Keep your enemies close, and all that? It may be he joins us to keep an eye on what we're doing in his galaxy as well. A bit like Iron Bull, where he pretty much admits he's a spy for the Qun and that's partly why he joins the Inquisition. I'm guessing this is the situation as well, and I'm here for it. Though, if the milky way races have been in Andromeda long enough to establish a settlement, the Angarans might be fairly used to them by now. Perhaps it might be less of "I'm watching you because I don't trust you" and more "You've got the attention of the Kett. Here's a guy who'll help you out with them." I mean, it could always be both, and I wouldn't be opposed to there being some antagonism in the beginning, but I'm defs interested. Also, after staring at him for so long I finally saw the scar everyone's been talking about. I was too focused on his face *cough*. Makes me think that he's seen some shit, maybe he's a bit grizzled which is another plus. He reminds me of Zenith from SWTOR (who I adore)!

I won't lie. They, the Angaran, look way cool and I'm pumped to kick alien booty with them, or at least Jaal. I... kinda want them to keep the clothing on though. I don't want to kiss something just because it has a pair of lips and two eyeballs with cool colors. Which is all Jaal is to me at the moment since we know next to nothing about his personality, quirks, attitudes or feelings about particular things. I find it a bit weird that people are swooning over him already?? I can only talk for myself...but in the last trilogy, at least in the male LI departmant, BioWare made a much better work in the alien LIs than in the humans (well, beside creepy Javik in Citadel...but there was equally creepy Vega). I always found Kaidan quite boring, not at the same level of jacob, but not very exiting as a character. Jacob was basically wasted time. Garrus and Thane where much more interesting to me. Thane was a little too much depression for my taste, and the ephitome of Carth syndrome, but had good moments. Garrus was very different to anything we ever had from BioWare as a male romance, and I really liked that. So for me is more a "BioWare have made good male LIs with the aliens: I'm going to keep an eye on this Jaal".

Eh I'm gonna wait until we get a real confirmation on Jaal himself because Bioware might be trying to be sneaky and could be referring to "banging" some other Angaran(s). A lot of us weren't sure Jaal was male so we referred to him as "them" that's why most assume he's an LI after Ian replied with that tweet. Yeah, gathered that much I just feel that Bioware's being sneaky, and chose to interpret it as a more general "they" as opposed to referring to Jaal as "they". Still a definite "Jaal can be romanced" would be nice so I know whether to get my hopes up or not

I didn't think he was a female but the feline face can make any male look feminine. He's sort of a mix of the Beast from the 90's Beauty and the Beast TV series, a Khajiit in TES and a mix of a Twi'lek and Chagrian from Star Wars.

About the "swooning" comments, personally I'm not really swooning over Jaal's appearance. I've wanted an Andromedan alien romance ever since I learned we were going there for the next game just because it would be an incredibly interesting story. You go on a long and perilous journey to a whole new world filled with unpredictable dangers, and you still manage to build that kind of connection with someone who should, by all means, be a galaxy beyond you.
Attraction to cat squids or not, that's pretty cool!
Going beyond Jaal, I think the Angarans will be the main adversaries to the Kett within Andromeda space. Possibly the second "strongest" race in terms of foothold in the galaxy. And I think the entire game will basically only work because the Andromeda races are all pitted against the Kett, and thus desperate enough to ally with the newcomers. Jaal might go with us as an ambassador of sorts, or someone to report back on the workings of the new races while also being one of our guides through Andromeda. If this is the case, I can see the relationship starting out relatively tense because it's one of necessity where he's ready for betrayal/to betray at any moment.
I also think that it's pretty set in stone that our team will go way beyond our "peaceful explorer" mission out of necessity (this is a shooter game, after all). Which I picture causing some rifts between us and the Andromedans and a lot of juggling/compromise to repair and balance. I'd love for us to have a serious crisis moment with Jaal/the Angara at some point in the game. It feels inevitable considering we're the "invaders" of sorts.

Imagine Ryder after romancing Jaal having to be required to write a report on it to superiors. Ryder being an explorer n all lol It's important to build an accurate anatomical understanding. For science.

Assuming the character speaking at the time we first see this new character, is this new character, are we certain it is a male? It could just as easily be a female. The voice could belong to either gender.

I heard a clip of the voice actor they have for him on IMDb, and if it's legit, he's very yummy sounding and masculine!

I swear the devs are smugly smiling and know they struck gold with the character of Jaal. It's sort of owed to us after making Garrus a romance in ME2 only and killing off Thane.

Haha you people give me life I swooned hard bros. What kind of cultural trope do you think the Angarans have? The Turians were very militaristic, the Salarians super smart, Krogans are death machines, humans are Mary Sues. Any thoughts?

Considering what we saw in the concept art and now trailer regarding their cities, I can see them being a race very attuned with nature. We haven't really had an alien race like that in Mass Effect yet.

They wear brightly colored drapy clothes and live in a tropical environment and have funky round architecture. Ooh! What if they've got a tribal thing going on, complete with some sort of weird nature-based religion. They're obviously not pacifists though, since we see them as hostiles and at Sloane's base as well.

I wonder if their lobes are erogenous zones, like the Ferengi. For science of course.
