In Andromeda we should get a race of superhot males. We might if the Drell came along for the trip, since they were created for that exact reason in ME2. So they didn't done a very good job. I don't think drell are THAT attractive.

I don't have a problem with the Asari looking female, despite being a monogendered race. If you define female as "the ones who get the babies" every Asari is potentially female. The problem is more they made them look too human. You could argue that other species might feed their young ones with gland secretions (yep, yummy, isn't it?), but the Asari are so blatantly bang-material it left a sour taste for me on their entire race that no amount of head-canoning can erase. Here's where my endless ability to cynicism comes handy: Im just like, well, they make games so they would sell. Expect titties and bang-material. No, seriously, most Asari don't bother me but I hated Samara's dress so much I never used her. Come to think of it, I never used Miranda either because she was like some porn-star. Hm. I'm so cynical I dump half of the companions to rot in their chambers because they are made to be bang-material. My parties are...all males. My games are alarmingly all-male games. So actually I just bury the bang-material somewhere, out of eyes, out of mind. Then again, I did same to Jacob, and he was also meant to be bang-material! Just not for males. The things you learn about yourself here! I seem to hate bang-material and cynically just abandon it to rot in hell. Save Kaidan. Kaidan can come with me anytime. Come to think of it, Thane was also made to be bang-material (ever heard the story about how they showed his concept art to female employees to learn if they would think he is attractive? That's how we ended up with the Thane we got) and I loved him from the bottom of my gay heart. I just felt Jacob to be so...cheesy, and Thane wasn't. Thane was my bromance. I'm sure Jaal will be my everything-romance (BioWare make it happen!) Now I didn't make much sense. No, it made perfect sense to me. I feel the same, especially regarding Samara and Miranda. They are interesting characters, if you manage to look beyond their... defining physical features, which is really hard. I didn't find anything unusual about the way Bioware's "male eye-candy" looks, but maybe I just don't see it. I think they designed Thane and Jaal (totally on topic here ) to be attractive by not giving them any repelling or too unfamiliar features that would make them less relatable. And by that I mean a lot more than some hairstyle or jaw issues.

Half finn/swede here Sadly I was never taught finnish:/ Nej men va har vi här! En svensk! I can only this bastard-version of Swedish that is spoken in veeeeery tiny area in Finland, we can blaim my ex-husband for that. His family was so finnish-swedish he couldn't speak finnish much when we met. We ended up speaking two languages, I spoke Finnish, he answered in Swedish and vice versa. I understand Swedish quite well, I just don't speak it. But English has grown into me so much I even have dreams in English. Jag kan bara säga "hyvää joulua" på finska;P I generally prefer speaking and thinking in english than in swedish for some reason. I started reading novels in english at an early age so it kind of comes natural to me (with a few exceptions^^) I even speak english with my bf and he is 100% swedish. I find english to be a much more expressive language 😊

HOW DARE YOU ALL. GET OUT OF MY AMERICAN FORUM YOU EUROPEANS. THERE'S ENGLISH HERE SO IT BELONGS TO AMERICA. IT MIGHT BE A CANADIAN GAME BUT IT STILL BELONGS TO AMERICA. Lol, totally, totally kidding. But I bet you can guess my nationality. I love that these games draw in such a widespread audience! As for information, I'm not expecting much today. I'm still just hoping we even get that gameplay video tomorrow, since there's radio silence on the dev half. I'm still so giddy at the idea that Jaal could be a squadmate in one of those videos! Then we could hear his voice loud and clear. I'm also really curious to see how he moves in battle. Angaran legs are so strange! In one of the screenshots someone posted in a thread yesterday, you can see that they're practically in the shape of a Z from the side.

I know it's offtopic but it's a pity that Asari are monogendered. To quote Aaryn Flyyn "12/10 would bang." In all seriousness though, yeah - if they were going to make a race of universally attractive almost-human aliens it's a bit unfair to make them all female. Though I love the concept of an all-female race, they could just as easily made them something far more alien. Imagine if they'd done it but with something like the Turian design? They could have explored that same culture and I could have taken them a lot more seriously because the blatant hetero-male wank fantasy aspect would be absent. Even something like the female Angara design could've worked - they're still pretty in a relate-ably human way, without looking like human women in sexy cosplay. I liked the Asari overall, and enjoyed the characters we met, but that aspect of their design is something I have to force myself to look past. And I agree with you on the drell design. I think it's cool and I liked Thane's character, but never found them attractive. Between the big eyes and big lips and the freaky gill things on their necks I just wasn't into it. But different strokes and all that, and we seem to be in the minority. (And while the dead wife and terminal illness were a nice way to add pathos to his character, it turned me right off his romance.) And intended attractiveness or not, they're definitely farther from human than the asari. The Angara do hit the right note for me though. Jaal is very not human, but I still think he looks attractive.

Okay, real quick on my lunch break. I assumed asari nurse their young. So I see nothing wrong with breasts. If they had, say four breasts instead of two... imo you can push things too far. I'm a fan of "human" aliens. Vulcans, klingons, twi'leks, togruta, etc. That's just me personally. I see "alien" characters as actually human in the literary sense, just representing "the other," except it's sci-fi so we feel more comfortable discussing racism against twi'leks as opposed to an actual human ethnicity. That's the beauty of sci-fi (and sometimes its failing). On English... Well most English teachers are teachers because we care, and we don't go around raising our eyebrows and turning our noses up at second language speakers. We certainly know how difficult it is to learn a non-native language, so if anything I am astonishingly impressed by you guys speaking English when it's not your first language. I never, ever see an ESL speaker and think, "Wow, what a dummy." Yeah, in the business world, if you want to operate in English, you'll need to figure out how articles work. Same thing if I wanted to operate in the German/Japanese/Finnish world. I'd have to learn the language very well if I wanted to succeed. Even native speakers with absolutely abysmal grammar (and I get a lot of them), I don't think they're dumb or anything. More like I realize the education system in their neck of the woods has failed them. Unfortunately a lot of the time by the time they get to me it's too late. Somehow they've managed to pass their previous classes, and when you get me we're not at a "um, you don't really know how to write sentences, do you?" level. You're just going to fail, sorry. About gendered pronouns... They suck. I heartily support the singular they. One of the great things about being online is being able to define your own gender without anyone judging you by your appearance. I love that this forum gives you the option to have no gender. About Jaal... 10/10, would bang, still awesome

I understand Swedish quite well, I just don't speak it. But English has grown into me so much I even have dreams in English. Torilla tavataan! This is my first post here but I just had to sign up when I saw so many Finns here. We're taking over! And I'm actually an English and Swedish teacher so I use both languages pretty much daily. However, my Swedish isn't even nearly as good as my English and sometimes I feel soooo imcompetent when a student asks me what something is in Swedish and I don't have an answer. And I even started studying Swedish earlier than Finns normally do! But English is a completely different matter. Anyway, I've been stalking this thread for some time now (when it had around 40 pages and I thought that was already a lot!!!), and I must say, you people have managed to get me even more excited than I was about Andromeda (and Jaal...)! It's lovely not having to read a bunch of whiny comments about everything that's going to be wrong in Andromeda when we've seen so little of the game itself (I have a bad habit of reading YouTube comments, unfortunately). Those usually kill off any excitement that I have. But you're all so positive and even when you criticize Bioware, you do it respectfully, which I really appreciate. I probably won't be a very active participant here posting-wise but I will definitely try to keep up with everything as long as work allows it (this is my first year working as a teacher and the workload is huuuuuge)! Hopefully we'll get some more info on Jaal in the near future. I want to see more of his lovely face.

For some reason I was never really bothered by Samara's outfit? Idk, I know this is off topic but it has been bugging me for a few days about jaal, If the Angara are the "peaceful" species and the Kett are the "kind of/sort of bad guys", if we got a Kett squadmate, is it possible that Jaal could like 'freak out' kind of like how Tali did when we got Legion? Sorry if that made absolutely no sense, I am new to the forum

I'm Japanese but I was adopted by a Korean family with heavy ties to America, so i live in America and English is my second-ish language. I was also learning Korean at the same time.
That being said, I had a speech teacher and an English teacher (two separate people, not sure if that's common) and they were wonderful , patient people. While I apparently can't loose my 'child like' or high pitch voice that sounds more natural in Japanese I don't have much of an accent (other than certain words). I had an amazing experience with my ESL teachers, is what I'm saying.
Anyway, speaking of accent.... Jaal... wonder how he sounds still ugh.
