Purpose of Andromeda mission

I think the official mission is a cover up and the aim is the same as the biblical ark, saving races from extinction.
If this is not the case, well...the whole thing doesn't make much sense to me.

Yeah, when I read that I assumed they had plans to build relays or some I can't believe it's not a relay type substitute. Idle thought. Probably a thought someone has already had. The Citadel is a big relay that moves things from the space between galaxies. The Hyperion looks a bit like it was designed with the Citadel in mind.

(I wonder whether the native Andromedans will have a slur for the new visitors. 'Milkies'? 'Sucklings'? 'Chocos'? (you know, from the milky way chocolate bar))

The reason for going to Andromeda is so that Bioware can make a game that doesn't have to worry about the ME3 endings or anybody's save games. It allows them to start the whole thing completely fresh with no baggage.

The in-game reason is primarily the pioneering spirit of adventure and discovery that drove us to put a man on the moon and is currently inspiring others to work towards a manned mission to Mars.

The bit about the eventual link to the Milky Way does seem odd without some form of Relay tech but the Protheans created a relay between Ilos and the Citadel so it's possible the AI is planning to do something similar.

Of course, as soon as it manages that it ruins Bioware's plan to isolate MEA from the Trilogy and the decisions of the Trilogy which suggests that whatever they were planning to do to link to the MW is not going to work!

Well your supposed to complete construction of the Nexus once you've found a suitable planet to colonize, & i would put money on the Nexus turning out to be a mobile relay that will link to the MW some how.

Well, yeah, if we're gonna be all meta about it.
