the asari, who opted out, even though acknowledging it was time to move past the krogan issues.
Normandy: Hackett told me to do whatever it took to get turian support. I was going to do my best but I didn't have high hopes.
War Assets: 765 + Javelin Missile Launchers + Turian 79th Flotilla = 855/2 = 427
Meanwhile, the power dipped and Joker said that EDI had gone offline. Everything pointed toward the AI core. When I went down there I found an electrical fire that Adams put out. It turned out EDI had placed part of herself into Dr. Core's body. The transition had been difficult, accounting for the fire. Now she had complete control.
Emails: Kaidan is up, a fellow Spectre wants help, Thane is also a Huerta under an alias, and Aria T'Loak is at a club on the Citadel for some reason.
Citadel: I had a few things to do here but first up was a visit to Kaidan at Huerta Memorial. We talked, cleared the air. Kaidan said we were good together and I hoped that we could be again. Then I left him to rest. Also talked to Thane. Tried to convince him to rejoin the Normandy but he said he was too ill and also had obligations to his son. I understood. He also mentioned that he would keep on eye on Kaidan in case anyone tried to attack him while he was still too weak to defend himself.
Talked to Aria in Purgatory. Cerberus had ousted her from Omega. She intended to get it back but understood the priority was getting help for the war. She offered me mercs: Eclipse, Blue Suns and the Blood Pack. This was going to ruin my "shoot on sight" policy for them.

I got the IFF, did Legion's loyalty quest, did the Suicide Mission, and the Shadow Broker DLC. I still have Overlord and Arrival left. Then Mass Effect 3. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Liara's romance. Her friendship moments are really good in the game. The romance portions should be great.

From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy: From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy, CO Commander Abigail Shepard Reporting, July 2nd, 2185.
It has been a long day. Running down two missions on the Citadel with Thane and Garrus. Though Thane had little combat, just had to troll a dock worker or something. As for Garrus, had to kill my way through a bunch of Blue Suns Mercenaries. And then there was Harkin, creepy, man drooling, Harkin. But after that I helped Garrus put down Sidonis. Gave him a chance to explain himself, and at the end, he wanted it in the end.
***
July 5, 2185.
Finally visited the Krogan home world. It is a lot...cleaner then I expected. And Urdnot Wrex is busy doing a lot of positive reforms for the Krogan. Regardless.
Mordin has a lot more...depth...then I gave him credit for. He does feel guilty for what he had to do to the Krogan. I don't judge him. I was not there to make the call. But it was telling. Maelon however...did not survive the encounter. He was too dangerous to keep alive. But, I think the data is worth it, just in case Mordin needs it...for some reason or another.
July 8, 2185.
And, surprise, Jack is also more complicated then I gave her credit for. But, at the end of the day she also tried to pick a fight with Miranda. Which, I am tired of. THough as long as she can do her job, I guess no one cares. Still, she is starting to show some growth, some interspection, and I am starting to get through to her. So...we shall see.
July 14, 2185.
Our latest mission, to the crash site of the Hugo Gernsback, reminds me a lot of the stories from the Bible of the Garden at Eden...just in the reverse. I wonder if there is something to the story after all.
Regardless we sent a message to the Alliance. If he can last that long, he will soon face justice for his crimes...actual...proper...justice.

Dear Ashley,
Today was a good day. Garrus is now back on the crew. I'm sure the Illusive Man didn't realize who he was when he put him on the list of people I should recruit.Garrus had been going by the name Archangel and spending his time frustrating all the mercs on Omega... managed to cause them so much grief that the 3 major merc groups banded together to take him out. It was a good thing we got to Omega when we did. As good a shot as Garrus is, I really don't think he could have held out much longer. He had been keeping them at bay for over a day. Even as it was, he took a rocket to the face. He'll be OK, but now he looks a lot worse than I do (Yeah, my scars still aren't healing all that well. Chakwas says I need to be more positive. Yeah, right. Anyway, she has a surgical procedure she can do; and I think I'll spend some of the Illusive Man's platinum to get it over and done with... so the crew just won't be able to tell how I'm feeling.) We also recruited Dr. Mordin Solus, former STG and some sort of genius. He's working on a way to stop the Collector's seeker swarms from paralyzing us. It's pretty important that he get it done soon. Yeah, I probably should have taken Miranda's advice and recruited him earlier to give him more time. Live and learn, I guess.
Bye for now. V.

Filed under: Personal The genophage is... cured. I am a hero to the krogan. I will not get into specifics for various reasons, but the salarians are also on our side now. The dalatrass had made an offer I couldn't pass up. And so we ended up like this - the krogan are happy, the salarians are happy, the turians are happy about the krogan help for Palaven. And I am content how it all played out and that I could send Hackett a brilliant salarian scientist to help with the Crucible. He seems to enjoy this device a lot, judging from his e-mail. After the female had died I attended her funeral, sealing the deal with Urdnot Wreav. Everything was in order and I returned to the Normandy. Liara informed me about a call from the salarian Councilor, and he implied Udina tried something involved with credits on the Citadel. I wasn't too keen to check it out at first, but then I thought it might be worth investigating. And I am glad I did. All hell broke loose on the Citadel, Bailey sending out a warning that Cerberus had taken over the station. T'Soni, Javik and I managed to push through their units after we found Bailey wounded, but alive. We had found the salarian councilor, when an assassin, one of the Illusive Man's lap dogs, tried to kill him. Major Kirrahe was present as well and sacrificed his life to save the councilor. He was an honorable man. Bailey kept us posted about the other Council members. We caught up to them, Alenko being with them. He didn't trust me like he had claimed before, and we both had our guns pointed at each other. Fortunately for him he saw reason and focused on Udina. That filthy, rotten scoundrel was behind it all. I shot him when he threatened the asari councilor. The assassin had escaped, but at least the Council was safe, and finally they now all support us with the Crucible. I had some more business to attend to at the Citadel, and Alenko was waiting for me at the Normandy's docking bay. Even with everything that just happened, I offered him to join our team. He is a good soldier after all and will be valuable in our fight against the Reaper ground forces. But I have not yet forgiven him for shoving a gun in my face. And then there's something else... Ever since this started I'm plagued by nightmares and it throws me off. I never had them before. I'm not one to dwell on things, yet... back on Earth I saw this boy, still so young. He managed to get into a shuttle when the Reapers arrived, but I watched as these machines tore through the shuttle without difficulty. I keep seeing him in my dreams, chasing him, then losing him to the Reapers... or whatever it is supposed to mean. Am I going crazy? Whatever it is, I don't like it. This is not me. More pics: Tuchanka went fine until the last Cannibal encounter. I had a bug there when I charged one on the stairs, and they kept on respawning on top of the stairs. I died twice this way, and then I saw later on that all my medi-gel had gone, as well as my credits This happened to me before in the Leviathan DLC and it's super annoying, especially since I didn't save manually during this mission, so it was either replaying or live without my credits On the plus side, Citadel Coup went amazingly well with no deaths, not even from the Phantoms! Kaidan is back and the cryo fun can begin

Karen Shepard, Soldier (Shock Trooper), ME1 NG+:
The Battle of the Citadel
Shepard drove the Mako past 4 geth Colossi, straight into the Conduit. They emerged on the Presidium of the Citadel, the Prothean "statue" had actually been a fully functional mass relay all along.
Avina provided a damage report (in short, things weren't good), informed them that the Council had been evacuated to the Destiny Ascension, and Saren was in the Council Chambers, the likely location the control panel that would give control of the station to Sovereign. Shepard, Liara and Tali entered the elevator and began their ascent to the Council Chambers, but Saren stopped the elevator half-way up. "Suit up, we're going outside", Shepard told her companions, and Shepard shattered the elevator window and they stepped out on to the exterior of the Citadel Tower.
They made their way up the tower on foot, while Sovereign, attached to the top of the tower, looked down at them. It was a pretty spectacular sight. Sovereign had attacked using a geth fleet as a screen, and had gone straight for the tower before the Ward arms closed. They fought geth and krogan forces as they made their way up the tower, while outside the closed station the battle between the geth and Citadel fleets raged.
They finally reached the top of the tower and found an access hatch. Inside the Council Chambers, they fought more geth, and found Saren at a control panel attempting to grant Sovereign access to the station. Shepard once again implored Saren to stop this madness. Saren revealed that following their conversation on Virmire, he had begun to have doubts. Sensing his faltering commitment to the Reaper cause, Sovereign had implants installed in Saren, "to strengthen my resolve". He reiterated his belief that the Reapers were unstoppable and that organics needed to join with the Reapers in order to survive.
Shepard knew the truth - indoctrination was a battle of wills, and after their talk on Virmire , it was a fight that Saren had been winning. The implants were to overcome his resistance, not strengthen him. Shepard had gotten through to Saren on Virmire, so now she once again attempted to convince him not to give in, and to help her stop Sovereign. She succeeded in getting through to him once again, Saren overcame Sovereign's influence and shot himself to prevent him from fighting Shepard.
Shepard went to the control panel to activate Vigil's data file and regain control of the station. Tali and Liara suggested she get the Ward arms open, so the fleet could engage Sovereign, and open a comm channel. With communications back online, they heard a distress call from the Destiny Ascension, as well as a call from Joker. The Normandy was waiting with the Alliance Fifth Fleet in a nearby system, and that they could join the fight if Shepard opened the relay network. Tali suggested it might be better to wait until the arms were open so that the reinforcements could focus on Sovereign, but the biggest battle in decades - perhaps centuries - was happening at the Citadel, and Shepard felt there was no sense having an entire fleet sitting in another system twiddling their thumbs. Shepard activated the relays and told the Alliance fleet to join the fight.
At his point, they learned that it takes more than a gunshot (or two) to kill a cybernetic enhanced turian. Sovereign assumed control of Saren's corpse via the implants, transforming it into some sort of cybernetic monster. It attacked, but Shepard and her squad prevailed. At the moment "Saren" died, Sovereign's shields went down, and the Reaper lost it's connection with the Citadel Tower. Sensing it's vulnerability, the Citadel and Alliance fleets renewed their attack, and they finally overcame the Reaper and destroyed it.
The explosion damaged the tower. Liara and Tali were shaken up, but were assisted by Anderson and a squad of C-Sec officers. For a moment they feared that Shepard had been crushed by rubble from Sovereign, but the first human Spectre emerged triumphant from the wreckage, and rejoined her friends.
Aftermath
A small ceremony was held on the Presidium, where the Council expressed their gratitude for the heroic actions and sacrifices made by the Alliance in the battle. They also informed Ambassador Udina that humanity would be offered a spot on the Citadel Council, in recognition of their role in saving the Citadel. The Councillors asked Commander Shepard who she thought should be named as humanity's representative on the Council, as her opinion would likely carry a lot of weight. Shepard felt that it was a matter for others to decide, as a solder it wasn't her place to get too involved in political matters. She knew that the Reapers were still out in dark space, and were still intent on harvesting the galaxy. Stopping them Shepard's only priority, and she was determined to do just that.

I took a game-free day on Sunday, and went back to my playthrough this morning. But I did so embarrassingly little, that it's not worth talking about. Well, better luck tomorrow. I am poking around the DA2 character creator as well, so, yeah, I still have a critical time shortage prior to Andromeda.

Miriam Shepard began investigating Dr Bryson's research... Still at the Citadel, took a cab to the home/laboratory of Dr Garret Bryson at Admiral Hackett's instruction. Bryson was heading up research into Reaper X-Files, looking for truths among the myths. Was shot by Derek Hadley, his lab assistant, during conversation; disarmed him before he could shoot again. Claimed no memory of the incident during interrogation; behaviour consistent with indoctrination. Examined Bryson's lab with EDI, discovered research into the "Leviathan of Dis", a postulated Reaper-killer that killed a Reaper in the Hades Nexus. Deduced that Bryson's field researcher Alex Garneau had followed evidence of this "Leviathan" to the Caleston Rift; returned to the Normandy and ordered Joker to plot a course. Upon arrival, detected Reaper energy signatures in the vicinity of the mining asteroid Mahavid. Took a shuttle to the mining complex with Garrus and Ashley as backup. Encountered Reaper ground troops at complex entrance; neutralized them and proceeded inside. Staff in lobby area behaving as if in trances, tried to warn Normandy party away. Proceeded further in; appeared that mining company was a front; complex actually scientific research station. All research staff behaving as if in trances. Located Garneau in medical wing: became possessed; spoke in inhuman voice, apparently channelling Leviathan; then fled into mines. Followed Garneau; encountered heavy Reaper resistance including rachni artillery. Garneau sealed himself in inner room; used L5n abilities to reach him rapidly; power went out and sealed the door. Activated a drone to restore power; defended it from Reaper forces including husk type previously unseen: tall, distended, emaciated, female characteristics, biotic abilities, constantly screaming. Entered the inner room, found Garneau with spherical artefact similar to one in Bryson's lab; he blew it, and himself, up. Miners snapped out of trances, believing it to be 2176; indoctrinated for a decade, seemingly. Research operations in mines appeared to be Leviathan using miners as puppets. Discovered that our "Garneau" was an impostor; real Garneau was dead all along. Returned to the Citadel to investigate the artefact in the lab, likely cause of Hadley's indoctrination, very likely dangerous. [Had to take Ashley, now she's onboard. I set her Inferno Grenades as Shepard's bonus power because I still hadn't picked one and wanted something that wouldn't clash with Charge's cooldown. Very good for firesploding Ravagers at a distance, using Shockwave as a detonator. Which came first, this DLC or the multiplayer drone-escorting objective? Died twice while escorting that drone. Also, achieved an accidental team kill because Garrus and Ashley were both in the splash damage zone when I used the Blackstar to nuke the Banshee at the end I don't remember from my first playthrough, but according to the wiki, there are also supposed to be Banshees in the battles before reaching the door in the mines, but because I Charged across the battlefield, I must've made it there and tagged the door before they spawned ]

Is there a way to play sidequest after the ending or do i have to restart from scratch? You can't do a sidequest after ME1's endgame. You either do a new game or a new game+ where you can transfer your character's stats and credits. In ME2, you can play all the DLC and sidequests after the main game.

Mass Effect 2 Introduction Character import from ME1 Name: Karen Shepard Class: Soldier Background / Psych Profile: Colonist / War Hero Romance: Liara Alignment: Paragon Summary of ME1 decisions: - Shiala, Jeong, Feros colonists alive and well - Helped Gianna Parasini and Dr Cohen on Noveria - Released Rachni Queen - Kaidan killed in action on Virmire, Urdnot Wrex alive and well - Captain Kirrahe, Corporal Toombs, Chairman Burns alive and well - Kate Bowman survived Bring Down the Sky, Balak allowed to escape - Destiny Ascension, Council survived Battle of the Citadel - Helena Blake, Rana Thanoptis alive - Personal quests for Wrex, Garrus, and Tali successfully completed Omega Nebula, Amada System The SSV Normandy was patrolling the Omega Nebula, searching for any geth holdouts following the Battle of the Citadel between the Reaper Sovereign (and it's allies, the geth and the former Spectre Saren Arterius) and the Citadel Fleet. Commander Shepard was working on deck 2, while Navigator Pressly, the 2nd officer, had the command deck. Shepard reflected on how strange this assignment was, given that the Council and the Alliance had fought so hard to prevent the Normandy from entering the Terminus Systems during the time Shepard was chasing Saren. They believed that Council or Alliance ships in that part of space would antagonize those races who made the Terminus their home, leading to conflict with Council space. Yet here they were. The Normandy was a stealth ship, so they could avoid detection better than any other, but it still seemed odd.
It turned out that the Normandy wasn't quite as stealthy as believed, however. It was attacked by an unknown, alien vessel, which somehow detected them despite the stealth systems. The attack was devastating, and it became clear in seconds that the Normandy would not survive. Liara got most of the crew to the escape pods, but Joker refused to abandon ship and was still at the helm.
Shepard made her way through the ship toward Joker. It was heartbreaking for Shepard to see her beloved Normandy in this state - half destroyed, the C & C exposed to space. It was just a ship, however, it could be rebuilt. The lives of her and her pilot were what mattered. Shepard reached the helm and convinced Joker to get onto the nearest escape pod. As she was about to get on board the pod herself, another attack from the alien vessel knocked her flying. She had time to eject the pod before she was blown clear, but her suit had been damaged, and as she floated in space surrounded by the debris of her ship toward the planet below, unable to breath, she blacked out, assuming she was a goner. Awakening - Lazarus Station Shepard was awake, but she didn't know where. Bright lights, voices, the sound of machinery and monitors. A medical facility? How had she survived?
The voices, a man and a woman, sounded panicked. "Give her the sedative...". "Heart rate still climbing...". "It's not working!..." She wanted to escape, but the woman told her not to move. The sedative took effect, and Shepard began to lose consciousness. "I told you your estimates were off..." Who were these people? What was happening to her?
She awoke again sometime later. She was in a lot of pain, but at least she could move. Through the confusion, she could hear gunfire, explosions, and a woman's voice - it sounded like the same person from the time she previously woke up. The man had called her "Miranda", Shepard remembered.
She heard something about armour, and saw a locker nearby. She felt a lot better after suiting up, but still didn't know what was happening. The woman was berating her to get moving, but Shepard didn't want to blindly follow some stranger's orders until she knew what was going on. She looked around the room: a medical facility of some sort, the word "Recovery" in large letters on the wall, lots of medical and surgical equipment, but no indication of where it was or who ran it.
She left the room, Miranda hassling her constantly about reloading her pistol and taking cover, like she was some sort of FNG. Very irritating. She saw bodies on the floor, humans, but didn't recognize the uniforms they were wearing. Suddenly she was taking fire, some sort of synthetic mech was coming down the stairs toward her, firing an SMG that did heavy damage to her shields. She took out the mech without much trouble - it didn't seem as sophisticated as the geth - but couldn't figure out what it was or where it came from.
She advanced to the next room and took out more of the mechs, ignoring Miranda's useless "advice" on how to fight. She may be confused and in pain, but Shepard was still an N7 marine. The sign said "Observation", and one wall was made of glass that looked down on the Recovery room. Had she been some sort of lab rat to these people? What did they do to her?
She kept moving, and through a window saw two people in another room being attacked by a mech much larger that the ones she had fought. She attempted to save them by shooting the mech through the glass, but it was bullet-proof. As the people were killed by the mech, Miranda coldly told her not to "waste time." She was really starting to hate this person.
Shepard advanced through more hallways filled with bodies. She found an office with computer terminals that were still logged in. There were recordings, log entries by Miranda and the man who had been with her the first time she woke up (named "Wilson", apparently), discussing the procedures done to revive Shepard. It seemed these people had recovered her after the attack on the Normandy and rescued her. She still wanted to know who they were and what their agenda was, because one thing she was sure of was that this was no Alliance or Council facility.
Moving on, Shepard saw another large mech going after a man who called Shepard by name. She couldn't get to him either - more inconvenient bullet-proof glass. There was another terminal with a log entry, this one by Wilson, complaining about "Project Director" Miranda - evidently Shepard wasn't the only one not fond of her. Jacob Shepard entered the next room, and saw someone fighting squad of mechs. He introduced himself as Jacob Taylor, and, once the mechs attacking him had been defeated, he agreed to answer Shepard's questions. He informed Shepard that the synthetics attacking them were security mechs that must of been hacked, something that should be impossible for unless you had security access - the attack "had to be an inside job". Jacob, it turned out, was the head of the stations security, so it was a little worrying that the attack seemed to catch him completely off guard.
Jacob answered to Miranda, who was the stations ranking officer and leader of "Project Lazarus". Jacob claimed Shepard had been killed in the attack on the Normandy, and Project Lazarus had brought her back. The implications of that, it true, were horrifying to Shepard. She knew of only one way to reanimate a dead person, and that was with the "Dragon's Teeth" used on Eden Prime and Chasca, among other places. Reaper technology. Were these people associated with the Reapers somehow? Jacob was probably exaggerating, or had been mislead. Shepard hoped so, maybe paranoia was getting the better of her.
She asked about the Normandy and her crew, and was told most of them survived except Pressly and some crew members from the lower decks. He didn't know where the surviving crew had ended up, as it had been two years since the attack and many of them were no longer with the Alliance. Wilson Wilson, the chief medical tech for Project Lazarus, made contact with Jacob asking for assistance dealing with mechs that were attacking him. On the way, Shepard found more logs from Wilson and Miranda about the project - Wilson felt unappreciated, apparently. Jacob and Shepard reached the server room where Wilson was hiding, and cured his wounds with some medi-gel. He claimed he had been trying to regain control of the security mechs, but whoever had sabotaged them had "fried the system". Jacob wanted to find Miranda, but Wilson claimed she was either dead or a traitor. Shepard knew she wasn't dead, but couldn't say about the rest.
Jacob finally revealed who he, Miranda and Wilson worked for - Cerberus, the former Alliance black-ops outfit that Shepard clashed with while chasing down Saren. The ones who murdered Admiral Kahoku and were responsible, directly or indirectly, for the loss of the human colony Chasca, the Alliance listening post on Altahe, the deaths of Corporal Toombs squad on Akuze (and the subsequent experiments on and torture of Toombs) amongst other things. Shepard demanded to know what Cerberus wanted with her, Jacob would only say that someone known only as "The Illusive Man" would explain everything. Miranda To talk to this Illusive Man, they first had to get off the station. They fought their way to the shuttle bay, where Miranda was waiting for them. She executed Wilson on the spot, claiming he was the traitor that had hacked the mechs. Shepard wasn't convinced - Jacob had specifically said that Wilson didn't have security access (but Miranda likely did) - but there wasn't much she could do about it. Shepard knew from the logs that Wilson had been disgruntled, but those could have been faked, she ruled out nothing where Cerberus was concerned. Shepard suspicions were raised further when both Miranda and Jacob refused to go back and search for more survivors. Was this whole attack just an excuse to wipe out all who knew about Project Lazarus and prevent Shepard or anyone else discovering the truth, and pinning it all on Wilson? Or was Shepard just being paranoid again? It looked like she would have to play along for the time being, hopefully finding some answers along the way. Time to go and see this "Illusive Man" and see what he had to say for himself. Illusive Man Miranda and Jacob wanted to test Shepard's memory during the shuttle ride to another Cerberus station. Apparently, she passed. At the station, Shepard attempted to get more info from the two Cerberus operatives but they brushed her off. Apparently Mr Illusive didn't like to be kept waiting.
The Illusive Man met with Shepard via some fancy communications system, rather than in person - probably a wise precaution on his part. The first thing Shepard noticed was TIM's glowing blue eyes, just like Saren's. Suffice it to say this didn't improve Shepard's opinion of him. He claimed that human colonists were disappearing, suspected the Reapers were involved, and that Cerberus were the only ones working on stopping it. Since Cerberus' actions to date had made it clear they had no issue with destroying human colonies when it suited them, Shepard was far from convinced by their newfound altruism. They had some other agenda, she was sure of it.
For the time being, there didn't seem to be much she could do about it. She was basically a captive of Cerberus, but they were being relatively friendly, so Shepard decided to play along for the time being. She agreed to go to Freedom's Progress, the latest colony to go dark, to investigate.
Shepard spoke to Jacob, who talked about his background and how he ended up in Cerberus. He was former Alliance, who got frustrated with what he thought was an excessive amount of red tape. He didn't seem to like Cerberus much better, but thought Cerberus was more likely to act when necessary. It seemed rather naive to Shepard, knowing what she new about the organization, but she could understood where he was coming from.
Miranda on the other hand, seemed completely dedicated to the Cerberus cause, and quite clearing didn't trust Shepard. She claimed that she had wanted to put a control chip in Shepard but the Illusive Man had overruled her. This was going to be an uneasy working relationship, for sure.

Is there a way to play sidequest after the ending or do i have to restart from scratch? You can't do a sidequest after ME1's endgame. You either do a new game or a new game+ where you can transfer your character's stats and credits. In ME2, you can play all the DLC and sidequests after the main game. And in ME3, the end is the end.
