Crap. I think I picked the wrong ending. I wanted Syanna to die and for Geralt to go to jail
You get that if Detlaff kills Syanna but you don't kill Detlaff, I think?

I realized it as Regis and Geralt we're back at the meeting place for Detlaff. Realized that Syanna was safely locked away in the palace while I was risking life and limb to fight the Elder Unseen. Not a ton of regrets though, learned more about Vampires. But also learned how much of a hardcore bro Regis is. Geralt didn't even try to go get Syanna and try to resolve everything peacefully. Yet Regis still stood by Geralt. Reminds me of Roche helping Geralt in TW2 anyway even though I'd sided non humans. Guess I'll have to go through that awful fake world with Syanna to get the ending I want. And this time, not be tempted by a stupid Gwent Challenge that ends up accidentally saving the cow I don't like XD

I would be ok giving Detlaff a pass if he hadn't attacked the city. He was definitely used and lied to by Syanna. But he chose, on his own, to call up his vampires buddies for fun and games, just because he didn't get his way, and that isn't ok.

I think Regis's final line about deserving rest is like the gentlest goodbye one could hear from a video game.

My perfect ending would be Syanna actually punished by her sister. Detlaff dead, and Regis NOT exiled from his own kind.
No go on that front. Now that I've tried all the endings, I'm not entirely satisfied with any of them. The "happy" ending where everyone lives but Detlaff just feels like rewarding Syanna for being such a terrible person, and Anna for abusing her power for mere sentimentality.

That's kinda where I ended up too. I love the rest of it though. Lots of fun.

I still need to do the Roach quest but that will be the final thing I do. Probably uninstall Witcher games at that point.

The "happy" ending where everyone lives but Detlaff just feels like rewarding Syanna for being such a terrible person, and Anna for abusing her power for mere sentimentality. I felt the same way. I ultimately went with the ending were both sisters died. I figured if Regis was going to suffer from the sisters selfish decisions, then let them pay with their lives.

Turned on the game a final time for this Roach Talking quest.
The refusal option for the quest was worded pretty hilarious
"Stop taking hallucinagens. Problem will take care of itself."

So cool. Roach solved the case. Geralt barely helped. The look on Geralt's face when he realized he'd never speak to Roach again. Almost felt as bummed as when Ciri became Empress. I try to remind myself that e has Yennifer (in my head, even if not in this game) but I realize it's not the same. Roach is like an equine Witcher, and I've felt connected to all my fellow Witchers the entire series. So it's more like saying goodbye to a fellow Witcher, and no sorceress knows the Path.

There is so much emotion in this series that I can't sum it up in any satisfying fashion. I'm glad I went to Witcher 2 and played forward, because I met Iorveth, Roche, and Letho. I'm glad I met Regis. More time spent with Dandelion was both good and bad for his character. Such a flawed man child. Without Witcher 2, Zoltan would have remained a Tropey Dwarf of tropey-ness. Witcher 2 gave me a deeper dislike for the Sorceress Lodge. Witcher 2 made me love the world, because I fought to change it. In Witcher 3, I felt more like I was riding a wave of chaos, and there was little I could do to affect the outcome. We were helping Ciri find her destiny. Interesting. Witcher 2 is still my favorite.
Unfortunately, romancing Triss unearthed no particular depth to her character. I prefer the version of the game where I ask her to stay and she chooses to leave. I admired her independence in that choice, and I admired that she was putting her life on the line to get everyone to Korvir. With what I know of the books, what I watched on Youtube of Witcher 1, and what I experienced myself, she was not meant to be with Geralt.
That doesn't necessarily mean that Geralt is meant to be with Yennifer though. She showed a lot of bad behavior on the Triss romance path that seemed almost OCC unless her being a stalker is actually her character. Other than the fact that Triss shows up at the end of Blood and Wine, the writers for that DLC assumed a Yenn romance. It was really obvious, even in the last quest I performed. "Equine Phantoms." When Geralt says to the hermit, "Ignore me if I bring up unicorns and sorceresses." Of course I'm used to Bioware Romance quality here, where no one LI is more "canon" than any of the others. I've never felt like any of the Bioware games picked my romance for me. So I'm not so certain I'd say that Yennifer is "the one" but I also would say that, of the two real options and handful of psuedo options, I prefer Yenn out of the bunch.
I'm glad I played the Witcher twice. What better compliment can a video game get than that is was completely enjoyed? Sentimentally, I find it hard to uninstall the game. I suppose I'll let it linger upon my computer a while longer yet.
My Witcher adventures, seeing through the eyes of Geralt, are over folks. Thank you for tagging along.
