I doubt it is an AI that is the Benefactor, since if that was the case why did they need SAM as an AI for the project. I'm hoping that the Benefactor isn't a single person but is actually a group of people, like the Illuminati in the Deus Ex franchise. As for how they know about the Reapers, there are people who figured it out or at least that something was coming.

Personally, I like my LIs as horrible as they can get, so I'd be all over that. But if it makes you feel any better, BW has been moving away from letting players romance genuine bad guys, so the chances of Reyes being actually nice and helpful to the Initiative are pretty high. How? The last game they released literally has an LI that wants to destroy the world and all those who live in it. His reasons are too selfless. Originally he wanted to free his people from slavery, now he wants to bring that old world back (without slavery I assume) however much it pains him (see his "I'm sorry" scene with Flemeth). I want someone who was always out for himself and his own pleasure.

It's more that they are more fiddly than a desktop... if I want to remove one thing, there's a 90% chance I have to remove 6 other things first also the fact that laptop GPUs are all integrated as standard (unlike desktops where they can be removed and switched out), I'm really hoping that it's merely a software issue, because if my graphics card itself is fried/frying it means the only other option is to get a new computer... which I have nowhere near enough money for... hell... I don't have enough money to get my laptop checked at a store! Also I highly doubt they'd do anything I haven't already tried... But the main problem is how long I've been wrestling with this problem... it started early this month, and got better-ish... (I was able to get past CC in ME:A finally) but I only got on average 50mins gametime before a crash... now though, the entire screen locks up the second I open chrome after startup I won't give up on it though, I CAN DO THIS Yes you can! I believe in you. But really, that sucks so I feel for you. I'm in a position myself right now that if my GPU or anything else went out that I can't really afford to fix it at the moment. Hahaha thanks for the support! A little more error reading, and I may, may have hit something useful... This is literally the start date of my woes, followed by every crash since! (gaps in dates are days I didn't play ME:A) :sob: Event log says these were all Kernel stuff, so it's at least ONE problem... but its Kernel. I sooo don't wanna go in blind with Kernel.... There are 4 other drop down lists of other event logs I have to read through too... urghhh!

After all he is literally the only person on the planet that would benefit from his plan working since everyone else will be dead. He is upset his plan and wants the world he likes back, no matter what the cost to others. Even ancient elves, the people he is supposedly trying to help, are killed without hesitation merely by questioning the plan.

What would Solas gain from recreating a world with no one but him in it? If he was a truly evil guy, his motives could have been something like "I was a God in the old world, I'd rather be a God of Nothing than a random person in this New World". But BW never even remotely hinted at anything like that, and so I doubt that's what they have in mind. They keep talking about how most of the elves in the old world were slaves, and how Fen Harel wanted to help them, despite being a "God", and all he did was for them. That's not a selfish motivation. If there was anything suggesting that in the "modern" Thedas he just wants his own power back I'd be all over him, but he still seems to want the old one back because of "the People (they need me)". That's just not selfish enough for me.

I want someone who was always out for himself and his own pleasure. Every villain is a hero in his own mind. No one is out there being intentionally evil for no reason. There is always a purpose or a reason why they act that way. Even Hitler, in his own mind, was wanting to propagate the Aryan race, especially the downfall Germany suffered after WWI. Just because someone has good intentions from their own mind doesn't mean that those actions would come out as benevolent to those affected by it. In many wars, the opposite side is always seen as evil, that's called a narration. Each side has their own narration which portray the other side as evil but also has their own view as to why they're the good guys. Even with the current conflicts in our current world, there are always 2 narrations between 2 countries at war. From Solas' point of view, he's the good guy, but to the rest of Thedas, he's the bad guy for wanting to exterminate them.

As for the current Solas, he has the power of a god and the Fade isn't even down yet. Most likely after he restores the world of the ancient elves he will create new beings top inhabit it. Anyone who has genocide as part of their plan and is totally fine with it is a truly evil person. Anyway, we should drop this before it gets out of hand.

I assure you, I'm very, very aware of that. I'm not trying to debate the motivations of most villains, or how "well intentioned" they are, or assume themselves to be. I'm actually looking for a very specific kind of romance, with a guy whose motivations aren't debatable. They're evil. They benefit him and only him. But I'm going to put my examples under a spoiler so as not to clog up the thread with off topic stuff... Let me bring up this old-school (and not even canon) example again - the Sarevok romance mod in BG ToB, on the evil path. So here's the Big Bad of the first game, who only ever wanted power, and was willing to shed as much innocent blood as needed to gain it. He failed, due to your intervention. But, in the ToB add-on, he has finally realized he can't do it. And yet he sees another way - he could ally himself with you, the most powerful player in the game, and still achieve a position of power in the world. So he tries to convince you to let him do just that. And with the mod, you can - excuse my language - fuck him (literally), and do just that. Become an evil God, and have him as your right hand, just as he wanted.
Another, non-romance (tho I wish it was) example - in Fallout: New Vegas you can join Caesar's Legion, a faction of murderers and rapists, who crucify their victims and believe firmly in a "might makes right" idea. At the end of their questline you bow before Caesar and get a coin minted with your likeness on it. So I'd like to have a romance there. Let me romance one of the named officers of the Legion and become his slave-wife. It would only take a few lines and one additional slide in the ending, you know? But of course, that would be controversial, despite happening purely due to my choice as a player.
This is the kind of romance options I'm looking for. I don't want them to be the only ones, but I want them to be there. And I think I may be out of luck.
Addendum, lol: I'd totally bang Frollo from Disney's version of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. That particular interplay of desire, power and violence is irresistible to me. Gimme a romance option like that video games, I dare you.

I get it, and it's still not an evil enough motivation for me. If he can restore the world and create new beings, good for him. But I just think BW didn't make it clear enough that this is his motivation, if it indeed is. Anyway, I'm not a Solas apologist or trying to stir trouble. He's genuinely not bad enough for my liking. But I agree this is not the thread for this discussion.

This kinda remind me of Fallout 4. We have well intention extremist which seen as an asshole like Danse (my favorite romance), a straight up bad guy romance like Gage (a raider who only wants profit and money) or Suvi (happy to kill whoever and loves it when you do selfish actions or kill innocent people), somewhere in between like McCree (Who is ok with killing because he's a mercenary but still has reservation about it) or Hancock (use any means necessary to kill the bad guys and is fine with lowlife criminals who are outcasts), or straight up goody-two-shoes (Curie, Preston, Piper). This game really has something for everyone. If only they have kissing and romance scenes like Bioware. Fallout 4 would have been perfect.

Interesting... if you do the Fact or Fiction quest after saving the Moshae, you can talk about how the Kett want the Angara's bioelectricity and that's partly why they are capturing them. For study. My guess is the Archon thinks they could be used to activate the vaults since he is still unaware of SAM at this point, and PeeBee's Remnant box we found on Eos did react to Jaal's bioelectricity.
Also I decided not to flirt with Jaal on Aya and when Sara says she loves everything about Aya, Jaal comments on the air and breeze being his fav, just like Sara says about the air and breeze being her fav thing about the mountain on Earth during the love scene. Cute!

Completely off-topic discussion of animal illness below. Well damn it, my cat has a tumor. She's in surgery right now, and I'm supposed to pick her up in a couple hours. The vet wasn't very optimistic and said that about 90% of tumors in cats turn out to be malignant. She's not even a very old cat. I'm in a bit of a shocked daze now, but it's funny, I've had a bout of anxious depression for the last fortnight or so that I felt came out of nowhere, but now it feels like I've been anticipating this somehow, despite having no reason to. I've noticed a little bump on her belly only a few days ago. Anyway, sorry, I'm just stressed rn and had to share somewhere.

It's somehow more painful to talk about it to the people irl that know my cat, if that makes sense. I hope I can at least buy her time, and spare her any pain. Or it may still turn out all right.
