Mass Effect: Andromeda | Tempest and Nomad Andromeda Initiative Briefing Hidden Gems Analysis

Ship's pretty slick.

Legitimately still unimpressed by the name "Tempest" though. Makes it sound like a force, rather than a character, like the Normandy. I know that's old talk, but it still feels underwhelming every time I hear it. It's just kinda generic-sounding.

I never notice those glass upper walkways before, very cool! I think my favorite part of the ship is the lab. I love science, and am very giddy over the whole 'research' aspect of what we'll be doing. Collecting samples, nerding out over them with whatever geeky character(s) will be in that space... Also, I love the plant wall, even if it is just decoration. And that there's potted plants all around the ship. A silly detail, but as someone whose apartment resembles a jungle it makes me happy. I also love the idea of a smaller, but more well-developed crew. I'm almost as excited about meeting them as about our squad mates.

Also I wonder who our potential geology nerd is. I would love it if it were Drack, because that'd be so unexpected!I just love it when characters have surprising quirks like that. Though it's more likely to be PeeBee (where tech is only one of her academic interests) or someone else. Vetra or Jaal maybe? Would be neat if either of them were scientists.

Anyway, great job on this - you picked up on a lot of little details I missed this time. Can't wait for the one on the newest briefing!

Well the Normandy was named following the Alliance tradition of naming frigates using Earth's mountains, but who knows why the Tempest was named like that.

Even if medi-gel is no longer a part of gameplay it still makes sense to have a crate here and there in the game world. They're first aid kits.

I like the interior design of the ship, it looks way more detailed than the Normandy's. Not just looks, the design itself is much more detailed imo.

They say it's smaller than the SR2, but it looks a lot more spacious to me.

It's definitely smaller, but there isn't as much crew and space isn't taken up by a huge CIC in the middle or all the control stations along the side. So it's a more open design. The galley is much small as is the crew quarters compared to SR2. The cargo bay isn't as long. I imagine the science center space would be equivalent to maybe the space between the med bay and the Normandy galley. Ceilings are more open with just a couple of decks so that also gives a more spacious feel.

I do like the more open concept of the Tempest.
