Nobody here doubts for a second that straight people are genuinely invested in always getting things their way.

We need more games with non-standard game overs.

Most of my actual opinions are boring middle ground where I go "Well, everyone has a point and one must accept that reality (or fake reality) is complicated and blah blah blah."

So I'm terrible at internet debate and I usually show up in threads to look at shiny things, laugh at jokes, and ninja-like things. Sometimes I add anecdotes or my boring moderate opinions! My actual opinion is that every writer is limited by only being in the head of one person (themselves), and that all of us have unique personalities, bodies, and so on and so forth. So I can't ever know what it's like to be my sister. A good writer can create a reasonable facsimile, though. Research helps. So does broad analogous experiences. The more you know about the subject and the closer you can relate to it, the more likely it is that a writer will pull it off. I imagine in a big group of writers working together, a group with a broad base of perspectives will do better.

Of course, you still shouldn't hire a godawful writer just because they have a perspective you want. But if you are writing a game about, say, fishing, maybe you should try to find some people who've gone fishing before. ...There's a Patrick MacManus joke in here somewhere that's trying to escape, but it's been a long day so I'm going to ignore it.
