As title. When I'm trying to build Vivienne, what should I be going for? Does the AI understand how to use Spirit Blade and its charges? For that matter, I've tried giving her the "Array" mines, but it's hard to "convince" her to move forward into combat (which, even without Spirit Blade, she kinda needs for her mana regen passive) and stands near the back lines in order to use them. Is there any good way to use her as a companion or should I just not bother with KEs unless I'm going to be playing one myself?

Here's my Viv build. I go Winter for the most part: Before Skyhold: - Barrier
- Energy Barrage (with a fire or electricity staff)
- Ice Mine/Chilling Array (with the Ice Armor passive, she's hard to kill)
- Winter's Grasp/Winter's Ruin
And then whatever else you have points for: Fade Step, Chain Lightning, Immolate, etc. After Skyhold: - Barrier/Elegant Defense (this is in support of the rest of the party, she doesn't need it on herself)
- Energy Barrage
- Ice Mine/Chilling Array
- Spirit Blade/Amplified Blade
- Fade Cloak/Decloaking Blast
- Fire Mine/Flaming Array
- Winter's Grasp/Winter's Ruin -or- Chain Lightning/either upgrade
- Resurgence
And of course it's a priority to get the Fade Shield passive right away. Should be the first 3 skill points spent. If Viv has Spirit Blade set to Preferred and her AI setting is Follow Controlled Character, she should be right in the front lines with your melee character. If you are not a melee character and are also far away fighting at range, set her to Follow (whoever your tank is). This has never failed to work for me, she stays right on the front line. In fact, when I don't want her to be there, I have to disable Spirit Blade and make her Follow Vivienne. The AI does a better job of managing SB charges than I do, that's for sure.
