Sure, as long as there's female options too.

I believe there was a talk of someone being cut because they were "too similar" to a character from trilogy. Yeah, but there's no way of knowing if the "7" leak includes the cut companion or if it came after. Also there's this quote from the official site: "of course, you’ll encounter a number of other companions as you traverse Andromeda in search of humanity’s new home..." It comes right after they talk about Cora, PeeBee, Liam, Vetra, and Drack. Jaal is presumably one, but that's hardly "a number" of them. I wonder if we'll have a 'main squad' of sorts with 6 or 7 companions but there will be other characters who become temporary squadmates for specific missions? Ok, based off of the starting squadmates, I'm interested out of the five, who is a LI for who. I'm only wondering since, because it can be gathered they are recruited all very early on (with Liam, Cora and Peebee implied to be there from the beginning, Vetra and Drack shortly thereafter) they are the ones who are going to have the longest (maybe) romances out of the other options, such as the other squadmates we recruit like Jaal or our mysterious 7th squadmate, and the NPCs. Again sorry for being a beacon of stupid hope, but I would have thought out of the five, everybody gets at least one LI option? We know Cora can be romanced by Scott, for straight men. I'd find it extremely unlikely that Liam isn't for Sara, so he'll be for straight women. For lesbian women, it could be any of the three women really, Cora (though she could be Scott exclusive), Peebee or Vetra. As for gay men the only one there really is Liam, as I find it unlikely Drack is going to be a romance option. Especially for Scott. Since the five are the earliest squadmates we have, and thus will have the longest interactions overall throughout the game, it would be nice to think out of them all, everyone has at least one LI from the bunch, with more NPCs like the crew, and the other squadmates being LI too. Hopefully Jaal for both Scott and Sara, cause dayum, he fine.

When your thread about about a species gets merged with a thread about romancing a specific member of that species: Well seeing as we're talking romances, wasn't it stated in an interview somewhere that there were going to be romances outside of the squad, like how we had cullen and Josephine but more of them and some of them smaller like Kelly? I can't remember where I read that. If so we don't just have to make our romance set fit our squad set, other Angarans and Ai peeps are in the line of potential fire.

I'd argue squadmate romances are better though, and more fulfilling since they inevitably always have more content pertaining to their romance arcs, plus being able to go with them out on the field and do missions together makes it more exciting than only ever being able to interact with a crew member on the Tempest, or an NPC on a hub world.
As long as everyone gets at least one squadmate LI, and one NPC LI, it should be fine. Of course opinions will vary based on who is available to who, and the quality of the romance and writing itself.

For Scott I am really really really hoping to be able to romance both Liam and Jaal. From the looks of things, Liam seems to start off with and develops an even greater friendship with Scott, and I'd love to be able to turn that into an awesome romance over time throughout the game. As for Jaal, while I enjoyed the everloving fuck out of Garrus and getting to know him and romance him in the trilogy - I would have killed to be able to do that with a male Shep, and have a gay male alien romance </3 So yeah - very much crossing my fingers here for Jaal and Scott to be able to get to know each other intimately For Sara - if Cora isn't straight, then perhaps. But I really want to romance Vetra with Sara. The height difference makes everything super adorbs and awesome PeeBee we'll see... I'm waiting to see if her Lone Wolf status might also carry through into romance territory, with her being either aromantic - asexual - or both, would be really interesting and maybe put a cat amongst the pigeons of those wanting to get their PeeBee on. Drack would be super interesting, as a Krogan romance for starters - if Bioware would go there, I'm game. But also as a romance with an older character, not just in comparison to how young Ryder is - but also exactly how old Drack potentially is. Then there's whoever this other teammate/teammates might be and whoever else might be on the Nexus, an outpost, some random planet like they've been hinting at... or maybe even Kallo *realises he's been rambling* .... I'm just really looking forward to this game okay?

I like his design! Angara seem a mix of a Khajiit and a Twi'lek. Even if for Jaal... -Blue eyes -Monocle -Scars -Feline appearance Garrus? Is that you? In another body? I am in no way displeased by this I just hope he isn't just a soldiar. I have nothing against military backgrounds, but if really Liam is the other male LI, I hope for some variety. I would like if Jaal is some kind of diplomat. Surely being a native of this galaxy, it can open some very interesting rivalry path/confrontations. But I believe he is some kind of bodyguard/soldiar. I still would love my Quarian male romance...

I won't lie. They, the Angaran, look way cool and I'm pumped to kick alien booty with them, or at least Jaal. I... kinda want them to keep the clothing on though. I don't want to kiss something just because it has a pair of lips and two eyeballs with cool colors. Which is all Jaal is to me at the moment since we know next to nothing about his personality, quirks, attitudes or feelings about particular things. I find it a bit weird that people are swooning over him already??

Hopefully Jaal for both Scott and Sara, cause dayum, he fine. As a fellow beacon of stupid hope I agree. I said this elsewhere in the forum, but I'm hoping with their rather poor comparative track record of male LIs (for both genders, though you guys certainly got it worse) and the ME team (hopefully) being aware of the criticism, they went ahead and made Jaal and Liam bi. With gay or straight male options elsewhere on our crew or on the Nexus. Especially since it's looking like Cora, PeeBee, and Vetra might all be romanceable, and I doubt Drack is since he's supposed to be super old even by Krogan standards (which I love by the way - badass space Grandpa to a bunch of crazy alien kids? Hell yeah!). That would give players of both genders a choice between one human and one alien squadmate male LI, and about time, I say, since ME has had that option and more for the straight guys in every game in the trilogy... (Not saying I wouldn't want them to continue having those options, but, it's time we saw some balance, no?) Of course there might be 7th squad member, but they might not show up until later in the game if he (or she!) is being kept under wraps. Anyway, getting away from the romance topic for a bit... I wonder about the Angaran culture and how they will end up interacting with ours. They look technologically advanced - I quite like their funky curved architecture. Also, it looks like they're on one of the jungle planets? The plants in their city (I do hope it's a real city!) look the same as the ones in this image: And it looks they're going to have a complicated relationship with us Milky Way aliens. We see some at Sloane Kelley's outpost and among Milky Way enemies. And one joins our squad at some point - though we do meet him at gunpoint at first (an understandable precaution, considering). Perhaps they start joining us because the Kett are a common enemy? We also know there's some Angaran faction called the Rokar from that scanning scene in Sara's gameplay trailer, and that they're going around murdering Krogan in a rather gruesome manner. Which might suggest some are a little more hostile to our presence than others - unless the Krogan struck first. Might lead to an interesting relationship between Drack and Jaal if that's how first contact between their species happened...

I just think, you have to be daring to go that far so soon. It's like a glory hole. You have no idea what's going to happen. the brave star captains in every space soap opera out there never seem to worry about the time that elapsed between the first contact and the love affair, more often than not they coincide, tbh. It,p's a genre tropes anything.

I look at him and think Zenith, and well, that's one romance I wanted to get for a few years. Most romanced characters are not unpleasant in Bio games, unless there are tons of options like in SWTOR. Here, we seem to only have two males, so Bio unlikely to make him an annoying, disgusting, pittiful, etc, While I know that gay guys did not get any alien romances save for Cytherat, female PCs also did not get many non-humans either. There was only Zevran, Aric, Thane and Garrus in the games I've played... and, well, I don't like romancing humans, so.. Jaal is pretty much the only one we've seen as an actual option.

Which is all Jaal is to me at the moment since we know next to nothing about his personality, quirks, attitudes or feelings about particular things. I find it a bit weird that people are swooning over him already?? You know, I thought the same about the Vetra fans and the people who wanted to romance Cora when she was literally just a named human, but... I actually kinda get it now. Yes, there's a chance I might not like him - that his voice will grate on me and I'll hate his personality. But, so far, the potential for what he could be as a character and romance has me excited. I find his design really appealing - strange and alien but still beautiful (those eyes...). And I was hoping for a pretty male alien - like what male players got with the asari and Tali. I wanted a male quarian - they're alien and exotic and their suits are pretty - but that's looking very unlikely. But now we have Jaal, and he's been semi-confirmed, and not worrying about killing him with my gross human germs is a plus. I know a lot of female players felt that about Thane but he was too amphibious for me - apparently crustaceans are more my thing - and those red gills freaked me out. And Thane's personality wasn't quite interesting enough for me to look past his looks like I could with Garrus (who I found aesthetically interesting, but not physically attractive either). I also like the idea of a romance with a completely new species, whose culture I'm learning about for the first time - 'first contact' love stories are a pretty fun trope. Also, there's been female LIs like Morrigan, Miranda, and Jack and to a lesser extent Cassandra who have started off as suspicious, mistrustful, or even hostile toward our character. But it transforms into respect and then eventually (if you play a male protagonist anyway) a romance. We've never had a male LI like this and I've been wanting one, a lot. Jaal may not be, but the less-than-friendly circumstances under which we apparently meet makes it a possibility.

I swoon for any character (ketts, turians, humans, quarians, drells, Cora, Liam, Vetra, Peebee... Drack is too much like an old Grandpa. That saves him). In my case it's nothing to do with "Garrus" or a "Garrus type". I don't expect to have a "Garrus" because in that case, writing department would have failed in order to make a good new character. Jaal looks awesome and attractive. Get over it. If then when I play I find his character boring or hateful, if his personality or voice acting doesn't appeal to me, I won't romance him because of his looks. The same with the rest of the human character. It's a videogame and I roleplay as I was reading I book I would like to write. The most awesome, interesting, attractive character gets to be the LI of my protagonist, regardless of their gender, age or homegalaxy

Hmm... he has done some voice work for a game before... I checked out his Twitter and nodded along with his political views for a bit (fair warning: that's almost all of his tweets ) but didn't seen any ME related stuff. Or any game related stuff, so he might just not want to reveal himself if that's not what he typically puts out there... If I had Twitter I'd try asking, but... I do not. Perhaps someone else here could? So why exactly does this Jaal join a group of what could be invaders from another galaxy? Dunno... why do other Angaran show up at Sloane Kelley's outpost, or among human and turian enemy groups? My guess is that the Kett are a common enemy, perhaps a bit like the Protheans were to every species who didn't submit to their 'protection' in their era.

Theyre still going to come to live near or into your territory. so unless most angarans are xenophilic all loving space hippies, i see co-existance problematic. Who knows, the only thing i know about angarasn atm is that they seem to love outlandish colors on their clothes.

A bit like Iron Bull, where he pretty much admits he's a spy for the Qun and that's partly why he joins the Inquisition.

Found this on Tumblr Eh I'm gonna wait until we get a real confirmation on Jaal himself because Bioware might be trying to be sneaky and could be referring to "banging" some other Angaran(s). A lot of us weren't sure Jaal was male so we referred to him as "them" that's why most assume he's an LI after Ian replied with that tweet.

That could be it, tough if i was Jaal i wouldnt trust the extra galactic newcomer any more, theres always a catch. Theyre still going to come to live near or into your territory. Keep your enemies close, and all that? It may be he joins us to keep an eye on what we're doing in his galaxy as well. A bit like Iron Bull, where he pretty much admits he's a spy for the Qun and that's partly why he joins the Inquisition. I'm guessing this is the situation as well, and I'm here for it. Though, if the milky way races have been in Andromeda long enough to establish a settlement, the Angarans might be fairly used to them by now. Perhaps it might be less of "I'm watching you because I don't trust you" and more "You've got the attention of the Kett. Here's a guy who'll help you out with them." I mean, it could always be both, and I wouldn't be opposed to there being some antagonism in the beginning, but I'm defs interested. Also, after staring at him for so long I finally saw the scar everyone's been talking about. I was too focused on his face *cough*. Makes me think that he's seen some shit, maybe he's a bit grizzled which is another plus.
