Everytime I see tweets of the devs talking about LGBTQ content I swear I want to throw a kamehameha into their faces was the DA team like that with DAI (pre-launch)?? I hope we can get a lesbian kiss in the next trailer even though this fall into the hot lesbians trope just to piss some homophobes and to cheer lesbian players in the process. Who am I kidding though, it will be a Liam x Sara kiss. Agreed. I would be shocked if he turns out to be straight or gay only. I can see it now. Jaal is MEA's Dorian. Oh man the females would rage! You can take Dorian anytime, giiiive me mah Cullen

Has anyone actually called anyone a name so far? All I've seen is someone saying that arguing for gay people to not be let into the Andromeda Initiative is bigoted and homophobic. In my opinion, name-calling is more calling someone a jerk or the b-word or something along those lines. Honestly, I would be fine for a lot of straight characters. My issue is how, a lot of the time, gay characters tend to be way less important in Bioware games and they tend to be written in such a way that you can easily avoid gay characters. There's that with bi characters too, to a lesser extent (exceptions: the DA2 cast having at least four canonically bi characters that are important and have a lot of content and Liara being very important in the Mass Effect trilogy). If you read back a page, I'd argue some people went too far in their response. Was it a silly comment? Maybe. I think so, considering SCIENCE. *thunderclap* But it was a single thought expressed by one person over their views of homosexuality in a contaxt of exploration and needed breeding. Calling them a bigot, outright, or making further comments about the 'ridiculousness' of straight people/men is beyond unneeded. Dissent in opinion, unite on our love for each other as woefully negected Mass Effect fans, on a whole. However, I will say, in terms of my personal views on characters, avatars had it rough in ME trilogy and vanilla SWTOR, with better quality and attention paid to straight or lesbian romances (Traynor is my straight maleshep's best bro, along with Garrus, and Liara and Leliana are huge favorites for me). I personally want Jaal to be bi or gay. Throw our gay friends a hot, alien bone- .... I didn't mean that at first, but I stand by that pun. Hilarious. You're either the same person, an apologist or someone who is better at masking their thoughts than our "think of the babies and throw the gays away" friend. Contrary to uneducated popular belief, not all issues have "2 sides" (more specifically they don't all have 2 VALID sides - not to mention the silliness of everything everywhere being bidimensional). When you have something that is proven scientifically beyond doubt, if individual X comes and starts expressing their ilogical, false, nonsensical or simply magical "arguments", most of them reused for the thousandth time (like the "it's not natural", "realism", "think of the children" mantras, not to mention many others), then telling them they are full of it* does NOT equate you to them in terms of hatefulness or ignorance or aggression. So no, no one "went too far". I'll speak only for myself now and say I was perfectly within adequate communication etiquette when calling him out on being bigoted. And I have no patience for the haters who try to paint themselves as victims. If you come and giggle-say how gays should not be brought on a colony because "realism"/"natural argument"/"think of the children"/"ickiness"/etc, I won't hesitate to call you out on your bs. If after that you're demoralized no one else joined you on the ignorant hateful "side" and try to play it as the poor victim, you just show more about yourself. And it's not good.

I would not be so disappointed if they treat all LIs the same and be silent about everything concerned them. I really do not get why reveal some and make people spin wild tales about others. Meh, we will know during the early access so it is pleating of time to rage, if it turns to be the worse.

I wish they would at least give us some indication of how many options there are for each orientation, rather than just saying "oh yeah there are gay options." Especially since gay men have been particularly shafted by the trilogy.
Tell us, like, straight men get this much, straight women get that much, gay men get this much, gay women get that much, etc. And assure us our gay options aren't going to be inconsequential and that they have their own writers who are eager to write gay stuff. Give us something! Anything.

Not one Mass Effect game has had a f/f human squadmate romance. I am tired of it, I am hoping Sara can romance Cora. But most likely not, just a guess but this seems to be the default way Jane/Sara = Kaiden/Liam Scott/John = Cora/Ashley. And if the next trailer has romance in it, my guess is Sara and Liam. Unless they make Liam bi, as they did with Kaiden later on. Sorry Kaiden you must be straight until ME 3, Except in my playthroughs I could never choose him over Ash. Haven't has a f/f human romance since Isabella from Dragon Age 2. Couldn't romance Ashley,Miranda,Jack, Cassandra unless playing male. This bother anyone else? What romance you want most? For me it's Sara=Cora

Also, fyi, prefacing a ridiculous sentence with "as a gay person" doesn't mean you're magically exempt from being a homophobic... thing And finally, if "big words" (what is that lol) make you feel unconfortable and you feel the person using them is "a condescending jerk", that's all on you. Deal with your issues in therapy ok?

Traynor doesn't have that much content if you didn't have the Citadel DLC, and she was only in one game anyways. Kelly.... Sorry to those who like her but Kelly bored me to tears and had the most awkward cutscene in ME2, not to mention very very little content. Hopefully, lesbian players will have more than that this time around, and, hopefully, gay male players will get the male aliens and human men of their dreams.

Dragon Age has also always been far more sexual than Mass Effect. Though both are BioWare, they're different in that regard. There are no whore houses in Mass Effect(strippers yes but not whores), there has never been a "slut" companion in any Mass Effect game(well perhaps maybe Morinth) but there has been one in each Dragon Age game(Zevran, Isabela, Bull) So it makes sense that the Dragon Age team would be more open to talking about this stuff. The Mass Effect team just seems to be joking about banging this and banging that. Also if I'm not mistaken, a lot of the romances for Inquisition was announced at gaymer or whatever it is they called that convention, I know that's where Bull was announced as pan. Romances, especially non straight ones would obviously be announced at something like that because it works. Also by that time, they actually released gameplay stuff, something BioWare hasn't really done yet for Andromeda. But yeah, point being, two completely different teams, one more open to discussion sexuality, one not so much. DA went far enough to retcon aspects of the Qunari just to fit in Krem.

Femshep can't romance 1 single human female squadmate throughout the whole trilogy And I agree, their should be more m/m romances too

So no, no one "went too far". I'll speak only for myself now and say I was perfectly within adequate communication etiquette when calling him out on being bigoted. If after that you're demoralized no one else joined you on the ignorant hateful "side" and try to play it as the poor victim, you just show more about yourself. And it's not good. I'm so glad you responded! It gives me a chance to point out that, yes, your rather ridiculous "jump the gun and anyone with a slightly differing opinion than me is a bigot!" rhetoric was a spurring to my posting! ♡ In short? You don't know me. You don't know that person. You don't know our histories. You don't know that I have two best friends, one a Trump supporter who kept me from committing suicide after a horrid breakup, though I lived hours away, or a post-op transsexual woman who I met playing video games online and knew in person the first time when they were getting married, as I traveled across coubtry to be there, and to support her union to a straight man officated by a fun but otherwise orthodox priest who agreed that love is love. You don't know that I have Aspergers, or that I led a walk-out in high school to support the soldiers of the Iraq War because our school faculty had mandatory 'student protest marches' or that I was stabbed in 6th grade, in the back in the bathroom, because kids bullied me thinking I was gay, you don't know that Valentine's Day is terrible for me because it's the 12 year anniversary today that I found out my son wasn't mine. You. Do not. Know me. You don't know anyone here, save our comments, on one message board made in one moment of one day of one week of one month of one year. But rather than talk, rather than discuss, to use rhetorical analysis or deep conversation, you pull out a soap box, stand up and point and yell, 'burn the witch!' So do the right thing. Talk, calmly. Logically tell me you disagree, point out my lothos is off, that the logical fallacy of my character has zero weight to my point, rather than paint a picture that all who disagree fall into these tiny, self-fulfilling stereotypes, outlawing any thought that doesn't line up with your own. Which, I will added, is much more bigoted than stating 'if we got to another galaxy, we should focus on breeding.' In the very least. Or relaize that you talk about how silly it is and that 'not all topics have two sides' yet still say, without clause, that anyone who disagrees is playing the victim, or a bigot. But hey. What do I know. I'm just the guy who agreed to your side, that the comment was wrong if for many reasons, I just wanted discussion to be civil, courteous, and open. Now please, feel free to stare at the search engine results of the other 'oh snap' gifs you didn't choose, or, best yet, respond either with civility, or in PM so we don't derail this thread, further. 😘

For me it's Sara=Cora I did wanted to romance Ashley and Miranda, Cora not that much but yes it bothers me that every goddammit ME game it just a awful with representation. Also the whole Miranda is the perfect woman and she is straight really got on my nerves playing ME2 and all the fanservice with her character. If FemShep cannot romance her, wtf is all the fanservice for??? I have to say I will not put my hopes up for Cora but there is a possibility that she is bi along side Peebee and Vetra is the straight romance. I would not mind really, if it wasnt for no lesbian companions. I can see myself get really piss off next month.

I would say gay men and women both had not many options. Kaiden and Cortez in ME 3 and Traynor/Liara, and Kelly but more like a fling. Don't think I am forgetting any? It is frustrating though isn't it. I agree. While we did get Samara, her romance only really culminated in the Citadel DLC. Kelly was the only LI that had the kind of romance I wanted.

All I personally want is Cora to be bi, I am tired of all female human squadmates being straight. Femshep can't romance 1 single human female squadmate throughout the whole trilogy And I agree, their should be more m/m romances too I was always a plan of the pkayer-sexual status of games like Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Dragon Age 2, forbthis exaxt reason. It was true equality in experience (barring some hostile attempts), and meant that all players from all walks could truly enjoy and experience. Was it realistic? Nah. But it was fun, and good. And I don't play video games for realism. Real lofe sucks.

It kinda feels like BW is trying to kind of keep the romance stuff under wraps because they don't want romances to be the main focus and what people will talk about. But while doing that, they are making romances this big huge secret, BIIIG thing that's SUUUPER SECRET when they could just be really nonchalant about it, either revealing who can romance who as characters are introduced or just keeping shit COMPLETELY under wraps and not using ANY romances to advertise the game.
But they are definitely hyping up the romances even if they are trying to make us focus on the character, story and gameplay rather than anything else. It's weird.

Personally, I would love it if we had a cooler, older, no-nonsense female squadmate for women to romance. A lot of f/f romance options seem to be "little sister types." Like Merrill, Sera, Liara, and now Peebee. The kinds of characters who are very young who you want to take under your wing. However, I always found that very limiting. Personally, I would adore a super badass soldier/vanguard type who isn't super young or super immature. A woman with a personality but not a personality that's characterized by youth or a personality that is based in her gender.

Obviously, it's ultimately up to opinions, but was it just because there was no sex scene? Her personality? Because personally I like relationships with a lot of tension, and I just didn't find that in her romance. Josephine's romance in DA:I could have also done with more tension. And Merrill's romance in DA2. There was so much potential that I feel just wasn't ultimately delivered because it's easier to write them a certain way.

I loved how it was the only romance that didn't force sex on you in the entire Shepard Trilogy and instead was written to be ambiguous so you can have the kind of relationship you want. I loved her personality and how she was just a genuinely good person rather than some morally grey/dark/edgy character. And I loved how her romance was without tension, though her being kidnapped and spying on you can be seen as tension. You mention Merrill and Josephine, those two are my two favorite romances in Dragon Age and in Josephine's case all of Bioware history.

I wish her romance got more content. Hopefully, we'll get it with Vetra. I also would love Sloane Kelley being a love-hate fling for Fem!Ryder, even if that seems unlikely. Or, alternatively, Jien Garson being an option (her VA has played a lesbian before) and her pulling a Solas.
