Poor Skjall. I had Ciri in a towel for the bath. Seemed...Awkward considering Geralt is a father figure.
And I gave the mini hero his first kiss it was nice to see Ciri wanting to save the village and the masked man stopping her.

So Yennifer jumped into some Black Magic there. Made the ladies mad.
Wanted to cure the Werewolf of his curse. So I could make sure he stayed dead. Found his old friend, talked him out of the fang, cured the guy, asked for my reward, then punched him in the face before pulling my sword, setting him on fire, and the glory kill was quite glorious. And flamey. No regrets.
Off to do stuff with Yennifer. She's a hot cold kinda gal.

Haha, I did many of those things the exact same way. I wrapped Ciri into a towel too (and in my mind told her "You'll be home at 10!" ), gave Skjall a pity kiss and killed the werewolf after curing him. And yeah, Yennefer has this hot ice queen thing going on. But if she has to fuck up half a country to help Geralt or Ciri, she'll do it without hesitation.

So. I'm not in love with Yennifer. But I couldn't tell her I wasn't, so now they're together. I don't feel so bad about it- the mask wasn't to find the Djinn and the search for one wasn't too bad at all.
Next time I play, I'm going for Triss. I really admire her mage underground ways. Maybe it's the Thedas in me talking. Hopefully the post genie talk on that PT won't be horribly awkward.
I got my fancy blacksmith tools and I'm back at Crows Perch. Ugh. Bad memories here in this ugly country.
I will haven't settled on killing Radovid. I think I won't.

Mhm, I don't think Emhyr burns mages. Aside from the fact that he seems to prefer hanging, Geralt mentions that "Emhyr keeps mages on a short leash" at some point. Nilfgaard has a sorceress or two serving Emhyr, too.
Somewhere around the camp of the Nilfgaardian Army Group Center in Velen, there is an obscure document to be found that might give you a hint about what's behind these Radovid murder plans.

Apparently I was in a long cut scene where I returned to Kear Morhen. I'd only been there in a dream sequence but it was nostalgic nonetheless. Also, finally, after all that chasing- the closest to home Geralt will ever be. Almost as grand as Skyhold.
Yennifer was being obnoxiously jealous but I understand it went I I think she's overreacting. You can't say you didn't bother finding Geralt because you'd figure e was alright and memory full and then grouch about what he got up to.
Now I really am going to bed. I'll o looking for that document you mentioned. Emhyr didn't seem so bad when I visited and if he really is kinder to mages, well... Radovid broke a University so he lost points for that and of course there is all that Eternal Fire BS

Nilfgaard has a sorceress or two serving Emhyr, too. Somewhere around the camp of the Nilfgaardian Army Group Center in Velen, there is an obscure document to be found that might give you a hint about what's behind these Radovid murder plans. I don't quite remember the details but in Witcher 2, isn't there some info on mages in Nilfgaard, that says that they basically treat their mages similar to the Qunari in DA (i.e. keep them basically locked up and only let them out when they are needed)? I remember something about the harsh life for mages in Nilfgaard in W2 and I thought Yennifers relative freedom in W3 was sort of a specialty as Emhyr needs her and Geralt to track down Ciri. Not so sure though. In my first playthrough, I didn't support the plotters all the way. Still found Thaler but didn't finish the second quest. My main reason for this was that I came straight from Witcher 2 and I had a very clear image of Nilfgaard as being the aggressor in this war. They were the ones who ultimately manipulated events in Witcher 2 from afar. They were the ones who used the northern sorcerers and sorceresses to murder the kings and saw chaos in the north, so they could invade. One could even say that they were also the ones who pushed Radovid of the brink (he was still quite reasonable, if stern, in Witcher 2). So, with that in mind, I was certainly not about to get involved in killing the only leader the north had left - sane or no - in a decicive time of the war and thus very likely hand victory to Emhyr (especially also given the creed of Witcher neutrality). This time around, I'm gonna help them because (careful here, this is a tough spoiler, don't click if you haven't played through the game yet) I want to see the ending where Ciri gets empress

Personally I would never let Nilfgaard or Radovid win, Nilfgaard has been the aggressor in 3 wars and Emhyr var Emreis is a vile bastard, Radovid is a madman who would slaughter all magic users. You said earlier you wanted a Northern ruler who would be strong independent and treat everybody fairly, I would stick with that idea.

How do you make it so neither win? (Spoilers tags please) You kill Radovid and put Dijkstra in power. Dijkstra and Philippa virtually ruled Redania when Vizimir II was in power, and in the early days of Radovid's rule. In the military intelligence book you could get from Thaler by drinking with him in witcher 1, Dijkstra was said to be the most intelligent man in the land. Thaler and Roche want to sell out and make Temeria a vassal state of Nilfgaard and let Emhyr have the rest of the North. Given the way Emhyr had annexed all the counties in the south, you can imagine how long Temeria would last. So after Radovid is killed, Geralt has to do the distasteful act of walking away and leaving Thaler, Roche, and Ves to their fate. (Knowing full well what it will be.) Then the North wins the war and all of the countries of the North (except Kovir) are united under Sigi's rule. He's not that popular, but he drags everybody kicking and screaming into a prosperous future with an economy built on industry, giving people jobs and treating everybody equally. Much the same model as Redania was under Vizimir II the Just.
On a related matter, if you talk to the bootblack in witcher 1, he seems remarkably intelligent and well informed for a shoeshine. If you say that to him he will clam up. But if you get that book from Thaler, you'll notice no one wants to buy it, but if you go back to the bootblack after the first conversation, you will have the option of giving him the book as a gift. To which he'll reply "You know who I am?" His name is Ori Reuven , he used to be Dijkstra's assistant. (from whom Dijkstra took his alias after Philippa tried to have him assassinated.) In return he will give you the Prophet Lebioda's ring that is said to be very popular with the elderly, you can wear it, and show it to Shani's landlady to get up to Shani's room. On a unrelated matter, I was just reading last night about Canterella. I usually overlooked her being a Nilfgaarding spy and have sex with her anyway. But in the book, she is Vattier de Rideaux's mistress. She is 18 and very beautiful and very good in bed. He thinks she is a dumb piece of fluff, (which is want she wants him to think) She is not taken seriously as a spy because everyone knows she's just the boss's bit on the side. But she is actually highly intelligent and has a photographic memory and is working for the Lodge of Sorceress'. You get a hint of this when she tells you she had heard about Geralt's prowess from Fringilla, and how he would always help a lady in distress. It was her who told the Sorceress' that Emhyr never had Ciri and was marrying a fake Ciri, a Ciri look alike. Carthia van Canten was Canterella's real name.(In the book she was a blonde) Assire var Anahid was a Nilfgaadian sorceress and a founding member of the Lodge of Sorceress' This extract just shows how inept Thaler and Roche were in Witcher 2. They were part of that failed conspiracy plot to replace Emhyr with Voorhan. It never stood a chance, Dijkstra knew of it, the lodge of Sorceress' knew of it, Vattier knew about it, though he never expected them to succeed, he never informed Emhyr on the off chance that it might. (He was "loyal" to the Emperor, but didn't like him as a man.) Emhyr knew about it from other sources, and even Esterad Thyssen knew about it all the way in Kovir. i.imgur.com/7zhxINf.jpg

You said earlier you wanted a Northern ruler who would be strong independent and treat everybody fairly, I would stick with that idea. I was under the assumption that it was either one or the other. Or is leaving them in their current state a possibility, similar to just ignoring the Civil War in Skyrim? My only clue is my husband looked up why side I would want to support at the start of this and then gave me this. "Support the North. Carefully." And killing Radovid is no where close to supporting the North carefully I was wanting to support Cerys for the throne and kind of just fell into it correctly. I had helped one of the Jarls stop being crazy and he spoke up for me at the crucial moment. At least I figured that helped the son fess up... I don't know how to resolve the civil war when the only mission I've gotten about the kings is to help kill Radovid.

I was wanting to support Cerys for the throne and kind of just fell into it correctly. I had helped one of the Jarls stop being crazy and he spoke up for me at the crucial moment. At least I figured that helped the son fess up... You can't really go wrong with Skellige, though I prefer to help both of Crach an Craite's kids, but stay out of their politics. Svanrige keeps Skellige strong and fiercely Skelligan. I don't know how to resolve the civil war when the only mission I've gotten about the kings is to help kill Radovid. The war with Nilfgaad is not a Civil war, they are separate countries. But even if you don't want to kill Radovid, you should still talk to Sigi. He never expects Geralt to kill the King, he only wants you to track down and rescue Thaler, the Chief of Temerian intelligence. It's a short light hearted quest, but it keeps your options open for later. Just as excepting Radovid's quest didn't mean you had to kill Philippa Eilhart. It just enabled you to find out what she was up to. ie trying to regain her eyesight. And if Triss was still with you at the time you could have used her megascope crystal to eavesdrop on her conversation. If the kill Radovid quest hasn't already been marked as failed, (It does after a certain event) Then I would go and rescue Thaler. Incidentally, if you did the White Orchard quest about the old woman an the frying pan, you might have found Thaler's monocle in that house, as he was the spy who needed to write the note. So one can just ignore the war entirely and find Ciri anyway? It's an option, but you might not like the end result.
