Being a third world resident who plays at odd hours, P2P sucks for me. More often than not I will find myself playing with people from other continents, and while some people have better connection than others and are therefore better hosts, nothing beats a dedicated server - even if this server is located in another continent. This is not something that applies just for me; there are North Americans who play at odd hours and are likely to find themselves playing with Europeans as well. Dedicated servers help everyone - especially in a game that might not have a large community.
Moreover, when there is P2P, chances are there will be region-lock matchmaking as well; in other words, matchmaking will take place within a ping limit and a threshold will be imposed beyond which players are unable to find matches. Now that works wonders for people who live in the populated regions of Europe and North America, it guarantees they can have the best experience possible when searching for games. If you live anywhere else though, you are fucked, as the matchmaking will not allow you to connect to people beyond your region.
As for lag, that comes down to netcoding and lag compensation, features that apparently work better in dedicated servers, but I don't know much about them to give a well-informed opinion.
In all honesty I am not surprised if the game is indeed P2P, with region-lock matchmaking and utterly devoid of lag compensation. That is actually to be expected from Bioware, particularly given their last products. I would love to see Bioware thinking big and ambitiously in their multiplayer modes, though.

The only excuse for this is that "nobody else is doing dedicated servers so we won't either." Entropy and mediocrity have become the new standard. I'm starting to believe people who say another video game crash is coming, I've had about enough of this shit. wrong, titanfall 1 and 2 have dedicated servers, and DAI too Wrong, two games don't make an industry standard.

I live in a third world country too, and dedicated servers are the worst option, for in the server in my region nobody plays, there is just noone playing, that happend for titanfall1 titanfall 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, i just deleted DAI for there is noone and the connecton is still laggy as hell, so, P2P is the best option for us, for we will always find people, and even better if they are from another continent

Hey Derrame (sorry I am on my cell phone and I don't know how to quote long messages)
Titanfall 1 and 2 has dedicated servers and yes, some regions are lacking players. Yet you can always switch regions in one click and get the option to play with hundreds of people. Obviously you should experience lag when playing outside your region, but the game has excellent lag compensation. All my 180-ish hours of Titanfall 2 were played outside my region, at a ping between 160 to 250 ms, and I have had a great time. There are videos of people running it at 900ms and still managing to connect shots.
In DAMP there is P2P and region-lock, everyone you come across during public games is from your region. There is always a host running the game in real-time while everybody else is subject to some delay, depeding upon connection quality and distance.
Because Tifanfall 1 and 2 have dedicated servers you can always switch region and find people elsewhere. DAMP being region-locked doesnt give us that option.
ME3MP is very similar to DAMP but without any region-lock, thus you can find games rather easily, but there is no guarantee the ping won't suck.

They're unwilling and incapable of coding a proper netcode. They will put a region lock to try and obfuscate this, and it will be just like DAMP.

This is bull fucking shit. If there was two things I didn't want to see in MP was the stupid RNG crap and P2P. I will be seeing both it seems.
I hope they at least had the decency to improve the network coding, because ME3 was god awful in that.

Huge disaster. But it's to be expected, from a company who brought us an incredibly laggy multiplayer that's only playable if you're hosting your own games and completely unplayable if you're off-host. Of course, if i was in charge of BioEar, i would do exactly the same thing. Clever little sods they are. Spend the least amount of money on a game and put in the least amount of effort and hire the least competent game makers while still ensuring that you maximise profits, its fucking brilliant. Fuck the fans.

I think we get your point as I have now seen it repeated in multiple threads. Yes, ME3:MP is riddled with bugs and it can be as laggy as fuck off host... But I've been playing it for 5 years and I'm still having a blast messing about with friends and newbies alike. If you can't handle the lag, here's my advice.... Git gud

I dont have much issue with P2P in general. I do hope there is some improvement of the netcode including that of how hosts leaving during loading. For all the crap Destiny gets for its netcode it still is far better than that of ME3. I also hope that game mechanics are not tied to FPS.

I'm cool with a P2P topology. I've been playing ME3MP since release and have only occasionally run into unbearable lag. The one time I really had problems over a couple of days it turned out to be on my end with a loose DOCSIS connection at the telephone pole.
Now region lock...well, I'm not a fan of that at all. Let me roll the dice on game lag, not make the decision for me.

Well, the issue regarding lag... I apologize if my statements sound ad hominem regarding First World and all. Still, what some people should try to understand is that, depending on where you reside, you will not only have a state-of-the-art Internet connection but also a large playerbase within a 1,000 or 2,000km radius. When off-host, we are talking about a 50ms ping here, perhaps less. So if you suck, then yeah, you should totally consider 'gitting gud' asap.
Now there are those who might not be that lucky, have worse connection and they might have to extend their radius much further in order to find players. One of my best ME3MP buddies (with whom I played this P2P mess for a least a couple of hundred of hours) is someone who lives 17,000km away. We are talking about a 400ms ping here. This is lag on another level, and 'git gud' doesn't make miracles here.
Therefore, P2P and the lag resulting from it is not the same experience across the board, especially if it comes with region-lock.

ME3MP functions a lot better than DAMP, DAMP being the more recent game by biower which also uses the same engine as MEAMP.
I just want to point that out because whilst most people may have had a fairly decent time with ME3MP, the same cannot be said for DAMP which is much more relevant to the MEAMP experience.

Good thing for me then that I'm not the least bit interested in the MP aspect of the game. I tried ME3MP and was unimpressed (though not terrible) and DAIMP was just a horrid experience the few times I tried it, so I have no reason to think that MEAMP will be any better.
