If that would be the case (I hope it's not), then Andromeda will be broken forever to all people who would want to only romance males as male and wants to have 100% achievements.. I'm still not sure how this achievement works. Is it the same PC you play romancing 3 different people or just 3 different romances with 3 different PC's? You have to complete three of the LI's romance paths. This can be in as many or as few playthroughs as possible. For example if you romance three people you can get it in a single playthrough while if you romance only one person per playthrough you can get it in three playthroughs.

I've romanced both Jaal and Reyes and was planning Vetra next, so that's how I'll get it I'd assume. Also... if that achievement was made after the game's romances were written, they had to have thought out a 3rd gay romance option. Otherwise it makes no sense. Something's not adding up in my opinion.

Something's not adding up in my opinion. I think it just didn't occur to them that people would want to do specifically 3 m/m relationships versus just doing m/f, f/f or non-preferential playthroughs. DAO had those separate romance achievements that meant you had to play both genders to get them all, so it's not unprecendented to encourage the player to split them up that way. I suspect they didn't do the math to realize that all the other player-gender/romance-gender pairing preferences could get the achievement without re-rolling.

Something's not adding up in my opinion. I think it just didn't occur to them that people would want to do specifically 3 m/m relationships versus just doing m/f or f/f runs (or hooking up with a side character like Keri for the achievement). DAO had those separate romance achievements that meant you had to play both genders to get them all, so it's not unprecendented to encourage the player to split them up that way. I suspect they didn't do the math to realize that all the other player-gender/romance-gender pairing preferences could get the achievement without re-rolling. I doubt many gay players would want to romance a woman just to get the achievement. If Reyes had ended up gay and not bi, I wouldn't be able to get that achievement either if I wasn't comfortable with romancing females. There's no flirts outside the squad (like Avela and Keri) that are male. I also can't stand romancing Liam, so I am romancing Vetra to complete it. I remember when BW implied we'd have tons of romance opportunities outside our squad. That would have been great if it was true. A nice gay male Angara or Turian and a few male flings for the ladies would have been more fun in my opinion.

Hey Steelcan, notice how you ignored the people who actually answered you earnestly ( gaycaravaggio and JadePrince) because you'd rather take potshots at this thread? That's why no one wants to engage with you. You're not posting in good faith and it's obvious.

I'm not gay or bi, but I also explained to him what I witnessed regarding the baiting of the community in March, and was ignored completely.

I doubt many gay players would want to romance a woman just to get the achievement. ha Eh, anyone who got 100% of the achievements on DAO had to play outside their preferences unless they used mods (or are both genderfluid and bi, I suppose). Plenty of people don't play self-inserts, and happily play characters outside of their gender and orientation. I think it's absurd to assume that the majority of any one demographic is unable to avoid playing minor subplots differently - if you're an achievement hound, you do all kinds of things that probably aren't your desired playstyle to get achievements. On paper, this is no different. That said, from a buzz standpoint, I do think they should have done the math and realized that it was something people would notice and that would generate some negative feedback. I think the broader point about not having an equitable distribution of options is a fair one, but having options that are within your player/romance combination gender preference but that you don't personally like (like Liam for you) is not really the same thing. Personally, I thought all the squadmate and crew romances were weak (I liked Keri and Reyes, but the people on the ship all annoyed me), but that's not the same issue as the distribution of gender-locked romances. It's not really an issue at all, it's just a matter of taste.

They did the math, but they failed the quiz. Maybe, but based on the Tweet from one of the devs to in response to the "was it intentional that m/m players can't get the matchmaker achievement?" was "No. Log a trouble ticket", it sounds like to at least some of them the possibility didn't even occur to them that it would be a desired feature.

I'm pretty sure it didn't. Sadly that's not surprising. Gil in their opinion was the one that would make all gay players happy. Reyes you can tell was meant for Sara first thanks to the dance scene, so placing all their bets on Gil was likely their downfall.

At best it's just a lack of communication between departments. The price we pay for them not having a proper studio develop the game.

Yeah, I think that's to blame for a lot of the problems with the game in general. There are so many hints of a better game in there, but it's as if the ideas didn't make it to enough parts of the team to be implemented properly or followed through.

We also had other things that got scrapped like choosing what each outpost would represent and not being able to gain everyone's loyalty. I had everyone's loyalty by the end of the game no matter what choice I made and a dev said it's not possible, but there's a slim chance you can. It wasn't that hard. Speaking of hard, Jaal was supposed to be hard to get along with. Trust was not easy and he took the longest to open up (and romancing him was not easy), and in-game he's already friends with everyone by the first mission you do with him, and interested in you by the time you are at Kadara.

Solas and Cullen originally had some LGBT content that was cut. Apparently, Cullen was bisexual long enough that my friend was assured that Cullen was bi for a very long time before it turned out that no, he's straight. Solas, Cullen, Thane and now Jaal. There has been an unfortunate pattern of cutting the gay side of intended bi male romances for years. and ashley, tali and jack too :/ I mean yeah, we get more because straight gamers can wank one while thinking about how "hot lesbians" or "hot bisexual chicks" (sry, just had a bit of puke in my mouth) re totally fine and we are cool.. like.. its sad that you get so little that you take even some malegazey fetishistic shit that says "we include you because we know our true intended audience can imagine you fucking each other for their enjoyment and you don't threaten their cis-het-masculine identity " with graces because its still better than half forgotten stuff that began in good intentions but then got cut and written to death because, well we cant have anything vaguely threatening or uncomfortable for the assumed default player, the cis-hetero-homophobic brogamer....

Remember some of the "bi content" is just because as an industry studios have VAs read off as many lines as they can fit in those sessions even though they won't be used. For example Suvi has "bi content" but her writer explicitly stated that from the get go she was going to be a lesbian and at no point was going to be bi. And the older games had the protagonist VAs read all the lines, even the ones exclusive to one hence things like Mark Meer doing the lines from the Harkin encounter if Femshep.

Oh yeah the mods for Jaal and Cora have tons of silence. They never finished them at all. Just if they decided to go that way, they would have some lines ready to go. Just looking at Cora's sex scene and that guy from Naughty Dog creating it, you know they would not consider making it balanced for Sara too either. If they did, they would have to cut certain parts that make zero sense. Less sense than Sara riding PeeBee.

The longer it's taken them to finish the patch, the more chances it was due to adding scenes and getting the actors to record the lines. If they are secretly working on the DLC (hinted by Cora's voice actress), having them do those lines would not waste any time or that much more money.
