If anyone else is reading but hasn't joined, feel free to post! No one is unwelcome here! Agreed. and don't worry about whether we might have discussed something before. We get new posters here all the time, and the thread moves so fast people tend to miss out on some of those discussions. No reason it can't be mulled over again by a different group. (I just like pictures, so I might link back to them for reference if I've posted them somewhere in the thread already. )

Hello! I've been lurking around here for a while now but now I shall finally step out from the shadows!!! I'm crazily hyped after watching this newest video, it was just beautiful. And also, any Jaal I can get from it, I take. Now, I am not sure if someone said it already but I honestly think this beautiful nighttime jungle something (in the combat trailer) is the Angara homeworld. It reminds me a lot of the one from the previous trailer we got. Again, not certain if someone pointed this out, but in case someone haven't, here is a thing I thought about the trailer known all too well - the one where we get to see Angaran for the first time, so official cinematic trailer #2. So there you hear how Veetra says, "Please, you're not really going out there on your own." I'm fairly confident it's right before Ryder goes off to visit the new aliens' homeworld and we see the scene with Angara known from the trailer. It's clear that the Pathfinder is alone, his crew stayed behind so it connects well with what Veetra said. So we can speculate that it was Ryder's choice to go there and that it wasn't anything forced by Angaran, at least that's what I think. Another note, if they just add more soundtrack pieces like the one we hear at the end of both of the trailers I've mentioned - I'll be overjoyed. Just like I'm overjoyed now to join the discussion! Nice to meet j'all! Alright I'll stop now Yep, I would definitely say that's a likely contender for our Angaran home planet. Here's a post I made way back when with a comparison shot of that screenshot off Amazon, and that scene where we meet Jaal and the others: here. If you scroll down the thread page there's a shot from that trailer you mentioned with four figures on a cliff, one of them likely Jaal. I always interpreted Vetra's line as referring to us going out to meet the Archon, but your scenario makes more sense. Hard to say though - keep in mind trailers will cut and paste unrelated scenes for dramatic effect. However I wonder if we have the option to go out there alone or bring others along? I like the scene as is, but it would be interesting to see how it might play out differently if we bring our squad, if that's an option. Oh yes, I've seen the cliff one, I myself am pretty sure it's Jaal. I'm not seeing a Krogan or Turian there at all. At all! And thanks for that post, I haven't seen the Amazon picture actually. I'm really on the 100th-something page so far plus only the couple recent ones so I'm not fully aware of what this thread holds within ^-^ And thanks for the warning, I'll make sure not to speculate too much from trailers only! But some speculation is always nice, isn't it? If I remember correctly somewhere somehow was stated that Jaal won't get along with some other squadmate (Liam?) so that could actually be interesting to bring that squadmate (again:Liam?) along and see how the first meeting between the two unfolds. I wonder if they will give us the option though... Also, one thing I'm hoping for is a Ryder only mission. The same way it was with Dragon Age Inquisitor after the attack on Haven or how it was at the end of Mass Effect 3. I have a thing for those struggle-lonesome-slowmo kind of bonuses *-*

Phoenix2M I apologize if you had to read a lot of stuff not related to Jaal haha I felt sooo bad about that! It's just we are all like-minded here and have bonded over the same things, so it's nice to camp out here and chat as we wait for more info to be released. If anyone else is reading but hasn't joined, feel free to post! No one is unwelcome here! If anyone else is reading but hasn't joined, feel free to post! No one is unwelcome here! People here are so kind-hearted, I'm feeling all fuzzy and fluffy! I love how this thread is not just strict facts and notices, it makes it feel more comfortable and getting to know each other along the way is just as wonderful! I will never want to leave at this rate!

Just keep in mind that the order of events in a trailer don't always coincide with game events, so it's not necessarily proof of anything. As for squadmates not getting along... My theory is that with Drack/Vetra/PeeBee being the more morally grey/selfishly motivated half of the squad, Jaal, Liam, and Cora will be the more upright group. Though that certainly doesn't mean they won't butt heads if their motives or methods differ. Since Vetra is the one skeptical about going out to meet the Angara (if that is in fact how that scene plays out with her line there) I think bringing her along might be fun if you're looking for some interesting conflict. Or Drack, maybe? We find out from what I'll just call 'the Reyes scene' form now on that the Roekaar (who we can safely guess are an Angaran faction from the recent video) have been assaulting Krogan. So that might make for some initial tension if that's what first contact between the two species looked like. Liam seems like a pretty friendly guy who will get along with most people, though I suspect his recklessness and idealism might rub some the wrong way. If Jaal ends up being a bit uptight that could be the case. It's hard to know with no sense of Jaal's personality though!

I hope Jaal has a lot of lines about his opinion of the different Milky Way races he meets!
Though as a warning to those who get bothered by this, there's a big chance that he may be hostile/not so flattering when talking about the other races at first. If my theorizing is right, there may be one race in particular that the Angara, including Jaal, develop a particular hostility for. I have a feeling Angara aren't going to be big fans of the Kett either, if we start getting to a point where we ally with groups of them.
So just in case, be prepared for some "ugh, I don't like Jaal he's so racist" from the fandom. I don't think that, even if he is like that at first, he'll stay that way, though. And I don't think he'll be as bitter about as a Javik or even Solas. But this is all pure speculation!

Doesn't bode well for the AI, considering not a single enemy does anything during that whole scene.

So I had another thought looking at those screens from the new video. Remember how we saw those Angara from the side in what looked like a Remnant vault in that early trailer? From back before we knew they were Angara? Looking at this screen from today's video again: That definitely looks like Remnant architecture (and later in that video we fight Remnant in a similar environment). And we're fighting the Roekaar here. I wonder if those Angara in that early trailer were Roekaar as well. And it's them in that Vault (seen in a cutscene, much like how we saw Beneziah and Saren plotting behind the scenes in ME1). But why are they doing that? And why are they killing Krogan (if Reyes' theory turns out to be true)? A faction of the Angara not too happy with this new presence in the Milky Way, and now they're going after Remnant tech to give them an edge? Maybe they initially set out to fight the Kett, but the other Angara were hoping for peace, so they broke off? But now they're just hostile to anyone they perceive as a possible threat? Or perhaps they've allied themselves with the Kett instead, and are hunting down that tech for their sake... More and more I'm thinking we visit that city where we meet Jaal as a result of investigating of this Roekaar faction...

Phoenix2M welcome to the thread! Hope you enjoy it here, we're all softies I'm really hoping he's curious about the other species rather than racist and his comments are more from wanting to know what they're like rather than insulting/offensive. While I'm trying not be too optimistic about him, my hopes are high that he turns out being a generally good character. With flaws ofc but nothing to put me off

To not hold suspicion toward a bunch of aliens popping in from another galaxy with weapons and the intent to claim territory would be quite foolish, regardless of if those aliens claim they "come in peace". I think it'd be pretty weird if Jaal wasn't guarded at first. He doesn't strike me as the naive optimist type.

I'm also hoping he gets over it if we earn his trust, but that feels like it should take some work. Same here. You don't have to be a naive optimist to avoid being a jerk.

With flaws ofc but nothing to put me off Thank you for the welcoming! I agree with you. I see him as this curious character, at least based on what we know. Then again, there can be a tougher side of him (remember the infamous scar?) which would make him an even more interesting character. I'm oddly optimistic about his character. I can't deny I have some worries regarding others, but for some reason I see Jaal as a success. Maybe because he's so 'alien' to the fanbase.

True, but he might just be on the "jerk" spectrum at first, and it wouldn't exactly not make sense. It's just a character flaw I'm prepared for.

I love inter-party conflict so Jaal butting heads with some of our other squad members would be right up my alley. It also seems that I tend to fixate the most on characters who are disliked by both large parts of the fandom and by characters in-story, so Jaal can be as abrasive as he likes, I'll still love him! On that note, goodnight j'all! Try not to explode the thread while I sleep! Wait, nah, do! I love reading through 20 new pages in the morning!
