From the official website: www.masseffect.com/news/meet-your-squad-with-a-new-trailer"Unlike Liam and Cora, your other squad mates, like Vetra, Peebee, and Drack, have traveled to Andromeda long before your arrival. Vetra, who is already onboard the Nexus, has found that family ties are more important than venturing deeper into the galaxy. Neither Peebee nor Drack were part of the initial Pathfinder team, and while you’ll find Peebee to be a free spirit with a penchant for alien civilizations, you’ll come to know Drack as an aged and grizzled veteran, even by krogan standards." What do you guys suppose this means? because the way it's written, it seems to me that there were more than one travels to andromeda

They said the Hyperion ark has some sort of problem during the trip which makes it arrive to Andromeda later than the rest of the Initiative. I guess that's what they mean by that.

I guess that's what they mean by that. yeah I think it's been said that the Hyperion developed a problem somewhere along the line which delayed it's arrival in Andromeda. It hasn't yet been asid what that problem is yet. I suspect that might be covered and discussed during the game's prologue mission. Either way we'll find out soon enough.

Hyperion was so sabotaged. Someone probably didn't want whatever/whoever was on it to arrive on time or ever.
Or I least I hope so. We need conflict. Cora having Tim's name seems like misdirection to me. Players may suspect her and ignore somebody else.

He seemed just a thugh though, probably not someone important, who know, i like the way you think. We need conflict and up until now we only have groot threatening us and that scourge thing but not some internal conflict which seems to be the root cause for Hyperion being late or distress. Anyways, thx for answering the question!

I quite like this concept. Obviously not sure how exactly it is written but if they want to have established cities and colonies they needed to be in Andromeda for at least 10 years imo. I am assuming this is because the Human Ark arrives later than the others, even if they set out at the same time. This gives the player both the chance to see the Andromeda with the first meeting vibe but also have the stories that more a established setting can give. I have been quite critical over some of the writing we have seen so far, but I do think this bit is nicely done.

That does bring up a good question. How many years off from the rest of the other arks and Nexus are we? A lot could of happened between the prologue and us finally reaching the core group. That's of course my assumption that the prologue is used with us fixing whatever is it that happened that set us off course.

God I hope Cerberus is not a major plot point in this game... Whole new Galaxy same old everything else... Maybe a mention in passing or a side mission but that is ALL. Anything else and it will be such a waist. Why go to so much trouble to separate this game from the original trilogy to just reuse the same bad guys?
I hope it is just a malfunction and not foul play.

It does seem like a lot of settlements are already pretty well established by the time we show up, which supports the plot point that Hyperion arrives later (possibly between a few months to maybe a year or two, I mean the Nexus has already had one major revolt). Kinda disappointed, but I get that the minutia of setting everything up doesn't make for riveting gaming.
I am, however, fascinated with the idea of performing the "multiplayer" matches yourself; is it an off-line affair where we use our custom Ryder, or is it like going solo in the ME3MP where you're still connected to the online server?

It makes sense to send someone ahead to make sure the coast is clear and maybe set up some early settlements when the bulk of the future population arrives aboard the arks. I am not saying that everything went according to plan, seems like it didn't (see Sloane Kelly, former head of security, who arrived ahead of us on the Nexus), but I think the arks are supposed to arrive later than the Nexus.

I wouldn't mind foul play being the reason the hyperion was late to the andromeda party.
Just needs to be a good reason for it.

That's of course my assumption that the prologue is used with us fixing whatever is it that happened that set us off course. My guess, and it's just a guess, is somewhere between 2-10 years. Long enough to get a chunk of construction done on the Nexus, set up a few hubs on planets, and become involved with a few of the alien races, but not long enough to set up a whole civilization.

acording to themikefest, the Hyperion is delayed because the pilot pulled over at the DarkSpace Food and Lodge. He/she was hungry and the Hyperion was low on fuel. Everyone, yes all 20 000, were awaken to get something to eat, use the facilities, stretch their legs and to buy some souvernirs. After the Hyperion was filled up with go-go juice, everyone was put back in their pod to continue the trip to Andromeda

I love how he uses 'no likely' as if taking a guess. Not likely isn't a flat no. But, it doesn't have to be Cerberus behind the scenes.

I'm sure they have already come up with a plot hole to cover that point. Mass Effect has the best writing.

Mass Effect has the best writing. That is a topic worthy of debate in itself, if I am correct there are many here that would disagree. ( unless you were trolling/being sarcastic ) But yeah I wonder what the reason would be for the delay. My guess is either technical/navigational errors or human sabotage ( not sure if personnel can awaken from cryosleep during the trip in dark space ).

And playing devil's advocate, anything Cerberus related would have plot ramifications, and if they intended on keeping it a secret, they wouldn't do anything to allude to such a thing over twitter. And just because they were building Shepard doesn't immediately disqualify that Cerberus or something Cerberus like from being involved. Andromeda Initiative first started in 2176, after all. People could've been planted at any point between 76 and 85.

If Ryder leaves with the tempest to get help for the Hyperion, who is piloting the tempest before getting the salarian pilot? The salarian pilot might have been on the human ark because he was part of the pathfinder team. The ark will have mostly humans but since the whole thing is a collaboration between the major races they likely have some crew on various arks to full fill various roles, might simply be that he was selected to pilot the tempest so he would travel with the human ark.
