Jaal Ama Darav (Official Thread)

Imagine how fun it will be once we have more to talk about! 

Yeah, Javik seems to be all anger because he doesn't see the point in feeling anything but anger anymore. His only goal is to continue his fight for vengeance as long as he can, and that's why he has no concern about pleasing anyone, trying to get attached to the modern races (thus the constant 'primitive' comments and looking down on you) or about forging any camaraderie. I also think he had his doubts about this cycle actually surviving the reapers, which didn't help.

Considering everything he went through and what his culture evolved into in their fight against the reapers, him being like that always made perfect sense to me. He's had mercy all but beaten out of him and Protheans came to think that they couldn't afford the chance of other races turning to their own ends, thus his insistence that it's better to just subjugate and force others to fight. He even mentions that good and evil lost all meaning in the fight for survival. And hey, he comes around in the end and realizes that your way of doing things isn't wrong and respects you!

As for Jaal having any similarity to Javik, the only thing I can imagine them having in common is possibly bluntness and a bit of stand-offishness. Javik is the way he is for a lot of reasons, and Jaal never went through anything even remotely approaching the hell that made Javik Javik. So I wouldn't worry about him being nearly as caustic or rude or dismissive!

I'm sowwy I don't like... um... HATE him? He's just sort of ... there. I felt like he was forced on my Shep to be his default best friend. Kind of like Varric? I never had a Shep who "truly" warmed to him, so it was always jarring when the game seemed to assume we were super bros.

So they don't get married in the traditional sense? You guys want to know my biggest fear...

That Jaal is one of those companions the devs said wouldn't be interested in long term romance. Maybe in his culture it isn't done. Or maybe pair bonding isn't a thing. I just... my heart would break!

I don't mind no 'marriage' or whatever, but I don't want to do a casual thing either. 

Yeah I'd maybe romance Jaal, and just be bros with Liam, next thing you know... oh wait.

I'd definitely be Kallo's BFF. I'd die for that salarian.

I feel like this is the fastest moving thread on the forum right now. Every time I'm back it's jumped another 2-3 pages.

I have no self control either. When it comes to a mass effect game I just can't help that I want to say this to one or two squadmates each playthrough

Oh god if we get lines like those in the game, I'm throwing myself out the airlock. That or Jaal will. 

No self-respecting sentient being needs to stand downwind of that level of cringe
