I agree. They need to do better, and make up for all the mistakes that were made. They had a really good thing going before, and they can win us back-but minimal effort will no longer fly. DA teams seem to be better at this. But yeah DA2 is the only game in DA that has equal options. At least until the Sebastian DLC hit.

If anything Sebastian was a curse on the game, not an option to be jealous about.

Sebastian really improved the banter in my game, before him I used to bring Merrill, Anders and Fenris and that's just disaster trio. Besides he's one of my fav DA characters so I'm happy with the DLC even if his romance and role wasn't quite comparable to other companions :/ In terms of ME:A.. although I was onboard of Jaal being returned to bi LI like he once was planned, it's kinda bit too late for me. If they had just said some info what they were going to do I guess my interest could have stayed up, but.. I just moved to other interests from ME:A I'll get the game eventually, but even with bi Jaal.. I don't feel any rush at the moment.

You know, it's a little strange. Metaphorically speaking, I was born in the Jaal thread. My BSN adolescence was spent thinking, "Game will come out, I'll romance Jaal, it will be amazing." Then the game came out and Jaal was spoiled for me by Bioware's shit (let's be honest, you can love BW but they were REALLY shitty this time around and the Straight!Jaal decision was just INEXPLICABLE) and the general furore surrounding the discussion of characters' sexualities. I never realised there was so much resentment that some characters were made non-straight. I mean, if a character is available to me, I don't care how many other people have access to him/her. It's actually nice if many people can experience the romance because it makes it easier to discuss and compare notes. I don't care that IB was bi. I actually couldn't even care less if Dorian was made Bi, although since Dorian is the ONLY gay LI, I can understand gay people's reluctance to have him made bi. I do not understand Straight people's reluctance, but I don't want to start this shitshow of an argument again. Now, even though the initial problem has been solved, and I'm really happy for everyone enjoying the romance, I can't even bring myself to start another Playthrough. Jaal isn't doing it for me anymore, and Andromeda is not a strong enough game for me to be excited about playing it multiple times. For me, Jaal is almost a symbol of shattered expectations and Bioware's myopic nonsense. So I really don't want him in DA4. Hahaha. Some of us straight females also had the experience ruined because our friends here went through crap because of their decision to make him a non-romance for males. Once it was solved, I was ready to enjoy the romance since all I did was speedruns for others and I just can't bring myself to try. I am burned out, emotionally drained and that's not how someone should feel when playing a game they love. Well, I hope you can enjoy it now that the issue has been resolved.

Looking forward to it! Question. Did anyone who romanced Jaal as Scott get this email? Sara still gets it, but it seems no one playing a Scott did. We're trying to figure out of it's a bug or if it was never added.

What I'd like to see for once, is a male character having plot armour. For now, at least in the BioWare games I've played, only female characters got plot armour: Isabela, Leliana and Morrigan, all can be (sort of) killed in game (Isabela given to the Arishok) and all came back with no big problem. But male characters for the most part stay dead: Anders, Alsitair, Zevran... none of them have some excuse to came back to life. Dorian and Solas have plot armor. ...ish.

You dismiss Dorian rather than having an option to run him through as a suspicious Tevinter Mage and you can't do anything but succumb to Solas. They both are pretty much guaranteed to turn up in DA4, so it was evident that they were protected in Inquisition for future use.

No. Plot armour is about choices not respected to take back a character. We never get any choice in game to kill neither Solas or Sera, or Dorian, we don'stab them or kill them in any case, the choice is not there. If we stabbed Solas before he goes into the Elluvian like Morrigan, and is safe and well after, is plot armour. For now, in all the choices to kill characters, only males stay dead.

I think they just took out the options to kill out to make plot Armor less obvious. And you can't really ever do anything to Morrigan in the game. Just in some DLC.

The point is actually this: humabs are supposed to be the race with no instict, the wild card. The others races, should have their "alieness". Yeah, I know that's the idea, I just think it's ridiculous, so I'm happy when the writers ignore it. Let's be honest and admit that the ME series has never really been about humanity and truly alien beings coming to together. The fact that so many of the aliens clearly take inspiration from very specific human cultures (or historical cultures) definitely makes that clear - and that's what bothers me about the in-game references to humans being somehow extra-special on a genetic level.

Our character actually know he have a reason to want to kill Solas in DLC too, soo... I want to think the writers will stop killing plot important characters before they have completed their use for the plot. Seem like the road is that.

If anything Sebastian was a curse on the game, not an option to be jealous about. I really like Sebastian, and regret that he was cut out of the game into a DLC. He is the real opposition to Anders, way more so than easily amenable Fenris & have more main quests comments than Fenris, not to mention a lot of interest in Anders and a full blown conflict with him. Honestly, with Sebastian, DA2 beats KOTOR2 in terms of appealing male characters, all of them different. It's kind of like BG2 made for a female avatar I so wish I had that DLC from the get go.

It's a shame his romance didn't get as good a treatment as the rest of his character. Have the squad reactions is how the kind of relationship he and Hawke have isn't a real relationship and other mean jokes like that. It'd be like if half the team made homophobic comments about a same-sex relationship.

He's story relevant and that felt worth the money for me. That's the only positive thing I have to say about him. Aside from that I hate him with a flaming passion I never had for any of the antagonists. And I enjoyed how most of the companions hated him. "Oh, go find some beggars to sing to, will you?"

Preachy characters always turn me off, even if I agree with their principles. They don't realize that it does more harm than good by whining about it. Even if I didn't care for Ander. The fact that he gave me an ultimatum and threatened me is why I spared Anders and crushed his pathetic temper tantrum in Inquisition.

DA teams seem to be better at this. But yeah DA2 is the only game in DA that has equal options. At least until the Sebastian DLC hit. He ruined the perfectly balanced romance in DA2. It seems to be the trend that straight female player got more romance in recent DA games. I hope the next DA game aims for better balance.
