The reason I ask you this is becuz there is this guy on my friend list who continues to play ME3 MP almost on a daily basis after 5 years of its release. Apparently he just loves the game that much. A few times I attempted to join him but couldn't find the time at the end.
I'm aware the new gameplay has a few things different from ME3. But the action will definitely hone your senses back to top form and now that the release date is decided it feels like the right time to head straight into the adrenaline rushes again. The only concern is whether I can still find active lobbies or not without having to wait an hour at minimum. What do you think?

There are a lot of people still playing, although not so many stellar pugs. Here might be a good place to start!

Pop is less than 3 minutes normally on bronze and silver, and most games are pretty good. I started playing in September, iirc, and never had problems. What few gold games I played was with Bsn friends, but the lobbys backfill vacant spots on those. If you already have a friend who is playing, you will have no trouble getting games. And, if you get into a quiet zone, it's always easy to try a solo.

I ran a few Gold matches last week on Xbox as I want to get back into the MP too. I didn't have any problems getting matched, went straight into a game every time.

Having no problems finding Gold lobbies in under a minute on PC, although I have noticed that during off hours it may decide to throw me into a different difficulty for the sake of getting a faster match. Not a huge deal, it did this when I mained PS3 a few years ago, but it does seem to happen more than it used to. Probably because of the population size.
Make sure you install all five free DLC packs (if you haven't already), you can only be matched with people who have the same DLCs as you, so you want to hit the largest player pool.

Strange. I've been getting fast queues on Xbox with little to no issue. Except for latency with the host. /shudder
For the most part, however, it's been fine. I just need to remember that I'm playing a cover shooter, and I'll probably die a lot less than I'm normally used to.

I'm officially Multiplayer retired.
After achieving my lifelong dream of reaching top 1% of both N7 Ranking and Challenge Ranking in the entire world, I am done. That doesn't mean everyone else has stopped though -- last time I played, there was still a healthy(ish) playerbase on PC. I doubt it's decreased much since then, so finding a match should be real easy.

The only time out I took from ME3, since release, was during DA play.
DR lured me into it, with the impending release of DAI ... so I did multiple runs through DAO and DA2 ... using the Keep to create the worlds for DAI.
But once I did my last run in DAI, went back to ME3 ... in part to finish my SP runs (using the latest version of MEHEM and EU) ... and returned to ME3MP.
Several folks on my FL have already ordered ME:A and are looking forward to MEAMP.
So ... I guess I consider myself "warmed up" for MP and now just looking forward to MEAMP ... hoping BioWare gets it right.

I have no issues finding gold lobbies on Xbox. Considering that ME3 can be played on Xbox One now, I am assuming that a lot more people got back into it or play a few games every now and then.

I tried getting back.
But then I soon came across with one of the main reasons I had left in the first place:
After months of playing online games which have dedicated servers, proper netcoding and lag compensation, my eyes can no longer handle this.

Haha that is some insane lag. The new game will be the same. For a big name studio like bioware, it's amazing to see just how bad their game developers are and how poor their resources are.

Haha that is some insane lag. The new game will be the same. For a big name studio like bioware, it's amazing to see just how bad their game developers are and how poor their resources are. Their netcoding is horrible. Probably the worst in business as far as AAA titles go. ME3MP and DAMP have the worst netcoding I have seen in recent games. I mean, if I am going to play with someone from another continent I do expect some lag. But rubber-banding, teleporting, no lag compensation whatsoever, this is not acceptable for a big title from a serious company.

So, I played a ton of ME3MP back in the day, though I 'retired' when DA: Inquisition came out late 2014. Both are the games I have played the most in my life. According to Origin I have 2.7k hours in ME3 and 3.3k hours in DA:I. For me, ME3 was a great game, my first serious MP game and thus I use it as benchmark - particularly against DAMP, a game which despite playing so much I've always considered a to be an unpolished mess.
Though I played a few ME3MP matches now and then after having 'retired' from it, I didn't play any over the last year. I didn't play much DAMP either. I took advantage to get to know other games out there, and I had a blast playing Evolve, Overwatch and Titanfall 2, as well as a the campaign mode of a few other titles.
Now to warm up for MEAMP I decided to get back to ME3 this week and after doing so, ugh... it doesn't feel right. Firstly there are so many characters to choose from, yet some are so much better than others that having to pick out one feels stupid. I mean, why would you want to choose the Volus Mercenary over the QME? To have a few laughs maybe, or perhaps some headache? The gap is so tremendous that getting lower tier characters feels silly, while getting high tier ones feels cheap. In DAMP (which is supposed to be an inferior game... right?) there are 17 characters and they are pretty balanced among them. In fact there are no characters necessarily better than others, it all comes down to their roles.
And then there comes another issue with ME3: there are no roles! Except when everybody is camping behind a Juggernaut and there is a shield spamming Volus, but otherwise the only existing role is the DPS one. It is the only role that gets XP. Nothing else awards XP. There is no incentive whatsoever not to play as straight-DPS-bitch-mode as possible. In fact, if you do not do so you are gimping yourself and possibly harming the team.
After 4 matches I had enough. I don't see the point in ME3MP anymore. Today I got invited to play DAMP, played 5 hours of it and had a decent time playing, and it felt much more meaningful and rewarding than ME3MP. While DAMP is supposedly a worse, utterly unpolished game, it has a better proposition. A true co-op proposition. ME3MP feels like a single player game in a 4 Vs AI format.
Now I fear what MEAMP is going to be like, a bit more than I already did.
