When it comes to companion pairings...

I like the OT3 of Isabela/Merrill/Hawke as my favorite relationship in DA2. Idk... I actually like Isabela/Merill better with each other then Hawke. It just kills me when she calls her kitten.

When it comes to Andromeda the only teammates I can see them turning into full blown relationships in the future would be Jaal/Peebee or Vetra/Suvi. They were the only ones who seemed interested. I would have loved some Kallo/Gil hate/love things going on but that ship has sailed. 

They also said gay guys would be happy with what they got in the game. At some point you have to start treating everything BW says as lies till proven otherwise.

If they do implement an NPC/NPC pairing, I too find it more likely that Peebee/Jaal will have more content, if only out of extending whatever canon that's already there. For a same gender one, I actually think it's more likely for them to have two non-squadmates get together, rather than squadmate/squadmate or squadmate/crewmember. For example, giving Gil or Suvi a mostly offscreen bf or gf that is on the Nexus. Or having Avitus try to get back into the dating game.

I like Gil and Reyes, but them getting together doesn't make much sense to me. Suvi/Vetra is more likely, but their writer is not around there, so I have no clue whether they would push for that to be implemented when their writer was the one writing anything remotely teasing that pairing.

Asking an LGBT person can definitely be a good way to research. Obviously, not the only source you'd use, but talking about it with an actual flesh and blood LGBT person can do wonders for portraying LGBT people.

they get along pretty well, actually! there was a shaky start but they chatted about having sisters and junk, and had some other cool banter, it was cute. i think at some point peebee's on the nexus and vetra calls her asking to hang out, and peebee has to take a rein check. you got the sense that they talked!

all that said i find vetra/suvi and vetra/peebee equally cute. all girls deserve a tol turian gf. i'm not selfish. :gentleman:

I don't think Gil and Reyes make any sense. I mean, they never really even meet or acknowledge the other exists. Even if you're in a committed relationship with both of them, they don't acknowledge each other. lol And Reyes wouldn't want a baby, that's just too weird. Gil's romance is like a middle schooler asking you to the spring formal and Reyes is a bad boy trope with a moderate exhibitionist kink. I can't see it. 

Honestly, I think they probably just won't make couples, because it's something they'd have to balance going forward. If they put people together, it'll probably be when they're ready to wrap it up, like Garrus and Tali. 

Hopefully, you'd have enough LGBT people in your life to speak to. Or a local LGBT community to approach. If neither are the case, people still do the whole pen-pal thing. There's also archives where LGBT people discuss their own experiences in the LGBT community. This is one example of many. You could read their stories, reach out to them and ask them their thoughts on LGBT media.
