I figured this could be a suggestion thread in general to give other users tidbits about cool moments in ME2 that aren't necessarily easy to discover.
Personally, I just completed the most extensive and awesome run I've ever had of ME1 and now I'm kind of stumped during my first ours with 2. I feel like I'm going through the motions, just moving from one mission in a random order to the next. In ME1 I had all these specific things I wanted to try and see if I could do, but now it's all overwhelming because I know ME2 has all those squadmates and I can't remember which order I've tried in the past and I'm also not aware of any secrets.
I've been contemplating to wait exploring Omega's side-content until I have Tali so she can talk to that Quarian mechanic maybe.
I've also had one nice moment of consequence from my ME1 save that I haven't seen before which is that if you agree to take Helena Blake's money and let her and her crime group be, when she shows up on Omega in 2, instead of being a social worker she's simply there on crimelord business expanding her ring and working under Aria.
So here's the skinny.
Everyone survived except Kaidan in ME1, also the council.
Udina is the councilor
Rachni Queen is free
Feel free to give ideas as to how I could spice up my playthrough.

Recruit Morinth then use her as second team leader during the SM (I'm not sure if her death speech is the same as Samara's, but the context seems quite different with her; particulary if she is the only one who dies on the SM and Shepard is basically a paragon). Talk with Anderson and accept re-instatement before going through the security check on the Citadel or alternatively tell them to stuff their Spectre status. You don't say, but if you romanced Ashley in ME1, try cheating on her with more than one eligible person in ME2. If you romanced Liara in ME1, try either having casual sex with Jack or be locked into an ME2 romance before doing LotSB. Then try breaking off that romance before inviting Liara to your cabin for drinks. Be sure to ask for Samara's comments near the Varren Pits on Tuchanka after having put Urz in the ring (the line doesn't change, but oh the context). Be sure to take Mordin into the infirmary on Tuchanka after Urz has lost a Varren fight.
Can't think of any more ATM. Nice idea for a thread!

Recruit Kasumi and Zaeed. Let Grunt out of the tank. Obviously Mordin, Garrus, Miranda, Jacob and Jack will be on the squad. Recruit no one else. Don't complete any side missions. Don't do any scanning. Get armor and weapon upgrade for SR2. After Horizon, complete Miranda, Jack, Kasumi, Zaeed and Mordin's loyalty mission. After collector ship, get the IFF. Complete Grunt and Jacob's loyalty mission. After the crew gets an invitation to join the collectors in the galactic core, head to the omega 4 relay. Let Garrus die from not having shields. Miranda fireteam leader both times. Kasumi for vent. Mordin as escort. Jack as barrier maintainer. Take Kasumi and Jack to fight 3 eyes. The rest to hold the line. The playthrough will be about 6-7 hours

I plan on cheating on Ashley with Tali, but I'm kind of tempted to go with several just to see her reaction. At the same time, I wanna be kinda serious too in this playthrough. I've not touched these games for a year and I'm not in the "don't care, renegade!" mode this time. I'm afraid of playing it too safe also. I usually take all the special companion combinations like Legion on Tali's loyalty mission or Mordin for Grunt's loyalty mission but I feel like I might be missing out too. ME3 has those golden moments of taking James to the Quarian rescure mission on Rannoch where he kicks a giant gun to make it work, but ME2 has a lot of shared squad commentary and only very few unique moments (or rather there's so much squad commentary that the unique is sparser). So if anyone has encountered any fun mission combinations other than the obvious I'd like to know. For example, if it was possible I'd like to wait with recruiting Garrus so Tali can come with me, but dunno. Oh, i just remembered! On my last playthrough I took Zaeed with me on Garrus' mission and to my surprise he bumps into his former aquintances when you explore the mercs bases. There was quite a lot of exclusive cutscene content there.

There was quite a lot of exclusive cutscene content there. I believe having casual sex with Jack and just going after Samara will trigger the line from Ashley that I'm thinking of; I'm not certain if romancing Tali, though, will override it and replace it with Ashley's line about cheating specifically with Tali in all cases or if it's more of a random thing. I don't think you can hold off recruiting Garrus until after Horizon. I think you have to recruit all the squad mates in that first set of dossiers before Horizon triggers; regardless of whether or not you also have Zaeed and Kasumi. Of course, if you use a save editor, you can recruit everyone in whatever order you like... unlocking tons of hidden dialogues throughout those early recruitment missions. That's correct. Zaeed does know Tarak. That reminds me of something else though (available without save editing). If you take Garrus or Grunt (i.e. non-humans) on Mordin's recruitment mission, Mordin will save them from dying from the plague. There will also be some other unique comments from either of them. If you take Kasumi and Grunt there is even some more unique dialogue.

Garrus, Jack, Grunt and Mordin have to be recruited before Horizon though Grunt can stay in the tank if the player wishes. Zaeed and Kasumi can be recruited at any time in the game. If Grunt is taken on Garrus' recruitment mission, there is a scene with Garm, the Bloodpack krgoan

Take Grunt on Garrus' recruitment and he has a few more lines of dialogue when you talk to the Blood Pack mercs.
Then take Garrus in Mordin's recruitment. He has more dialogue about the plague.
And there's the classic Legion on the flotilla. Also, if you don't mind some of the crew possibly dying in the SM, take Legion to Tali's recruitment for more lines from Reegar and Tali. Edit: Some of these things have been mentioned already

Why would any of the crew die? After getting the IFF, talk to Legion. The player can do 2 missions before the collectors board the SR2. Take Legion to recruit Tali. Its possible the loyalty mission for both may not be available at that time. So do another loyalty mission for another squadmate if possible otherwise do a side mission. After the crew is taken, use the relay right away. Do not put Legion or Tali in any spot that would get them or another squadmate killed. If Kasumi is loyal, and recruited, send her in the vent. Take the weakest squadmates to fight 3 eyes leaving Tali and Legion to hold the line. If all other squadmates are loyal, Tali and Legion will survive. After suicide, take Tali to Legion's loyalty mission and take Legion on Tali's. If Legion is taken to the Citadel, talk with Anderson. He will call the thing trophy-bot *Sidenote*: If doing the above, talk to Tali right away after recruiting her that way the player can get the shield upgrade for the Normandy.

You can even stop in at Hagalaz and re-spec everyone without worry (I do it all the time to re-spec Legion after his geth shield boost opens up on his loyalty mission). The game only counts missions and the N7 Assignments as a delay in rescuing the crew. Alternatively, you can also get the "trophy-bot" line after the SM, but I usually stop in to talk with Anderson just before the SM to either say goodbye on a friendly note or to confront him about the VS (depending on how I'm roleplaying that playthrough).

A thing I also found impressive last time I played was that Veetor and other Quarians you save can be found back on the flotilla. I believe even the minor ones like the guy on Omega or the quarians in one random N7 side mission get back. One thing that saddens me in my current playthrough is that I tried to persuade Conrad Verner in ME1 without triggering the glitch where he says you shoved a gun in his face when you didn't in ME2, so I went with normal paragon and later heard that he had went out to get himself killed over the elevator radio. So no Conrad mini-quest in ME2 or 3 for me. And I also tried to uninstall the Kasumi DLC but I fucked something up so it still showed up on my quest log and to avoid glitches I reinstalled the DLC and now I have Kasumi with me again. I wish I could omit her completely. I don't even wanna see her die and have to be sad about it. I just think she's a dumb anime character, but you have to recruit her or she'll keep interrupting squad intro-dialogue on the Citadel every time with her advertisement :/ I was also really tempted to kill the Council because the Citadel changes a lot in tone if you do so. You also meet these salty people. Also, obligatory plug. Chris L'Etoile was responsible for writing the Citadel's side content in this game

(Liara, ME3) I always get by the Verner glitch by actually sticking a gun in his face. I also frequently shoot him in ME2, just 'cause I'm a spectre and I can shoot someone in the middle of an Ilium bar and no one even questions it. I also usually take Samara along, just to, you know, impress her with my awesome renegade-ness... and I wonder why she always refuses to even let me try to kiss her.

I've had one playthrough where I did not get the "gun in my face" glitch, and it's glorious because upon arriving at the bar on Illium an asari pulls you over and slaps you in the face becuase Conrad has spoken of you.
Also, Samara's romance is really awesome. Always left a big impression on me. I'm glad they added a bit to it in Citadel DLC though because it was saddening how little she seemed to remember she had rejected you in the main game of 3.

Yeah, I've never been able to get slapped by the Asari. I don't think it's even possible on the Xbox 360 without modding in some way. So, I just go with the flow and stick the gun in his face regardless. The first time I played, I triggered a comment from Kaidan right after. He said he wasn't a big fan of crowds... but I thought he said "krauts." (my hearing isn't as sharp as it once was). My mouth must have dropped a mile and it left me wondering whether or not I actually had two real racists on the squad.

The only other thing so far that comes to my mind is rallying the crowd during Tali's trial, in case you've never done that. Could be interesting to see, but you need both Veetor and Kal'Reegar and must ask them to speak on Tali's behalf during the trial.

The problem is that in the save file it checks both the paragon and renegade persuade when you persuade conrad either way, so in ME2 it imports what it reads first I think.

You can visit any of the hubs to shop, etc. (Omega, Citadel, Illium, Tuchanka) even after the crew is taken and the crew will not die. That's another thing I don't agree with. Why do half the crew die if a mission is completed, but not visiting a hub? It takes time to travel to that hub, time the crew doesn't have. Only if the dlc is completed.

One thing I've never been able to do successfully... and that is actually talk to the Hacked Mechs during the Lazarus Mission (very first one). When I'm down on the lower level, I can see an indicator, but the "Select A" is not yet active, but as soon as I get nearly close enough for the "A" to highlight, the mechs start to wake up and the opportunity is lost. Is it even possible to engage in some sort of dialogue with them? If so, how does one get within range to activate the conversation before waking the mechs up? Does anyone know what they actually say?

It's a glitch. It's the same when you meet Bailey after Priority: Mars in ME3 there's a split second after the cutscene where there's an indicator right where Bailey stood and it disappears just before you get to turn the camera and select it.
Also, I remembered that taking Grunt to Recruit Archangel triggers a special conversation with Garm, the Blood Pack leader, where he asks why Grunt is with Shepard and you get to defend him.

Here's a tip that can save everyone 1,000 Credits. Buy Chakwas' brandy in the Dark Star on the Citadel, not Omega. On Omega, the 1,000 credit price is actually deducted; however, in the Dark Star, it says it's deducting the credits but it doesn't actually reduce the amount in your inventory at all. I figure Miranda must have an account there... "it's a nice enough place [ for her] after all."

Taking Mordin on Grunt's recruitment mission generates unique dialogue when Shepard is debating about taking Grunt back to the ship. Mordin also has one of the best lines (IMO) when telling the first merc to start limping.
Of course, one has to choose whether or not to do this or to take Grunt on Mordin's recruitment mission (as posted earlier).
Also, if one gets Kasumi and then immediately brings her onto the squad before going through the Citadel Security Checkpoint the first time, she will make an extra comment when the alarm goes off as Shepard is scanned. She will also make a comment when talking to Avina on the Lower Level about poverty in the wards.

I tried to get the "Become spectre before door scanner" scene but it's impossible without save-modding. You have to reach the door scanner to unlock the transit system but at least Bailey greeted me with "Spectre, shepard!"

You have to reach the door scanner to unlock the transit system but at least Bailey greeted me with "Spectre, shepard!" I guess that's what my son did then (he plays on the PC). Sorry for the misunderstanding. Too bad. I'll be more careful about filtering his input in future.

Here's two that don't even appear in the Wiki.
If you take Zaeed with you when talking to the female at the security desk on the Citadel (and you don't have another squad mate that will override him), Zaeed will cut in (similar to Legion) and say: "You're wasting your time. Geth don't infiltrate."
If you take Grunt with you the first time you go through the Security Checkpoint on the Citadel (and you don't have another squad mate that will override him), Grunt will say "What is this crap." when the alarm goes off.
These can definitely be triggered without mods (I double-checked them myself on the Xbox 360 this morning).
Also, when you question Avina about Sovereign being a reaper, Zaeed will cut in with " "So, the Council's lying - there's a shock. Why spook people with the damn Reapers when you can blame everything on the geth?" (This one is in the Wiki, but I did trigger myself also this morning without mods.)
