Jaal Ama Darav (Official Thread)

*sigh* I just wanted to try and keep things on track because OT chatting is not the best in a thread about a character, especially if other people want to read it and get all this silly stuff and especially with his reveal so close now. We have many guests who come here all the time and I am completely cutting the OT in this thread on my end for their sake. And anyone reading this thread, I apologize if you have to sift through so many pages. We get chatty when we have nothing to talk about, but it really shouldn't be done here.

I would say something related to his race.

But, I gotta be honest what ya... I've made him a drunk twice, executed him once, brought him to the Fade and left him there also. I even broke his itty bitty heart with my dalish rogue, I was just being nice, staph.

I'm still kinda bummed that Drack isn't our Krogan Shaman. That would have been neat.

At this rate everyone likes to charge into battle, so I wouldn't be surprised if he bodyslammed his enemies lol

I was just thinking about DAI and the whole Iron Bull betrayal and it made me wonder about Jaal. Not quite the same situation, but what if we have choices that really mess with the Angaran people? And if we make enough of them, Jaal turns on us at a key moment? That would be pretty heartbreaking.

Though I have a feeling I may end up protective of the Angara as a whole. A lot of people had that ONE race in the original series that they adored/wanted to side with no matter what. I haven't really had that yet. Maybe that'll change this time!

As to Jaal being chatty about his people, I feel like he kind of has to be. Which is both good and not good. It's never fun when characters just end up sounding like lore dumps and not in a particularly creative way. Dorian and Iron Bull fell into that trap very recently. I hope we get to learn a lot about the intricacies of Angaran culture organically. 

Not die, but leave and be suggested to remain hostile to us/humans, maybe? This would suggest big consequences for future games, though, and I'm not sure yet if BioWare wants to tie themselves down to that.

I understand your concern, but isn't that what the 10 page updates are for? I'm really liking this thread because of how friendly every one is and because it's a place to talk about ME and BW in general; of course we're all curious about Jaal, which is why we came here in the first place. Anyone who enters this thread can just say "Have there been any recent updates on Jaal?" and we'd all answer. Additionally, talking about our personal speculations is technically OT because that's not going to help a person curious about the character either, since it's all speculation. 

It just seems a shame that if there have been no recent updates on him (as there hasn't been for days) that we should restrict ourselves to staying silent... I don't know about you guys but I honestly don't go into the other threads partly because they seem a little dead in comparison. 

Nevertheless I don't want to upset you so I'll restrict the OT chat and if I just can't help myself (but I will try ) I'll put it in spoilers. But I will absolutely stop for now

FYI I've encountered this problem before; it happened a few times in the old Cullen thread, especially when we were between games. I mean after awhile you literally to run out of things to talk about. I think everyone having fun is more important than staying strictly OT but there are bounds of reason and you're right in that we probably shouldn't spend several pages yammering on about something totally non-Jaal-related lol

Kind of on that note, I really want Jaal to challenge us if there turns out to be some difficult, nuanced story choices involving our interactions/TMW races' interactions with Andromeda races in general. I always preferred the characters that made you work for it to those who were just insta-bro mode and your yes men/women. And it makes a lot of sense in this context, especially if Jaal is in an important position for his people as many are theorizing.

Ya ME2s AI wasnt the best. I remember Garrus kept switching off his armor piercing rounds and im like GARRUS NO.  *switches it back on*

All my angaran thigh chokehold jokes aside, Jaal seems like he likes to be deadly from afar. If he has some type of crazy ANGARAN RAGE move ill be really surprised.
