If Foster Addison is going to be the lesbian, she better be a super important character and be interesting and have tension in her romance. I don't want a toothless "wow you're so pretty and nice teehee" kind of romance, since that's just lazy imo. Meanwhile I'm hoping for exactly that kind of romance and don't find that lazy at all, and don't want what you want.

Sorry for being out of the loop; these threads move too fast Who is Foster Addison? you find her (with picture) in the who's who section. According to what's written there she's responsible for Nexus Colonial Affairs. We don't really know anything about her, though. Bioware hide their characters pretty well this time. Gotcha. Thanks! I think I remember seeing the blurb about her now. Well, hopefully they are interesting and all the secrecy pays off.

Honestly, it just feels a little patronizing to me since it's usually only applied to female romance options...and a lot of them are the gay options. Accidentally kind of gender essentialist, in a way? Assuming that because just because it's two girls that they're gonna just talk about how pretty they are and have 0 conflict. It's not your fault, obviously. You like what you like. But the fact that usually it's the f/f options that get this annoy me.

And even some of the ones that were like that had some conflict.

Look, it's not that I don't have things I like about them! I do have things I like about them. I just want more depth from f/f romances than them find eachother pretty and being girls and etc. etc. The only f/f options I loved (since they weren't like that at all) were Samara and Isabela, and Samara didn't have that much content. Morrigan, Miranda, Jack, Cassandra, Ashley Williams, were all straight-only options, and it would have been cool if we could have some lesbian options like them.

It's about me personally wanting more stuff from them that relates to their inner conflicts, the plot, potential conflicts between characters. I feel like it's very gendered because it seems to hinge on them being women so of course there'd be no conflict, right? I don't know. I just want more from f/f romances than "wow you're so pretty!" That seems like a reasonable wish, to me.

I'll be happy with at least one decent male Ryder with male alien relationship. If the only m/m relationships are with humans that'll be pretty disappointing. I just find the humans in ME pretty boring compared to the aliens.

I heard Male Shepard was originally going to have the option to get with Thane, but they got rid of it, unfortunately.

I do like when the writer acknowledge it, since we almost have no important lesbian LIs, well there are none really who I am kidding. Dorian is maybe the first importante gay companion.

I want more lesbian stuff like that or even lesbian stuff that doesn't have that much levity. Ones that aren't just fluff, please!

The lesbian LI is going to be a NPC most probably and all the important LIs again are straight or bi.

Well... Knowing the track record of Bioware, I understand people being extra cautious about potential gay romances, but as things are today, we still know very little.
So nothing is all said and done on that front!

I'll be disappointed if I end up having to choose between romancing a squadmate and romancing a human, since I'm generally not into aliens, but I've warmed up to Jaal enough that I'll make do if he ends up being my squadmate option. After all, I've had to continually remind some straight players that having the same amount of options as everyone else doesn't guarantee liking said options.

I understand what you guys are saying about the Javik/Shep scene but I don't think they ever intended it to be rape. Thoughtless on their part, sure, because like you say, you're Shep could be X Y Z but to stretch what is supposed to be a drunken one night stand between friends? comrades? to something as awful as rape is a bit much. Agreed. While in poor taste, I wouldn't go so far as to call it 'rape' either. I definitely interpreted it as the two just drinking waayy too much and it happens. Again, poor taste on Bioware's part? Absolutely. At the very least they should have had some dialogue before that where you flirt with him or something at the party to trigger it. As it is, it's another case where they decided Shepard's characterization, rather than allowing the player to. And where it's a matter of sex, that's a huge no no I hope they never repeat. What I would call rape though is the Vega scene. Fortunately you can opt out of that one, but the entire thing is super creepy. He outright turns you down, he's clearly uncomfortable and conflicted about the idea, and you just keep asking him if he's drunk enough yet until he agrees. What if the genders were reversed? What the hell were you thinking, writers!? I only watched his """DLC romance""" on Youtube. It's horrible It made me feel like Shep was an incipient rapist

I wonder if any Angara besides Jaal are going to be available for one of those "light romances" or one-night-stands. They did say we'll meet some NPCs on planets who are up for that sort of thing.

Considering the female Angara seem to be designed to be rather attractive (and very obviously female) as well, I wouldn't be surprised if one was available as a romance. Perhaps even our lady in red (speculated to be voiced by Claudia Black) who appears in the background of that scene where we meet Jaal in the trailer. I'm guessing she'll be an important NPC based on the unique design of her clothing, and her voice actress, if we're right about her.
