My Fight against Cheaters

I've come across different kinds of cheaters, and I'm beginning to notice more and more, but I guess that comes with playing more and more. In the beginning, I could tell obvious cheaters but now I'm starting to notice the more subtle kinds.

I remember I'd only been playing maybe 2 days or so and I accidentally joined a NM lobby and I was like , but unbeknownst to me the host was using that guard/barrier mod. I just thought it was some kind of special ability and didn't know it was a cheat. I figured it out a day or so later. When I see those lobbies I simply leave. I didn't think to report them because the game is old now and I wondered if anything would be done about it anyway. I see people using that mod even on routine and I'm like "Whhyyyy?"

I don't understand cheaters at all. I play because I simply enjoy playing and accomplishing things along the way. I love challenging myself and pushing myself harder and harder and to do better. It's how I was in SP as well. I guess for some people it's all about winning and gaining prestige, even if it's a dishonest method. That's not me, and never will be. I don't understand that mentality.

I wasn't sure if one person I encountered was a cheater or not, because I wasn't aware that some mods don't need to be used by the host in order to work. I was playing as an AW, then another AW entered. Suddenly my spirit blade stopped charging and was stuck at 50. Then suddenly it went up and stayed at 99. It appeared that this other AW had some kind of mod for infinite charges? I wasn't sure if it was a mod or bug. I was still relatively new at the time and sometimes it's hard to tell if it's a bug or a mod.

Then of course there's the leechers who join lobbies and then the host leechers like in Witty's video. They start a Perilous or NM lobby and do nada while the rest of us carry their leechy ass. Or that's what they hope will happen. I'm seeing more and more of them lately, but perhaps that's because I have moved up to Perilous and some NM lobbies. If I've got friends in the lobby, we can get them kicked. We also spread word between ourselves as to who to look out for. Most of the time I'll observe them for a few matches to see if there's a pattern. We've all had to go afk during a match before, so the first time I see i I might give the benefit of the doubt, if it happens a few times, it's obvious that they're looking for a free ride.

And finally there's the troll-cheat. I've been dealing with a certain individual since just a few days into my MP journey. I encountered them probably around day 3 or 4 and they were a thorn in my side for maybe a month straight, possibly more. Then I started to make friends, gain promotions, and I stopped feeling upset by them sabotaging lobbies everywhere I was. Some new people just don't know to kick vote or don't want to for some reason. I've seen Frank's other video that name and shame LB cheaters and I'm fairly certain this person is on the list, but has since changed their username. This person likes to bully/troll new players and often hangs around routine and threatening lobbies, looking for fresh players to annoy. Sometimes they appear helpful, other times they do everything they can to ruin a game, because they can. This person has done it to several people I know and has been at it for a while.

I don't know how to class this person, cheater, troll, cheat/troll? An asshole. I don't know and I don't care, but we now kickvote them every time they turn up in our lobby. They attempted to sabotage a friend's lobby a few nights ago and he reported them the following night when they turned up again in his lobby. I had only just logged on and he asked me to join so he could get the person kicked , so sure enough I turn up and the troll left before I even had the chance to cast a vote. But they came back later, and we booted them. Nobody wants to deal with this kind of player day in and day out but reporting and kicking is the only thing we can do. Very likely nothing will be done about it, but enough is enough already. At least by kickvoting, we send a loud and clear message that we're not putting up with their nonsense anymore and they're not welcome in our lobbies.

Again, I suspect they cheat, as do others (like I said, fairly sure this person was on Frank's LB cheaters video), and I have observed them enough to suspect their skills do not reflect their status on the LB. But at the very least they are an annoying troll who has to go around joining lobbies simply to be a pain and nobody wants to play with them. A very sad, pathetic individual.
